For whatever reason my blood sugar is continuing to normalize. Perhaps it is stress related, like stress about my blood sugar itself, a sort of catch-22.

Like if you have heart problems, and you start getting stressed about that, well...

I have had a few higher carb things, like a doughnut hole late last evening. Pure evil from a carb point of view, but a small bit of pure evil, as it wasn't an entire doughnut, just a small glazed ball.

Maybe too few carbs lets the body get weak at handling carbs... got to look into that.

We drop our ballots in the designated boxes or mail them in early. (I did) Robert waits until election day. But the actual voting process is Tuesday November 8th.
Oregon has no Polls like other states do.

I went to early voting Tuesday. Because I don't like the line at election time.

I had my ultra-sound this morning. The tech didn't make any comments. I asked her if I was having a boy or a girl. She said I was having twins! The radiologist has to look over the results, then turn them over to my Dr, I should hear from him on Monday or Tuesday.

When I vote in Canada, they have a list of voters at the voting station for residents off the area and the government mails you a letter telling you where to go to vote, and who in the household is eligible to vote. You have a few weeks to contact the government to make any additions or changes to that list.

When you come in, you provide ID, they let you go in and vote, and they strike your name off the list, so you can vote once at most.

In my province of Alberta you need one piece of government issued ID it must have a photograph of your face, your name, and your current address.

Examples of government issued ID include:
- Alberta Driver’s License
- Alberta Identification Card

Very little worry about voter fraud here.

I sure hope that Canada's prime minister Justin Trudeau signs the trade deal with the European Union before the US election.

Watching the US election is like watching the beginning of the fall of Rome. I hope not, but it is that scary.

Personally, I can't wait till it's over (the election)! All those miserable ads on tv, all that junk mail stuffed in my mail box -- UGH! This nonsense has gone on WAY too long -- it doesn't take over a year to decide who to vote for! I vote by mail these days -- not so sure I trust those newfangled electronic voting machines to record my vote!

I'm going to be a poll worker again this year. It's fun, but I don't like having to be there at 6:00 am! emoticon emoticon But recently my food stamps were cut drastically & I have to make up that loss of $$ some way!

Raining down here in Northern CA -- started early this morning & will go on until
Saturday or maybe Sunday. You're getting more than we are DebbieAnne! emoticon emoticon Had to turn the heat on for the first time this fall; I don't have any lake effect but I do have a slab foundation & the cold just seeps up from the concrete. It would be better if I'd wear shoes, but I'm a barefoot kind of gal, always have been & too old (& cranky) to change now!

Putting you in the healing white light Alan -- whatever it is, I hope it's minor & easily fixed!

Awww Lucy is taking good care of her Daddy. Yes, Cranberry juice helps but when I had a UTI i would alternate cranberry juice then one equal size glass of water then cranberry because of the sugar in it unless you use sugar free. Drink lots of fluids to flush that out.

Alan,
take care! Drink fluids. I've heard that cranberry juice helps with a urinary infection, I don't know if its true, but it can't hurt (except for the sugar and carbs?).

Fluids.

Get better. Your dog looks concerned (that is your dog with you in the pic, right?).

Hey team. I'm still hanging there. I had an UTI Friday. My temp was 102.9. My wife left early Saturday morning to go to a conference in Arizona. She will be home Wednesday eve. Lucy is here taking care of me. I guess I have reached the age where body parts start wearing out. I have a voice mail to call the hospital scheduling dept. So, now I'll have to call to find out what they want to schedule!

James, It's s if the area to "add a friend" has disappeared, "add a goodie" has disappeared" I've totally given up on traking food becaus e it's always changing and jsut to complicated for me the main page i log in on to do my spins and log ins are always changing.

Yesterday I saw my NEW Neurologist for the first time and love her. We will be a great team. My eyes are a mess and the lids droop down over the pupils. My neck is weak and meaning my head bobs and jerks wildly like people with Parkinson's but it's weakness.

Today we had our monthly Myasthenia Gravis meeting and a Specialist from Oregon Health and Science University was the guest speaker. I enjoyed it.

It sprinkled here yesterday, BUT I had to turn the furnace on.. I was so cold, it was only 61 in the house.. It was 35 degrees last night, but here in Michigan, we have the Lake effect, which is windy off three sides, since we are surrounded by the lakes on three sides. Not like the Santa Ana winds that are going though there. That is nothing compared to this.

The farmers are trying to harvest soy beans, corn, sugar beets, wheat, potatoes, beans, tomatoes, apples, rye, oats, etc here. The whole world reaps the benefits of our crops year-round, so it is vital that they get it all out of the ground before hard frost and in-between rains. Michigan is second only to Washington state in apple production. Yum!

SP has not let me come on their website for some reeason. I see changes that I am not comfy with and know others have seen the same. I cannot give someone a goodie. On some pages it doesn't show we are friends and no add as friend feature. Some of my pictures are missing from my photos.

Orange spice black tea, okay got it and it's on notes in my phone.

I would be more than happy to send you some of this rain. I don't mind it but we don't ahve a yard. No place to walk the dogs so when it rains we find a bridge to walk them under.

DebbieAnne -- stop hogging all the rain! We need it down here! They're talking another year of drought -- our 6th. We did have a nice little storm come through last weekend, bu now it's back to lovely fall weather -- mid-70s to low 80s -- and crisp chilly nights. My favorite!

I'n so glad you found that tea Pickie! Enjoy! Me, I don't like flavored coffee or tea, so you can have my share!

They are not called pumpkin pie tea, they are orange spice black tea. Private Selection. The decaf I am presently drinking is Barry's black tea. From Great Britain. Also from Kroger.

I got my second knee injection today after work. Not painful, but a lot of pressure blowing up that "Balloon" in my patella!! It has receded now after about four hours.
I also went to the jeweler to pick up the rings and mom's watch that he appraised. When my vulture nephew comes Saturday to get the table from Dad;s house, I am giving him that wedding ring so I do not have to see my sister or be near her. I hope my mother haunts her for being so greedy, tactless and drunk.

This is something I want to share with those who may have a sweet tooth or just love pumpkin pie.

I bought a box of Kroger's Private Selection tea bags that taste just like pumpkin pie. Now, I love that pie, I have been baking them since I was five years old with my grandma. I know how it should taste. It is Orange Spice black tea bags. I know Kroger is brother to Ralph's, Lion etc stores. but if you have this company near you, try them. I was shocked that it hit so close to the real thing!
Unfortunately for me, they are not decaf, but I drink it on my days off when I do not have to go to bed early.

It is time for me to get more involved with the team. you seem like close family.
I was pretty happy on Monday, went to the Dr after my blood worrk. He told me to stand up tall when I walk out the clinic, hold my head up high. He is very proud of me, and I should be proud of me too.
I wanted to cry.. hard work does pay off...
Prayers sent for everyone...

Debbie, I don't consider friends showing concern as being nosey.

Andrew lives about a 2 hour drive from here. He is working during the day and taking classes at night on the GI Bill. He will text me when he gets a chance, but I haven't heard from him since Saturday.

Dear Alan,
My heart goes out to your son & d-i-l. Losing a baby is a heart wrenching thing to endure. There are many things people say at times like these, none of which makes the person whose heart is broken feel any better. I know you love them both & want to be supportive, but it seems they are wanting to be alone with their grief for now. A very common reaction to such a sudden, devastating loss. Time & faith will slowly heal this wound for them, but it will take a lot of time. They'll let you know when they are ready to be less reclusive. Praying for them is the best thing you can do until that time.

I will certainly keep them, and you, in the white light of healing and hope all your tests have wonderful results. We seem to be hitting the age when it's one test after another. Scary! You are so meticulous about diet & exercise -- hopefully it was just the niacin elevating things.

Please let us know when you get the results -- you will be on our minds until then!

Hello all. Please excuse my lurking in the darkness, but I wanted you to know what has been happening in my life.

My youngest two sons, Andrew and Paul, were married this last March. Andrew is married to a young woman named Priscilla. She has a daughter named Luna.

Paul married Navy girl named Emily. She has 3 dogs.

We were excited to find out that Priscilla was pregnant, but this past Friday she had a miscarriage. They are devastated. They didn't want us to go to see them to try and console them.

So I'm asking you to keep them in your prayers. And while you are at it, please keep me in your prayers too. I had my 6 month check up last month and my liver function tests, AST and ALT, were elevated. He checked for any evidence of viral hepatitis and the test came back normal. He told me to discontinue taking niacin, and he will repeat the liver tests at the end of the month. If it is still elevated he recommends an ultrasound of the liver and gallbladder. Please pray with me that everything will be normal or not too serious!

James, it's a known fact that Apple products are less likely to be hacked or get viruses (virusi?) I'd heard that's because the preponderance of computer users are on PCs with Windows. I certainly am & have been all of my computing career. My BFF has a Mac & it just drives me crazy when I try to help her. So I'll stick to my PC & run all kinds of defense programs & hope for the best. Knock wood, so far so good.

I got an answer from the support team about this. The apologized & asked me to direct them to any ad I find on SP that does this kind of thing. Of course I couldn't find that ad again to save my soul.

I have never had a problem with ads popping up here. I have Windows, but my ad blocker is great. There is just that annoying ugly red banner at the top of this page, but I tune things out that are annoying or not important.
I use the same philosophy here that I do elsewhere, like the political phone calls: IF they annoy me enough, I refuse to use them or vote for them. One week of it is enough, then it should be obvious that we do not want that product or politician.

ASPENHUGGER,
Every now and then my finger slips and I accidentally click an ad. I haven't had a problem yet, but I understand your concern. I've seen adds like that elsewhere. I use apple products, and I think Apple stuff is either more secure, or less under attack, but for whatever reason I've not had any problems for 5 years with my iPad, and I certainly couldn't say the same about Windows stuff.

btw, had an unsettling experience on SP this morning. Now that there are ads all over all the pages, there's always an ad about the banner on every day's e-mail of articles. Saw one that said "you have 2 new e-mails", & without thinking, because it's SP & so I thought it was referring to Spark Mail so I clicked on the ad. WRONG!

Immediately some woman started shouting "Your computer may have a virus! Click on the link to protect your computer!" over & over. I couldn't close the ad, couldn't click on any other browser tab ... SCARY! I know that's the bait to get your computer hijacked & then you have to pay to get access to your own computer back. I turned the computer off & luckily that got me out of it. I e-mailed the support team about it, but wanted to give yu guys a heads up.

And I'm so lucky! I can't bear to eat cotton candy -- way too sugary for my taste! Finally! Something fattening I don't like!

I think the most innocent item on planet Earth is cotton candy! Pure sugar, pretty, fluffy, light, sticky, and so innocent!!
Kind of like loading a pink pistol and handing it to a little kid!
Next in line would be the candy or caramel apple! Fruit!! What could be healthier?

I also take Vit D3 & a B complex on a daily basis. B6 helps with depression, & B12 helps with ADD.

I don't think you're a dumb cluck -- I've learned as whole lot from you! None of us really knows how our bodies work. We're all different -- what works for you might not be good for me, So we've all got to pay attention to our own bodies & figure out what works for us. Taking Western medicine's word & Big Pharma's word & thye food processing industry's word for everything is what got us into this mess in the first place!

I know James, I have a SAD light. I also have always used full spectrum light bulbs in all the lamps & electric fixtures but now that all the light bulbs are LEDs I dn't know if they make those in full spectrum -- have to go find out. I try to keep the SAD at bay with Wellbutrin & lots of Vit D3, and go outdoors at noon if at all possible.

Now that I know what's going on with me I can usually keep it under control. It was all those years of not knowing that were rough. And I'm certainly not moving north, at lest not until climate change makes Canada like California is now!

That's right Lin. Gawd... sugar is my addiction! And that's the hardest to break.

As a child of a very poor mother raising four kids alone she had 2 full time jobs to make it go. We were never allowed desserts or sweets and themn when I was on my own and working i went way overboard on the sweets. It is so ahrd to break. Coffee as well. Sugar and coffee. I can do without salt.

Don't fret James. Just look at the millions of people who drink coke. If I put a pile of salt, sugar, acid and water, caramel coloring, in front of them, how many would love it or be addicted to it?

Well it is now 4 days with none of this:
emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I didn't have any headache or withdrawal. My sore throat is now gone.

It got better quickly, but didn't fully go away instantly. It took a while for the body to reset.

I continue to take extra vitamin D. I asked my doctor about that, and for me he said up to 2000 IU was OK, but not more. I also am taking a vitamin B complex supplement. All in all my saliva is feeling normal again, not sticky like it had.

Sheesh, how could I drink all that coffee and not realize that it was slowly messing up my body chemistry. What a dumb cluck.

Thanks James -- I didn't know that about caffeine inhibiting Vit D absorption. And I almost wish I didn't! I love my coffee & don't want to give it up, ever! There are only 3 things in this world I can drink, tea, water & coffee. And I can't drink much tea -- it bothers my stomach (& tea has more caffeine than coffee!) I feel as though I've had to give up so much else: most of the things I like to eat, cigarettes, expectations of being close to my children & grandchildren, etc. ... that I want to cling to my coffee with my cold dead fingers! However, I used to drink it all day long -- joked that I should have a coffee cup surgically attached to my hand. I don't do that any more -- I make a 6 cup (48 oz) pot of coffee of a morning & then usually don't drink any more the rest of the day. I'm not addicted, but I sure do love it. (I know I'm not addicted because I can go without for days at a time if I have a cold, don't suffer withdrawal & don't really miss it.) I've been told (by the psychiatrist who diagnosed me) that high coffee consumption is a sure sign of AD/HD (which I am).

I'm also depressed, and struggle with SAD in the winter (another reason for not moving to Canada!) & supplementing with Vit D3 helps keep the SAD in check. I gave up smoking when I was so sick one late summer/early fall -- not that I wanted to but I knew I had to, & I can proudly announce that I've been a nonsmoker for 20 years. Maybe I'll find it in my heart to do the same with coffee. But not yet ...

When I was in my 20's, 30's and 40's I, too, had 8-10 cups of coffee a day. It got to where that morning boost was gone. Now I ahve one good cup o joe a day and afternoon or evening it's decaf tea.

Today is a laid back day.

That sounds lovely Debbieanne.
I am so glad you had nice weather for the walk.

James, Is that absorption true for decaf too? I only drink decaf, about four cups maybe once or twice a month. I am a decaf herbal tea drinker, straight up, no adding sugar, lemon or cream.

I've been drinking too much coffee. About 8 to 10 cups every morning.

The Mayo clinic recommends not more than about 400 to 600 mg of caffeine a day, which is about 4 to 6 cups of coffee.

8 to 10 cups seemed OK, but recently I figured out that my vitamin D was low. I figured this out because of the symptoms of a sore throat and some teeth feeling sore and loose. Low vitamin D leads to soft bones. Also my blood sugar being less under control. All of these are symptoms of low vitamin D, and when I took vitamin D supplements it helped the teeth.

But I wondered, why vitamin D, why now? Understanding that came later. My problems cleared up while I was in Europe. I didn't know why. In the end I figured it was because I wasn't drinking a pot of coffee every morning while I was there. Caffeine inhibits vitamin D absorption.

I put the pieces together this morning after googling "coffee vitamin D", and came to the conclusion while drinking my morning coffee. I poured the pot out, but at that point I had already drunk two cups.

I already feel better. The half life of caffeine in the body is 6 hours.

Ok MS. Viva Princess...

Here's where we will ahve our October conversations.

Today we had our annual Myasthenia Gravis Walk. At a lovely park in Tigard, Oregon. It was fun and we socialized with friends and met at a Starbucks after. I had a small Caramel Apple Cider (Hot and sweet)

Have a great month!
