Pretty good, actually. Worked in the garden this morning, and washed windows this afternoon. Now, I'm tired but in a good "worked hard" way.

Morning all.
Feeling tired today; did not sleep well last night. Rain and dreary skies continue but cannot change the weather so just continue on.
CAZ Your 12 year old GD sounds just like me: loves to read, prefers to be by herself and loves to travel.
Those dealing with health issues, I hope things are resolved well and soon.
Will check back in later.

Good Morning All, Storms last night but all is well here. Glass on my deck has 5-6 inches of rain in it. Today should be fairly dry--once it drys out a little. Clear and pretty this morning and GGS is coming this morning while his Mom goes to the Dr. and Mom and Dad go house hunting. JERI, grandkids are definitely a day brightener! But, I understand your uneasy calm. It's like waiting for the other boot to fall.
CAZ, sounds like you are on the fast track! I'm glad, you deserve to be able to enjoy the spring and summer.
VERNA, I love reading your posts, they are like a relaxing deep breath at the end of the day. That was my first horse Babe, but I too started riding as a kid bareback around the yard on my uncle's draft horse.

I was in college when I got my favorite, a small spirited Arabian. By then I had some skill and lived where there was beautiful places to ride without having to trailer him.

I bought the buckskin for my brother; he took care of them and we enjoyed being able to ride together or with others. Worked for us. Loved that time.
PATTI, I hope your keyboard problem is resolved. Last one I had was from either Xena or GGS hitting an F key. If all else fails you may try hitting each one.

Good weigh in today. Feeling good. Antibiotic is working and not giving me any trouble. Stay well everyone.

Good morning!
Caz, so glad you're getting it done sooner rather than later!

I'm tired! My sister isn't being a pain in the rear right now, but she has nowhere to live. So who knows how long she will be staying with us?! And my niece seems to have adjusted her own attitude. Right now our days are calm. Crowded, but calm. This evening I'm taking my granddaughters to get manicures. They are 12 & 14 yrs old. It should be fun. And Saturday I'm taking the 12 yr old to get a dress for the 7th/8th grade formal. She's the kid who is closest to my way of thinking. She reads, she would rather be by herself than follow the crowd, she likes to travel. We've always connected. She requested that our dress shopping trip be just me and her. She knows how to win my heart.

Morning Guys
I hope everyone is in good spirits today.
Joy and Susan hope you feel better hun.
Susan glad you and your daughter are closer. Good to see you posting again.
Verna Hope all goes well today

Well I'm on the waiting list now to have my stimulator replaced- they even did the MRSA test yesterday and took bloods and other readings to speed the process along. SO it looks as though the error Dr Dilan made in not setting my patient control device ( that would have allowed me to chose my setting in a given window) has meant things will move along faster. Everything happens for a reason emoticon They said is should be a matter or weeks rather than months and months- which surprised me!

Cat, I hope everything went well for you today and also for you Caz.

Mayie nice to see your post again. I hope your weather clears up and doesn't rain every day that you have flyers to deliver. Neither rain nor sleet nor snow isn't that how the postal packing persons jingle goes?? I can't even send you any nice weather cause we are cool and windy too with frost being called for tonight.

Susan glad your "dental procedure induced" headache is gone. A nap can do wonders for many things. Have a good day tomorrow with your mom.

Joy I love your horse. We had a white once too and he was such a pet and could run like the wind. Very cow smart, in fact saved DH's life a couple of times when he was rounding up and a bull got nasty in one instance and the other was when a cow decided to charge. Good thing his cowboy skills were up to date!! When I was in grade school I rode bareback. There was a barn to put her in when it was cold and in the spring/summer we would tie her out so she could graze all day. There were times that she got loose and went home without me. Brat! She was extremely frightened of trains and we had to cross the tracks every day. If there was one coming, even if it was miles away she would freeze and not move until the train had passed, literally shaking from fear. I would get off and stand at her head. I think it comforted her somewhat.

DH and I have lab work tomorrow and I'm hoping DS can come out and hang some doors. He has completed the framing for one house and has another to start on Thursday, which is great news considering our economy at the moment. I'm not in a big rush to finish downstairs. He will do it as time allows and that is fine with me.

Well, I marched off to Curves earlier today and then went downstairs to tackle the drywall dust. First I moved the dryer and washer and cleaned up in that room, then got on with the vacuuming. In my rush to get it all done in one day I accidentally knocked a shelving unit which tipped and made two nice holes in that new drywall. Luckily I had some powder from a few years ago when I did the den, so I mixed up the goop and half filled the hole. Will take 3 applications likely to fix it. Guess that's what you call a "Make work project!" Anyway, I got it all done and now I have a killer backache. Epsom salts relaxation bath as soon as I finish here and do the dinner dishes.

And on that note, I'm gonna end. Sending everyone wishes for a great day tomorrow.

Hello everyone,

my day started off with a trip to the dentist after breaking a tooth Friday night when I was flossing. I think I had cracked it the week prior when I bit into a hard candy while on my walk. I usually like to have a candy to suck on to keep my mouth moist but I accidentally bit it and it ended up costing me a trip to the dentist chair. Thank goodness for coverage.

I just finished a 5.5 mile power walk with Tyson and we were going at a pace of 4 miles per hour. He sure is a resilient little guy. Hubby and I went out to Tim Hortons for dinner and just had a chicken salad sandwich. I have not been feeling my best for a few days now in spite of pushing myself to keep up with the power walking.
I actually had a nap this afternoon but only because the freezing came out of my mouth and it gave me a headache as well as jaw and gum ache. Feeling much better now however.

Mayie glad to hear you had a nice Mother's Day. Relationships with our children seem to blossom the moment they leave home. I think it's because we look at them as our peers other than our children then. They appear to be more grown up and as the old cliche goes "absence makes the heart grow fonder"

Joy, I hope your UTI is short lived. Cranberry juice helped me the one and only time I felt one coming on. Oh you were such a lucky girl to have horses. When we lived in New Zealand my dad was going to buy me one but we ended up returning to Canada after 3 years and back to the city. I took English riding lessons when I was in high school and loved it.

CAT hope your procedure went well. All I can say is glad it wasn't me. I can't swallow anything that has a blecky taste or I vomit.

Patti, hope your keyboard recovers. Did you spill something on it? Sometimes stuff gets caught under the keys (especially mine) so you can lift them off and give it a good vacuuming or clean with cotton swabs. Hopefully it isn't something serious that needs you to replace it.

Verna, I am very certain that my ultra sound results will show that I am in A-1 shape and no concern needed. Thank you for caring however.

I take my mom for blood work in the morning so won't be posting until evening.
Tomorrow is also my hubby's 64th birthday so I made him a chocolate cake as requested and we will barbecue chicken and corn on the cob.

I am off now so I can get caught up with other teams. Wishing everyone a great evening and an awesome day tomorrow.

Good morning. Today will be especially challenging as the weather does not look promising for the next few days. Only 52 degrees at the moment and it's grey, windy and showering. Today is the first of three flyer delivery days and the weather always plays a significant role in determining how quickly this gets done, not to mention how it affects my mood.
Had a late Mother's Day dinner with daughter yesterday. Our relationship is much much better since she moved out, better for both of us. Absence does seem to make the heart grow fonder.
Wishing you all a terrific Tuesday.

Good Morning All, Thoughts and prayers are with you this morning; so many headed out to medical procedures! Seems, like everything hits in the spring! Or, do we plan it that way to avoid getting out in the winter? Maybe. I'm in today with a UTI, but started antibiotics yesterday and doing fine. Stormy day here and a good time to catch up inside.

CAZ, I hope all goes well in London and you get some concrete, positive answers.
Susan, step by step; you are doing great!
CAT, What can I say? Rest and relax this afternoon and I hope all is well.

Verna, My you have a lot going on! I hope it's under control by the time the outside is calling with full spring vigor! Life on a farm is a lot of work outside and everything inside must still be done; not to mention it means a trip when you need anything! As a kid, ours was not a working farm but I did have horses and a big garden; loved living in the country.

Susan, thoughts and prayers remain with you on this journey with your son.

Patti, I hope your eboard issues are fixd ; I know how frudtrating that is!

Be well everyone! Love ya!

Hi guys
a quick fly past as we're off to London soon.
Joy loving all the pics you post. Such a wonderful family you have. You look tiny against DS and DD.
Susan hope your appt goes well.
Verna I love having several projects on the go. If I don't feel like working on one there is always another awaiting my attention. We ordered the cabinet wood etc for the lounge cupboards Pete is making and we've settled on a real wood top from a local source. It'll cost,,,,,,,,,but it will be a job well finished. Nothing less than I expect of DH......perfectionist. Good luck with the clearing up and your appts.

Right! I'd better get my butt in gear and get going, see you tomorrow! emoticon

Cat you are very dedicated to fast. I could never do that for fear of ripping someone's head off cause I get quite grouchy when hungry!! Good for you with making your own jello, I've done it a time or two and quite liked it.

Jeri, I hope you are able to come to a satisfactory arrangement for your neice and sister to get out on their own. The mom of your niece needs to take responsibility of her own daughter. As Susan said "Sometimes decisions we make have to be with OUR own best interests. There is only so much and for so long that we can take care of other peoples problems before we burn out." Susan says "not my problem, not my worry." and I say "Not my monkey not my parade" and so far I haven't offended anyone by saying that!!!

Joy you sure look tiny between your son and daughter. They are indeed very tall. Great smiles too!!

Susan I hope your lymph glands remain stable and that your white count remains normal as well. You were nicely pampered on Mother's Day. What a treat!

The drywall tapers were here today and finished sanding so I can get started on the cleanup any time now. Maybe tomorrow cause I don't really have the energy today. DH and I made another trip to the recycle centre and will be taking a trip to the dump tomorrow cause I started cleaning out the garage on Saturday!!! I have so many irons in the fire I'm not sure if I will get all the "half done" jobs completed this year!! One thing for sure, this way I am going to be done everything in about the same time. LOL And I won't get bored doing the same thing.

DH and I have lab tests to do on Wednesday, doctor appointments next Wed. my brother is arriving next Thursday. We will be travelling 2 hours south of home on the weekend to watch my bros grandson play baseball. He is attending school in Vauxhall, Alberta where there is baseball training (he is 17 and can pitch in the 90's) I am having a lovely mammogram on the 27th. And oh yeah I want to get the garden planted before the long weekend too. Hmmm maybe I won't get much cleanup done in the basement after all.

Well, I have dinner dishes to do and ginger snaps to make so am going to run for now. Have a great Tuesday everyone that's my intention for sure!

hello all,
I'm home from a few days visiting with my girls and their boyfriends; always nice to spend time there. I miss them a lot.
As I caught up on posts, I was struck ----again--- how everyone has challenges and how we strive to do and be the best possible. It is helpful to know we are not alone, not "weird", and that others are willing to be there so we can vent when we need to.
Jeri, you are top of my mind at the moment and I hope that your kind heart will be sincerely appreciated as you care for your relatives. Unfortunately, we can't choose our family and it is hard to know what to do. My mom always said that blood is thicker than water and I struggle with not being close to my brothers but I know that I can only do so much. My own sanity often demands that I distance myself from them. emoticon
Take care.

Lynette

An early greeting from me today. I am fasting so trying to pace myself through the day. Did you know you can make jello from fruit juice and unflavored gelatin? Don't know why I never figured that out before! I bought some white cranberry juice and made some. It is excellent, and cheaper than the boxes!
Went to the gym this morning then a quick 3.25 mi walk before the sun takes over.
Hope everyone has a great day.

Hello everyone,

I was so tired last night that I didn't get a chance to come back and post. It was a great time yesterday spent with my daughters. Both my sons were not feeling well and the one had to work later than scheduled even though he was ill because he is the boss.

Hubby and my grandson cooked dinner for me and set the table and did the dishes and all I had to do was sit down and enjoy. Had barbecued steak and baked potatoes with salad which was wonderful.

Going to have my last ultra sound (I hope ) on my pelvis to make sure my lymph glands are remaining stable. The last ultra sound revealed they were enlarged but my white count is normal so I am not concerned in the least.

Joy you almost look like a Lilliputian standing next to your children. My mom always makes fun of me being so much shorter than my husband and one son who is 6ft 3ins ( ai am only 5 ft 2 ins) Your children are lovely and I can see by the smile on your face you are very proud of them.

Jeri, I empathize with you and you need to do what you need to do. Sometimes decisions we make have to be with OUR own best interests. There is only so much and for so long that we can take care of other peoples problems before we burn out.

I have gone through this with kids moving back and forth over the years as well as grand kids.
Two years ago I changed my thought processes and stopped enabling everyone. I told them my husband and I were wanting to enjoy our retirement without having to hear about everyone else's drama which is not our problem or business.

I pray your family will be restored to harmony so you can find happiness within it and without anyone's drama to stress you out.

I know I am much happier at most times although we still see drama from time to time. But....we don't stress half as much anymore with the attitude "not my problem, not my worry"

I hope everyone has gotten off to a great start of the week and will continue to have sunshine and smiles .

Smiles. They make me feel like a kid! I have lost 2" with aging and gone from 5'6", which was considered tall when I was a kid, to 5'4". But DD is 6'2" and DS is almost 7'; he ducks going through doorways. Was fun when he'd pop in to see me when I was still teaching in middle school! ;) GGS likes being up there with grandpa too; especially if there are ceiling decorations. When he paints, there are no ladders in the way!

I hope you can make arrangements and get your house back to being your home. Difficult, I know, thoughts and prayers for you all. Hugs.

Joy, I thought you were a kid with them!! You're so tiny!

My yesterday was not so great. I'm not big on Hallmark holidays, but I wish the day had just generally gone better. I cannot deal with my niece at my house anymore. And I can't deal with my sister. It all came to a head Friday, and right now I just really want to live in our house with only me, my husband, and my dogs. No extras!!

The Early Bird this morning Patti! Good Morning!

Had a nice day yesterday; kind of a lazy day but did keep my May goals intact. Got a raincheck from DS on dinner. I think GGS's party wiped us all out. Partly the anticipated drama that did not happen. Such is life. Was a good weekend. Have I mentioned I raised a family of giants? Picture is DS and DD at GGS's party:

OMG, Joy. Those GS pics are adorable. And think, you will never have to hire a dirt moving contractor again!! Can you imagine the fun he will have in your big yard with this new shovel?
The weather has turned here and is about 15 degrees cooler with a very fine mist. We are heading out to a Mustang (car) show and like last year it will be wet and windy and somewhat miserable for everyone.
Happy Mother's Day to all you mom's and grandmom's.

Fun party yesterday; two families decided on separate parties. Not my call but did make it nicer for us; no drama. Not sure what it does to a two year olds future expectations. Have to share; be patient with me: emoticon

Thinking now, there will be no getting him back to the party without a fuss!

This worked!

Joy, Susan and Jeri sorry your families are in such turmoil right now, lucky they have you all at the helm steering the course for the better. Sending my love and prayers to you all.
Verna you can actually buy a mold resistant solution to add to any paint now for kitchens and bathrooms or "cold" rooms. The blue in our loft is called Tidal Wave, it almost has a tinge of lilac in it, like a bluebell. Have to say its dried darker than we'd hoped but it is lovely nonetheless. Hope you feel better today.
Joy sorry to have disappointed you yesterday LOL_ could have sworn I'd checked in. emoticon

May welcome to the chat thread hun, hope to see you more, glad you're doing so well and enjoying some peace for yourself.
We don't bite emoticon emoticon I try to check in every morning but sometimes get distracted and miss. Like Anne said we're both in England. I live by the North Sea coast and am a few minutes from the beach- so morning walks are my passion, taking in the noises of the sea and gulls. Wonderful way to start the day. I don't have any children and Pete and I are blessed with good friends. It would be lovely to hear more about you and your day, so please keep coming here.
Anne loving the new trainers. Pink is a favourite colour of mine too.
Was wonderful here yesterday too........YES sunbathed emoticon emoticon
Jeri good run! Goof luck with your next marathon. How many have you run now?
Patti I hope you enjoyed the concert. What was it?
Cat hammock time........love that idea!! LOL

Beach walk today, a light workout then hitting the sun lounger emoticon

Susan, I've got the Hatfield-McCoy Marathon coming up on June 11th. It's not going to be a fast race. I'm running with a friend who is coming from Missouri. He is slower than I am, so I will stay with him the whole time. His wife is a walker, and she is starting at the "2nd Half" (they offer two half marathons -- the first half, and the second half), so she should finish around the same time we do.

Hello everyone,

welcome MAYIE, so nice to have you join this lovely group of ladies.

I have been working in the garden with hubby today transplanting a couple of plants so we can get the steps moved out. I am leaving the peony bush until I have an exact date that the contractors will be coming to move the porch and steps so they can work. I am very skeptical about the peonies surviving but will be hoping for the best.

Jeri, that was a good long run this morning. Are you preparing for a full marathon or do you just enjoy the distance? I am so longing to run again but my pain remains intact so I will be stuck with power walking only until the fall or even next year.

Verna, I just love the stories of your farm friends. IN my next life I want to live on a farm with all those animals. I wanted it in this life but alas, hubby is a city boy. I can't complain because I have been extremely happy married to Brian for almost 39 years now after a disastrous short lived first marriage.

Anne, I love the new pin shoes, they look so light weight and comfy.

Joy enjoy the light of your life at your little GGS's birthday party. I'll just bet he will be the sunshine of the party as he is just as sweet as he can be.

Well, I better go as my pooches are looking for dinner. I cooked them up some fish and broccoli with green beans and sweet potato for a treat tonight. I put a bit of that on their sry feed and you would think they were starving to death.

Going to my mother's after dinner to give her a mother's day gift and to have tea. I have my kids coming here tomorrow so have to spread ourselves around. We will visit Brian's mom in the later morning before my kids arrive.

A Happy Mother's Day to all the ladies here who have children and fur babies and kids that are just like your ownchildren.

Hi Mayie So glad you could join us. Nice that you are enjoying your daughter and her bf's moving in with you. I can't say I would like that, I enjoy my own space too much!! Great that you are happier which means you aren't depressed. It's a win win for you.

Anne I love your new pink shoes and hope they are good to your feet!! I don't think that color would be good for me on the farm though!!

Joy have fun at the birthday party. Your GGS will be in his glory today with the focus being on him and his presents. Seems divorces are the new normal. It makes it so much easier if everyone puts away their hurts and anger and just get along at least while in the presence of each other!!! I too am divorced and remarried and there can be a lot of drama from time to time. Heck there can be a lot of drama among blood relatives LOL

DH went to a casino in Calgary where there is horse race betting. Simulcast I think they call it!! I woke up with a brutal headache about 6 a.m. with sore throat extending into my right ear so decided it was best for me to stay home. I can be quite a bear when I'm not feeling well. Took Vita C and Echinacea and a couple aspirins and am hoping for the best!! So far aspirin hasn't touched it so might have to go to town and buy some bigger guns!!!

Last night Hannah left the pasture and came to the yard. Little brat. Bruno and both nurse mamas were calling her so I think eventually she would have made her way back. I made up a bottle of milk replacer thinking I could entice her to go back through the fence where it was evident she came through. DH and I cornered her and forced her through the fence and Bruno was right there!! He, being the piggy, was all over the bottle and Hannah did decide to have some too. I'd say they shared the bottle equally. DH and I fixed the fence and it appears that she has stayed in the pasture. . . at least she isn't on my doorstep at the moment!! If either one of those 2 forgets me it will be Hannah. Bruno actually adores me and I believe it is because I was the first one to get my hands on him, rub and talk to him and when mama was to traumatized from her C Section to love him I was all he had for quite a few weeks and he milked it for all it was worth!! Hannah was a rescue baby when she was about 2 hours old. Her mom was really nasty to her and if DH and I hadn't intervened she would have been killed. Odd how some moms are.

Well, I need to do a few things before the "Derby" comes on.

Have a great Saturday everyone.

Mom is taking a bath and baby is thinking what the heck!! Taken a few years ago. No foals here now.

Mayie, welcome!!!! I totally get the family thing. Really. My niece is 33 years old with cerebral palsy, and she lives with us. While she is not really trouble to have around, it would be nice to have our house back to ourselves!! We just had quite a bit of drama yesterday, as my sister also just showed up with no place to live a week ago. I am very, very ready for a house to myself. Enjoy yours!!

I ran 14 miles this morning. It was supposed to be 18, but asthma got the best of me. Everyone is mowing their lawns, and all that crap flying through the air just did me in. Around mile 13 I took two puffs of my inhaler, and I was feeling weak, so I figured I'd go home. About 1/4 mile from home, I had to sit on my nephew's front lawn and use my inhaler again. Anyway, 14 miles is more than most people do, so I can't complain too much. I've been running some serious mileage lately, and I think my body just rebelled.

Mayie nice to see your post. I enjoy been a member of the group although I have struggled at times to call myself a maintainer. The group is motivating and I love to read about people's day to day ups and downs. We share our families and anyone is made to feel welcome. I do not post every day but do try and dip in. Caz an I are in England so we are on a different time zone .
Joy hope it was a good birthday party with no family dramas
Beautiful weather for us this weekend did a morning run but was a struggle more of a shuffle feet were sore DH insisted it was my shoes so he came with me and I have new pink ones

Thanks to Verna for inviting me to stop by this thread. I admit that I have been somewhat intimidated since you all seem to know one another and I find it hard to be the new kid on the block. Well, here goes. Lately I find myself feeling quite a bit happier, far less stressed. My 24 year old daughter moved in with her boyfriend about 6 weeks ago. It's still surprising to me how much easier my life has become. I no longer have to take my stomach upset meds. I can sleep in if I want or stay up late. It's soooo much more peaceful without the arguments and the drama.
Even she noticed that I seem much more cheerful and she had been convinced that I was going to "fall apart" without her to look after me. Life is good today. Hope you are all doing well and I will stop in again later.

Where is everyone this morning?? Good Morning! Busy day here today too; no gardening. There will be a big family party for GGS's second birthday; he's a heart winner! Really hope it goes well. Complicated with divorced grandparents, daddy and new daddy and their families, etc. I think his mom's goal is to unify everyone. Not going to happen. Frankly, I'll be glad when it's over but can't not be there for him. How I long for the 50's. emoticon

Jeri your profile pic is gorgeous. Sure wouldn't know by looking at it that you have all that drama in your life. Your heart is huge for others, I hope it is huge for yourself as well, that you are taking good care of yourself. I hope your sisterS appreciate you and all that you do for both of them. Your "Tween" is giving you a run for your money right now; praying things settle down today if not sooner!! Vent away girl that is one of the reasons we are here.

Joy, I am so glad you are in your GGS's life to add some stability to it. Not to mention all the love you shower on him. He will never ever forget you and the wonderful times he has had with his GGM.

Susan, I have trouble going to sleep some nights too and sometimes I am still awake at dawn as well. I try to shut my thoughts off and lately have been playing a soothing CD. Seems to work so far and DH falls asleep instantly AS USUAL!!! I wonder how the male gender is able to do that!! I am praying you are a match for your son. I had a kidney removed in 2000 and will be praying for a speedy recovery for you when and if you donate.

I went to Curves this morning and missed the drywallers. Have no idea what they did or didn't do. I would say it wasn't dry enough to do any sanding so we wait for Monday. (I didn't feel like dusting and vacuuming anyway LOL)

I am praying for rain for Fort Mac too and also for the safety of all the firefighters. Prayers for the firefighter and his family who lost their 15 year old daughter in a car accident while getting out of town. So sad.

I spent most of the day outside. Repotted some of my geraniums I wintered in our master bedroom which has south facing patio doors. I started hardening them for a few days now and they are looking lovely. I think I have at least a dozen large ones, full of buds.

We sent Bruno, Hannah, Bessy and Betsy out to pasture. They will love the green grass and I'm hoping the nurse mamas will put on some weight. Bruno was putting on a performance on his way out of the pen again!! Hannah was dancing around too. Both of them ran up to the house, don't know what that was about but thankfully both came back when I called them!! I hope they don't forget about me. The pasture is just a stones throw from the yard and as a rule everyone comes "home" in the evening. Don't know why that is but every year is the same. They must feel some comfort or safety when they are close to buildings. I will keep everyone posted as to Bruno and Hannah's goings on!!

Caz I am painting the "New" bathroom a pale blue and there is such a thing as "baby blue" paint. I got a 4 litre pail and fully expect to have to do 2 coats as the drywall is a slate blue color-apparently it is made specially for kitchens and bathrooms where mold can be expected.

Judy I hope your heel is getting better. PF is very painful I understand and hard to get rid of. Several friends have had it as well as my son and they all tell how awful it is.

I have a few things to do outside yet so shall end for now. Hope everyone has a good weekend planned and Happy Mother's Day to all . (just in case I don't get back online)

emoticon JERI, You accept Kristin for who and how she is and that's a greater blessing than she will find anywhere else. Even if she never realizes it. I'm glad the woman checking on her status recognizes that.

One of the reasons, besides loving him, that I give so much time to GGS is that he's living in craziness. Kids don't have choices when the adults responsible for them are making bad ones; or at the very least confusing ones. My DGD is doing the best she can but it's a crazy confusing world out there. As you well know! All we can do is the best we can to protect those that can't protect themselves. One day at a time.

And... in a new twist to my family drama, my husband just called me at work because Adult Protective Services showed up to check on Kristen! I spoke with the woman for quite some time on the phone while she was at my house. She said she realizes we are doing really well for Kristen, and that Kristen cannot live on her own. Oh.Em.Gee... The emotional drama of a tween girl is too much!!! She told the librarian that she's miserable, and the librarian apparently called social services! While talking to the librarian about her troubles, Kristen was all, "I don't want to live!" Anyway... I explained to social services that Kristen's past has been an issue in all this drama, and that she has been uncooperative with every health service that has ever tried to help her, and that she was discharged by a Home Health agency for refusal to cooperate with even the smallest things (like bathing). The Home Health agency is the one who said, "take her in your home, or we'll get the state to place her." I told her how Kristen has started eating well, she goes for walks, talks to people while she's out, takes pictures of things, doesn't have panic attacks or constant stomach issues anymore. She said it sounds like we let her do what she wants to do. I said, yeah! She does do whatever she wants! She just doesn't want us to tell her to not let her hair flop in her food, and stuff like that! She doesn't want correction in any aspect of her life! The woman seemed pleased with Kristen's situation, so I guess we won't need to deal with them anymore. I have no idea what Kristen told that librarian, but I wish with all my heart that Kristen could be a fully functional adult. And I wish I could sock my sister in the nose. For real.

Good Morning Ladies,

well I did sleep last night but it wasn't a slam dunk. It took a while tofall asleep and it was a bit fitful.
At 8:00 am we had the flooring guy who was here to fix a worn area in our kitchen linoleum and now it looks awesome again.

CAZ, you are so right. The transplant has my mind occupied 90% of the time now and after the 25th I will find out for certain if we are proceeding . THis si the day they do the cross match of my son's and my blood. If there is a negative reaction, we move forward and then I will have the dye run through my body to see my kidney function.
I do hope your problem will be soon resolved with your implant stimulator.

Joy, I hope your rain is gone soon. You have had some levely weather latelybut now withrain it sure puts a "damper" on things. WE have sunshine today and it is to reach around 70F which is the best news ever for us. Ithas been a while coming.

Jeri, my heart gpoes out toyou and your family.
I thought my family was the only one that has drama like this. If I ever got started it would make everyone shake their heads and say "whaaaat!" Always have drama in some shape and form just when we least expect it. do hope you will get some peace soon because your life deserves to be stress free.I give you kudos for your compassion with your niece and taking care of her. This is so heart warming to hear..God bless your dear heart

Hi Patti and all others who are dropping in.

I am headed out with my oldest daughter soon for a girls day. Have to take my son for ultra sound first on his shoulders. His family doctor feels it may not be diabetic neuropathy and if so this would be wonderful because he can get off the Gabapentin and onto something that will actually take away the pain he has had for about 5 years now.

I wish you all a great day.

emoticon Yes, I do know! Bless you JERI, take one day at a time. I don't know your sister's situation but your niece has done very well with you for several years now.

I don't have an answer for you. My son may soon need a place and we've talked about it. I've offered, but with the agreement it would be for an agreed on length of time; not a forever move. Both of us like our own time and space. I could not live with any of my siblings. But, that said, we do what we must; never know what life is going to throw at us. Vent here anytime. emoticon

Good morning!!! It's a beautiful day today, and I'm watching a killdeer pecking at the ground, gathering food for her babies. I slept in today (til 6:00am) just because I was super tired!

Did I tell you about my sister suddenly moving in with us? So hard to deal with, honestly. She's older than I am, but I feel like I've been taking care of her since I was 14 and she was 18. I should have said no when she asked, but I didn't. Stupid on my part, I know. Anyway... My niece (not her daughter, my other sister's daughter) lives with us, too. She has cerebral palsy and gets around with a walker or cane. She has normal intelligence, but the emotional maturity and decision making skills of a tween girl. She will forever be 12. She's lived with us about 4 or 5 years, I can't remember exactly how long. With tween girls, there is always some kind of emotional drama. She has a "boyfriend" online, and it took me a few years to realize he doesn't even exist! He's very real to her, but she is being hoodwinked by a woman who says she lives in Norway and is a psychic medium who allows this guy to channel through her. Yeah, go figure. Her online boyfriend is an Egyptian ghost! To her he is very, very real. I'm pretty sure he's a girl named Megan in Illinois, because she had the same type of experience about 10 years ago and that's what it turned out to be. Right after 14 yr old Megan with her "Japanese cousin" got outed for being Megan (and not a Japanese man), suddenly the Japanese guy died in a crash and Megan disappeared from the internet. Then came the Norwegian woman (I can't remember her name) with an Egyptian ghost alter ego. Anyway, my niece believes this Egyptian ghost is the love of her life, even though he's just a spirit. She refuses to believe it's a crazy chick! This has been going on for years!!!
So, my sister moves into the house this past Saturday, and by Monday she was already causing problems because she's just a hot mess of an old lady. I woke up at 4:30 Monday morning and was out the door by 5:00 in order to work out. Then I worked all day, and went to see my dad before I got home at 6:30pm. It was a long day, and I just wanted to relax. Instead, my husband met me at the driveway and said, "Teri and Kristen got into an argument, and Kristen went for a walk hours ago and won't answer her phone." Ugghhh. So I had to go find her. I called her, and she answered the phone for me. She'd been at the library crying to the librarian who is her friend. She went on and on about Teri being mean to her, and how she wants to live in her own place again (which was disastrous before), and how her boyfriend broke up with her and it hurts her so much that her chest physically hurts. She said she doesn't want to exist anymore. So the librarian called a counselor, and he set up an appointment for her. She went to the counselor the next morning, and he called me to get some info about her insurance and guardianship, etc. I told him the details, and then I told him to make sure Kristen tells him the truth about her boyfriend. I gave him the details on how he does not exist except in some crazy chick's head.

Anyway... That's my life right now. It's a mess, and full of drama. I wish grown people would take care of themselves (my sister), and I wish my niece could go live with her mama. Unfortunately, her mom is in selfish mode right now, and only cares about herself. Honestly, I want to go on vacation until my sister leaves my house. And I want Kristen to realize she's brokenhearted over nothing.

I did actually take Kristen to the gym with me yesterday, and I got her exercising to build up some strength in her legs and core. She did well, and that was a big accomplishment for her!

I know, I wrote a book here. Just venting a little bit. Sometimes life isn't sunshine and lollipops, you know.

Good Morning All, Challenging day yesterday to meet my May goals to post this morning. Cold, dreary and was tired from the highly motivated work in the rain day before. I did go to the garden center and pick up some bags of mulch and topsoil. Bugs me that I still need help getting them and loading them in the car. But, I was able to unload them and distribute them around the garden close to where they will be spread; which I will work on this afternoon. Bit by bit the yard is shaping up. Me too!
JUDY-Both my DD's have suffered with plantar fasciitis. One thing they both agree on is that they had to have their feet in supportive shoes EVERY TIME their feet hit the floor; even if it was a trip to the bathroom in the middle of the night. My barefoot gal, it took longer than the one that was dedicated and consistent to that; she kept her supportive athletic shoes right next to the bed. The other got some relief from wearing supportive compression socks; she prefered toeless, she's also a Croc fan. But it takes a long time. I know the challenges of not being able to be active and controlling your weight! First things first. I hope it does resolve without extreme measures.
CAZ-Hoping for the best resolution for you too; keep us posted.

One thing for sure, anyone here that does have something going on meets it head on! WTG! No complainers or whimps here. You ALL are an inspiration!

Prayers for Canada this morning, the news on the fires and evacuating the already evacuated!
I just cannot even imagine. When out West visiting in WA I had trouble breathing when the forest fires were too distant to be a threat; the smoke hangs everywhere!

Chilly this morning but high 60's this afternoon, early evening meeting my library friends for supper--been awhile. It will be so good to see them. Looking forward to a great weekend.

Morning all
Sorry I didn't post yesterday, don't know how that happened!!.
Judy hope your heel soon heals.......pun intended, Enjoy retirement- it's takes a while but you;ll have time to anything you want but find the days go by in an instant.
Jeri you look incredible! Love the new pic.
Joy I got Pete to give me a hand yesterday in the garden. It was so lovely, once we'd voted in the local elections, we came back and tackled the herringbone path that leads around the garden to the garage to rid it of moss. Great team work, I scraped and he brushed off and sprayed some moss killer. We hope we've timed it right weather wise as the weekend is set to be hotter than the med and it needs 3 days!
Anne great to flash some flesh at last huh LOL
Verna it's just awful, saw it on the news. Frightening. Those poor people losing everything, my heart goes out to them.
Cat finished sanding hun, yes, ceilings and walls all painted white now and waiting a soft blue on the walls to finish it off. (painted the walls white first to act as an undercoat)
It's coming along!! emoticon
Susan when I saw on your feed yesterday that you weren't sleeping well I thought it might be the stress about the organ donation playing on you mind among other things.
You will get through this, we're all here to support you, so vent if you need to and lean on us emoticon

Lovely day here again today, just shopping to do but getting a walk in first. Not doing so good walking again so just a shortie.
Roll on Tuesday- going back to the hospital to get a step near to being sorted out again. There is fluid on the stimulator I've been told and they will try a different method of controlling the current! See my blog if you want the low down, I'll not put chapter and verse here

it's been one busy day here with us just finishing up with painting the kitchen. Flooring guys are coming at 8:00 am to fix a worn area in our linoleum and then the kitchen will be complete. Going to give the floor a pick me up with a waxing.

The earlier part of this day was cloudy and cool but the sun came out this afternoon and it turned out warm and awesome. When I walked the dogs after dinner I only had to wear my sweatshirt and a pair of Capris. WE got almost our regular 3 miles in and I let the dogs take their time a little longer as my legs were sore from yesterday.,

Jeri, I love the new profile picture of you. You look so young and fresh and vibrant.

Joy love that pic of your GGS, he looks like he is not too happy about being with kitty. So cute!
I am certain you had a great day with him today.

Anne, glad to see you are getting nice weather and able to get out and enjoy the park

Verna, it is so awful what is happening out there with the fires. I have seen so many terrifying pictures and wonder if our Prime Minister will send out the troops to help all of the people who have had to evacuate their town and lost all of their possessions and homes.
I see your renovations are coming along like ours. Spring time sure brings out the busy bees in us all.

Judy, hope your heel will heal soon so you can enjoy walking again. Retirement is awesome and you will be surprised just how busy it can be as well. Both hubby and I are retired and busier than we ever were when we did work it seems

CAT, I would love to do whale watching. Good to see you out enjoying the walking.

Hoping to get a good night sleep and be able to fall asleep quickly. Last night I did not fall asleep until 6:30 this morning so I have only had 5 hours of sleep. Too many things to think about I guess.

Wishing everyone a great day tomorrow and an awesome weekend coming up.

Judy, sorry to hear about your heel but glad to hear you are actively working toward that retirement.
Joy, love the photo. I, too, find it difficult to believe 2 yrs have past! Where did it go?
Verna, you never rest.
Do you all realize how all of us are really busy people? Retirees as much as the still working.
Good pic, Jeri.
Hi Patti.
LJ, hope you are safe from the fire.
Hi CAZ. Done sanding?
Susan, glad to hear the transplant is moving forward.
Anyone else out there??? Everyone have a great evening.

We hit the gym by 7:30 and after breakfast and shower Snick and I walked 3 mi. Since then I have done this and that around here.
Reserved for a whale watching boat trip for later this month. It's been some years since we have done this and think it will be fun.
