You know that makes a lot of sense. I have saved the list of Anti Cancer rules and ofcoarse veggies and fruits are good but one thing they say is Turmeric is the best antioxidant. So I try to sprinkle it on everything. It is not very strong but used in the middle eastern type of cooking.

Can you give us a list of some of the main things she suggests to keep on hand?

This diet reminds me of one that Prevention put out
about 2-3 years ago. Also, I belonged to a Team that
used that kind of food for a long time, then dropped
the team. I can't remember the name, but I will try to recall my Teams. If I get the name, I will post it here.

Definitely, Dee. Let me check the date of the event...and I would be happy to ask...since there may be others with the same question...

Mauriza,
I wish I lived where you are - I'd attend the workshop!
One concern I have is that she has meal plans for 1500 calories and I will sometimes work out 1 @ 1/2 hours in a day -- would that be enough calories? And my hubby wants to do this diet (mostly to support me but also because he has high cholesterol and is prediabetic).

I'm thinking of emailing Mary Flynn these questions ~ but if you find anything out about this could you let me know?

Thanks!
Dee

Dee, I have the "Pink Ribbon Diet" book since our organization sponsored a talk by Mary Flynn at a local cancer center. She is actually doing an extended presentation at our facility later this month on the diet. I will be working with her on presenting nutrition programs & cooking displays on the RV. Anyone who attends the program will receive a free copy of the book and the program itself is free. I'm really looking forward to hearing her again.

I've made a couple of the recipes and they are delish! Actually pulled it out to prepare a grocery list for next weekend!

I have not heard of this diet. I am interested to see how it works for you.

I got the book "Pink Ribbon Diet" for Christmas (by Mary Flynn PhD RD LDN)and I read the whole thing on my trip!

Well - it isn't that long -- most of the book consists of meal plans and recipes!! One of which we tried tonight and my hubby and I loved it!

I am going to give this a try - it is a mediteranian type diet that is plant based with lots of extra virgin olive oil (she calls it the PBOO diet! LOL!) ~

I like it because it is scientifically based and the author is a registered dietitian and the coauthor is a cook. More importantly - the diet is designed to decrease the risk of cancer and cancer recurrence by improving our cancer biomarkers (described in the book).

Have any of you tried this diet? If so, what are your thoughts? I am a little nervous about how much TIME it will take to prepare the meals (it will call for much pre-planning and cooking) Do you know of any resources related to this particular diet?

Hope you all enjoyed your holidays ~~
