I thought I was replying to a specific post but the way it posted on here it is just a general message which makes no sense when you cannot see the post I am replying to. :/ I tried to delete this but cannot so I am just editing with explanation.
I did not know about this. Thank you for posting and I am going to have to check it out. Do you know if they allow people to walk up and down the steps as well as the floor?

Hi everyone, I haven't been on spark for a very long time and I see that the 518 team has fallen away. I am back on spark and have been daily since Oct 11th and am very focused to make this happen. Who's still out there? Hope to connect with some locals :) Have a great Saturday !!

Juri62: I used to spend about an hour on Spark when I was home. Have been MIA due to the fact the place that I'm staying at didn't have internet hook up. This wind is crazy. Was out to shovel the area for the Pups to use, and it was blowing right back as fast as I could move it. Just crazy ! Hope that time will allow me to get on the site more often. It seems that every time I sit down to use my computer one of the aids helping me take care of my dear friends comes needing help with turning or changing her. Oh well ! Today I was able to sit and chat for a moment ! Take care everyone !

Trying to figure out how to fit Spark into my routine without it consuming so much of my time, I'd like to know how much time everyone spends on Spark daily or weekly.

To me, january (yes, lower case "j" because the month is too unimpressive to deserve any capitalization!) is the "cold month" and February is the "snow month". Then March sneaks in with the allure of a warming up from the previous weeks. The kids don't look QUITE as ridiculous wearing their shorts and sandals as they walk through the snow. Then: whammo! We get the March Snow Dump!! To me, that's a typical winter.

This just does NOT feel typical. Let's all board some kind of vehicle that's heading to a warmer place!! YES!! Just the thought of escaping to a warm climate makes me want to do a hula! What d'ya think? Sound good?!? (Ah, Publishers Clearing House: where ARE you, anyway!?!?)

Happy New Year everyone!!
Hiking in this weather... BRRRRrrrrr!!!! Hope you're enjoying it!!
Been mostly offline for several weeks with just spurts of being able to get anything. TW guy fixed the problem yesterday; YAY!! Something about the connection at the wall caused the problem, so I'm finally back online.... and had over 900 unopened emails staring at me when I finally accessed my email. Yikes. My computer surfs drastically more rapidly than it ever did since I got TW two years ago, so my slow connection wasn't because I have "standard" but because the connection problem was always there. Last week I was ready to give up on internet altogether and now I'm flying through cyberspace. Ah, the little things in life do make a difference! ;)

Today I walked all the aisles at Hannaford to add steps to my pedometer... and when I got home realized I'd taken it off when I changed clothes!! So I can relate to your shoveling without tracking!!

Hmmm... Maybe someday they -HHHN or someone else- will set up a solid group in this area for people who are diabetic. They had such things where I grew up (just below Newburgh) back in the 60's! Surely the idea should have spread north by now! Independent Living Center on Glenwood might be interested in starting one... Or maybe they already DO??

Bought a "Veggetti" gizmo at Walmart last week after a gal in the HHHN group talked about how she loves hers. And. I love it too! It's easy to use and clean and you can have vegetables instead of spaghetti... or just add them to soups or stews or even salads. Pretty kewl and easy to use! Ut oh. I sound like a commercial, huh?

Hope your week is flowing well and the cold has released its hold on you!

That would explain a whole lot ! I have been diabetic since two years after I started on Lipitor.
They keep running class action suites for people like me, but I can't prove what year that was that I was started on the drug. My doctor closed his office and when I left he wouldn't send my records forward to my new doctor.

I'm sure that you will many great things in this group!

Whitney seems better, but I'm still working hard to get rid of this cold. I have not had internet service for a week. Good old Time Warner.

I have been off the computer for the week and am finding it hard to type today.
It is a wonderful lovely day. All the snow is melting away and that is fine with me. I forgot to put on my Spark Tracker while I was doing all my shoveling on Thurs. & again on Friday ! So I don't know how many cals. that I burned up. Have a great day !

Thanksgiving sure was not your day! HOpe both you and Whitney are feeling back to a healthy state asap... and... that we don't have to look at snow again for a while!

The HHHN group is the first of its kind for HHHN and is funded by a grant (this is part of the new drive to put monies into wellness instead of after-the-disease-hits care/expenses, so we are the guiney pig group! Very small group. Only about 8 of us; over 20 were contacted, so 12 people who are headed for physical problems are missing out on this opportunity. Ten HHHN doctors each recommended a few people as possible participants; when I go to my next appointment I must thank my doc for including my name! It's geared to people who are either pre-diabetic or who have high risk factors (I'm in the latter group). I love it.

What surprised me is that in tracking, we are to measure everything but actually only track calories and fat. Would have thought we would be tracking carbs, proteins, and sugars, but nope. Or even the glycemic index...? In the almost 3 weeks of tracking I've only gone up to my calorie range (1260-1600) two times. Hit the fat range (50) one time... when I actually ate fried food! (Red Lobster's fish and chips...but I didn't eat the chips) Not eating enough has been my hurdle foodwise all along, and tracking has always made me feel even less like eating. My dieticians both had stated that until I eat more I'll proably not lose weight. It's so frustrating, because I really have no interest in eating. Am seriously wondering if adding a piece of gooey cake to my days would help me lose weight!! How's that for weird?

Thanksgiving was nice... quiet for a change, too. My elder son and his family (kids aged 5,3 and almost-1) went to my ex's house and took my elder granddaughter (age almost 17) who is my other son's daughter. So. My younger son cooked a lovely dinner for my parents, grandson, and his wife and him. Oh. And me. lol. My grandson is autistic and seldom seen; he prefers to be by himself most of the time. That meant it was basically the first 'grown-up' holiday I've experienced in many many years! :)

Anyway. I love the group and am hoping that maybe it will help me find solutions; I HAVE to lose this blasted weight....

SAM How did things go at the HHHN ? I have not heard anything from them about a group getting together for diabetics. Glad that you got info about it !
I have been under the weather. Thanksgiving was a very quiet day for me. My little Whitney was very sick and so we didn't get out for Thanksgiving dinner with the family. They have other dogs and not knowing what was making Whitney so sick didn't want to share anything with the other dogs in the family.
He is doing better, and now I'm healing from a cold I got from shoveling snow most of the day on Thursday. Stay strong and keep in touch !

How did I get so off-track in checking in!? Am sorry about that! My hand still hurts from the 9/21 accident but is functioning almost normally now. However, I've been down with a nasty virus of respiratory type for over two weeks. That, too, is finally improving. But. This just has not been the way to enter the winter months!

Someone from Hudson Headwaters called me, and I'm happy to say she signed me up (meaning I grabbed the opportunity!) for a new program for people who are at risk for diabetes; I'm JUST below the prediabetes numbers, but have so many other 'qualifications' that it's a bit unpleasant.

Am pretty sure my real issue is the lack of activity/exercise. My eating issue that I still work to get into line is that I forget to eat; that means that I will have one meal a day.... at about 6-8pm. (I get up 9-10am, go to bed at 2-3am) Knowing these two areas - not exercising, and not eating at intervals - hasn't helped me make the necessary changes. So, I'm sure hoping that the group dynamics will help. Jennie of HHHN was interested in the program I'm leading here where I live, so I took my materials and handouts to her to show what I can do... without a budget. She has a set program she will stick to and must not give out anything of mine because the grant funding the program is very specific and can't be altered. What's interesting is that she's covering ALL the areas that I'm covering in my group! But. Her materials are organized better. Hopefully, it will start up within the next two weeks. Yikes... just in time for Thanksgiving?! That's just too funny, huh?

Am so sick of all this weight. Am going to really be digging in with gusto as this program begins, treating everything as though it's new to me. A fresh start!!

Hope your week (month!) has been flowing well.

The daily chat, tired of the weather and running out of stories of the pups. Been holding my own on the weight, which is great seeing that I have not been doing much to get some off.
I am hoping to do the Spark Tracker Challenge for Oct which is to walk 100,000 steps this month with my tracker keeping track of each step. So today I looked down to see that I didn't have the tracker on the shoes that I have been wearing all weekend. So now I know why there where no steps on my page. So I have to take the time and find the last shoes that I had on for tracking. Just have to look at the stairs one of those pair of shoes will have the tracker.
Batteries: I just put a new battery in the tracker and when I did it came up on the SP site and told me that it was 24% . This morning it is telling me that it is 18% and that I should put in a new battery. But I just did that! Just purchased the battery last month, so I'm hoping that the other battery has more life in it. It really gets to me that they sell these batteries and there is no way to test them before bring them home. And it was one of those good companies not a dollar store battery. Hope that you have a great week ahead if you have taken the time to read this !

I'm doing fine this evening. ! Glad you remembered the Sale, I didn't want to shoot down your ride. You can go up the Northway and stay on until the next exit after Warrensburg. Get off the exit and go to your right and go down the hill to Lake George. The view as I remember is breath taking ! It has been sometime since I have taken a trip out to see the leaves. It was one of my Mom's favorite rides. Now I use my car mainly to get around town and get to the doc's office.
It is hard to drive and enjoy the views any more with all the silly people out there trying to drive and take pics at the same time.
Let me know how the leaf peeping goes this weekend for you ! I have found from year to year that I see wonderful trees and have come home and found the best one right here in my own neighborhood. But that tree has been gone for the last three years.

Hope the hip doesn't act up from your walk. Glad you got out to enjoy this wonderful day!

Got my car back today!! Like you, I was so pleased with all the autumn colors! Am hoping tomorrow's rain doesn't leak into Sunday and that the trees don't lose those leave: I want to drive up the Warrensburg hill on the Northway Sunday... in sunshine! Oh wait. This is the weekend of the world's greatest garage sale. Yikes. I do NOT want to be in the traffic while admiring tree colors, so another route might be wise!

Oh my. I couldn't tell you how long it has been since I used canned veggies. I'd much rather use a little energy and time to defrost frozen and enjoy the taste than have to try to wash the sodium off those canned items. Yet, not that I think of it I did have some canned beets the other day.
Sounds like your are making a difference ! Yes, there was an accident on the corner of Bay and Sanford where I live. And the guy standing there was showing everyone and any one the pix he had gotten of the teen age gal on her cell phone and the time and the accident. When she was asked by the police if she was on her phone she was very quick to say oh no officer. I wouldn't do that. When I told the guy what the gal had said. He took his pix over to the police officer and he was very happy to write her a ticket for talking, texting and causing the accident. All from a walker who took the time to catch the action on his phone. That is one of the only times that I think someone had used their phone for good.

Last two days have really been strange. Looking like rain and yet nothing happening. Hope that you have a great afternoon.

Ohhhh I do NOT like that Benson/O'Tools parking lot! And... Though I think the Price Chopper on Glen is a nice store, I won't shop in it simply because... the store seems to attract really careless drivers to its parking lot!

People using cell phones can drive by a police car and not be stopped. My DIL was hit by a gal who was seen on her cell phone as she hit my DIL's car... and the state trooper did not ticket her. Maybe vigilante action is mandated. Ut oh!

Last night one of the gals at the Healthy Lifestyle RoundTable -a gal whose doctor warns her to lower sodium, because of medical problems and edema from high sodium - told use she uses only canned veggies. And doesn't look for 'lower sodium' on the labels either. Well. Now the rest of us are 'onto her' and hoping we can help her look at her food labels to seek lower sodium options! This is just one example of how the group discussions have been helping people shift toward healthy. And. One of the tenants here asked me if I'd like him to do a Qi Gong demonstration for the group in November; my answer was of course "absolutely"!!

So sorry about your car ! I'm hoping that you and the car will be doing much better once time fixes all.
Yes, I wish that more people would stop fooling around with stuff in their car and watch what they are doing while they are behind the wheel. So many people are trying to use their cell phones while driving and they really don't think that they will have an accident. I was hit over at the Benson Pet store where O'Tools is located. The gal had not only one ear piece from a phone in her ear, but two and had her radio going so that she didn't hear me blowing my horn as she backed right into me. People yelling at her and everything. And then she had the nerve to yell at me that I should have used my horn. Oh Boy !

I'm doing better and going to start up on walking daily for 10 mins. We will see how this goes. I'm sure that it will start out being tiresome.

Sounds like you are doing a great job with the Social Group on Healthy Lifestyles ! I'm sure that it is different for them, but I bet they stick around longer !

Kay, I'm sorry to hear of the pain you've been having! Is the therapy helping the nerve, or is it one of those 'time heals' issues? Nerve pain is horrid. Hope it disappears so you can resume ALL normal activities! I know quite well how pain takes a lot of energy and sort of fills the days (and nights)!

Zoe and Whitney sound like such wonderful, fun-loving companions: better than anything on tv, 'cause they cuddle, too! :)

The social support group is going well! We generally have 8-10 people, just enough to cluster comfortably around one large round table. It's ideal for solid communication! I always start with some handouts, have a topic ready, and then let the conversation and exchanges begin. Sometimes I print things from the web, always citing sources and web addresses so that anyone who is online can dig further if desired. And sometimes I hand out free literature that I've been acquiring. The NIH (National Institute/Health) is a fantastic resource. Several SP articles are clearer and more to the point than any other articles I've found on this or that topic! Now THAT was a surprise to me! I'd never seriously compared my resources, just read and absorbed from this or that credible site. But right now I'm trying to find things that are easy-reading rather than too detailed, because the majority of people who attend are really getting introduced to a new concept, so I don't want to flood them.

I'd never realized how much I have changed in the past ten years until I realized that I'm so 'into' the concept of 'lifestyle' that I don't speak the same language as someone who is thinking "well, I sure do need to lose weight somehow"! They seemed surprised at first that I focus on habits, emotions, nutrients... etc... rather than saying "ok, here's our diet plan". Every week I hear someone say "I never knew that!" to information I hand out or to exchanges we have among ourselves, so I leave each meeting feeling full of energy, optimism and just all-out really fantastic. Kewl, huh? The trick is in keeping it going. In two months I'll be facing that one!

Was in a car accident Sunday. Was coming northbound up Bay, slowing down for a yellow light on Quaker when a car zoomed out of the CVS plaza on the other side of the road to turn left (to go same direction as I was). I was going downwards of 10mph; she hit the rear seat door. Car goes into shop for a pile of body work on Monday for a week. Needs door replacement, wheel alignment, and a bunch of other things. The impact jammed my hands into the stearing wheel. Left one is painful, but no breaks. Am full of arthritis, so the impact 'just' aggrevated all my messy old bones. Felt bad for the gal who hit me; she didn't see me. OK, she was very careless, but... somehow when a person obviously feels concern and regret it's a little easier to cope with the fact that they affected your life. Though I sure wish she'd watched where she was going...

Oh my. I am sleepy! NIGHT! Have a lovely weekend!

I have been MIA, due to back pain.
Which now I have found out wasn't my back at all, but my left hip nerve ! After doing four weeks of therapy I'm on my own and doing very nicely again. Now to start adding some of the activities that I have not been able to enjoy since Aug.
Walking is slow going, but the pups where so happy to have a nice little walk.
Yesterday with all the wind blowing around, we inherited a nice purple large ball ! Zoe was in 7th heaven with the gift. Whitney the pup, didn't want to have anything to do with the ball.
Today, the two pups are enjoying the ball and sharing ! Zoe likes to pull the ball out of the plants and Whitney likes to push the ball around the yard so they are a great pair to play together with the big purple ball !
Hope that everyone fines the simple joy of life !

Sosorry that I didn't see that you'd written in the thread! (I still have 398 unopened email in my inbox!! Just can't seem to plow through them quickly enough!)

What aren't you sleeping well?
Knowing or guessing the reason helps lead to solutions.

Is your mind just churning and not wanting to let you relax?
Are changes in health or your routine affecting your ability to stay asleep?
Is it pain??

When you lie down at bedtime... are you comfortable or do you start tossing and turning to find a comfortable position?

Have you tried using soft (classical!) music to drown out other sounds that might grab your attention?

Are you tired when you wake up?

Maybe.... you're already sleeping better?? I hope so! But if not, maybe finding the answers to some of the above questions might help me see if I can send tips your way.

So for 3 nights I've taken Tylenol pm which has allowed me to sleep 6 hours which is much better than 4-5 hours, but it's not a long term solution.
I need tips for high quality longer sleep.

We have an "Activity Club" where I live (senior housing community) and at last night's meeting I proposed a 'healthy lifestyle/weight management support group' which I volunteered to facilitate. Had already talked to some other residents so I knew some people are interested. Now. Need a name! The guy who is president of thegroup met me later and reminded me that (he and I are younger than most residents...and are both 64) many of the people don't relate to the lingo of "lifestyl" or "support group" and when I write this up for the monthly newsletter I need to simplify and just like in givig speaches "remember who is in my audience".

That's when I realized... I've been so INTO healthy lifestyle that I TALK in a different way about weight loss and management!! Imagine that! I have to translate in order to share!!?!! Wild, huh?

Anyway. During the next few days I have a lot to do to create a name (fun) and write a tiny blurb that won't scare people away! lol My goal is to give people true support, and I've been told I can get speakers, that the activity club will pay (ok,within reason). Wish me luck, k?

What a nice week we had last week. I'm hoping that we will be able to stay with the cooler less humidity.
Tomorrow is weigh-in day and seeing that I just had to have that ice cream the other day I'm wondering what the scale will have to say.
Have a great week ahead and stick with your journey's plan.

Managed to get all my running around done for now. Woke this morning, got the puppy walk behind me and most of the garden work done early, early this morning ! Glad to have it behind me. The air is on and yet when I was out it did seem to be wonderful with that breeze !
I don't get down to the city proper GF so I didn't know that there was construction going on. I have found routes to all my usual spots that I don't run into road work or congestion.
It was a nice day yesterday with company dropping in and the pups did very well. Everyone managed to be on their best behavior. Today now that most of the stuff is done except to get lunch for a friend I'm resting. Taking it easy. Maybe if I get over heated today I may take a trip down to the pool and get some water workout. We will see. Right now I just wish that Zoe & Whitney would stop ringing the bells on the door to go out. In and out is driving me crazy. I hate not to respond to each ring because I depend on it for I can't see if they are at the door asking to go out for real. TeeHee When training pups one must be careful what you teach them. I have just gotten Whitney back in the house and Zoe who was out first is ringing away. So I"d better get off this computer and attend to her need.
Have a great day of R&R.

Wonderful! Another pound has fled into your history! It's sure not easy when we're not 20 anymore, so every pound down is worth (non-food of course) celebration.

Today has been what I call a "down day" - that's a day of relaxation that is necessary because I'm hurting a lot or very sleepy or both. Today it's both. According to this human barometer, the weather's not friendly even though the sun is shining.

Since the construction workers and commuters have all gone home for the day, I think downtown GF is more manageable now, so I'm off; gotta scoot out into the world to run unavoidable errands. Would wait til 10 pm when it'll be cooler but stores do tend to close, don't they?!

Stay cool!

It has been a great July so far. I love the heat of the day and the cool of the nights. It has been three weeks now since I stepped back on the scale and started eating healthy once again. I'm happy to say that another pound has gone away and it feels so good to see the scale goin in the downward motion.
Hope that you are having success with your plan.

Isn't it strange how things work out like that radio playing Christmas music.
hope that you have a great week ahead and that you will be able to use those reward sometime soon.
I want Ice Cream so bad. But refuse to take the car out of the garage for it !

Sorry I've been AWOL. This afternoon I started the car and the radio was playing Christmas Carols! It was one of the Albany stations I think... Hadn't even thought about that "Christmas in July" concept all year til then! so... Wow, how strange a coincidence it was just now click into the Daily Chat and read your 7/13 note about Christmas in July!

Thursday thru this afternoon: I spent a few days on the east shore of Schroon Lake visiting with my parents and vacationing cousin. We went to Cafe Adirondack for dinner last night, so tonight I ate the half of the meal that came home with me in a box!

Was sorry to get emails from Coldwater Creek saying they'reclosing all their stores, because one of my Big Rewards was to go to the one in Albany! I'd planned to browse and then try on things and buy one or two outfits! Well, I'm not going to ditch my goals, so I'll have to pick another store for that reward! But it sure is tempting to consider going down there to see if anything is left.... Naw, I haven't earned it yet! But from the sounds of it, maybe YOU have!

Christmas in July on the Hallmark channel. So today I switched out ratty dog toys for New from the past Christmas. The pups got so many gifts, they just couldn't play with them all at one time.

The way I look at house work is that I'll do yours if you will come do mine.
It seems that I can do my friends house work for them but when it comes down to my own, I can find many excuses not to get it done. I take care of about 4-6 friends of mine who are in the late 80's. Taking them shopping, doing some of their housework when they just can't. etc.
Today I got the lawn done, some more weeding, and then this afternoon I had the care of one of my ladies. Getting her dinner, giving her the night time pills and then making sure that she got her insulin shot and a snack for later in the evening. So I was with her for 4 hours. The pups where very happy to see me come home. Always so nice to be greeted with barks and licks. Hope that you got your house work all in order, but I'm thinking a nice picnic lunch sounds so much better. Have a happy, healthy and exciting weekend.

Housework seems harder to do now that I'm alone and have fewer people and fewer meals on my list of chores! It really is true that the busier one is, the easier it is to get things DONE. (Like the old saying: if you want something done, ask a busy person!) So. I have a LOT of housework to do this weekend! Weird, but so true!

Enjoy your weekend!

Yes, hard to believe that tomorrow is the last day of this school year. Now for the fun of the summer with kids around the hood here. It will be very interesting. Hope that you have gotten some of the things that you wanted to do, done ! I have been under the weather for the last couple of days, but the work around the house still needs to get finished each week.

Have a great weekend !

Is it really Monday again?
Just where did this past weekend go. I had so much I wanted to get out of the way, and I don't think that the list got any smaller. It was just so wonderful out that I didn't get much done in the house. The way I look at it, that will always be there to do and there will come a day when I can't be out side enjoying the wonderful world we live in
Maybe going out fishing with my friend this afternoon up on the Schroon River. So want to get some stuff done so I'm feeling that I'm free to go !
Good for you SAM for taking on a new class of SP first timers. I don't think that I could answer half the questions that they would be coming up with to take on a class. So glad that you are doing it.
Have a great week ahead everyone !

Kay, you've been doing a lot of yard word; could you be gaining muscle that upped the weight temporarily? Just keep doing what you know to be RIGHT; hopefully, it will level back down.

Today I spent a lot of time going through slacks, trying them on, marking pieces of paper with size, fit, the word "Hem" i it fits NOW, and a weight number for trying items back at that weight because they're too tight now. And. Several are too large and go in the Prospect Box! And quite a few have slipped to the "baggy for lounging" corner of the closet: those are GREAT! Instant loungewear and exercise clothes that didn't realize were in the closet. :)

Leading a class team that starts a week from today. I wonder if this will be one of the super quiet groups or one of the active ones loaded with questions. If things are busy, I may not be posting much til it settles down. When I commit to a class team, I make it my priority; sometimes it's been like a full-time job with mandatory overtime! And. I love it when it's that busy. Answering newbies' questions and helping them find things does something really wonderful for MY motivation. Their energy jump-starts mine! lol

Have a lovely week!

Here we are into Summer, and the weather has been perfect for me. Love how it seems to rain a little nightly ! Saves me on watering the gardens.
Did well this week, but yet I have gained 2 pounds. I just don't understand how that happens.

When I moved back to Glens Falls, I was coming from a small apartment to a three bedroom home. I didn't have anything much. Before I knew it my Mom had moved back into the home and we had three households filling the space. It has taken me 30 years to get most of the stuff pared down and I'm still thinking that I have much to much furniture around me. When it comes to cleaning the place I find that if I don't move furniture I have not cleaned it well. It was great when we had some work done on the 200+ year old home I live in and we had to remove all the furniture out. I didn't want to bring stuff back in, but in it came !
Got that burning bush finished and in a couple of weeks I can start over trimming the bush again.
Have a great weekend and if you need help in July let me know. The weekend I have heard is going to be just like Thurs & Fri. Sure hope that is true.

Wow, that is fantastic, Kay! My activity level is WAY below yours. You really impress me with all you do! A few years ago I was doing between 7,000 and 12,000 steps/day, but have slipped to half the level. Suspect that getting shots in my knees might be wise.

In July I'm skipping my 3x weekly use of the physical therapy pool, because for the past two months doing this has been wearing me out (we're talking total lethargy afterward for 24 hours) and I've got so much to do that I know I can't do all I must if worn out from exercising in that nice, therapeutic hot water. It's a frustrating dilemma: I NEED the physical therapy pool exercise to avoid pain in knees and my fibromyalgia, but for the past several months I've been totally worn out afterwards... With so much to do in July-- helping my son who's hosting a family reunion for my dad's side of the family... and trying to somehow get my little apartment to be less cluttered! -- I know I have to skip the p.t. pool...

My Big Goal for July is to find a way to deal with having too much furniture in my apartment. Thought I'd pared down to the minimum, but moving from a house to an apartment sure changes perspective: when one lives with wall-to-wall furniture, one knows that something surely can not be 'bare minimum'!! Just can't figure out how to make it all WORK in this little space... Giving up things that have meaning and use? Not sure! So. July and probably August are devoted to turning this little apartment into something more aesthetically pleasing...even if I end up still wall-to-wall in furniture. Yikes.

Today's weather is downright glorious! I'm going out there to grab some sunshine!

Great Job SAM60SUMTHINK, doing a challenge seems to be a great form of motivation for me. I just love the monthly challenge that I do with the Spark Activities Tracker Team.
This month we had to walk 100,000 steps. It was completed last week and I may get over 200,000 steps by the end of the month if I keep walking my daily 8,000 steps. As for helping with my lawn that is okay, but would you like to come over and help with the weeds? We seem to be growing a bumper crop this year. Was talking with a neighbor the other day and she has manicured gardens, and she was complaining of the weeds that we have.
It is looking like another great day ahead. Hope that you enjoy yourselves !

You did a LOT of work today, Kay! I'm impressed!! That sort of work is history for me; sold my house and now rent. Mainly because I can't do the maintenance anymore. And how I miss the excuse t go outdoors. Loved yardward... even loved shoveling snow and called it 'my favorite winter exercise' because having to do it gave me an excuse to exercise. Shoveling snow when one is fit is like playing in the snow, adult form.

Today was the last day of a two-week challenge I did with the 55+ Females team.
I AM EXHAUSTED! I'm terribly out of shape even with all the years of pool exercise and home stretches from the physical therapist. I'd tried to keep up with this challenge... and DID... but it wore me out. Tonight I finally finished the last of today's four exercise videos and just sat here thinking, "I'm soooo glad it's over!"

During that challenge, I did enjoy many of the MANY exercise videos, and DID push myself. But. Too much. It's really hard to know how much to push when you have fibromyalgia because muscles don't 'get used' to exercise. Maybe I should start helping you mow your lawn! lol NOT. (sorry bout that) lol Once the weather is cool I know several videos that can be part of my cool-weather routine now.

What a great day. I have put in 10,000+ steps. Mowed the lawns and just about finished the burning bushes hair cut. What great exercise and the weather was just perfect !

Drove son Mike* down to the VA hospital for an appointment today and when I got out of the car (for the lonnnnnng walk! lol), the heat hit me as a surprise! 92 up here?!? Glad I didn't know the temperature down there before leaving. Funny, but not knowing how hot it really is seems to make it feel LESS hot..

*His back was hurting a lot and he didn't want to drive (or take the VA van), so he'd asked if I'd mind. It was nice to visit with him during the drive. Except that I thought I'd see how the Garmin would direct me (rather than just take the route I like and know well). So. We went through Arbor Hill, which is not necessarily ...scenic.

I'd love a ride on mower, but I don't think that my yard is big enough. Yet, my brother brings his over when he has had to take care of the yard work over at my place. I had to LOL when he told me that he had to get his ride on to do what I walk every week. If I had a rider, I'd go all over the hood for people.
As it is I usually mow my lawn, and the neighbors front yard. If it is a really good day for me, I will also do the one next to theirs. Only Front yards. It looks so nice when they are all done at the same time.
Today I put out a emoticon to see just how hot it was getting out side. My new central air had kicked on and I didn't think that I needed on. It was 92 in the shade. So I left it on!!!

Well! There ya go! lol

Several years ago I saw an ad for a push mower .... and it cost more than the average modern mower! On the other hand, years ago (again!) I saw one dilly of a sight! A man was out mowing his lawn in Albany/colonie (not sure where town line is). There he 'worked' - landscaping his teeny yard with less than 20x10' 'lawn' space - on a ride-on fancy-shmancy mower complete with lights for night mowing! It was still light out (sort of dusk) and he had the lights ON! It's really hard to focus on one's driving when encountering that sort of vision.

I have a hand push mower, but I don't use it very often.

Lol, Kay! That last walk is a nice strength exercise too if you use a push-mower! lol??

Today I went outside and just stood still for a minute before walking to my car. Just felt so good to stand there soaking in that sunshine and blue sky; yup, pure joy! Good thing I took that time, because rumor has it that clouds are rolling back into town tonight. Better rain than drought, though. We are fortunate.

Going down to Albany to the VA Hospital with my son tomorrow; he's got hearing loss from war and they're doing an ear check on him that might affect equilibrium so we're making this an opportunity to visit. Stratton is huge, so you can be sure I'll be wearing my pedometer! :)

Hope you all got a chance to soak in some of the sunshine!?

Nope, not me.
Not sure I'll ever do a walk (let alone race) in a crowd...

I always loved the Larac festival...until it got so crowded! Last went about 4 years ago; people litterally pushed me out of the way so they (adults!) could walk four abreast on the sidewalk. I had to grab a stranger's arm to avoid falling. As much as I've always loved all the crafts and the incredible talent they display, I can't take a chance of REALLY falling. Might try if it rains...?

Check out my blog of this morning. lol

Also. My sister sent me this link. And it made me think that I should ask people to look at it and ask themselves, "Am I a Daisy at heart... or a Cooper?" So... I could NOT avoid sharing it here! Enjoy:

I pray that this year we will not have any bad accidents like so many in the past. Used to hate this time of year when I was a nurse and working. It seems as if they just left a couple of months ago and not a whole year ago. Busy season begins for the Lake George Area. Woo Hoo Summer really is upon us now ! Next thing will be Larac up at City Park. Just love all those crafty people.
Thanks on the pound lost I have not logged it in, because I forgot to get on the scale this morning. Cleaned out the garage and finally put my snow blower away for the year. Did miss one snow shovel on the front porch I have this weekend covered for no snow. TeeHee Have a great week.
