Sheila, so happy for your son. He will do great!!

This morning I'm sitting here at work, getting excited because there is NO rain in the forecast. Can you believe it? A sunny day??? I am feeling so much better than I felt earlier in the week. I will run after work today for the first time since Sunday. I shouldn't even have run Sunday. That's what set me back and prolonged my crud.

Our daughter is getting married Oct. 1st, and she's trying to pick out wedding music. OMG, she picked out the WORST song EVER! She wanted John Denver's "Perhaps Love." Have you ever heard it? I texted her and told her it's the "suckiest song on the planet. Maybe even the suckiest song in the universe -- or beyond." The girl is 28 years old, and I'm pretty sure she knows every single song since the beginning of time (really, she knows her music). Why on earth would she even suggest that dreadful song?? LOL

I think between the rain the hectic schedule... I have not found time to work out... and that has added to the stress level. I have not been tracking and my weight is up a little too.

Today my son leaves for California. I am not worried about him at all... (which is actually amazing because I am very good at worrying... it is in my blood...) but I will miss him dearly... and I am incredibly proud... but I am sad for me... Thank goodness for Skype... and our vacation in Cali will be wonderful... meanwhile he will wow the folks at Cisco... I know he will and he will continue the amazing transformation he is making this year, from teen to adult....

I graduate on Sunday and am formally awarded my CAGS. Don't you think Sunday at 10 am is a weird time for a graduation? Makes church a little hard...

My b-in-l is in the best hands. He has a sinus infection which they need to get rid of before doing surgery because they don't want the infection to get into the site of the surgery... it is nearby. As I understand it, if you are going to have a brain tumor, this is the kind to have. It is in the meninges or the outer portion of the brain and the chance is 95% that it is not cancerous... but there are irregularities.

The stress at work continues... but I had one student meeting today and the boy just wowed me! He has a loving family but they do not do anything for him. He is independent. He lost 40 pounds which helped him gain confidence and now he is doing his work and has become a good student instead of a lump who sits around playing video games... he did this junior year, so he will have two years of good grades before college... such a happy story! I am asking guidance to help him more than the typical peers because he will need help with the college search... tough with parents who are observers instead of in action...

I am rambling... so off I go to watch my boy leave for the world of manhood... I will be more regular next week when the house is quiet... I will track every day... I will be back... meanwhile... I am always here on some level.... you sustain me! Thanks for being my friends...

emoticon

Wishing you well, Sheila

Jweri, what a hoot of a 'race'. Sounds like fun,.
You have taken on some new medication that could be helping you creep up on the scale. Don't worry about it.
She, congrats on your son. Bet he makes you proud.

Gosh, Joy. I think all the old people are kinda scared of us or something. They think we're a crazy, wild group, and I kinda-sorta have to agree.

LOL Suzy. My husband thinks I'm crazy. I'm planning to have a ton of fun with my oldest daughter. She will have to hoist my big old rear end over the tall wall, I'm sure. I'm good with all the other obstacles, but that wall, Ummmm... No way could I climb over it myself.

Funny, Jeri, my NH Spark team is going to a Renegade Mud Run on June 4th--3 competitors and a whole bunch of cheerleaders. I'll be a cheerleader only. No tire hopping, rope climbing, or mud sliding for this girl! Are you crazy, woman?? (Never mind. I know the answer, lol!)

My weight is creeping up, too. It's crazy. 10 lbs in the last 6 months. I weighed at the doctor today, and I was absolutely not happy. But I know what I have to do to get it off, and I'll do it. Period.

No, I'm not running a full marathon any time soon. I think my body just doesn't like that distance. I like Half Marathon or less. It's much kinder to me. My next race isn't until June 5th. It's a Warrior Dash -- climbing a cargo net, walking over junk cars and through tires, crossing logs, running through waist deep water, rappelling down a cliff, and jumping over fire. I can't wait!

Suzy, thinking most of us do have that "creep" now and then - sometimes even for no reason at all. But we know how, and have the tools here in SP, to get rid of them again! Sheila, thoughts and prayers go out for your brother-in-law. We haven't had time to get to the grocery store all week, so I am staying on track by force, since my cupboards are looking like Old Mother Hubbard's! Rain in the forecast for later today - hoping it holds off until I've had my walk!

Good Morning All!
Jeri, I'm glad you are on the mend; don't push it.
All suffering from SAD (lack of sunshine) I really think that having this full spectrum bulb over my computer area that Xena loves so well has helped. It's what they use for plant grow lights and I got it at the Co-op but I'm thinking Home Depot and plant stores would have them.
Shiela, prayers for Mark; that has to be scary. You hang in there, you're almost through the year; I remember how stressful this stretch is.
Sue, inching up?? Here I thought from "friend feed" reports that you were "inching down"! You will get past this; be good to yourself.
Yoga this morning. Back to routine schedule today and believe me; that's a "good" thing!
Be well everyone!

Neil Sedaka. Let's see. "Breaking Up Is Hard to Do"?? There! Just proved I'm over 45.

I'm glad you're feeling better, Jeri. Is it a full marathon this weekend? I've lost track.

Sheila, my prayers are going out for your BIL.

Well, I'm struggling. I admit it. The stress has caught up with me, and the rain has prevented me from getting my 5 miles far too many times. I'm having more wine than I should in the evening (and whine, too). My calories are right up at the top of or over the top of my range, and my weight is inching up. Time to get with the program, with a vengeance, or I'll have to depart a maintainers group! (Just kidding. I love you guys too much to leave.).

Good morning!! Guess what. I think I woke up feeling a little better! My nose is still stuffy, my right ear hurts and is stopped up, and I'm still coughing, but overall I feel like I've turned a corner. Yay!! I'm not running until Saturday, though. Gotta give myself time to get completely over it.

I had to laugh at American Idol last night. They introduced Neil Sedaka to the audience, and everyone clapped like they knew who he was. With my very unscientific poll done on facebook last night, nobody under the age of 45 had even heard of him!

It is 1:36 AM and I am doing my Spark page because I have to take the laptop to the repair shop and I will get it back Friday. Trying to make sure I don't loose a day. Do have a good Thursday. I will catch you on Friday.

I am a very easy going gal that loves people and wants to know as many as I can. I want to make new friends so I can enjoy more of life. When people get to 55 or 60 there are some that think life should be over but guess what it is just beginning. Maybe 50 years ago it was over but not now people are living longer and working in their 70's. I would have been if I didn't have leukemia and it does not stop me but I have good days and bad, so being home if I need rest, I rest, at work I couldn't do

Caz--great news on finishing floor and that it looks great. And no I have missed PlayBlues' upbeat notes!!

Oh, and I am definitely one person who has to see the sun some or I get very cranky and blue.

Jeri, wow, I sure hope you shed that cough and get to feeling better. I know it is wearing and tearing you down. So your extra time in bed resting yesterday didn't do the trick, huh.

Sheila, good news on son's grades. That makes us all proud, young people do care, and want to get ahead!!

I can empathize with those of you with the dreary, rainy weather. There's no doubt the lack of sunshine affects a person's mood!! I do know a few people who tell me they LOVE rain, but I'm certainly not one of them! Our growing season, too, is behind. We finally have had 3 days in a row of sunshine, but that is supposed to come to a halt tomorrow night, when several days of rain is predicted to start again! Still working on getting a couple pounds back off to be in the middle of my 5-lb maintenance range, but those pounds are being very stubborn!!!!!

Yes, Joy, I'm afraid that once it quits, there will be a drought. But right now this rain is affecting the farmers almost as badly. They can't get into their fields to do anything because it's just too darn muddy. We've hardly planted anything in our garden because we just can't get in to it to do anything! We rely heavily on our own food to get us through the winter/early spring. We only eat vegetables that we grow ourselves. We've been that way since the mid 80s. So this rain is very distressing just because it doesn't seem to quit.

Ahhh yes! But, all I have to do is remind myself about how bad the drought was and the damage it did; as long as it's not flooding, I'll take the rain. Jeri, stay positive; it is contagious! Sedonacat, sorry about the tick problem; that is awful. No problems with that here yet but I'll be on the lookout this wet weather is probably a boost for them! This will pass. emoticon

I'm getting really frustrated that I can't get my grass mowed which has to be done by Fri. I have an appt to get my yard treated for the tick epidemic I'm having. I'll have to cancel if the grass is still high. I'm picking ticks off the dogs daily and myself as well. Gross and dangerous.

This weather is getting to the point of ridiculous now. I want some sun, for more than a day! On the weather last night, they said we've only had 3 instances of 3 sunny days in a row since the beginning of the year. Maybe that's why everyone in my office seems to be in a perpetual bad mood. Or maybe it's just their personalities. I work with the crabbiest bunch of people, and I'm pretty sure it's affecting my ability to get over this crap. I am generally a positive person, but I work with the worst bunch of sour pusses ever.

Sorry Jeri; my weatherman is saying Fri. is the only day we get; then more rain Sat. and Sun. I hate that you can't take off work; I think it just wears you down and prolongs the cold. Not wise policy somewhere, sick employees create sick employees. They'd be so far better off to have a better sick leave policy. Getting back into routine here, had a fun weekend but it tires me more to be on the go but not exercising. New air conditioner is being installed today; hard to get excited about that when it's 40 out! Will be good to have it done. Lots to do. Be well everyone.

The new food tracker took me by surprise. It will take some getting used to, but I think it will speed things up. Seems there's alot of cold-type illness going around and people say it lasts for a long time. Hoping to avoid it! Feeling sleepy tonight so think I'll take my book and go to bed early.

Janet congratulations!! What a great report of lab. Your lab looks like you don't even have diabetes!! And your Cholesterol and break-down are really good!!! I'm sure your doc was amazed. I hope so!
Joy, be rested, get back into your routine and your fur-balls will only have YOU to play with!!
Jeri, I think bedrest just now is the right thing. Plenty of liquids and rest. That rain must be getting old. We've had cool 60, but sunshine and as you know that makes all the difference; but rain again (with warmer--near 80) by tomorrow night.

Today has not been the best day. I keep thinking I'm getting over this bug I've got, but today has knocked me back down. I coughed like crazy at work. People are starting to stare at me when I cough! So now I'm lying in bed being lazy, listening to the weatherman tell us how much our weather sucks. Seriously, rain through Thursday, nice Sat/Sun, and then back to rain. It's no wonder I can't quit coughing.

Good Morning All, I'm in recovery mode from the weekend; company left yesterday afternoon. Tired this morning. Waiting for the air c. guy to stop by with the proposal for signing and to give him the deposit check. Still suffering from sticker shock, even though I knew it was coming. Cold here; but without air that's better than hot! All is well.
Shiela, have fun today!
Caz, I love how you always have a plan for fitting your fitness into your days; I'm back on track there.
Be well everyone.

I'll have to watch out for that problem with the tracker that Brenda mentions. I hadn't noticed, but it would be a pain to discover you hadn't entered all your foods.

Morning Guys
I love the new tracker.
Wish there was a way to copy over ST exercise routines from one day to another as you can meals.
I do my multi gym twice a week and it's tedious putting it in exercise by exercise!
But hey- gotta hand it to SP...they're making great improvements!

Off to an appt for DH (just a check up with the nurse at the local surgery). The doc's is only 3 doors down from the hospice- so no walk down this morning. Bike me thinks and then I'll walk back after I've done my stint at the hospice.

Have a good one everyone emoticon

Hi all... stressful day today... work is a challenge... but I will be fine. Did eat a chocolate chip cookie or two... but otherwise made good choices. Tomorrow I am being treated to Red Sox game for my Mother's Day gift... Hope the rain holds up... Hope your Monday was merry!

Wishing you well, Sheila

I REALLY like the new food tracker. I think I can just go down, mark everything and enter. I did notice, in middle I had to add a new food and it canceled all the others I had checked; so there will be some learning how to, but the old way is there if needed!

We had sunshine today after a wkend of gloom and gray. So good to see it!! More expected tomorrow!

My plants survived the frost warning (I brought them all inside overnight). After planting, I got in a 3.2-mile walk. Good thing, because my neighbor brought me a piece of rhubarb torte last night. I was able to work it into my meal plan and it didn't lead to a binge on sweets, so I consider that a victory! Good day today so far - it helps that we had another sunny day. Two in row -- woo hoo! (still chilly in the low 60s, but I'm happy with the sun!)

I think it is easier to use.
