No I wasn't. But there are a few Maui groups that do the same thing. I think I joined at least one since I'm from Maui :)

I'm guessing you might not! haha

I started working full time (30 hours/week) after I got back from Maui last year. My husband used to tell me go visit your ohana for the summer. I never did but maybe I should have when I could.....

I was there a year ago and am missing it big time right now. My cousin from TX (we grew up together) is going for her class reunion next week and I wish I could go back to visit too! The weather here was in the 80's/90's last week. Today it went down to 70's and will be that way for several days. 70's is perfect, but felt chilly after being so hot earlier.

I will just have to go visit my own blog and look at all the pictures I took of the beaches last year! :)

Paula, you should go before you're ashes!

I didn't quite make it for my class reunion in June - waited too late to make reservations and was not willing to pay $1200 for a ticket. So I went for 3 weeks in August/September and so glad I made it back. I blogged about it (with pictures!!) - the priority was getting a tan and spending as much time as possible with ohana and school classmates. I'm ready to go back! Especially when it's a high of low 20s like today in Iowa :(

Yep. I miss O'ahu like crazy. I'm going back one day. Even if it's as ashes to be scattered. Home calls me nearly every day.

Wow! You probably know way more than me about my home state! It is true it's expensive and I even stayed away cos I didn't want to be working 2 or 3 jobs. BUT! I'm hoping someday soon to be back there. :)

I grew up in NM and AK and, for some reason, have been obsessed with HI ever since I was born. Only a slight exaggeration. I studied the language, the history, the culture, read everything I could find about HI, memorized maps, etc. Total obsession. I would dearly love to live there, but I cannot afford it. When I visited HI, I talked to people who lived there and they were all working 2-3 jobs. Living in paradise and not having time to enjoy it would be heartbreaking.

Thank you for validating my feelings about missing Hawaii....... some days are easier than others and I think what I need to do is plan a trip home soon, just not sure how I can put it together. sometimes I wonder how I ever ended up back in NorCal ......

I think we are all in a similar boat! Luckily life keeps me busy enough not to think about it so often. I tend to like the change in seasons since I didn't really experience them growing up (even though they all seemed to blend together over the last year). It's been 14 years since I've been home. Instead we've been paying for mom to come and visit us. It's much cheaper to pay for one adult airfare than for many adults.

I'll keep working at it. I'm worth it. You're worth it too.

Every day is a new day. Gotta keep on keepin' on, no matter what!

Jilly, you are NOTthe only one. I do the same things you wrote about! And I especially miss Maui during the winter months when we are deep in snow (even only 2 inches of the white stuff lol) and slipping on ice! It's been 5 years since I made it home and I'm working my way to visiting next month. Not quite certain cos I really don't like paying the high airfare! :(

I do, alot. Hawaii truly does call to me, I feel the delta breeze and think of the tradewinds cooling my cheeks.... I smell a pretty flower and think of the lovely plumeria pua permeating the air all over Maui.... I hear the sounds of the ocean and picture the waves on the beach I miss so much..... and I feel and smell the wet air after a sudden rain and smell the ua of a rain forest across this large sea that separates me from my Hawaii home.
I wonder if I am the only one.....

Just for today ..... it really is one day at a time
