I don't have a set #, though I do track that and sugars and try to come in a bit lower that my range and get most of my carbs from fruits and veggie. I cut out white sugar (I use honey or coconut sugar if I want a sweetener), white flour, dairy (easy since I'm lactose intolerant).

I don't have a number for the amount of carbs I should aim for, but my doc says to cut out the "simple" or highly processed carbs as much as possible. No rich breads/rolls, brown rice instead of white rice, whole grain pasta now and then (NOT regular pasta!).

I think getting rid of the obvious sugars in your diet first is a good idea. Sometimes I try to have too many goals at once, and end up feeling overwhelmed with all of the change!

Good luck!

Happy Monday to everyone! I have a question for anyone in the group who will share...

What is your daily target for carbs? Just looking for a rule of thumb to start with.

Per my doctor's instructions, I am working on cutting out the soda and other sweet drinks, which is probably about 50% of my problem. She didn't give me a target for the carbs. I am guessing she was starting with the low hanging fruit first. :-)

Thanks!
