Gator12, I understand exactly how you feel as I, too, have a DS with the same disease although he functions very well.I know what it is doing to his body and it will eventually kill him.

Guess it depends on the day and the hour! Mostly I guess it comes down to work, the HS marching band (I am VP and responsible for all travel plans and chaperone assignments and have been for 2 years now) and of course family......

Try not to let it get to me, put it in perspective (so many others have much more stressing situations, that's for sure!) and just take it one step, one day at a time. I am very blessed that my health is not an issue at the present time, but when you're fighting cancer, almost everything else falls by the wayside......yes, Ivylass, I try to remember "and it came to PASS" as well, just pray my way through it!!

I think this time of year there are more stresses because families are having financial trouble. Or they have stress anyway and are trying to get together and still react in those patterns set as kids. My stress is mostly concern over my son's alcoholism. He is trying again to sober up in his own way & time. His health is terrible and at 38 years old I'm afraid I may lose him to this disease. I go to Al-Anon, so I'm trying to be okay but do you ever as parents when your kid has a disease that is killing him. Sorry. I really hadn't intended to talk about that. But family conflicts sure DO come up at the holiday get togethers!!

Right now my major stress comes from family conflicts - youngest daughter is still dealing with the after effects of a very nasty divorce a year ago, and two other daughters are at loggerheads and not speaking to each other. They're all grown with families of their own and are entitled to live their lives as they see fit. I am also entitled not to buy into their petty biases and not take sides in their feuds (definitely walking a tightrope as any parent can attest).

How true. We are all so good at tearing ourselves down. Let's try to be a little easier on ourself. My biggest stressors are myself and family. But, stress is nothing compared with what I lived with when I was working as an operating room nurse.

This is sad - but true, for me - my greatest STRESS in life is ME!! It is my self-talk. I expect myself to be perfect and I overextend myself because - subconsciously - I feel like I need to be so that people will like me.

If I slip up or am not perfect (ummmm... which happens all the time because we all know there is no such thing as perfect!) ~ I "beat myself up" with a figurative stick!

I need to focus on positive affirmations and being gentle with myself. Otherwise, no matter what is going on in my life (even during good, low stress days) ~ I am stressed.

It is not enough to simply show up. You need to step up for results.... keep on stepping! Dee

My DH being at sea and things breaking down like my computer. I'm using my DS's right now but I'll have to deal with Charter when I go home to VA. Every time he leaves something breaks down. I handled it better the first 22 yrears of our marriage. Also a major stressor right now is my sister's cancer which makes all of us feel helpless.

I saw this question on a spark emailing and I thought perfect question for us. What are the stress's that affect you the most in life? The spark poll had choices, like work, health, finances, family, etc. So share your answer with the team, and here's hoping life is not too stressful right now. Also share how you deal with stress and not let it get to you?
