Lately I've been going to Forest Park on South Harrell's Ferry. It's really nice now.

I was actually going to go to Port Hudson a couple of weeks ago. I hear they have a great path. However, even if their website says they are open on Saturday, when we went...it was closed. So call first.

It's been a very very long time since I've been but I believe that Port Hudson up in Zachary has a fairly long hiking trail too.

I know a few trails that fit your description perfectly but they are out of the baton rouge area. One is near the Zachary area and the other is in st. fransville. If you ever want to do them let me know, i'll do them with you.

Hey guys. Anyone know of any good trails in Baton Rouge? Ideally what I'm looking for is dirt foot paths going through trees, wooden footbridges, not just open fields where the sun bakes you. Highland Road Park has some of that, and I'd like to go do more things like that. I've discovered I really enjoy it, gets my heart rate up and easier on my joints than walking/jogging on asphalt. Any input is appreciated.
