As for me, I am finding it pretty easy to maintain my weight...ok put on a few pound over Christmas, but once that was gone I have stayed within a 2 pound range.
My goal is to not go over 126.

I picked up my course materials yesterday, so getting a head start woohoo!

Good evening all! Let me be the first (I hope) to wish you all a happy Valentine's Day! May your day be special with a special someone to share it with.

That being said, my DH is in Georgia for Valentine's Day.....sigh. Not that is really matters much, he isn't a romantic person anyway, and I doubt if he will even remember it exist!

So, I am going to physiotherapy twice a week for my knees. Since I bley my ACl in my right knee I had three choices ... wear a brace for the rest of my life (NOT), have surgery and be off for 6 - 9 months with a cast and a brace and physio, or do the physio and hopefully strengthen the other three muscles/ligaments to compensate for the lack of the 4th. We shall see how this goes. So far so good.

I lost 4 pounds this week. I was shocked. We shall see what happens this week and go from there. My doctor has me on vitamin D and B pills. He sais 3/4 of Canadians lack vitamin D all year round so he recommended that I take them for life. I have a B12 deficiency, hence those pills. I also added a calcium pill, vitamin C and folic acid, as I know I am lacking in those as well, because I do not have a well rounded diet. Maybe the combination is kicking in and helping me lose the weight! Who knows.

I am glad to see you all posting, it seems like old times again! I hope all goes well with everyone.

Hello to the old gang and the new. Baby steps.

I am off to bed ... work tomorrow.

Lynn

P.S. Lynnie, my pooch is a horse!!! I will post a pic on my profile soon and you can see for yourself! But I love her anyway!

G'd Afternoon...

Feeling a little better today...fever is gone and took a shower and feel a tad refreshed...

Lynnie-I have been using Lysol and been spraying as I go...LOL...I don't want anyone else getting this..is was flu/cold combo...have the cold signs now...I am not sure what the temps were yesterday or the day before...my eyes were closed more then opened...

Buying windows can be expensive...we have all but 2 left to be replaced and we have those in the basement, its just getting someone to install them and that will be done this summer...not waiting another year...Congrats to John for the lowering of his sugar levels...super proud of you both! Keep up the good work!

Karen-NOW NOW! your a nurse!?!?! BUT I totally understand! If I didn't need to go I wouldn't either...I do love the fact that the exams are different now...I am happy that it was nothing serious...strange how your a tad older and have not gone thru menopause and I have...but everyone is totally different...

Lizzy-good job on the maintaining...have you found now that your at goal its harder to maintain? I know I have gained 3 lbs since I made Lifetime and have found that its harder to maintain...I want to be able to lose another 10 lbs for a total of 50, but need to get feeling better...

Lynnie-I think the reason why this hit me so hard is due to stress...plus I didn't get a flu shot this year either...thought I was doing well exercising ect...but need to pay better attention...

Ok off to eat some soup...its either soup or dropped egg on toast...

Have a good day!

If the mind can perceive it, and the heart can believe it then you CAN achieve it.

Hi Lynnie

I am not actually following the diet right now as I met my goal and don't want to lose any more weight.

It is kind of like Aitkins, except for the first phase which can last 2-10 days depending on your overall weight loss target...in that first stage it is pure protein only....meaning no fruit, veg, carbs etc. (Except for some oat bran daily for fibre)
Then the second phase is protein and veg...known as PV days, which is alternated with PP (pure protein days).
Some do it alternative days, others do 3-4 days of PV and 3 days PP..either way their is still no carbs in the form of bread, rice, potatoes, pasta etc etc, carbs only come from the veg.
You stay on that phase for quite some time before moving onto phase 3, where you slowly introduce carbs again.

I really enjoy it as I am a lover of chicken, steak, prawns. eggs etc so did not miss the breads, pasta and what not....still don't eat bread actually!

My hubby is insulin dependant diabetic and although he didn't cut out carbs completely, it has helped stabilise his sugar levels too.

Hi Sparklers!!!
Gosh, I am so thirsty tonight and decided to raid some of my DH's mineral water that he likes instead of a soda that I know is so bad for me. I hardly ever drink soda but sometimes I have a weird craving for one and it's not diet! We still have a bunch of it left over from the holidays that I just keep for company. Anyway, mineral water I think hit the spot ! Had a pretty good day today. We had an appt for someone to make a deal with us for some new windows. Whew expensive ones but they sure are good ones....TRIPLE pane!! We need 16 just for the second floor where we have the most of the old ones to replace. I think this house has 37 windows not counting the cellar windows.
Hi Karen!! I am so happy that you filled us in on how you made out with your Dr's appt and tests...I have been meaning to ask you about that and YES....um, you of all people not going for that many years. I am shocked! I hate to go too and now I'm going on 2 years. It's lousy with all of the moving we have done and always trying to find a good one. I don't like going to the dentist either! I'm sorry to hear of the pain and sickness that the cyst is causing you. I hope that it will start shrinking rapidly and bring you some relief soon. I had cysts years ago when I was taking fertility pills. The SPECIALIST (endocrinologist) that I was going to had me taking chlomid for several months and never checked to see if my tubes were open and they weren't and the follicles I believe turned into cysts in my ovaries and I ended up in the hospital and never returned to him again! I remember the pain I endured and lying in bed in a fetal position until I finally went to the ER. Digging up bad memories there....
Good to hear about the mamogram too. Perhaps the sight of something unusual was because of the new machines they are now using?? I'm glad you have that all taken care of now and on the road to recovery.
That 10K sounds really good. I think you should put something out there to the Sparkguy!! I would love to do it with you and I'm not going to say it's impossible but maybe one of these years! That's great that DS and his GF want to walk it with you.
Hope that you enjoyed your day off!! Oh and nope the guys are still not finished insulating. I think it might take them 2 more days at least. We are having it done from inside because we have aluminum siding and you can't take that off to insulate without damaging it. I wish it was the case because we have 3inch holes everywhere and they are going to have to drill some in our first floor apt...oh, that's going to be so messy with all that I have in here already. Mom is coming over to give me a hand moving stuff then cleaning up afterwards on Monday.

Kim, so sorry to hear of you not feeling well again...do you ever use Lysol?? Kills those bad germs dead in their tracks!! I wonder if working in the office and having different people in and out you get a lot of those bugs...do you use disinfectant wipes too?? I hope by tomorrow you are feeling better. Was it warmer in Vermont today?? We had a nice warmer day in the 30's. We will be heading up to Maine again next weekend to clear snow and check on our place.

Hi Liz!! I seen that you were the leader of the Dukan diet and was curious if that was similar to Atkins with the high protein and low carbs. Are you still doing it? I did a google search and read about it. Yesterday John and I checked our blood sugars and Johns has dropped quite a bit since we last did it about 3 weeks ago. He is on a pill for diabetes, metformin and anyway I think with the drop in his intake of carbs he went from 287 to 158, we are going to check it tomorrow morning again and keep track to see how it is from here on in. I have never had a problem with mine 3 weeks ago it was 124 after dinner and yesterday 98. Interesting.....
DH is getting my side of the bed warm for me so I better get going before he doesnt want to move over!!
Happy Sunday to everyone!!!

Hi gang!

Just long-lost me here, checking in again.

I am on-call for work today, and rather than be too productive around the house (just yet, anyway), I am opting to sit my butt in front of the computer and thought I'd give y'all a little howdy-hi. I think I can afford to, as I worked my butt off yesterday and got all the laundry done, the housecleaning done, the shopping done, and several things cooked and ready for the weekend. Feels good to be in control of all that, so now a little Spark time is in order!

I've been reading all the posts, and find it pretty amazing that alot of you are the same age! I just figured that no matter what, after we turned 40, we were rightfully classified as 40+, irregardless of how many +++ we must put after it! I'm going with it anyway, cuz it works for me. Having turned 50 last year, I spent some time thinking about the age thing. After all, 50 is half a century, and in that respect, *could* sound quite old. But I, like most of you, have not yet run across an age that I thought felt old. I have joked several times (as one must with a teenager around) that I will not be old until I hit 70. But in all reality, with the steam that I have going on, even 70 is not seeming that old to me. Of course, the next 20 yrs may prove differently, but until then, I will eternally *feel* like I am 32!!!!

I have not been feeling all that well as of late, but even that is not making me feel any older....just a minor setback. I went to the doc's a while back with severe abdominal pains, nausea, breast tenderness, and my periods had stopped for several months. Thought it was time to have it checked out, as I have been VERY bad about going to the GYN for even routine check-ups. Bad, bad me...I know. Hadn't honestly been to one since my son was born 17 yrs ago! Ouch! I can hear the "shame on you's"..."you should know better"'s....and I should. BUT....I absolutely hated my gyn, and the office people there, so i didn't go. We had a new group come in, and since seeing the one at work, and liking what he has done for our pt's, I went to see him. And, I absolutely love him! I will definitely be going back regularly now. So.....let him do every test he wanted. Why not check everything while we were at it? Got a clean bill of health on all the lab tests, and found out that I am a ways off of menopause yet still. Had an ultrasound of abdoman done, and they found a huge ovarian cyst....that's what caused the pain, and the missed periods, and the breast tenderness. And rather than operate to remove it, he put me on meds (birth control actually) that should make it go away without operating. I don't know if it's working, as I am still having abdominal pain (though not nearly as bad), and still have the nausea (just as bad). And now...to top it all off....I have had menstruation for 2 weeks already!!!! Uggggh. I know that's probably TMI, but geez! I'm tired of feeling this ill. Now, I have a bit lower energy on top of it all. I did place a call back to the office to make sure this is all "normal", but the doc had already left for the day, so I won't hear back until Monday. I also had a mammo (of course hadn't had one of those in who-knows-how-long), which showed a suspicious "something". Had to go back and have a more in-depth one done, an ultrasound, only to hear that it ended up being ok. Now that was a scary one, as my aunt died of breast cancer. But, I got cleared there, and you can bet that i will be going back regularly for that as well. If I could just get over this cyst thing, I'd be all good to go, as i took care of all my other check-ups when I turned 50 last summer. So, just 1 small part of me not being around has been my health issues, and not feeling very well too.

I have been quite bloated with my health problems, but with the nausea I can't really eat much, so I've just been kinda hanging out, maintaining. Of course, no exercise due to not feeling well either. We are forecasted for much warmer weather moving in by end of next week, so I think it's high time to get myself in gear, and back on the exercise train! Speaking of which, I see where they have opened registration for that 10K walk i did last summer. This year it is to be held on Sept 11. AND......they are adding a 1/2 marathon distance route as an additional option. Hmmmm.....what to do, what to do? My son said he wants to do it again, and this year his GF wants to participate as well. I am hoping to see how many people I can get to join me on this, and I think that will be the determining factor on which one I sign up for. If I get a few to join, I will do only the 10K. If not, I may just try the 1/2 marathon. We shall see. I also see where "Walking" Magazine voted this race the #1 walking race....and it's no doubt!!! It IS awesome, down to EVERY last detail! Anyone fancy a trip to Ohio....say, around Sept 11??? Wouldn't that just be so cool? I think I might just contact Chris Downey and see if Spark does anything around this race, or might. The headquarters are not far from this area. hmmmm...... Ooooops! There goes my wheels spinning again! LOL

Hope you got all your insulation in Lynnie. We had that done in one of our houses, but they blew it in from the outside, went in through under the siding, and put the "plugs" in, and replaced the siding. No inside evidence, and it made a huge difference in the warmth, and the heating costs. Thanks too, Lynnie, for your messages. You know I love your friendship, and I have really appreciated hearing from you! Now get Cooper out and romping!!!!

Kim, I sure do hope you are feeling better! There sure is alot of those crappy feeling, running amuck mack trucks around. I am fortunate to have not had to deal with that.....yet. I always seem to get it when the weather changes to nice....just so I can't enjoy, I think. Take care of yourself, and hopefully it won't last too long for you.

Lizzy....OMG girl! Going to be a personal trainer? How cool is that? I so admire you for making it that far. I have longingly seen ads for that training, and secretly dreamed of being there someday. I am so happy for your accomplishments! Way to go, to cap off all your hard work and efforts. The very bestest of luck to you!

OK....well, I have been writing this for literally hours, amidst many distractions. But, the good news is, I didn't get called into work. The bad news is, that I've forgotten all I've wanted to say, and that I have sat my butt in front of this computer talking online ALL day! So...now I will be off, as it is turning dark, and I haven't even gotten up to switch on a light! I will check back again soon, and perhaps will make my posts shorter, and more to the point of what I intended to write! Until then, have a great day!

Karen

We can reverse years of damage to our bodies by deciding to raise our standards for ourselves, then living differently.
Old wounds heal, injuries repair, and the whole system improves with just a few changes in what we put into our bodies and how we move them.

When it comes to clearing out closets I have done that a couple times!
The last time I even had to re-bag clothes that had been given to me previously that were too small...which I had never worn, but now are too big!

Good Morning and Happy Thursday Spark Pals!! emoticon

Fast week flying by me again! Hope that everyone is doing well and reaching their goals for the week. I have been staying consistently focused...feels good to be in control again. Mindfulness is always a good thing! I haven't done much in the way of exercise this week and poor Cooper hasn't even gone for a good walk just play time in the yard. I have been wanting to pump up my stability ball but the question is where to store it in our small apt and Cooper will think t's a toy for him. Wish I could fit it in the closet!!! I will have to just find a spot need to work those core muscles!
Liz, I'm happy for you that age hasn't bothered you and I think we are like fine wine and get better with age! I bet you must be excited about your training classes. Did you manage to go thru your old clothes and make room for the new?? I can't wait for the day that I can fit into all of the ones I have in my closet now!! I still have those button jeans I was once dreaming of getting into and haven't lost sight of that goal!!
We went out to dinner last night and I actually chose something off of the Healthy portion of the menu and ate asparagus and enjoyed it for the first time. It was steamed perfectly and wasn't mushy. It was delicious and I felt so proud of myself for making the healthy choice!
Guys are here have to run....have a great day everyone!! emoticon Let's be winners today!

Age doesn't bother me at all....in fact I couldn't wait to turn 40 as that was the year my hubby turned 65 and retired!
That meant we could go where we wanted, when we wanted...as long as I had internet hehe

I also begin my course to become a personal trainer this year, so WILL be qualified at 48...could never have done it in my 30's!

Liz, you are absolutely right !! We will still be 40+ and that might be better for some people than the 50+ ??? No age has bothered me yet, how about you?? My Mom's was 60 I think.

Cold is the word Kim and then the wind was unbelievable last night I thought the ouse was going to blow over! Brrrr....even though we have holes in our walls everywhere I am thankful for the insulation they are blowing in!!! Today they are here in full force again and hoping to be almost finished by the end of the day. I'll be fixing holes until summer! The second floor we will probably just put drywall over the plaster walls. Down here hoping it's to a minimum.

I can't get over how much John's stamina has changed since he's been on the low carb high protein diet!! And...did I tell you NO GAS!!! emoticon that's funny! It's so weird to see him getting on the scale!
Welcome to all of our new team members emoticon
Wishing everyone a wonderful healthy kind of day!!

Hi All!!
Just stopping in for a quick post (imagine that!)

Doing very well, that last hiatus just lasted too long! Today makes one week on my low carb living and I'm feeling great...lots of energy, my meals are holding me for several hours and being creative in a whole new food plan. I had an amazing loss this week and know that it won't be that high normally but I am going to keep on....cuz I'm feelin good. John forgot to WI this morning before he got dressed so I am thinking he lost 5-6lbs. Proud of him!
Kim, yes, I have done WW before at least 3x maybe 4! I have seen many different plans. They are always changing making it better it seems. Good luck to you getting those 3 lbs!! You can do it!
Wishing everyone a wonderful Tuesday!!! xo

Kimmy that's great news that you are doing so well and craving your exercise routine! emoticon Congrats on starting WW. Is there new plan more protein too?? I was having so many thoughts of joining basically for the accountability it would give me plus the pathway to good eating habits.
Oh, I bet you must be busy. What kind of dog do you have?? I have a Golden Retriever who is now 20 months old and still very much a puppy!
Keep up the good work!!! emoticon

Hi everyone!

I know I have been MIA for a bit, but I have been on track and doing well. Just getting into Weight Watchers that I joined last week. I have been using my treadmill too and am now down 6.5 pounds (from my start on here)! My weigh-in is tomorrow night but on here I will still be posting my home scale weights from first a.m.

My life is pretty busy with my autistic 16-year-old son and my crazy huge puppy...but I will try to get on here more.

I have found once you get exercising regularly, you WANT to keep exercising. One day last week Bob had a friend over and I couldn't use my treadmill (its in the living room) and I was actually a little bit angry thinking I couldn't that day...but I did after he left and felt much better!!! I was shocked at that feeling!!

Thanks for all the motivation everyone! Keep up all the great work!.

Hello!!
I promise a quick post tonight!!...
Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend.
I feel so good that I did and totally stayed on track and keeping hubby on track right along with me. Tuesday will be one week since we started our healthy low carb living. I discovered something new. Has anyone ever tried making mashed potatoes or rice out of cauliflower?? I have made the mashed cauliflower before but this weekend found a recipe for an alternative to rice and it was great. I even made little stuffed cabbage leaves today!! You just put the cauliflower thru a cuisinart with the grater blade. Put shredded cabbage in microwave bowl and cook for 4-5 minutes, then you can saute with garlic, onions, herbs....lean meats...use your imaginations!! Coming from someone who never use to eat cauliflower!!
Wishing everyone a great start to their week. emoticon

Glad everyone liked the train post emoticon

My training course doesn't start until near the end of April,
so in the meantime I have downloaded another course/workbook
that could end up with me getting an ACE Certification (US one)
I figure it will give me a head start on the UK course.

My own personal fitness/training etc is going great, still attending
the gym and twice weekly boot camps etc.
Kind of secretly hoping the trainer (who encouraged me to go for the course)
will ask me to help out once I get some "learning" under my belt.

So I am keeping fit and healthy and learnign at the same time, couldn't be better!

Love it.

Thanks for your visit and for taking the time to reply to my messages here and there. I am so happy for you and for all the motivation you are giving and getting back in return!!! You are SUPERCHARGED it seems!! Happy to hear of all the goals you are reaching over at BLC with the team. Is Mindy still with the team?? I often wonder how she has been. Alisa??
We have a great rail trail just down the street from us and I can't wait for spring either so I can ride. Don't think I am ready for running yet but future goal!
I wonder...how do you fit all that exercise into your already busy days??
Keep on running....like Forest Gump!! emoticon
Love and hugs to ya Chicky!! emoticon

Well hello there lovely ladies!!! Just thought I'd pop in and say hi to some dear ol friends.

Lynnie ~ Thanks for staying in touch. I always love to hear from you

Karen ~ How's the shadow dancing going? I miss our banter.

Mary ~ How the heck have you been, woman? Pop in and see me sometime. I miss hearing what you're up to.

Looks like you have some new faces around here.

So tell me, what have you all been up to? Me? I've been busy as ever and I've claimed 2011 as my year of completion. So far I've lost 8 pounds. I started the C25K running program the first of January and I'm averaging 8 miles 3 days a week already. I put in nearly 1700FMs for January and wogged 89.6 miler. I'm shooting for 100 miles for February. So far I already have 16.2 and I have a 10.6 mile run planned for tomorrow. When I'm not running, I alternating between Wii ZUMBA - SO much fun!!! - Crunchless Abs 3D core, 30 Day Shred and Yoga. I can't wait to get back to riding my bike in the spring. I've gotten past the "I really don't want to do this" stage and now I'm in the "what can I do today" stage. I made my resolution and I'm sticking with it. I felt myself flagging a bit last week so I've reclaimed my motivation and declared February as a fresh, new beginning. I think I'm on to something with that.

I'm still captaining a BLC team but I've renamed us the Sassy ShamROCK Sheriffs. We're having alot fo fun with our new identity. I still have a few of the goldies with me. Remember Rachel? She's my co cappy now. And Marsha? I've dubbed her our Pin Up girl. You should see the abs she's sporting! I hope I have abs like that when I'm a GM. I have a few that have stayed with me each round and we've grown into a family of sorts. We're a far cry from the Mighty Moss of old. This team has been logging 8000-9000FM weekly and we've been placing 2nd and 3rd in all the BLC wide challenges. Being surrounded by such enthusiasm and energy is so motivating. I know that's why I've become so successful this round.

I hope you are all doing wonderfully. I really do miss you. Karen, no one has tp'd my cabin since you did it. LOL!

If you are ever interested in trying out the BLC again, I'd be honored to have you join me again. Regardless, please pop in my Spage now adn then to let me know what you're up to.

Hugs!

Tammy

Hi Everyone!

For some reason this typing block looks different...did they change something??

Liz, Thank you for all of your inspirational quotes. I do actually read all of them and it puts into perspective that I am not really such a failure, I just have to believe I can and conquer the impossible and make it happen and if not today tomorrow? Thanks!! No time to cry over what's been done just time for me to pick myself up and move forward and that's just where I am headed. I've been picking up steam, making a plan and it's time.
How are your new diet meals?? I hope they are all that you were hoping for. That is nice that your husband is not fussy, I'm lucky that way too. And...Congrats on taking the course to become a personal trainer! That's wonderful. Does it amaze you at how far you have come?? Did you ever think or imagine you would be here someday?? Kudos to you!!

Hi Kim!! How are you making out with all the snow up there?? We went up to Maine last weekend and blazed our way into the driveway first then out came the Kubota and roof rake! Even though we shut the water off when we turned it back on we had a few frozen pipes that John was able to fix. Have you been able to recover those extra lbs?? Do you get to choose what week a month you want to WI at WW?? How did you make out with the job you applied for?

Kar, how was your quick trip south?? and wondering how your husband is doing?? You've had your share of bad weather too and I'd rather have snow than the rain or ice.

Salidona, great job!! Thank goodness your meds were changed or tweaked. I hope that you are feeling better and Congrats on the 12 and a half pound loss!! emoticon

Lynn, how are you doing?? Hope you are staying warm up there in the northern tundra!

Shout out to Roxanne and Kimmy, hope that your week went well!!

Okay, have to tell you about my week...in the back of my mind I have been thinking about the Atkins diet. I tried it several years ago when I was a vegetarian and just didn't feel I had the options to make it work for me or perhaps thru in the towel without investigating into what I could do to make it work better and more of a lifestyle change for me. My husband had good luck with it and it helped him to stay within the weight range for the Army way back when. Well, I decided this weekend that we both needed to get back on track, he has about 100lbs to lose and me 50.I have been feeling terribly bloated and sometimes even nauseous after eating lately and wondered if it was my sugar levels and after testing it they seemed fine. I seemed to be hungry all the time and was going thru what seemed sugar highs and lows craving this and that yet never feeling satisfied and in the meantime the scale kept going higher and higher and Tuesday when I weighed myself I was 201! I swore I never wanted to see those numbers again but low and behold there they were. emoticon
Tuesday John and I started Atkins and have been keeping our carb intake very low. I'm striving for 20 he gets a little more with his 2 beers a day. I have not had any sugar this week and have totally stayed on track and I have great energy, no feeling of being bloated and so motivated. I want to stay on the induction phase for a while then slowly incorporate healthy carbs back into my system and find a happy spot where I can continue to burn my fat away! This morning I stepped on the scale to see if the scale had moved any since Tuesday and I was down 5.6 lbs. I know a lot of it was water retention but I am just happy to be that much farther away from the 201 I seen the other day! As for John, he has seemed to have more energy this week and said he hasnt fallen asleep at his desk in the afternoon!! That's a positive sign! I feel really good about this and that we are doing it together makes it even better. I think I had become a serious carb junkie and it was really making me sick!
Sorry for talking so much! Goodnight all and wishing you a great weekend!!! emoticon

I'm lucky in that sense it's just me and hubby and he will eat anything I put in front of him....which sometimes causes a problem because he never says "oh I fancy xxxx tonight" never gives me an idea what to cook!

So the meals are for me, he might have one now and again, but I have already cooked 3 racks of ribs, a beef roast and a couple pounds of chicken to see him through the week, just got to add veggies each day.

As for stopping at the store...I did the same thing yesterday, went out for figs 1.74 came home after spending 35 lol, but all good stuff.

Oh Lizzy that saying is so TRUE! It took me awhile to reach my dream of losing the weight and I did it and if I did-ANYONE CAN!

I so wish I could order my foods, but then I'd still have to cook for my family...SO when I do cook, I make something that is more on my line...like whole wheat pasta...light this or fat free that...they don't like it...they can fend for themselves...
lol-but they usually do eat what I have...

Went to church and then stopped at the store, was only going to get some oatmeal...opps $40 later!

Going to do some laundry and then hike up the hill w/my snowshoes...

Have a good afternoon!

All the blog was about really was that I ordered from "diet delivery" service. I was getting lazy and bored with my menus, and most times can't be bothered cooking, so took the easy way out lol.
The boxes arrived the other day, will be starting them tomorrow.

Lynnie-be careful! unthawed here...now have snow...

Lizzy-I will have to look for your blog...

I have not had time to do overly too much on here these past 2 weeks as I have been exhausted-over worked-and STRESSED OUT! I mean to the MAX!

Ok I have to get in the shower...shoveled 3/4 of our deck and left the rest for DS...

Stopping by to say Hello to everyone and hoping you had a good week. Gosh, the week seemed to just fly right by me again!
Karen, I am so sorry to hear the news and sending many thoughts to you and your son and healing wishes to your husband. This must be so difficult yet, somehow you are always so optimistic and I admire that SO much of you. I am thinking that you have a very good support network at work with you. Keep the positive thoughts flowing and please keep us updated when you can.
Kim, Are you starting to thaw out yet?? I hope that you had a good supply of wood for your stove this year. I can only imagine how crazy busy your work has been these past few weeks. I feel fortunate that we can pay for our heat so far and insulation coming soon!! The guy came over last night and we just have a few more things to square away before they come to fill these empty cavities between our walls. I hope that we will find a noticeable difference in our gas bill. I have been hanging all of my clothes up in the cellar and drying them in the dryer for only about 10min want to see how much that too will save.
We are headed up to Maine tomorrow to dig our way in to our property! I am wondering how much snow is piled up in front of our driveway from the plows. We will have to work at getting to the garage for starters to get the Kubota out, fire started in the woodstove, water running again and lots of snow clearing I'm sure. I really wish we could have gotten up there sooner but weather and other obligations didn't allow us the option.
I have had quite a bit of exercise shoveling this past week and long walks with my four legged walking partner in the snow. I really enjoy walking when it's snowing out and even better in the evening when everything is so still and quiet.
My husband has an appt at the VA hospital in Augusta Monday so we wont be retuning to Mass until Monday night. I am so fortunate that my sister will be staying here and puppy sitting for us. No worries!
Liz, I read your blog about the meals and great idea to try it out. It sounds very reasonable.
Have a great weekend everyone and I will check back next week. Take care!!

Just long lost me here....

Been way too crazy busy too myself, but wanted to check in and let y'all know I'm still out here....plugging along. Never much progress, never much regress, but here just the same.

I've been away this time with good reason, as my husband has been in the hospital in ICU for a week now (with difficulties for days leading up to the hospital stay), and it had been rather touch and go for a while. I suspect that it may be a while yet before I am back in full swing, as there is still a long road ahead there on that front. These recent events have had me spending much time running around, in addition to all my "normal" stuff too. Rest assured though, everything has a way of working out!

For now, I am off to yet another meeting, and more running, and much to do with my son as well. I will be back when I can, and hope that everyone is well....and WARM! Take care.

Karen
