Good Morning All!

Patti, I had a 1.6# gain this morning too. But, my clothes are fitting looser; I trust the process more than the scale. It's one of the reasons I hate weighing weekly. As soon as I'm back at or under goal I am going back to once a month. Really need some dry days to be outside!! emoticon

Caz, Twice the time is good! My rule of thumb is to take the time estimate and triple it! Comes close most of the time. Glad things are in place for the surgery, you're in the loop and ready when they are. Gotta get you back to 100%! Fully charged!
Sugar's favorite game is Hide and Seek; her secret is staying stone still!

Had a new tree planted yesterday. My promise to the future, plus it will screen the storage corner of my backyard! ;)

He did a great job! I still can't do the heavy digging-clay not "soil"-but I can handle a bag of mulch again. I just need some dry days. Hope it may be dry this afternoon. Life is good.

Joy: The no sodas still showed no difference. I gained two pounds but I know that I went over my sodium level on Saturday.

Morning Girls
Patti good luck with your weigh in. Good job on ditching the soda- really no good for a body emoticon
Joy great pic- I'm sure she's playing hide 'n seek LOL
Cat would love to see the pics. Glad you had some good sightings.
Susan a productive day for you, you must be feeling better. I really hope all goes well for Ryan today, bound to be stressful but you'll be there for him. Best wishes.
What a morning- dark as night and so much colder than yesterday. Path still not done.........funny how jobs take twice as long as hoped LOL. But it's looking much, MUCH better. And I've lost a pound...............calorie burner for sure LOL
Hopefully it'll brighten up but if not I'll give Pete a hand!
No word from the hospital on an op date as yet but did get a letter detailing my last appointment for my GP (a copy always comes to me!) - the National is HOT on details and keeping everyone in the loop. AND it was done the same day and posted the same day, They don't hang about LOL.
Got all my bits and pieces ready for the 3 day stay and I suggested to Pete he might prefer to drop me off at the Hospital (both of us travelling down by train) and then return home to sleep in his own bed and to come and get me after the op instead of staying in a hotel.
He's thinking on it. I won't mind as day 1 will be taken up with travelling, then doctors checking me over and me setting in. Day 2 I'll be having the op and recuperating in the afternoon so not much fun for him. Day 3, getting checked over and discharged by 11.am.
It would mean less luggage too! emoticon

Hello girls,

I'm late posting but have had a completely full day.
I went to my son's today to bath his dog and trim his nails. This is a challenge because the dog is very sensitive to touch and needs lots of patience and reassurance.
The bath went great and my son helped me when doing his nails by holding a towel over the dogs eyes so he could not see me coming. Took about a half hour with a couple of rest in between so Rommie wouldn't get too stressed.

After I finished the dog, I stayed and did some house keeping for my boy. Cleaned the stove, vacuumed and then I filled all of his pill containers. That is a real job and a half and it took about 20 minutes to do it the first time. I am going to start doing this chore for him weekly
until he starts to feel stronger.

Tomorrow he is having the chest tube put in which will be the port for the dialysis . After the tube has been put in and is secure, they are going to do his first dialysis on him. I hope it will not be too overwhelming for him. He will probably fair better than I will through it all.

Hubby has to stay here tomorrow as the workers are coming to move our front stairs and begin digging to put in a concrete foundation before putting the stairs back.
He is also going to look after my son's dog while we are gone since it will be quite a few hours.

Jerri, I hope everything is not too stressful at your house right now. Perhaps while in hospital there will be an advocate that can find a place for her to live. She will need some nursing care and maybe physical therapy for her hip now. Not sure how things work there in the states but over her we do have some agencies that can help at times like this.

Well I better go as I still have a million things to do. I am grateful because I did get in 15 mins of cycling this morning and 60 mins of power walking this evening.

Best wishes to all for a great day tomorrow.

Hi all. I'm sitting here relaxing and thought I should check in.
The whale trip was good. We saw four hump backs including a baby. Not many good photos but a couple that I'll try to get on here soon.
We were in bed early last night. All that salt air got us.
Today I have been cleaning off my large welding table that I have sold but needed to get it free of all the stuff cluttering it. Now the guy can come and get it. We have bought a new safe that is very large to go in its place.

Good Morning All!
We've had 5 dry days in May, emoticon today is not one of them! Still, I'm hoping the nursery will come this afternoon and plant the flowering crab tree. Afternoon is supposed to be better.

ANNE, Happy Anniversary! Enjoy your holiday!

PATTI, 3 weeks without soda certainly should make a difference, if not tomorrow; soon.

JERI, emoticon there's a "knowing" that comes when it's time to do something. (Joy's life 101) If you don't "know" wait. Often the hardest thing I've had to do. emoticon

MAY, I'm so glad you are now getting better weather! emoticon

CAZ, enjoy yours too! emoticon

CAT, did you see any whales??

Hi again,
well I definitely am on the mend. I got out for a 9 mile walk.run today and did that in 1 hour 55 minutes. The running didn't feel too bad in the beginning but after a while I felt as if I was pushing myself so I resorted back to power walking. I am trying to keep myself together until the next step in our testing which is next Wednesday when we go for the cross match.

I have had all good results however one didn't come back that is good. IT is probably because I was getting sick and under stress but my fasting blood sugar came back a bit higher than it should . It doesn't fit the level of diabetes but it could indicate pre-diabetes. Of course that has me all worried not that I won't be allowed to be a donor for Ryan but I have brought his glucometer home and am going to run a fasting blood sugar on myself in the morning. Since my glucose tolerance test was just fine, I am certain that my fasting blood sugar was just a fluke. The reading was 6.9 and should be below 6.0

Our weather is very pleasant today and my walk/run was on my own without my furry partner. This made it easier for me to get my speed up. I am really pleased with my fitness today. I will take my dogs out after dinner but have to change the route because the grass is getting longer where we usually go and two of my dogs have already picked up tics. They are on Revolution but the tics bite before they die and fall off.
Luckily the tics have not embedded into the dogs and I have been able to remove them easily. My mother had one on her arm the other day when we went out for coffee and she had only gone from her house to my car. The tics are really bad this year.

Anne, you must be so excited about getting to Portugal for a week. I hope you have an awesome time. Happy Anniversary to you and your soul mate.

Well, I am off to make dinner for hubby and I know. He is busy cutting the lawn again as it is growing before our eyes. Have a pleasant evening everyone.

Good evening, lovely evening here. Busy work week as on holiday from Thursday and off to Portugal for a week on Saturday, It is our 38 wedding anniversary tomorrow but no special plans been together for 41. Garden is full of weeds again so hopefully I can attack them on Friday. attended a digital legacy conference at the week end in London and stayed overnight with DD she enjoys cooking mostly healthy and vegetarian so a lovely treat feel spoilt.
Looks like there has been a lot going on
Jeri what a difficult time you and your family are having I hope everyone heals soon and issues resolve.
Susan it must be difficult for you all dialysis is such a big step and can be restrictive however the bonus will be fitness for a transplant which I hope comes soon
Joy glad the reduction in steroids is helping you feel better and the dog walk sounds fun lovely pictures
Judy glad things are improving
Caz hope you made the most of the sunshine to-day looks a bit more unsettled for a few days
Best wishes to all have a good week

Good Morning All,
Had a nice inside day yesterday. Worked in my office and met all my fitness goals indoors. It was sunny but unseasonably cool and as JERI said; COLD this morning. Should be in the low 60's this afternoon and I hope to get out and get at least some of the annuals planted that I bought last Friday.
JERI, you've done well for a long time, or so I thought, with just your niece there. Thought that comes to mind is don't throw out the baby with the bath water. Not sure how your sister is doing but perhaps she should go from surgery to someplace like Cardinal Hill, or assisted living until she can make it on her own. I didn't realize you had her dog too! But, yes; you have to take care of your family first as you offer support to others. I think it's called a rock and a hard place; choices, and they are all difficult. HUGS!

PATTI, glad you are back on track and have the week off to a good start.

SUSAN, Love your Purfect Monday logo! Sounds like things are moving in a positive direction again. You have to take it slow, let go and let God. He can handle the stress. Hugs to you too!

JUDY, glad you are seeing improvement with your foot; it takes along time. Patience.

CAT, I envy the whale watch! Hope you have a camera! Happy Hunting.

Hugs to everyone; life is good.

Susan, how incredibly difficult for you! I hope all goes smoothly, and your son does well with dialysis until the transplant can happen.

I'm heading out soon to see my sister. First I'm going to go for an early morning (very cold) run. Did I mention that on top of all this, I have developed a UTI? Yeah, fun times. I haven't had one in years! I looked up side effects of my arthritis medication, and sure enough, that was one of those "Call the doctor immediately if you experience..." symptoms. So today I will be calling my doctor. My poor husband is trying hard to be patient, but he was not a fan of my sister moving in. His patience is wearing thin.

Good Morning everyone,

I spent most of the weekend in bed sick with the flu but I did manage to stay up most of yesterday and even went out twice to walk the dogs for a total of 69 minutes. The fresh air felt good but I had to wear my winter coat, scarf and gloves as the wind was bitter cold. Hard to believe I was wearing shorts and a t-shirt just the week before.

I am feeling about 75% better today.

Last week was very stressful for me because when I took my son to the kidney specialist, he told my son he needed to go on dialysis now. My son said absolutely no way. My son has not be feeling well for several months now and if he doesn't do the dialysis, he will continue to fail and not be strong enough for the kidney transplant. Trying to convince him to go on dialysis has been harrowing but with the help of my uncle who is Ryan's Godfather, Ryan has agreed but only for a year. If he doesn't get the transplant within a year, he says he will go off the dialysis and let nature take it's course. He knows that he would die without it but he is tired of fighting the disease that keeps taking over hos body. DIABETES. The transplant should happen before the end of the year providing I meet all the criteria. So far all my tests have come back great with no problems. I am praying that I can keep my stress level down for a while now and on Wednesday Ryan is supposed to have a chest tube put in where they will do his dialysis from. Not sure what day they will begin dialysis but I'm sure it will make him feel so much better than what he has been feeling.

Jeri, what is going on in your nick of the woods! I was so thrown when I read about your sister and then your step mother. Something in the water there ??? I feel so badly for you and the onus that has been placed upon you. I do hope somehow you will get some help.

Joy the dog walk sounds like a fun thing to do and glad you enjoyed yourself with Sugar.

Hello to all those I may have missed, I am still not quite up to snuff here so I wish everyone a great day and an awesome week ahead.

Morning all
Joy glad you enjoyed yourself and that Sugar did so well. Also pleased you're feeling better,
Patti, one day is nothing to worry about at Cat and Joy say. If you're really worried about it just balance it out over this week- no knee jerk reactions necessary.
Judy I can see you and hubby enjoying those chops and relaxing -just what Sundays are made for.
Jeri.......you know what they say about bad luck running in threes so the worst is over!I hope all will your sister and step mum will be well and strong soon.
Cat a whale watch! How exciting. I sometime see Dolphins in the bay and porpoises- wonderful to catch a glimpse so I can only imagine how great a whole trip would be to go and see whales.
Cloudy here but at least it's dry. Got about a half of the path done and it looks so much better, Want to crack on with it today, also have a hair appointment for a trim.
Workout first!!!

Good grief indeed, Jeri. Remember what they say about bad things coming in threes........
Joy, it looks like you and everyone at MS had a great time. Glad you are feeling up to this.
Patti, as CAZ once told me; one day does not define us.
Today is mist all day and hopefully will be over by tomorrow as we are going on that whale watching cruise in the morning.

Checking in late today. I missed my 5K last night. It turns out my granddaughter is finally turning a little bit girly, and she was very particular about her dress! We shopped for several hours trying to find just the right one for the formal dance. We finally found one at a bridal shop. And then there were shoes to be had. She wanted a pair of heels, but said her date was short. She ended up with two pairs -- flats and heels. I didn't get home until right at 5:00 last night, and had no time to change and make it back to the race. I'm sure all that time on my feet must have counted for some kind of exercise.

I planned my long run for today. HOWEVER... my sister moved in with me a few weeks ago, and she fell and broke her hip outside this morning, when she was walking her dog. She was ambulanced to the nearest hospital. They will do a hip replacement either tomorrow or day after. I texted my stepmother to tell her I wouldn't be with my dad very much this week due to my sister's broken hip, and she told me that she (my stepmother) had fallen yesterday and is having surgery on her broken arm tomorrow!! What in the world is going on around here???? Anyway, no long run today.. I'm stressed and worn out. I just want to take a few days to unwind.

A bit chilly, but the sun is shining brightly and very light wind, so I'm heading to the cabin for the afternoon. A little relaxing and a little planting of flowers, then hubby will grill some pork chops before we head back to town. I'm feeling some improvement in my heel FINALLY, so am more optimistic about it healing.

Good Morning All, Chilly but sunny morning here. Yes, we did go to the Mutt Strut yesterday and I'm so glad I took Sugar! By the time we started walking the rain had stopped but we went prepared for anything. I definitely will do it again if I can; loved seeing the variety of dogs and although it stressed Sugar; it was a good experience for her and she did well. Proud of her. If you don't know what it's like--check out yesterday's blog. It's all pictures.

Had a really good week and feeling better and better as I continue to reduce the steroids. I didn't realize how much they were contributing to other issues for me like muscle weakness and fatigue. Life is good.

Good morning! Little League opening day parade kicks off in an hour here in town. If it's not raining, it will be fun to watch the boys in the ball uniforms. My grandson's first game of the season is at 11:00, but by that time I will be in Lexington with his sister, shopping for a dress for her Middle School Formal. It's her first "real dance" with a real date. The dance is next weekend. I'm running a 5K at 5:00 this evening, through beautiful Claiborne Farm. The weather should be pretty by then. Here's a link to Claiborne Farm. Absolutely gorgeous place! www.claibornefarm.com/

Good Morning All,
Mutt Strut here later this morning. Will head over at 9:30 as I'm already registered and checked in, walk starts at 10:30. Watching the weather, cool wet day, hoping the rain may be past by then. Pledges won Sugar an "adopt love" squeaky toy she loves and a coffee mug for me. Nice, didn't know there were prizes. I'd have been happy if the money was used for the Humane Society. But, does make it fun, hope they have a good day. My friend is under the weather and will not be going. Happens. I have not decided about Sugar yet; won't take her if it's raining but I will still go.
Susan, I hope you are feeling better this morning.
CAZ, happy to see you here bright and early! :)
Everyone: Hi, make it a great weekend!! Life is good!

Morning Ladies
Well it's more like winter today so I guess I'll be helping Pete in the loft painting the skirting boards.........much rather be in the garden, But it's tidy for now.
Fed the birds earlier this morning and they ARE getting braver, allowing me to stoop down low and closer to them.
We have a disabled Magpie. only one leg and he hops about with no problem.
I find myself chanting "Morning Mr Magpie" although I'm not really superstitious!
Looks like love is in the air too, as pairs are coming down to dine together, with the males chasing their "wives" after LOL
Yesterday the blackbird- cheeky blighter- he could not be clearer that he wanted me to put feed down. He sat on the Bird Bath and looked at me, then the bag, then the path then back at me and chirped........as if to say " well come on I'm starving!" emoticon
I could stand in my gym room and watch them for hours................but got to get moving!!

I wish everyone well, Susan I see on her blog has flu- get well soon hun.
Have a good weekend everyone emoticon

Seems like my days are all flying by lately. Better than sitting around drooling on myself!
Hit the gym then Safeway before home for breakfast and a walk then shower.
Researching safes as our locking mechanism broke. Now the safe has a huge chain around it with a combo lock. Not a great solution.
Beautiful weather here.

The weather here is cold, rainy, wind and a possible frost overnight tonight. Won't be going to the cabin this weekend, as it's just not the same when you're bundled up inside and can't enjoy the weather and lake! Son and daughter in law are on their way home for the weekend, so we'll go out to eat when they get here. He has a baseball game tomorrow and it's going to be a cold one!

Good Morning All,
Headed out for a girls day out this morning with a friend I haven't seen in awhile. Picking up our Mutt Strut registrations, then going to lunch, checking out the trail for tomorrow morning and heading out to the garden center. She lost her sister this morning, in another state and services are planned for next weekend; so hopefully this will be a beginning of healing. I've found long illnesses do prepare you to let go; but you feel the loss, none the less.
We more than likely will be walking in rain tomorrow morning. I will not take Sugar.

Verna, you've made me smile this morning! Anytime you do a house project--it triggers other house projects! Sometimes it just takes bringing in a new chair! You're on a roll! I've also found it's definitely worth it to hire some things done!

The moth is fairly rare here, the friend I called to identify it is a collector and it has eluded him for over 60 years! I didn't know, so this one was released before he saw the pictures. Still, it would have been a shame to kill it. So, no regrets really.
Enjoy your day everyone!

Good morning!! It's a beautiful day, and tonight is date night. There is a Summer Concert Series in a neighboring town, and we are going to the first night tonight (every 2nd Saturday). Local bands (some local fame around our state and neighboring states), and food, artists, sidewalk chalk, games. Just a fun summer festival. The weather should be cool, but not cold. I'm really looking forward to just being out of the house!!

Last night after work I took my niece to the Y. I ran 3 miles while she used the recumbent bike for 30 minutes. Then I helped her with strength exercises. She has cerebral palsy, and one side is weaker than the other. Right now we are working on building her core and her legs. Her upper body is pretty strong. She gets really proud of herself when she works out like that. I get proud of her!!

Good morning. My fitbit died on me yesterday. Not sure if it is the battery. I will get a new battery and if that is not the problem, I will buy the fitbit wrist band. I have the zip right now.

Morning all
Jeri.....families! I feel for you.
Joy how beautiful is that!
Susan you have my prayers that all will come good.
Judy I wish you all the best with your brother. Hard being so distant.Loved your analogy.
May it could just be the cold but it could be the start of arthritis. Get it checked.
Verna sounds like your making progress with your renos.

Lovely day here again, although windy.
Hopefully it will be a restful weekend but it's forecast colder and rain.

Mayie do you suppose it's arthritis in your fingers?? I understand many people are plagued with it and that it causes soreness in joints. Guess a doctor's visit is needed if it continues.

MNNICE I hope your brother is ok and am glad to hear that there is someone looking out for him. It is hard being many miles from someone when they are going through difficult times. I live away from my family too so I can empathize with you.

Joy that is a very pretty moth. I haven't seen one like that around here although it is supposed to be as far west as the Rockies and I am close to those majestic mountains.

Caz I hope you are called soon for your surgery so you can enjoy the summer weather.

Hi to everyone else. Hope each of you is healthy and in good spirits and that the scale is continuing downward!!

The flurry of activity continues around here. Today DH and I took 3 loads to the "Waste Transfer Site" I still call it the dump!! We got busy and cleaned out the garage and took more waste lumber from the renos as well. How did we accumulate so much junk I wonder.

A crew of 4 were here today and my house smells like new wood as there was lots of sawing going on again. Now I've decided that the basement cannot look better than our living area so tomorrow we are going to look at new lino for the kitchen and some paint!! DS will put new baseboards on as soon as the lino is laid and then I would like to redo the hardwood floors. Finding a place for all the furniture could pose a problem though!!! I'm thinking we might have to move it into the stock trailer for a few days. Haven't broached this subject with DH yet ---he will surely die if he can't have his TV. LOL

A few years ago I hired a handyman to paint the master bedroom and do a few other odd jobs so I gave him a call this evening to see if he's available to do a few things again!! He's coming at 9:30 tomorrow morning. I know he paints but I don't know if he lays lino or carpet and the garage needs painting. Boy if I keep this up I will break the bank and then what?? Better the bank than my back I say!!

I've had a big day so I am going to sign off for now.

Hello all.
JOY: that moth is beautiful. I had a bit of difficulty identifying the subject prior to reading the caption; I was focusing on the snake head in the upper portion of one of the wings. Have never seen anything like it.
It's been very cold and windy here today with snow forecast for over night and tomorrow. With the change in weather I seem to have developed a lot of pain and swelling in my fingers, hands and knees. I am unable to bend my thumbs. I am not one to complain about pain but I wish I knew what was causing it and how I could fix it.
I had to laugh at the comparison of families being like candy; sweet but with a few nuts. Definitely describes mine. Thanks for the giggle.
Off to bed soon. Hope you all have a good night.

MNNICE - emoticon I wish you the best with your brother. It is stressful to be so far away from someone when they're going through something difficult. My *kids* (adults) are going thru stuff (the messy bits of life) all while we are long distance to them. I find myself praying a LOT these days; it keeps me from stressing out too much. emoticon

And again I've been lax in posting here and it took me a half hour to catch up on all of you. Wishing a welcome to Mayie and Eabl. My siblings and I (there are 8 of us) have always gotten along and have fun together - however, one of my brothers has always been a dreamer and wanderlust, and has gotten himself into a situation where, at age 65, he is alone and very ill in the Philippines. We haven't heard from him (nor have his sons) in about 2 1/2 years and don't really know his legal status over there, his living arrangements, health, or anything -- just received word about 2 weeks ago that he was in critical condition in a hospital. Have been able to get some information by going through the State Department, but we've all been worried and stressed. We want to help but don't really know how or if he even wants help. Not that any of us are angry with him but he just has not kept in contact -- maybe because he can't. But for now, we know he is safe, getting help and has someone keeping an eye on him so that we don't have to worry about him getting thrown out in the street, being taken advantage of, etc. Families! They are like fudge -- sweet, but with a few nuts sprinkled in! emoticon Other than that, I do feel fortunate to have supportive siblings and few problems with my kids and their spouses. It is a very different world out there these days! Hang in there all!

What a gorgeous day outside! I wantto take advantage as much as possible because rain will come tonight and possibly thunderstorm which I love.
I love hearing big thunder crashes and seeing lightening in its fury. as long as it doesn't bring damage with it.

Getting ready to take my son to see the kidney specialist shortly and hopefully we can get him feeling better.
Today I want to try very hard o have a positive attitude and no complaining. Yesterdays challenge in one of my groups was to NOT complain but I did so today is the day I remain only upbeat and positive..

Jeri, my heart breaks for your situation, it sounds oh so familiar and that is why I can empathize with you.

Joy, the moth is beautiful. Many years ago I had a cocoon that I placed in my kitchen to hatch. I was shocked the morning I got up and saw what came out of it. It was one of these months and it was the size of a small bird.

CAZ enjoy your lounge in the sun, that is what I would like to do this afternoon if time permits.

Patti, CAT, Mayie, EABL81 and everyone else, hello and I wish everyone a fantastic day.

Good Morning All! All is well here. Off for a haircut this morning. emoticon
Have to share Xena's "gift" from last night! The "What the ???" season with her has begun! They are not really gifts, she brings things in so they can't get away from her and really pouts when I capture and release them. This one was as large as my two hands mimicing it. Breathtaking!

The Cecropia Moth (Hyalophora cecropia) is North America's largest native moth. Females with a wingspan of six inches (160 mm) or more have been documented. It is found as far west as the Rocky Mountains and north into the majority of Canadian provinces.

Good morning!! I'm tired this morning. I should have slept as late as possible. But instead, I got up and did a half-hearted workout of 20 minutes walking (1.25 miles) and then some upper body work. I should have run, but I was just too tired. Last night I took my granddaughters to get their nails done. First we had to stop and get the 12 yr old's belly x-rayed. She has some really bad stomach issues, and they want to make sure it's nothing dreadful blocking her intestines. X-ray is first step, and then she'll be referred for a GI consult. Both the girls ended up getting full sets of nails last night. The 12 yr old is going to the middle school formal with a "date." They are so cute! I'm taking her dress shopping Saturday. I got home after 8:30 last night, and it just wore me out! I hope today goes smoothly.

Last night my husband noticed a bunch of paper towels in the trash. We are frugal, and we don't waste a lot of stuff. It looked like almost half the roll was in the trash can! He asked my sister about it, and she blamed it on my niece (which he knew was bs). So he called my niece into the kitchen and asked her. She said it wasn't her. He asked them both together, and they were both denying using a half roll of paper towels. I know it was my sister. She did the same thing with the milk the other day. Since she arrived, we've been going through almost a gallon a day. The other day she was sitting there with a big glass of milk in front of her, and my husband said something about all the milk we are going through. She said, "It's not me, I only drink a half glass in the morning, and a half glass before bed! Kristen has been drinking a LOT!" Ummm... She was sitting there in the middle of the day with a full LARGE glass of milk! But, of course, it's the "not me" ghost. I thought the Not Me Ghost only lived in homes with small children. Other than her extreme usage of random stuff, things are going okay.

Morning guys
Jeri hope the calmness continues and it's not the calm before the storm.
Joy sounds like you had your hands full yesterday. I'm hoping the call will come sooner than later too.
Thanks all of you for your good wishes, it means a lot - all went well and I'm now on the waiting list for surgery. Having a short walk this morning ( co-ordination shot to pot LOL) but will get some ST done, that strangely is less of a problem, then I'm hitting the sun lounger.

Have a good one girls emoticon
