I only did about 6/10ths of a mile before I switched over to the bike. Gimpy ankle is a bit stiff with the onset of the cold weather, which means I wasn't strinking correctly with my feet, which leads to making my knee sore. I'm helping my brother move an hour and a half down the road tomorrow, so that will be a good way to sneak some extra strength traning in!

2.5 today using the treadmill and my IFIT program the run was Bourbon Street....mostly jogged but as always did some walking.

Hello, SeaJess,

I'm so sorry to hear that you're going through such personal pain.

Keep up the walking, although it doesn't have to be such long ones. You have to take care of yourself, too. Or, find something else you can easily do, like swimming, that won't be such impact to your knees while you try to heal yourself.

Remember that we're always here for you, running, walking or not!

I walked six miles today. And I'm not sure where exactly to put this so I'll just say it here.

While taking care of my father during his last illness I let self-care go. I stopped exercising, had poor sleep, ate a horrible diet and too much of it and gained 40 pounds. I tried making my way back with the run/walk program I used before but I've really injured my feet and knees to the point where I have almost constant knee pain and difficulty standing up from a chair and getting out of bed in the morning. I was hoping if I worked through the pain it would decrease but it hasn't significantly done so. I don't have a runner's body even when I'm at a healthy weight and overweight I just can't pull running off.

I'm hoping to be back when I've lost my weight and am able to run again but in the meanwhile it just makes me too sad to be on the team. It just reminds me of what I can't do now.

I do hope to be back. So I'm saying happy trails until we meet again, Slow Fat Runner friends.

2.5 miles. Got out early now the kids are back in school, I am usually a night runner so it was a bit strange to be out in the sun but it was great to get it over and done with. Lots of larger people like me out running in the park which is always inspiring to see.

It was a charity fun run in my local park and my first run in about 3 weeks. I ran about 3k of it and walked the rest which I am over the moon about because I have been dealing with an injury the last few weeks as well. Great atmosphere and its given me a renewed desire to keep going.

I got in 2 miles yesterday evening, between picking up my girls from daycare and starting a load of laundry. And THEN got to spread the spark to one of the teachers at the daycare about how it's okay to run slowly, after she told me how skinny I look in my running gear--nevermind that she wears the same size clothes I do!

Good job, everyone! Mon and Fri are my rest days; but, a colleague and I took a stroll across our multi-tenant office/shop/restau village to pick up something healthful for lunch. We enjoyed it outdoors, albeit it was a bit toasty in triple digit heat!

Try changing up your routine and just go for some amount of time during the week, e.g., 30-45 mins, and save your long distance for the weekend.

Have you learned how to train in heart rate zones? Really helpful!
