Hey y'all! I joined this team because I started the Cinch diet 2 weeks ago. On Tuesdays I drop one kid off at school at 9 and take another to the same school at 10. Since the drive to school is about 15 minutes I usually take my son to play in the park while we wait. However, 2 weeks ago it was raining so I went to my mom's house to wait.

Sitting on her counter I found a copy of the Cinch diet book. I read through the 5 day program quickly and thought to myself it would be good to try. For the past year I have struggled to lose any weight at all. I would stay on my diet (usually Atkins) well during the day but then at night I would blow it eating snacks and drinking wine. I liked the Cinch plan's 10 PM snack because that is when I overeat. So I wrote down the basics of the 5 day plan. I decided to do it for 10 days during breakfast and lunch so I could eat a normal dinner with my family and not have to cook a separate meal. Then I ate the 10 pm snack. The only change I made was I use whole milk yogurt which I eat myself but a 3rd to half cup to cut the calories down. I gave myself a vitamin deficiency eating fat free for years that messed my hormones all up so I don't do low fat or fat free anymore.

The 5 day plan (done my way for 10 days) was AWESOME! I lost 4 pounds. I totally gave up wine and snacking at night. After the big 10 pm snack I didn't want wine or junk food at all. My husband can sit right next to me eating chips or saltines with cream cheese and I can not only resist but feel NO temptation! The only problem I have had is cutting the coffee all the way down. I am still at about 4 cups a day.

However, once I started the Core plan and added grains I began to gain and/or not lose. I added whole corn tortillas, ezekiel english muffins (eating only half), dry whole oatmeal, and whole grain sesame crackers. My mom and dad are also gaining on the core plan even with the fat free dairy. I forgot to mention I put the whole family on the core pan so I can eat dinner. We have had the spicy avocado tostadas and the mozzarella pizzalad so far. My kids LOVE the recipes. My 12 year old son said "Finally, you're on a diet with good food!" and repeatedly asked if I was sure it was diet food. All my kids ate seconds.

I use a fitbit device to tell me how many calories to eat each day based on my level of activity. I usually move enough to get around 1900-2000 calories and stay in my "zone". I have done so. The first day of Core I went over, so the second day I cut down the portions to fit. But I still didn't lose.

Has anyone else had this problem? What did you do to keep losing on the Core plan? I am so happy with the food timing on this plan, I hate to give up on it. I feel it is really healthy but I want to lose weight too. I have about 45 pounds still to lose. Thanks for any advice!

I lost nothing on the fast forward and with working out 3x week weights and several times a week cardio, I gained a pound.... ok... I cheated a little but cut portion sizes to stay at around 1200 calories.... this is definetely a maintenance diet.... not for me to lose gotta dig deeper

I lost on the first week as well, but on the main program, I also didn't lose anything. Think you're right about having to fine tune portion sizes, but also think increasing the intensity of my exercises would also help. But I've been "sick" with a cold or it's my allergies that have been acting up with the warm weather. I've continued to exercise, but not as much as I want because I feel tired all the time. The cough keeps me up, so not sleeping well. Last night I took my prescription meds to help me sleep, so I slept well last night and feel better. I only take it on weekends because it makes me feel groggy when I wake up, which isn't a good thing if you have to drive to work. If it's allergies, I have another 2 weeks of feeling miserable before things begin to improve.

Well, that's it for now. Have a good weekend everyone.

I think technically my 30 days of the Cinch! Diet was over March 8. I lost 3.6 pounds during the fast forward, didn't lose any during the Core, but also didn't gain. I feel like for me, this is a good maintenance diet. I am still mostly sticking to the 5 puzzle pieces but am trying to adjust the serving sizes a little to better fit me and my weight loss goals.

I am glad to see this thread! Found the Cinch book at the library and finally started it. Today is day 4 of the FF. So haven't weighed myself yet but feel lighter. I am not a cook, so the easy meals are a total bonus for me. This is the first set plan with meals that I have ever felt like I could really succeed with. And I am excited to be able to have people available to ask questions.

I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once.

Hi SMACHEL19 - sounds like you are doing well - you are right - Maintaining is better than gaining!! I think putting the puzzle together gets easier - I still count sometimes - when I just pull things out of the fridge - and make sure I have all 5 --! emoticon

Week one of Core almost over and no change in weight. BUT, maintaining is much better than gaining. And I don't really feel like I'm missing out on any specific foods so the lack of progress doesn't seem to be stressing me at all. I will say that putting together the puzzle pieces is a bit more complicated than just throwing together a random meal but I suppose it's probably good (and healthier) to actually think about what you are eating instead of mindlessly shoveling anything you can find. Maybe I need to do a better job of planning my meals for the week so there isn't so much to think about at the time of the meals.

Thanks. I do have the book with portion sizes marked for easy access. I was just rushed and didn't measure, and just used quick eyeballing which is why I was unsure of the portions I actually ate. This week has started off better and I plan to make it a good eating week.

Good job SMACHEL19 ! It is hard when so much is going on - but just keep going and you will do great! Do you have the book giving the portion sizes ? The carbs and protein vary in amounts especially. Let me know if I can help.

Friday was my last day on the fast forward. I lost 3.6 pounds and inches in the right places. Started Core Saturday with a good breakfast out of the book. The rest of the meals over the weekend were a little crazy due to helping my sister move (and poor planning on my part), and a birthday party I attended. I tried to stick with the puzzle pieces for the most part but I am unsure on portion sizes. Thankfully that was an abnormal weekend. This week should be better.

Bought the Cinch book and plan on doing the 5 day fast Forward starting on Monday. Couldn't find raspberries, so will be using blueberries, which I prefer.

Am interested on how will I will do. Will report back on Friday, after my weigh in.

Had an early Valentine's Day celebration, since I work late on Monday. Had a reasonable lunch and a walk around with hubby before having dessert. That was my last bit of celebrating. Plan on keeping a strict diet and hoping to see a weight loss.

Just finished day #4 on Fast Forward last nite, so am on to Core today. (pre-planned just the 4 days, weigh-ins are Fri) I lost 2 lbs, but feel that was solid fat and not water. (did jumpstart 4 days last week and flushed the water) Was hoping for 3, but hey I'll take the 2, LOL. My belly is most definitely flatter, almost into a pair of 1st goal jeans.

Hi Mary, Sounds like you did very well on the 5 day FF - good loss! I began Cinch! Dec. 31- and it has become a total way of life for me - I lost 10 pds. my first 30 days on Core (did not do the FF) - I have not lost any more - due to traveling and being in a different location right now -- lots of meals out - which I am getting better at!! I am maintaining my 10 pd. loss - trying to hold steady right now - I find out that if I eat a meal out and ate too much - I have no problem getting right back to the 5 piece puzzle the next meal. I made the Truffles in the book yest. Wonderful! My chocolate batter was a little thin - so took someones advice and purchased a plastic Wilton Candy mold ( called bon-bon - truffle mold) Worked great! I could just spoon it in the mold.

I love the way Cinch! makes me feel - and the balance of the 5 piece puzzle. You can make so many variations of the recipes in the book using the puzzle. I do use a little bit of splenda on certain things - has not hurt me.

Keep going everyone - enjoy reading how you are all doing!

I'm starting Fast Forward today! I have really struggled to get a handle on my eating since the new year started. I think part of it is the winter blahs! I am just really looking to jumpstart things a little, hoping the momentum will carry me along. My goal is to lose 15 lbs before my half marathon on 5/7. Thanks to everyone for sharing your successes! It really helps!

I have completed my five day fast forward. Down 5.5 lbs. It wasn't the drop I thought I would have but I was substituting with blueberries instead of raspberries at times. I used splenda on my berries also. I did sneak a taste of chocolate (chips about 10 one day). If anyone has any Ideas on how to go forward or success please let me know.

Hey lilybelle8
It's hard to start a program you are not sure if it will work for you. I jumped right in and read the book as I started the 5 day fast forward. I have discovered more as I read the book for why it works. I did get very tired of spinach/raspberries/blueberries/almonds everyday. Then of course it is only 5 days. I figuare as long as I try it and be positive with my support group it will be some kind of success. good luck take the step.

Hi MOSSROSE4,

I would love to hear some of your success on the cinch plan. Please any help would be greatly appreciated! emoticon

O.k. - all this enthusiasm is getting really contagious!!! I've got the "goods" to start one of Cynthia Sass's "quick start" plans - either the 4-day on Belly Fat, or the 5-day on Fast Forward. In fact, to be honest with myself, I don't know why I'm being so hesitant to begin. Could it be that I'm too lazy; not committed enough; fear failure? The success stories here should be enough to convince me - what am I missing???

Do it, NOW!

Hi, I just posted on another thread here so won't go into all the details again, but in a nutshell, just finished flat-belly 4 day jumpstart (which for my height is my actual calorie range) taking a 3-day week-end of reasonable and healthy choices, then on to the CINCH 5-day fast forward on Monday. After that, the CORE 5-piece puzzle as a lifestyle. It's the perfect plan for me that I can truly live with, and am VERY excited!! Bought both the Flat Belly Pocket Guide, and the CINCH hardcover. (just bought that a couple of days ago and it is the BEST book out of all the books on diet and nutrition, in my humble opinion) This just makes sense to me! Finally! Hope to read more about others experiences. Let's share our journies, there's bound to be a few bumps in the road where we'll need support! The victories are awesome to share as well.

Thanks. I ended up ordering the hard copy, it just seems like it will be more convenient in the long run. I do know from experience that if you are looking for something specific it is nearly impossible on a Kindle, lol. As much as I love it, it has it's down sides. Hopefully I will receive my book Wednesday.

Hi Mikapoo1 - Good luck as you begin your 5 day FF!
I am on my 5th week of Core - I truly cannot imagine planning my meals any other way - I love the balance of the 5 piece puzzle - As you go through the 5 days - read in the book what to expect each day - that has helped many. And--Welcome to the team!! Ask away if you have questions!!

I'm thinking about trying this diet. It sounds like you guys have been having some success. I'm just wondering if it would be better to wait to have the actual book shipped to me, or should I just get the electronic version now? The reason I ask is because I hear there are some logs for tracking or something and could be inconvenient in electronic version. Your opinions are appreciated.

Happy Sunday everyone! I discovered I like dry oatmeal in a parfait - new taste and way to have oatmeal for me! This morning I layered Greek Yogurt, natural applesauce, 1/4 cup dry oatmeal and topped it with sliced almonds and cinnamon mixed in. So filling! (and delicious new taste for me. - any fruit can be used!)

I do have the CINCH e-book from Barnes and Noble. I wish there was a way that I could print it, but I have to read it from my PC.

I haven't started the Fast Forward portion yet, because I'm having to write everything down that I need and its taking a little while to do it. But I do think it's something that I will like, especially the 5 incredients. I use them already.

I will let you know when I start the fast forward.

MOSSROSE4...I have joined you in the 10 minute treadmill activity. Last year I was up to an hour...but haven't done it since April. I had to get off my butt and get back into it. I am going to build my endurance up again!!! So...10 minutes a day for a week then increase!!!

My goal is to lose 1 pound a week. emoticon

No, I haven't tried that salad yet - anything with Gouda would have to be delicious for me!! Will try it soon.

Thanks for getting the new forums started!

I am in the second week of Core - and Friday is also my weigh in day. I continue to love this way of eating. I feel so satisfied and content after each meal. The 5 piece puzzle gives me the balance and portion control that I have been searching for!!

I had purchased a second Cinch! book for my daughter and was able to give it to her today. She was very excited! The foods she loves to eat - she is looking forward to learning the balance and portion part

I have been doing 10 to 12 minutes on the treadmill each day - not much but helps. Also need to go back to therapy leg and hip exercises. Been lazy on those.
