My 17 year old great grandson went to see his girlfriend a couple weeks ago several miles away. Yesterday he developed a fever. Also his mother is an ER nurse and an EMT so we jumped tot the conclusion probably the Virus. Prayers went up. Today he went to the Dr. and he has strep throat. Prayers answered, even tho strep throat is bad not as bad as the virus. We were worried because he has three younger than him and also cousins come to the house when their mother is gone to work. We could imagine all kinds of things six younger children, grandpa and etc. We are so relieved.

Sun is shining today but the wind is blowing making it chilly. I have the furnace turned off and the door open.

We had to call off our egg hunt and picnic . emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon
Maybe a cook out later when all is clear once again.

Like everyone not much happening here but that is OK with me. I am enjoying these quiet in home days. I did go to Walgreen's to get my allergy spray and then to the meat market to pick up the 10 pounds of liver I had ordered a month ago. The meat market is a small local one out in the country so not much chance of a crowd. Besides the workers/owners there was only 1 other person beside me in the shop.

Not too much to report tried to bake some whole wheat crackers today but they are not exactly as I wished them to be.
Oh, well I had plenty of time and it was a challenge.

I will put them in a tin and pray that they get better with age..Ha, Ha...
Not else in the news, yes it is April Fool's Day...I guess my crackers are the fool's joke on me

Hello !! Dear Friends. Betty, Very cute ! Had a chuckle when I read the third words down the list. and like Frances checked the " forty" spelling Busy Stamping the latest set of Avon books for the end of April. Will wait for another week and start delivery of them with a set for May. With every 2 weeks it is sometimes best to wait and do 2 at a time.
Staying quiet for now with just 6 orders to deliver and no one to catch up to as some are in a Senior's Residence . If they call and want right away I will go and have staff meet me outside with the money. Just for everyone's peace of mind. and safety. One lady is under self quarantine from a trip to Quebec on business. Will hear from her when things are cleared up,
Not much else happening here for now , working on some knitting, putting squares together for an afghan. BBL. emoticon emoticon Maureen

Good morning! It's April Fool's Day and also a day to celebrate the penny, although that coin is probably destined for history books. I seem to have been the last here last night - and the first to arrive this morning. I've actually been up over an hour for some odd reason.

I will just wish everyone a Whimsical Wednesday - and don't forget that your first words of the day should be "Rabbit, rabbit, rabbit" to ensure good luck all month. emoticon

Maureen, I understand where you're coming from. We were all there not so long ago - in fact, a little over 3 weeks ago I was returning from a trip to Virginia and feeling about the way you are now. Just to give you an idea of how quickly the virus spreads, though: Erie County, NY (Buffalo area) had 90 new cases and 2 deaths just today - nearly 600 confirmed cases and 12 deaths to date. Monroe County, NY (Rochester area) had 43 new cases just today - 300 confirmed cases to date and 9 deaths. And 3 weeks ago, there were none reported - or perhaps one or two suspected. You seem to be taking precautions, and I'm sure you'll isolate if necessary. Prayers that you don't need to do so.

Long-ish day today and I'm ready to read a few pages and go to sleep. Rest well, everyone!

Good Evening , read posts off and on all day between phone calls and trying to make deliveries on some kind of schedule. Shopping at Wal-Mart for "Ensure" for DH as not a breakfast eater. This seems to work as a morning start for him with vitamin pills and coffee. Also diabetes meds.
Weather is still iffy and a little on the damp side. Short periods of sun.
Wonderful to see Marlene and the birthday list. Also Roz and Elsie, who don't appear every day, like myself and a few others. LOL.
Doris ,good to hear Janny is feeling better and has the extra oxygen unit to help ease things for her.
Frances, I'm sorry if I sounded like I'm not concerned with the spread of this nasty little germ but some of the reaction seems like over reaction before needed. Maybe I'm just too brave for my own safety. I am trying to be more careful while trying to get my job done.
Rosie, sorry your computer is not working very well for you, hope you can at least keep letting up know you are okay.
Time to find my book for a while before bed time. Take care and have a Good Night God Bless Sweet Dreams Stay Safe., emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon Maureen emoticon emoticon emoticon

Tuesday evening.

I did not get here today at all.

Today is the day, twenty years ago, that my dearest passed away and I was a bit 'soppy' in the morning.

But then I straightened up and said, that he would not like to see me this way and I took my pantry apart, well the bottom of it anyway and vacuumed and scrubbed and cleaned all until it is now pristine, orderly and happy.
Then I felt a bit tired. I have allergies at this time of the year and sneeze often. Also, my throat becomes quite raw. I consume a number of coughdrops to combat it and take an allergy pill daily but it still is troublesome.

Enough of my complaining. Oh, Janny did call this afternoon and she is feeling a bit better. The local company installed an oxygen unit in her living room as well as the one she has upstairs and she said it made a difference for her lungs. It made me so pleased to hear that she is a bit better.

I hope your day was fine and yes, stay in your homes and someday this will be history but we are going to lose some mighty wonderful persons before that occurs. That only makes me sad.

Love to all, Doris emoticon emoticon

We are not allowed to go out and exercise it must be done in your yard or inside ,
Now any gatherings must not be more than 5 with strict social distance to be observed
if stopped by the police you have to tell them why you are out and where you are going and one must have one's ID card when out.
You can go to the supermarket bank pharmacy

Today I have eventually folded and put away the Christmas curtains and drapes they had been washed but I had them in a pile on one of the spare beds, I'm glad that I've got that out of the way.
Tomorrow I hope to do a thorough house cleaning

Had a lovely fish broth with pasta added and this may be weird but I did stir fry some bokchoy to go with it.
I'm looking forward to some more fish broth for supper.

Drinking hot drinks help to keep the virus away from going to the lungs we're told it goes to the stomach where it dies
One is also advised to drink hot water with lime or lemon juice added first thing in the morning.
Hope these tips can help someone.

Stay blessed and safe everyone!
Much Love,
Roz.

I spent most of the day in the garage--sorting, dumping, storing, organizing, etc--and it is about half done at best. It was broiling hot in there and I was dripping wet, but kept at it as long as possible, putting me at 1755 steps for garage work!! this evening I hope to do a little in the garden. Luckily we have both chicken with pasta and vegetable soup and pinto bean with vegetable soup left over, along with a little corn bread, so supper is taken care of.

Today I received a carton of pasta (10 boxes of chickpea pasta) from Amazon. And the best news of all: Amazon is now carrying Amazon Toilet Paper and they have it in stock!!!! I ordered a carton to arrive April 7 and to follow once a month. Now I will cancel for an unknown brand I had ordered which was not being shipped until May. Our local stores are out of many things, including TP, chicken, and tomato soup--three essentials!!!

Hope everyone is washing frequently and staying healthy. Prayers for all.

Well my time has just gotten a little less hectic since all volunteer stuff at the hospital has been put on hold and the girls (great granddaughters) are spending most of the week down at one of my daughters' house to do their home schooling. Looks like they will only be here on the weekend for the time being. So maybe I can actually do some posting......lol

It will take some time for me to read all the back posts and catch up with everyone.......stay safe.....Elsie

Nas, I found Mary Lou on FB but her privacy settings do not allow friend requests or posts on her timeline. I messaged her asking her to change the settings, but I'm not even certain she'll get my messages. So I'll also mention it here...

MARY LOU, if you see this, can you change your privacy settings on Facebook? We can't send you messages or posts until you allow "friend requests". Thanks!

I would just like to point out that coronavirus can wreak havoc in many ways. For example, tomorrow is the day I change out my season/color-scheme and I discovered I have only ONE scrubby left - pink - and only TWO toothbrushes - blue or purple. Oh No!!!! Now I'm going to face the month of April with mis-matched toiletries. emoticon emoticon

Okay. Not the end of the world.

Camey, the easiest way to get set up is call one of your grands on the phone and ask them to Skype you. Be at your computer with Skype open and accept their call. You will then be connected and can add other contacts as you like. No fuss no muss.

Frances I had it on the other computer but never knew how to use it. Still don't.

I took Tylenol last night and it took the temp away. So far it is 97 now and I took two more pills. Will continue to 6 today and see how it goes tomorrow without them. Calling doc to ask why temp came back. Otherwise, feel ok.

Have 3 more days of pills that upset stomach but clearing the ear and nose of the sinus so helping. Allergies with tree polen is not helping.

Good Tues from K-town. It is 36 here and we might hit 40! Oh I wish the sun would come out here too...These darn dreary days are just getting to everyone.....Where is the darn sun???

Hi There Marlene!!! I don't get on here very often either, but what a nice surprise to see you posting about the same time that you are!!!

They want us to use credit cards in at all possible here too...what a terrible time this is...In WI were are suppose to stay home and maybe only go for a walk with one other person...Our Priest is actually going to do confession in our church parking lot next Sun...He will be parked in the lot and you have to come up next to him in your car.....Than he will be giving out Palms the next Sun again in the parking lot....

I "talked" on FB to our DD here in town last night. Her hubby is in FL at their new home there. He had gone there before all of this darn virus thing started up. So, he is able to work at home from there. Why be home in this weather when he can at least be in the nice weather anyway...

Our DD is really down right now. She said all she does in go to work and come home to be in the house the rest of the day....That is life right now for so many. She does have problems with depression tho and I like to keep checking on her....I think I am going to start asking her to get some groceries for us. I think she needs to be needed right now. She of course has asked and Mr Ken thinks he can do it all himself...She just needs to be needed right now. It as her son that I had on here the other day. Her DD is here in town but has the little baby Reagan (9 months) and wants to stay put....We don't blame her....

Mr Ken insisted on going to Harbor Freight again yesterday. Than off to get some oxygen for his tank to weld with. What a procedure!!! You had to go to the door area and than call on his cell phone to have someone come out and get your tank at the gate. Leave it there and than the man would come and get it...fill it...than leave it by the back of the car....Than they called you to get your credit card # and than they will email the balance to you...What a mess......So many men need that kind of oxygen for their jobs too....So, what a time it was..

Today Mr Ken is making his pork chops and sauerkraut once again LOL....That is ok as than we will freeze the rest....

Good morning - and Happy Pencil Day! To celebrate, I'm going to borrow some colored pencils from my granddaughter (mine are still in VA) and sketch a picture. More importantly, in these times, today is Doctor Day and we are all thankful for our doctors.

Marlene, Yay! It's good to see you, here. I expect you are skyping with your many far-flung relatives, also.

Betty, cute idea about the teddy bears. We all seem to need distractions - even our little ones.

Mary Lou, it's great to hear from you again. But, guess what? Aside from someone waking us up every morning, we're ALL enduring being confined and ordered around - albeit from afar - these days. So we can empathize fully. I don't go on Facebook very often anymore, but I'll look for you there.

Nas, your prayers are appreciated. It's the most any of us can do.

Julie, I agree with you about Instacart, and I don't approve of my daughter-in-law's many trips to the store, but they are adults and still young enough to believe themselves invincible. Apparently there are many others who feel the same (not me). I think it won't be long before the stores close their doors and resort to delivery only.

Roz, what a good activity and exercise - getting your garden in shape. We have to find creative ways to stay in shape and that is a good one. Do you grow any fruits and vegetables?

Maureen, the virus is passed through the air - and extremely easily, as I understand it. The reason for using credit cards is to avoid passing it on money (or hand-to-hand contact) - but use gloves or sanitizer to touch the keypad. I know you don't have any cases near you, but this is extremely dangerous - and from all indications it will reach your area sooner or later.

Camey, check your programs. You probably have Skype installed. If not, just google it and download. Easy and free.

Vahina, I think most of us prefer to pick out our own grocery items. If nothing else, we're getting a lesson in releasing control - I think.

Doris, your birthday dinner sounds delicious. My son was just reminiscing about an authentic Polish restaurant (similar fare) we used to enjoy. Yum!

Sharon, we could all take some advice from you, as you seem to have coped very well with being at home day-to-day. Hints are welcome!

Leona, where are you?

I won't even bore you with my "plans" for today. Suffice to say, "ditto".

Have a Terrific Tuesday - thank a doctor, if you see one, and admire your pencil.

I have not been here for a long time. I hope everyone are okay. I am fine, staying at home most of the time. Praying for everyone to stay clear from the virus. I have plenty of food as always have been a farmer's wife and stocked my kitchen with foods. So I have enough to last for a long time.

Just stopping by to say Hi...Our neighborhood is asking us to put a teddy bear in our window for the children passing by can find them...So I put a teddy in my kitchen window for them to see.

Next we will have to start painting rocks to hide along the way for the walkers to find.

I made greenbeans with potatos and tomato like my mother in law used to make and turkey burgers to go with it. It was the best meal I have had in a long time. Left overs today..YUm..

Hope you are all doing well and keeping safe. Smiles, Betty :)

Hi, all. We are on lockdown here. No visitors, coming or going, most entertainment cancelled.

If interested, you can find me on Facebook; name Mary Sexton of St. Louis.

As you can tell, it is the wee hours of the morning. As happens sometimes (too often) I cannot sleep. It will be a tough day as they will start coming in between six and seven; so no sleep after that. Someone comes in every 30-60 minutes until it is no use trying to go back to sleep. Especially since they will start by putting on my compression hose. Believe it or not, several of them will even come into my bedroom and put them on me wt's new?while I am in bed!!! They don't have time to leave and come back because of their time schedules. And we are short of help....so what,s new? We sure pay plenty to have our lives so disrupted; if I had only known! ut believe it or not, there are some who like it here. I think my problem is I lived alone and independent for 40 years before I came in here; I treasure my independence and I
was used to others knocking or ringing the doorbell and not just walking in at anytime. If I had a bad night, like tonight, I could sleep late once I did go to sleep. Most of you who remember me have heard all this before; I do tend to repeat myself....as if you haven't noticed if you remember me:
Now I am beginning to get sleepy, but not sure if I want to go to bed now at this late time. But I guess I will. Two hours sleep (if I actually go to sleep might be better than no sleep.
Guess I'll give it a try or I will still be sitting here at the computer when they bring in a tray with coffee and a roll (or cereal if I prefer) on it. This is a terrible decision to make! Try for a little (very little) sleep, or wait for the coffee which is sounding pretty good!

Well, anyway, Goodnight.

Mary Lou

good evening, everyone.

Today we had several deliveries of food and supplies from various places. Georgia and I worked together in the garage using wipes and gloves on most things before bringing them into the house. Sue has had chills for two days in a row now and feels tired, but not ill. She does not have a fever. Today, with house at 78 degrees as usual, she sat in her recliner wearing fleece lined slippers, knit top and pants, heavy weight hoodie and blanket and as still cold until we added a heating pad.

Roz--great to hear from you and know that you are OK. Stay safe.

Frances--we use instacart now once a week for most of our groceries. They wear mask and gloves and leave bags of groceries in boxes that we set out in the driveway. I bring the boxes into the garage unbag the groceries, wipe everything down and then Georgia takes stuff into the house and puts it away. It is much safer than the store.

My back yard is looking so much more tidy after working for 2 hours trimming and cutting overgrown plants. I also repotted some plants and they too seem quite happy.

I managed to get some exercise too, we are not allowed to go out and exercise or even go to the beach but it will be worth it in the end

My daughter got called to work today she has to go in on Friday so they will bring the girls to me on Thursday evening overnight go to work from my home and return for them on Friday evening ,so we'll see how that goes.
She should be home all of next week I hope.

Frances-----Thank you for your kind wishes

Have a blessed and safe time of day everyone
Much Love,
Roz.

Good morning,

Just to thank all for the lovely birthday wishes.
Yesterday I celebrated at my son's home and Oh, my goodness, He went all out to make me the most wonderful birthday dinner.
When we lived in Michigan and he was then a boy of about 15 and 16, we had the grandest restaurant on the Highway about seven miles from our home. I was called (and of course I will get this wrong in the spelling) JB's Hosboda . This is the way it sounds to my memory, It was a Czechoslovakian restaurant and my son duplicated the grand food exactly if not even better. Roast Pork, Potato dumplings, sauerkruaat, gravy, apple sauce, etc. etc. I was so thrilled that he took such pains for me. Then there was a huge devils food cake for our dessert. I did have a glass of white wine and then coffee. I was overwhelmed.

I skyped with three granddaughters and great-granddaughters and a grandson and we laughed a good deal as usual.

Janny just called but was not feeling very well and so was going to bed. I feel so for her. I pray that in no way will she take this virus. Her lungs are so very weak.

Today I have been on Facebook and enjoying so many good wishes from my friends and I answered the doorbell at nine this morning and standing about 10 feet away was my great friend Jan who had brought me a bunch of lilies and a framed photo of myself and the love of my life when I was 15 and he, 17. She had taken it from a very tiny photo that I always kept in my wallet and enlarged it and framed it. What a beautiful surprise.

Well, I must call her now and thank her again. It brought tears to my eyes.

Thank you, dear friends. We have done this for so many years now, separated and yet together. It is a beautiful thing. Be well, Love to you all, Doris emoticon

We are starting another week and it is going to be a fairly nice one for the weather. Today should be sunny and in the 50ís with a light wind. The snow is really going and should be gone by the end of this week. I am so happy to see it go. I didnít get out yesterday to feed the birds so need to get out today. It might rain tomorrow so want to get it done. Did 18 minutes walking yesterday and had a total of 3,485 steps for the day. I did do some daily household chores and even read some. I hope you are all doing well and staying home as requested. Have a good day.

Good morning! Today is National Lemon Chiffon Cake Day. Seems like a decadent way to spend March 29th while stuck indoors. Did you know that Niagara Falls also stopped falling on this day 150 years ago? It seems the ice backed up into Lake Erie and created a natural dam, allowing folks to walk back and forth across the dried-up river bed.

Betty, what a nice birthday you had - and a very deserving one, too. Your family had their creativity tested but they found some great ways to celebrate your day.

Roz, it's great to see you - and disappointing to hear that your island is also suffering with this pandemic. I guess no place is exempt. Stay well and keep in touch.

Julie, the post office, UPS, and other delivery services must love your business! My son scolded me for using Instacart, as he felt it exposed me indirectly to strangers. He said he would pick up anything I need - but now I worry about him being exposed. (sigh)

Over the weekend I wrote and submitted a brief version of my Irish great-grandfather for an Irish research website. They sent me the link this morning and I'm pleased with the way it turned out. They do an incredible job of helping folks track their ancestors, and then making connections to living relatives in Ireland.

Today I'll finish another knitting project, maybe finish the book I'm reading, and do some paperwork I've been ignoring. One of Kilean's birthday gifts didn't make it to the house, although my notification reports it delivered. It was just a small "extra" but if it doesn't appear today, I think I'll try to order some replacement. With only 5 days left to his big-day, I'm going to have to scramble.

Have a Magical Monday - and a piece of Lemon Chiffon Cake!

Thanks to all of you for the birthday wishes. I had a fantastic day. I reeived many phone calls from family and friends I hadn't talked to for a long time...My dd Mary, gahered her whole family and they all stood outside my door and sang happy birthday to me. Then we all chatted on Zoom for 30 minutes and I got to see my son from California, my grandson from Idaho and all my NC family plus those living here at home. I am very blessed...Being this old is all new to me and I hadn't thought I would be here this long so I take it each day at a time. God Bless you all. Smiles, Betty :)

Good Sunday evening to everyone ,hoping that none of you or your family members have been affected by Covid19. I pray and trust that we will soon be relieved of this virus for good .
We literally have to watch and pray.

As we are being advised and instructed to stay at home, we don't have much choice but to be sensible.
My daughters and their spouses have to go out to work as they are part of essential services so they all have special letters to show the police if stopped.

There are special shopping hours for seniors at the Bank,Supermarket , pharmacy and hardware and of course social distance must be maintained at all times, but thank goodness I've always had extra stuff and the children keep me supplied so I'm fine.

Keep safe and healthy everyone.
Much Love,
Roz.

HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY DORIS AND BETTY !!!!

Received two boxes from Amazon today--Kleenix and paper towels/napkins. Tomorrow I have a grocery delivery from Publix and Sue has a wine and beer delivery from Total Wine in the morning, with more boxes from Amazon due in the afternoon.

We ran out of postage stamps and Sue ordered some on the internet that won't arrive until April 6, which is a little too late for a couple deposits and bills I must make, so I gave the next door neighbor $2 for 4 stamps.

I spent most of the day gardening, but it was quite hot. Came in early as getting too tired.

It is going to be a little warmer with more sunshine today and in the upper 40s to 50 degrees today. The snow is going away. We still have some to go but a few more days like this and it will be gone. I am getting restless to start in on some yard work. I think today I might like to get out and pick up some doggie doo and feed the birds. I can get to my bird bath again so maybe I can get it cleaned and filled again too. Yesterday was a nice day. It was fun to watch the kids out riding their bikes and lots of families out riding. They just need to get out for a little. Didnít get much done yesterday but did have a good day.

Good Afternoon! Saturday seems not like a weekend today because of the staying in.

Watched a good video on UTube by a doctor How to protect yourself when bringing in groceries. He did 12 minutes washing fruit with soap and water for 20 seconds each for example.
emoticon I think I am going to use cooked veggies from now on rather than the lettuce and mixes to wonder about. emoticon

It is sunny out there today and will be a nice day. We will be in the mid to upper 40s with light wind. Yesterday was our first 50 degree day of the season. I sure did enjoy that. We had some nice melt and it is looking like we might have spring yet. I did 24 minutes of walking and had a total of 4,308 steps for the day. I didnít do a lot but did keep moving. Hope today is a good one for you all and that you are all healthy.

Good afternoon! I got bogged down this morning when I received notification of a new DNA match. It turned out to be a 2nd cousin, 2x-removed - no one I'd known but, as it turns out, she grew up about 1-1/2 hours from where I live now (I was living in Ohio at that time, though). The neat thing is that I was able to triangulate her DNA and identify several "mystery" matches on my list. It also added 20+ more people to my tree, including another Olympian athlete. This one skied for Germany in 1952 and later opened a ski school and resort here, in NY. So that's how I spent my morning.

Nas, I didn't realize that was a Bengali word. Now I'm going to check out her other videos and see what else she has to teach us.

I woke up with a stomach ache - of all things - and chills. Not CO-19 symptoms, but still. Since I haven't been near anyone, I can't imagine where I caught it - but I'm staying away from everyone until it passes.

Have a Stupendous Saturday!

Leona I saw on the news where some people were getting money in their mailbox signed by a friend. It was given to people out of work.

Then I saw where a congressman said to seniors to go out and enjoy it is nothing and he just died with it. Did not hear the whole story.

Rose my son is 55. As for windows 7 I had to get a new computer because it went out and there was not protection on my computer if I did not do it. So you better check into it. Maybe you can update but if you have an old computer they say it will not update.

Dorris congratulations on the book. Do you have to change anything in your book when you publish them?

Thursday no coats and felt like spring so warm 64 an again Fri same temp but a little breezy but still warm.

Today, will be warm again but rain Sun into Monday and then we clear again for more rain later part of week.

Saw in the paper where you can eat meat on Friday if you are finding it hard to get food in the stores, otherwise the want you to continue the tradition.

Can not understand still no emails coming. Someone else I know is having the same problem.

Yesterday, I had to pull the plug from tv because it was causing the to to stop me from viewing stuff I programmed. Another time had to do it for computer. Cable companies are always having problems.

Good morning,

I too hope all will enjoy their day. We have much to be thankful for. I am thinking of the homeless persons in our country as well as all of our superheroes, the medical persons who are the first line of holding back this virus. How dedicated they are!

I will try to accomplish a good deal of work today. I have already stripped my bed, washed the bedding and placed another set of sheets, etc on my queen size bed. It was not too difficult as this bed has the motor to lift the head and this makes the 'pulling' over the corners easy.
I had my breakfast. The mandrins are nearly gone but I do have lots of apples for morning fruit.

I sen wishes to all for a lovely Saturday. Stay in and glory in your home, telephone or email contacts with the family and keep well.

I have a spray bottle of alcohol to use if I am in doubt about any mail or boxes that might come to my door. We are to have beautiful 80-degree weather this day.
I will get out on my deck to enjoy it.
