I went to our local parade and showed my amazing gratitude to generations of veterans and the families of our current soldiers who allow me and my children our freedom. God Bless our troops. emoticon

I am very grateful to those who have given their lives for our country and continue to do so- and their families who continue to make sacrifices for all of us. Sharon

I certainly will do this! I am American, and I am very blessed to live in a country with the freedoms we have, freedoms that other Americans give their lives to maintain.

I watched a show yesterday that documented 9/11; the men who perpetrated the acts on that day; the lives lost; and the heroes who saved lives on that day, some losing their own in the process. Firemen, police officers, civilians, all who chose to save someone else rather than getting themselves to safety.

I have to say, I have a problem with non-Americans who want to benefit from the freedoms of our country but still pledge allegiance to their own.

God Bless America and the heroes and families of those who have lost their lives for our freedom!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

We are so very blessed to live in this great country! We have freedom to choose what we want to do with our life, that we can do anything we want! Anyone who has traveled to 2nd and 3rd world countries can tell you how privileged we are as Americans.

I thank you Daddy, for your service in the Navy! I thank you Grandma White for your service in World War II. I thank all of those unsung heroes for the privilege to actually sit and do nothing on a Monday morning, if that is what I choose!

as much as i appreciate the sacrifices that made for my country .. i'll decline
i didn't see any benefits from the many deaths of Young men and women .. but their government's big fat ego...
i'm not American.. i'll remember the deaths of my people.. my family and friends ... but I'll also remember that they were killed by American soldiers and American government.

I got up early this morning and went for a run. As I looked up at the mountains and so the flags out I thought, 'I can thank a soldier that I am free to run in this beautiful country'. Then I came home and read your challenge! It must have been a secret mind link.

Happy Memorial Day to you!

No matter the political stand or party we belong to, we all owe our freedoms to many. Many Americans gave their lives so that we may have the freedoms that we have today.

On this Memorial Day, your challenge is to take a moment of silent thanks for the brave Americans that gave their lives to our country. If you are inclined, say a prayer. Do you know of someone that has lost a loved one for our country? Let them know how thankful you are for their bravery.

Without these individual sacrifices, we wouldn't be blessed with what we have. They gave so much. We owe them a moment of thanks.

"For love of country they accepted death..." ~James A. Garfield

"But the freedom that they fought for, and the country grand they wrought for,
Is their monument to-day, and for aye." ~Thomas Dunn English

"A hero is someone who has given his or her life to something bigger than oneself."~Joseph Campbell

"I have never been able to think of the day as one of mourning; I have never quite been able to feel that half-masted flags were appropriate on Decoration Day. I have rather felt that the flag should be at the peak, because those whose dying we commemorate rejoiced in seeing it where their valor placed it. We honor them in a joyous, thankful, triumphant commemoration of what they did." ~Benjamin Harrison

To those that gave their lives for our country,
we thank you.

Shan
