That's awesome, Shenika! Both that you have lots of downtime to get things accomplished, and that your fiance is on the journey with you :). I'm sure that definitely makes things easier!

I have a lot of down time at work right now. At my job, the summer is the least busiest time of the year. So, I am able to get a lot accomplished. I also do a lot on the weekends. As far as my weight loss goals, my fiance and I are both on the same journey. It has been so helpful for me to have someone at home that is supportive and trying to acheive the same goals. We often times work out together and cook healthy meals together. So, this gives us the opportunity to still spend a lot of time together.

Congrats on setting the date! I would definitely think that 11/11/11 would be busy...from what I can tell on the message boards, a lot of people like 10/10/10, 11/11/11, etc...I guess the one plus to his lack of interest in being involved means that you get to have the wedding YOU want, and you don't need to worry too much about appeasing him! :P

It's too bad that he's not more supportive in terms of weight loss. My fiance is really supportive, but also really bad for going along with all of my unhealthy cravings....basically, he lets me be my own undoing! :)

Just set the date--11/11/11! The trouble is that we thought the date was far enough to not have to worry about anything, but it turns out it is very popular and places/vendors are booking quickly! The fiance is willing to plan wedding stuff about 1x a month for maybe an hour, so the rest of the time it is his mother texting me to talk about what is going on. As for the health thing, he thinks it is silly and says I am fine and then offers me ice cream...major saboteur! We do go for short walks together after dinner, and that's nice. Beyond that, if we are together for dinner time he does help out with that, and we talk about making the meals healthier...if only he understood why pasta isn't so healthy for me!

Thanks for the tips! I will work on it :)

When are you getting married? I'm having a hard time right now balancing my fitness with time with my fiance, but our wedding isn't until 2012 so we're not overwhelmingly busy with planning! I work days and he works most nights....we can go 4-5 days without spending time together awake!

Is there some way to involve your fiance in your healthy effort? Doing something active together, etc? Is he interested in planning the wedding with you? I've found the one thing that makes things easier for us is to pair my efforts/interests/activity with my time with my fiance....

I'm struggling with this especially now, while I am in Grad school, planning the wedding, trying to get healthy, and my fiance is only home a few nights a week so I feel especially guilty doing any of that while he is home...help!

I try to do the planning on breaks and lunch time at work then get feedback from the FI when I see him.
We decided to workout together. He's doing P90X and I workout with him a few nights a week. He does yoga with me and I do the weightlifting with him. We help each other through each one and it's fun to spend that time together.
After working out we usually fix dinner and talk about the wedding while we prep everything together. We're actually in the late stages now and don't have anything left to plan but it was a great system during the busy planning months.

Just have fun and you have plenty of time so you guys can really enjoy the process!

Do you have any suggestions for balancing your weight loss and relationship, and the time spent for both? It can be tough to find the time to exercise...and tough to find the time to plan a wedding well....and even tougher to do both! So how do you find balance? Share your ideas here!
