Paul,

That is funny that Ricky is not afraid of big things but is of mice. Poor baby. But I can associate with Ricky. The only one thing that I am really scared is spiders. I am terrified of them! Just typing about them sends chills up my spine. I guess that it is possible that something outside scared Magic, but to the point of going stiff & killing over? I just think it is weird. I hope that I will never have to deal with anything like that again.

I hope you have a wonderful week Paula.

Talk to you soon.

Good evening all, Starr that would scare me half to death if Ricky did something like that. I was so happy to read that your Magic is doing good and has been fine. What I could relate to in your post was my Chi, Ricky is NOT afraid of big dogs or people, but a tiny mouse scares him to death. He won't get down off the couch if he has seen a mouse in the house. We have to carry him around. But, he has never gone stiff and fallen over. ?

Marilyn sure hope Sasha is doing better. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Yes, how is Sasha?

My Chi, Magic did a similar thing on Labor Day. She came in from doing her duty outside and just went stiff as a board and fell over. And she was panting really hard. We scooped her up and flew to the vet ER. They check her over real good, took x-rays, but could not find anything wrong. I told the vet that SOMETHING had to be wrong. Not that I WANT there to be anything wrong, but a healthy 4 year old dog does not do that for no reason. He said that she probably just got scared of something outside. A Chi getting scarred.....RIGHT!!! Chi's are brave enough to attack a Saint Bernard or German Shepard single pawed, but they get scared of a little something outside enough to make them go stiff as a board.....I DON'T THINK SO!!!! So, we brought Magic home, and she has been just fine every since. Praise the Lord for that. But I wish I knew what & why, do you all know what I am talking about?

Thanks Kris and everyone for your good wishes and prayers because they're helping!! Sasha is starting to use her "voice" again to communicate a little bit. She still coughs at times during the day, but she seems stronger somehow. I think she has a couple of good years left. I'm going to take each day at a time and enjoy my two girls.

Marilyn, Sasha is going the same routine my little Angel did. I am so glad to hear some positive comments about her health. Treasure each & every moment you have with her. I will continue to be here & keep you all in my prayers. It is not easy to know what is in the future.

Hi Everybody, all of your thoughts and prayers are very much appreciated. I've been having nightmares about Sasha for the past few nights. One was so vivid that it woke me out of my sleep. Sasha seems to be adjusting well to her medicine. Her appetite is good but she's slowing down a little.

Marilyn, I'm so sorry about Sasha. {{{{{HUGS}}}}} It has to be hard for you. I'm praying for you all as you go through this hard time. I pray that she does not have any more physical problems and that she will go peacefully in her sleep, but not for a long, long time. I'm glad that you have been blessed to have Selena to help you go through the dark days that will come. I find that it is of some comfort to have another animal that I already have and love to hug as I cry over another one's death. I pray for comfort to you not to worry over Sasha, but to just cherish the time remaining with her. God bless you all during this time...

Jean

Sasha went to the vet. She had a chest x-ray and it showed that her heart is enlarged. Her heart murmur is a grade 4. She also has some fluid in her lungs. Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. The vet was kind but honest and said Sasha could go suddenly in her sleep or have more trouble breathing. I cried, but still have hope that Sasha will enjoy lots more time with us.

Oh, I'm so sorry! This happened to my Killer once too, and I was absolutely beside myself. I knew for sure his was a seizure because he vomited too. emoticon

Anyway, if it helps, I think it was OK to watch her through the night. When Killer had his I called the ER vet and they said if it was the first time, it was OK to wait till morning as long as it didn't happen again before then.

I'm sending Sasha and you and your hubby healing hugs!

What a scarey night you had. My daughter has a pom/chi mix who has had seizures for years now. I haven't seen it, but she says it's soooo scarey each time. He seems fine afterward and he's at least 10 (actually probably older)- we call him the dog with 9 lives- he got hold of rat poison yrs. ago, kidneys started to shut down, etc. We managed to save him, 2 large dog attacks, a hawk attack. He's still here. Keep your chin up- they can be tougher than you think sometimes. Will keep you and Sasha in my prayers.

I think Sasha had a seizure. She got up, then she lay down on the floor and kind of flipped over. I woke up my husband and then left the room because I was so scared. He called me back in a couple of minutes and said she was ok. All day today she was acting normal - eating well, begging for treats and walking around. She has a heart murmur that will have to be treated for sure now. We would prefer taking her to her regular vet first thing tomorrow morning rather than an emergency clinic tonight, but I don't know if we can or should wait. She's alert, doesn't seem to be in pain, but her breathing is a little heavy and now she's restless.
I'll keep you posted.
