Pretty good outing, Patrick.
Yes, we do it for the fun! Sometimes I wonder where the fun is.....!

Yesterday I finally showed up. I am in week five of being sick and my bowling showed I am getting better.
I rolled a 192, dipped to 135, then up to my avg of 155 for a 482.
My team won all four which keeps us in 3rd position but only 2 games out of 1st.

Last nightís results: 218, 178, and a 237 for a 633 series. Game 2 should have been better but tailed off in the 9th and 10th frames! I made an adjustment to start game 3 and was pleased with the results! Best series since December 3! I also won all my points against my opponent.

Team-wise, not so good. Our lead off bowler had a rare rough night and we were up yet another hot team! Iím confident weíll improve soon. And we do this for fun and fellowship!

At least you were able to adjust, Patrick. Good series.

Again and for the second week in a row I had a horrible outing. My team only won the last game and not enough to help with the total pins hole we had dug ourselves into.
My series was 148,140,127. I lost another pin of avg, as well.

My scores from last evening: 190, 172, and a 181 for a 543 series. The 2nd game was a miracle to have ended up with a 172. I was at 76 in the 5th and totally clueless (OK thatís enough from the peanut gallery!), so pulled the light ball out and was able to string together 4 strikes together in the 9th and 10th plus some much needed marks in the prior frames to make it respectable. On the positive side I covered all of my 10 pins (I think there was 3 of them). I used my plastic spare ball and it worked like a charm.

I need some practice time. Not sure that will be this weekend. Besides a long run (11.5 miles) I need to get my taxes all organized so I can send them to our accountant. But maybe Iíll treat myself if I get the tax work done ó a carrot on the stick if you will!

Yesterday was so awful. I bowled a 108 my first game. REALLY!
The second game was better but not average at 140.
But I woke for the third game hitting 180. The team won that last game but lost the rest and we fell from 2nd to 3rd position.
Onward................

Last evening's results: 161, 234, and a 178 for a 573 series. Game 3 should have been WAY better, but the 10 pin was once again my enemy last night. We'll leave it at that.

I started out slow with a 137 then a 142 before hitting my stride with a 186 for 465 series.
Perhaps a 5 day migraine helped limit my success.

Last evening's results: 205, 177, and 204 for a 586 series. WAY better than the last 3 weeks! I had a 488 series last week that I was too embarrassed to post! Had good luck with the heavier ball. I do need to get some practice, but it won't be this weekend -- it's Polar Bear Plunge weekend here in Delaware.

Team wise we are in a slump. After climbing to 4th place in December we have plummeted to 9th! We'll turn it around soon enough.

And yes I am ALWAYS happy for hump day!

Last evening's results: 147, 146, and a 218 for a 511 series. My first league bowling in 3 weeks and it showed! And that was even with 3 practice games last Sunday. I started with my heavier ball but switched to my lighter ball in game 2. Took until the 3rd game for that move to pay off.

Team wise we did not do too much better. Only won game 3 when we all found our games and rolled a 804 scratch game!

On the positive side our team captain had new team shirts created. They are pretty sharp! I'll wash mine and have it ready for next week.

Yesterday was the last bowling until January 8th.
My team won three of four and are just one game out of first.
series. My bowling was improved and I rolled a 470 series.
I decided part of my problem lately is I am pulling the ball, so tried not do that.
I am also throwing left and no matter how far left I move I am still heading left. Yesterday I worked on that as well.
Maybe over the two week layoff I'll go in and practice without the pressure of league.

Patrick, you are on a roll. Good bowling.
Yesterday I did better but still not good or good enough. My team lost all four to the second place team for the 2019 position round. We flip flopped positions. Darn.
I rolled 144, 154, 174 for a 470 series.

We are bowling next week then we are off for two weeks. I am hoping that will give my wrist time to rest and heal.

Last night: 209, 233, and a 190 for a 632 series. Two ď6ísĒ in aa row! YAY!! The 190 was a miracle of sorts ó started out game 3 with two ten misses (ARGH), then two strikes, then a chopped 6-10! 75 after 5, but had a strong 2nd half to salvage the 190! The key to the improved scores is just getting strikes and a lot of them! I need to be more consistent on the ten pin conversions!

Team wise we did VERY well ó won all 4! Position round next week to end the 2019 part of the season. We also have a Christmas buffet next Tuesday.

Congratulations, Patrick. WTG!! You should be beaming with pride.

I finally showed back up for my team. 148,157,169. And we won all four propelling us to 1st place.

Next week is first half position round and we have a tight competition with the 2nd place team so it will be fun to see how it shakes out.

Last evening: 169, 299, and a 169 for a 637 series. Yes, a 299! And unlike my only other 299 back in 2011, I put the ball right where I wanted, but my arch enemy the 10 pin had other ideas! The first 11 were all very good. I am very proud of the game. I wish the other two would have been a tad better, but Iím actually happy in game 3, I only had 60 after 5 (Iím sure aa little letdown after the 299) but pulled it together and knocked down 109 to salvage the game.

Team wise ó we won all 4! We are on a bit of a run as of late, and Iím sure my 201 average over the past 3 weeks is helping.

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone.

Yesterday I had my worse day this season bowling. 135,139,118. OMG.
But my team took 3 of 4 thanks to my three team mates.

Last evening's scores: 159 (ARGH!), then a great comeback with a 216 and a 213 for a 588 series! I was pretty frustrated after game 1 but one of my teammate suggested moving 1 board right (lots of 10 pins standing, many of which I did not convert!), and the strikes starting pouring in!

Head to head i won games 1 and 3 and my opponent got game 2 and series. Team-wise, we lost all 4! But we had fun!

I see I haven't posted since 10/9. Think I know why. I have bowled terribly most weeks since then. My avg 10/9 was 160 and it's now down to 156.
But yesterday I had a good three games of 156,162,170 for 489. I will definitely take it.
Plus my team lost all those weeks I bowled poorly and we went from 1st to 4th position.
Yesterday we won all games and made up one slot.
I'm not saying my bowling was the reasons for losing or winning, it just so happened that we were all up and down and inconsistent and the other teams bowled better.
That's the way it is. And like Patrick, it's good time and socialization.

After a two week break, back to the hardwoods: 158, 175, and a 200 for a 533 series. I did not get in any practice during my break so the 158 score was not a surprise. Happy that I improved throughout the evening. Used the heavier ball, and since it has much more hook, it took time to find the right spot.

Team-wise, it was a rough night. Dropped all four games. But itís all about fun and guy time, so itís all good.

Last nightís scores: Off to a rousing start with a 233, then just ďlostĒ it with a 148 and a 146 for a 527 series. I tried just about every idea I could think of in those last two games, but it was splits, chops, and just a mess! I really need to get some practice time in but havenít figured out where to slot that in. A few years back I was able to go to my local alley on Friday lunch time but they no longer are open (been that way for a few years).

Team-wise, we won 3 out of 4, so that makes my mess much more bearable!

Lou, you really have had your issues and pain from your back and hand/wrist. It's too bad that something can't be figured out since we have all this high tech and high intellect medical breakthrough science. Huh.
At any rate, it doesn't sound as though you are sitting around moping. It's good you have the bowling association interest that propel you to stay active.
Take care and mend.

Hi Cat and Patrick.

I have been missing in action, or more accurately, missing from action. And I haven't been getting notices from SP of your postings.

I have copied each of your entries from back when I last posted and will go through them to see if I can spot any tips to offer. emoticon

I am grateful you both continue to post your results. Now, if we can get others to do so, too!

My return to the lanes has been delayed again. Ongoing back cramps -- sometimes it is difficult to walk to the end of the driveway to get the newspaper, other times not so bad, just never know when they will hit despite more steroid injections in my back.

Then, about six weeks or so ago I asked the hand surgeon who did my bowling hand carpal tunnel surgery (which worked fine so I can now feel a book page to turn it or to pick up a pen) why I still had pain on the outside of that same hand from the pinkie finger down to my wrist. emoticon

He took X-rays that showed there are two bones on that meaty side of the palm. There is supposed to be space between them but mine had none so certain actions that put pressure on that area such as the weight of a bowling ball or pushing up from a chair, causes pain. emoticon

I'm not sure what to do but hope to figure out something. emoticon

Meanwhile, I continue my role as a Director of our Orlando Regional bowling association and am involved in our Hall of Fame committee and chair our All City Teams Selection Committee, naming the year's All City teams and writing the minimum standards to qualify for those teams.

Additionally, I continue to administer our Facebook page --Orlando Regional USBC.

Please continue to post. I'll make sure to check if SP notices still are not sent. Meanwhile, I have your responses to catch up on.

Bowl well. emoticon

Tuesdayís scores: 171, 173, and a 204 for a 548 series. At least my first two games were better than last week. Had issues covering the 7 pin! ARGH! Game 3 was cruising right along until an UGLY 4-6-7-9-10 showed up! Thankfully I recovered...

Team wise we only won 1 game. Not much to say there...

Rolled 174, 156, 199 for a 529 series. I'll take it.
Average going into today was 157 due to the excellent last week roll.
Guess it'll stay up there.
Hope I continue to do well.

Sorry, Mitch.
Remember I said last week I couldn't find my average?
Well, this week I blasted past it all three games.
After 3 weeks my avg was adjusted to 155 and the 4th that I bowled so poorly reduced it to 150.
This week I rolled 189,187,179 for a 555 series.
AND, the team won all three games! Bringing us up from sixth to third. WooHoo.
Now, of I can settle down and bowl my usual sweet spot in the 150's I will be thrilled.

Week 4: 151, 160, and then I found my mark and rolled a 236 for a 547 series. Right on my average for 2019 (183). Here's hoping next week I can have 3 consistent good games!

Team wise we only won one game. We're heading to the bottom quicker than we'd like!

Well, fourth week reality set in. I couldn't find my average on Wed.
And, my avg has set at 155 up from 150. Guess it'll be back down after this.

I'm a little behind:

Week 2: 182, 168, and a 221 for a 571 series.
Week 3: 212, 165, and a 170 for a 547 series.

Both weeks I used my lighter ball. Less stress on the arm / shoulders. I just need more lane time (i.e..practice time!).

Team-wise, weeks 2 and 3 have not been kind to us. We have bowled OK, but our opponents have just bowled better. OH well, we do this for fun.

Week 1 results: 173, 193, and a 167 for a 533 series. Opted to use my heavier big hook ball and it had mixed results. But with only touching my equipment 2x since the end of season, Iím really not complaining.

Better still, team took all 4! I won all of my head to head points. I didnít see how many total points we won but we will be right up there.

Sanction fee for us went to $25 also. I heard it's $35 in Tucson.
Our lineage when to $16. We lost our sponsor so the prize fund will be missing a few hundred dollars.
I bowled 168,180,149 today.

We had our league meeting last night, followed by 2 free games. 144 and a 155. The one bright spot was I finished game 2 with 3 strikes! I had all 3 balls out, and the spare ball was working pretty well. I was using my heavier ball in game 2. This is the one that I have to throw left of center so Iíll start with it next week.

Sanction fees are up to $25 (I suspect that is nationwide), and our house just replaced all the displays (overhead and on the lanes) with the latest and greatest. So lineage went up a buck, but really that is not too bad (total per week with prize $$$ is $22).

I have some more free games to use by Saturday...not sure if Iíll get back then. In any case, Iím happy to be bowling again!

We had our league formation meeting today then used our free bowling cards (previously won at events) to have some fun bowling. I tweaked my knee in an off balance release and decided to stop after two games.
Next week we begin our 33 weeks. Unfortunately we are down to six teams of four due to people moving and dropping out. At least no one died this year (or last).

Since the 2018/19 season, I have been to the alleys 1x for practice (last month). I did knock out a pair of 200+ practice games!

I did order a new bag so I can carry in 3 balls (I had used a sleeve that sat on top of my two ball bag, but that bag was at EOL so opted for a new one with MUCH better wheels).

League meeting is on 8/27, we'll get some free games that night, and then league starts on 9/3. I don't think I'll get in any practice prior to then. Hoping for a better start this season, both team and individually.

Well, it has been awhile since anyone has posted to this thread. But, with winter leagues starting soon I imagine things will pick up.
I had a good nine tap summer. For the most part I bowled really well and made some of my fees back.
Next week is winter league sign up and team formation and 8/28 is our start date for the season.
I am looking forward to the regular bowling but uncertain how many people are going to show up. We are a small area and the league is old, plus there are always drop outs and people moving.

Last evening's results: 192, 181, and a 166 for a 539 series. Missed two 7 pin conversions, nearly unheard of for me, but when you don't throw the ball right...

Hit and miss with my plastic ball on cross lane conversions. Something I'll work on this summer. Game 3 should have been better but in the 10th I left a 2-10 and was not able to convert. Just one of those nights.

Thankfully my head-to-head opponent bowled worse and I was giving him 21 pins, so swept him, and our team swept all 4 as well! Great team night!

Not bad, Patrick.
I started out with a 190 then hit 150 and slogged in with a 147. Our team won all four, which was a good time for us.
Next week is position round and the following week is the finals.
Long season but a pretty good one.

Last night's scores: 170, 214, and another 170 for a 554 series. Pretty much right on my average. Split with my opponent in the head to head.

Last evening's scores: 168, 192, and a 161 for a 521 series.

It was a weird evening. Game 1 I kept leaving the 10 pin up in spite of moving up and back on the approach. And of course I missed nearly all of them on the spare conversion! I need to bring my plastic spare ball out of retirement! Anyway, in game 2, I switched to my heavier ball and had better luck. But I think the fatigue of using the heavier ball got to me in game 3. Oh well...

On the team side, we won 3 out of 4, so i am ALWAYS happy for that!

Bet you were frustrated in that third game, Patrick. Good comeback. And, good series.

Today I couldn't get single pin spares...........145,145, then got into gear and threw a 167.

Last eveningís scores: 213, 176, and a 203 for a 592 series.

Game 3 was a near miracle. After 5 frames I had a 65! 5 straight strikes later, recovered for the 203. Won 3 out of 4 head to head, and team wise we won 3 out of 4. 24 points is what I am told we won our of 35. It was position night so we put some distance away from the team we bowled against in the standings.

Good bowling, Patrick. Consistent.

Update on my tournament.
I won 1st place for scratch all events and 2nd place for handicap all events.
My doubles placement was 5th, team next to last, and singles 3rd.

I am very pleased and hope to see some cash!!

Last Wed I didn't bowl so well with two 139's and a 171. Who knows why.

Last evening's league scores: 192, 211, and a 193 for a 596 series. Above average but shoul dhave been a "six" had I not bowled so poorly in frames 9 and 10 in game 3 (4-10 split in the 9th and a messy 1-2-8-10 in the 10th). Oh well...

Good news is the team won 3 out of 4! Not sure how many points but we should have done well.

Team event for the city tournament today and I bowled well. 503 series and all games over my average.

The team, on the other hand did not do as well. One guy never saw anywhere close to his average, the other two were up and down. But we did have fun.

What is ironic is my single/double six game average was 167.666 and my three game team avg was 167.666 Huh!

Nice rolling, Patrick.
I, on the other hand, wasn't so successful yesterday.
160,169,113. And our team lost all games.
We had to give the other team 111 pins handicap per game which is very difficult to make up if they bowl over their avg and we bowl under.

I have Sunday to look forward to for the team event of the city tournament. Perhaps I'll bowl good in that.

Last eveningís league scores: 188, 199, and a 202 for a 589 series. I loved the consistency!

Game 1 did not start well. After a strike in frame 1, back to back splits and a missed 10 pin (my only one all night!). Thankfully a 4 bagger bailed that game out!

10 pin conversions ó 7 for 8!! And a 6-10 conversion to boot. REALLY happy about that!

Team wise ó not so good. We only won game 3. Not that we bowled all that bad but the team we were up against was a high average team that made their scores.

Not bad, Patrick.

I have to give you my scores for the doubles/singles events at our city tournament yesterday. I haven't bowled in two weeks due to all the snow we've gotten here and perhaps that rest helped. My tournament average is 155.
Doubles 161,155,147 for scratch series 463.
Singles 147,207,189 for scratch series 543.
I didn't pay attention to what my handicap is for the tournament but the director said my singles series would be around 750.
Over the six games I rolled a 168 average so that is good.
Next Sunday is the teams event.

Much better evening last night: 221, 163, and a 208 for a 592 series. It was weird though...game 1, at my normal spot (12th board) and the ball just was just grooving into the pocket. Game 2, same spot, ball kept missing right! Like oil appeared on my line! So game 3, moved to the 9th board and the strikes started coming back.

Anyway, it was a very good team night! We won all 4 and captured 30 points on position night, so weíll move up in the standings for sure!

I also had a disappointing day on the lanes yesterday. 131, 144, 154 for a low 429. And my team only won one game, still hold on to 6th of 8 positions.
Sunday is the beginning of our City Tournament and I'm scheduled for team play yet we are expecting 8 inches of snow tomorrow and Saturday. I can only hope the forecast are wrong and the sun is strong.

last night's scores: 179, 188, and a dreadful 154 for a 521 series. My normal spot was not doing it, covered about 50% of my ten pins, which I had plenty of! My new "problem": covering the 2-4-5 (and sometimes the 8). Missed it twice in the 10th in games 2 and 3. My regular ball isn't getting across far enough, and if I use my other ball (which I use to cover 4 and 7 pins) it hooks too much. I need to get some practice.

On the positive side, our team won 3 our of 4 and got 24 out of 35 points. ALWAYS happy for a good team night!

WAY TO GO NOTFATCAT!

I've been down this road a few times of letting time get by and then I end up at the alley starved, and the result is the same! Definition of insanity! I will make a point to add an energy bar to my bag!

Sorry about that, Patrick. I keep an energy bar in my bag just for that. I have to eat something before I get weak so I am prepared. Since I bowl during the day I take a piece of bread with peanut butter on it to eat just before we start to bowl. But by the time I get home I am starving.

Anyway,
I bowled well again Wed. 182, 135, 189 for 506. I tweaked my back and hip again during game two but managed to work through it for game three. My team won 3.

Have a good bowling week everyone.

Well i guess I was due for an off week and it was last night. 522 series, though I will take the blame for not eating any dinner before coming to the alleys. Busy work day and I just ran out of time. I donít really like the snack bar choices, but clearly by game 3 I was feeling it, so I just need to get over it and eat something.

Team wise we got thumped. Just one of those nights....

Last night: 224, 155 (ARGH!), and a 205 for a 584 series. Made a one board adjustment in game 1 and the strikes started piling up! Game 2 I had two splits early so gave up on the spot and basically just a train wreck of as game, with a missed 10 ping in frame 9 and a chopped 6-10 in the 10th! Game 3 was better with one made 10 pin but a missed one as well plus a few strings of strikes.

Team wise we lost the first two, won the 3rd and series. I won all my individual points! Not sure how many points we got (standings will come out in the next day or two). But as a team we are bowling better!

Sounds like a fine series, Patrick. Consistent.
I bowled ok yesterday, better than lately but not as good as last week.
My avg is now 147 and I rolled 146, 163, 141. My team won 2 1/2 games and remain at second to last position.
Onward.

Last night's league results: 176, 201, and a 178 for a 555 series. Wasn't getting the string of strikes but covered all of my easy spares except for one ten pin in the 3rd game (covered 5 out of 6 10 pins!). All in all not a bad night...

Team wise we won all 4! And I beat my opponent in all 4 too! We got a TON of points!

Thanks for the tips, Lou.
A couple weeks ago I tried using a wrist tape wrap product rather than my wrist band. I have a tendency to carpal tunnel and a weak spot on the outside joint of my wrist.
It worked. I didn't have any pain the first week and only one tweak of pain the second week. And, the days following bowling I did not have any pain.

Cat ~~ Good going on your consistent series! emoticon

One good video app you can download on your cell phone if you use one is Hudl Technique ( www.hudl.com ). It allows you to watch a video playback in as slow as 1/8th speed, back up, or fast forward. It's free to download.

If you feel your timing is off, a good practice tip is move way, way up on the approach toward the foul-line. You'll feel as if you are taking teeny, tiny baby steps. Concentrate on just taking your steps, letting your ball swing, then releasing it. Keep your eyes on your target. Do this for a couple of games then move your starting position back a couple of feet for another game or two.
emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Terrific series for you, too, Patrick, after the two-week break. emoticon

When shooting 10-pins, have you tried this? Only put the tips of your bowling fingers in your ball, don't squeeze, and try to roll the ball easy and straight. Got that suggestion from the PBA Hall of Famer Walter Ray Williams. Helped me convert a lot more 10s before my back got worse. Might help you, too. Maybe get you in the "Bowling for Weight Loss" Hall of Fame! emoticon
emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

I'm hopeful of a return to the lanes perhaps for a summer league. Still fighting back cramps and now worsening carpal tunnel in my bowling fingers and wrist -- I see my doctor about that in a few weeks. A wrist brace hasn't helped, the fingers and hand are constantly numb. Maybe some kind of minor surgery to relieve the pressure. We'll see.
emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Please keep posting. Cheering you all on for weekly success!

Lou

Good rolling for you, too bad for your team.
I finally, after about 5 or 6 weeks put together three decent games yesterday and rolled 499. Plus, my team won all games. Now we are second from the bottom!!

NOTFATCAT, sounds like a good plan to get a video. Iím pretty sure it will be one or two little things and youíll be right back on track.

My scores continue to improve. Last night (after 2 weeks off for the holidays): 212, 182 and a 210 for a 604 series. What has made a difference for me: 1) Sticking with the same spot on the approach (12th board); 2) Keeping my speed up. What I added last night was a tip I saw on the National Bowling Academy website: Keeping my fingers relaxed in the ball and not ďclawingĒ it. It is helping to keep up my revs, and I saw that for sure last night.

My nemesis, the 10 pin, got the best of me, but that is typical after a long layoff. I will win that battle next week!

Team-wise, not so great. We earned just 9 points last night, but I beat my man in games 1 and 2 and series, so contributed 4 points.

Well, I continue my downward bowling spiral. There is something off with my approach, release, form and my average keeps shrinking. I started season with 153 and am now at 146.
I need to get to the center when it's almost empty and video myself.

Hope the rest of you are doing better.

Hi Cat,

This isn't a bragging only thread but a place where we can indeed brag and also commiserate with each other when the pins don't fall for us or when we get hurt, whether the scores we post are from league or practice or we have a question about why something isn't working.

That was a mouthful but it boils down to hoping you and other team members will stay in touch and let us know how you're bowling, or not bowling, as in my current injured state.

Hang in there, one good shot at a time. emoticon

Greetings everyone and Merry Christmas.
I have not posted here as I have not been bowling very well at all.
Several weeks up and several weeks down and back and forth!
I blew our teams chance at first position for first half of season and start the second half in next to last position.
It is time I come out of the bowling shame and be accountable for my game, so I will begin to post here again.
Have a great Christmas and happy bowling.

Last evening's results:

159 (sigh!), 236 (YAY!) and a 181 for a 576 series. Had I been able to consistently pick up the ten pin, scores in games 1 and3 would have been higher! Game 2 was a totally clean game, including picking up both 10 pin conversions! But not too shabby for having been off two weeks!

We're off for another two weeks but hoping to get some practice in between now and 01/08/2019.

FINALLY! A night to be proud of!

179, 221, and a 252 for a 652 series! First "six" of t season.

Game 3 was one of those that could have easily been a 300! Frames 1,2, and 3: Strikes! Frame 4: 6+3! ARGH! Frames 5 through 10: Strikes! Frame 11: A 6-10 spare!

The only things I did differently: 1) I did not practice this past week. It did not seem to be helping. 2) Switched back to my Mongoose wrist guard. I do think it made a big difference. We shall see if I can repeat this performance next week.

Team-wise, we won 3 out of 4. Two good weeks in a row for the team!

A slow start average-wise, Patrick, but good news that you're focusing on the positives -- all games over average, picked up almost all of your 10-pins, team was not shut out. emoticon

Don't you wonder what scores could have been on nights such as that one if only half of the 10-pin leaves had carried for strikes? emoticon

Then there will be nights where no matter how or where we hit the pins they all fall down. Go figure. emoticon

Best of luck next week. emoticon

Last evening's scores: 174, 189, and a 172 for a 535 series. The good news was that each score was above average and they were pretty consistent. The down side is my average is a dreadful 171! Dreadful for me, that is. Back to the good news -- covered all but one of my 10 pin conversions! Down side -- only one string of strikes all night (a double in game 2). Used my lighter ball all evening, which is better for my arm (less stress) and I probably had at least 6 or 7 10 pins so I am close.

Team-wise, not so good. Won the first game but that was it. We're all in a bit of a funk right now. But we're there to have fun, and we do have that!

emoticon , Leah. I had to reschedule the back procedure until next month because I couldn't find a ride and Lyft wanted almost $50.00 before tip. Maybe something will work out for then.

Your scores were emoticon ! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Lou, am thinking of you, today! I hope the nerve block goes better than you even thought it would on Thursday!
I had the best scratch series ever today... 201(first 200 game!)-178-171. The ball and I are becoming friends...LOL! It isn't so heavy, and it is beginning to feel like it is part of my arm. Guess that's the best way to put it... I even won $4, too. With my handicap the series was 706! emoticon

Do you think your layoff affected the scores, Patrick? Did you strike after any first ball gutters?

I ask because an internet friend in Kansas told me no one in his league knows who Jacob was or how this started but when one of the league bowlers rolls a first ball gutter then follows with a strike for the spare they call it getting a Jacob.

Weird, huh?

Last evening's league scores: 137 with my lighter ball, switched to the heavier ball for games 2 and 3 -- 165 and 186. Mechanics were off -- 3 gutter balls!

Team wise we only one game 3. Team as a whole is struggling, but you know what -- it's all about having fun!

You miss bowling, Leah, and we miss reading of your bowling exploits.

Sorry about your friend. So sudden. emoticon

Hope you are able to bowl next week. emoticon

On October 25th my new back doctor will perform a nerve block in my back. Don't have details but will when I see her on the 22nd. So I'll be on the sidelines a while longer. emoticon

Had doctor appointments this past Monday, so haven't been bowling in over two weeks. One of our bowling buddies, who was our other team member for last years's league died over the weekend. A massive stroke. 63 years old. Sobering... he was, to all outward appearances, healthy. Bobby lived a full life and spread God's Love wherever he went. I will smile every time I remember him... and give thanks for having known him.
I hope to make it this Monday. I miss bowling!

So, on the positive side, I improved game to game. The negative was I started low -- 133, followed by a 161 and a decent 181. Just could not find a decent strike spot all evening. Team only won 1 out of 3. On vacation next week. Happy for the break all the way around!

emoticon A weird up and down start to the season, for sure, Patrick. emoticon on game three's 224!

I have used a lot of different wrist gloves over the decades but not that one. It has a metal piece inside for wrist stability, doesn't it?

A story for you youngsters: Back in the 1960s and '70s, when pro bowling was on ABC television every Saturday afternoon, bowlers who qualified for the telecast often earned extra money by using a certain bowling ball, or wearing a particular wrist device.

Many of the bowlers wore a popular wrist glove that also had a metal strip inside it that could be taken out if needed, which is what a lot of bowlers who never wore a wrist glove except on TV, did so they still had their hand flexibility but also were paid by the glove company for wearing that particular glove and having it seen by millions of viewers on the televised show. emoticon

Keep working. Here's to more 200s next week. emoticon
