1) Where do you live (i.e. City, State, Country)?:
Lancaster, NY (a suburb of Buffalo)

2) What is your area famous for regarding - Music, Attraction, and/or Historical location:
Snow!!!! Also, the Goo Goo Dolls are from here, President McKinley was shot here (not so good) and we're pretty close to Niagara Falls

3) What do you do OUTSIDE for exercise in your city?
In the warm months, we have lots of parks with walking trails. I'm not an outdoor person in the cold, but there are plenty of skiing areas, probably the same walking trails in the winter, we have a few outdoor ice rinks also.

4) When you have guests visiting, where would you take them to eat in your city? Anywhere - one of the great things about Buffalo is the food. Beef on Weck, Pizza and Chicken Wings....nothing healthy. My sisters who have left the area, always want pizza and wings when they come home. No one does pizza and wings like Buffalo!!

2) What is your area famous for regarding - Music, Attraction, and/or Historical location: Patrick Henry gave his "Give Me Libery, or Give Me Death" speech in St. John's Church in Richmond. There are lot of other historical things, like Hollywood Cemetery where several presidents are buried.

3) What do you do OUTSIDE for exercise in your city?
There are tons of beautiful parks here, and I like to visit them when the weather is nice for something to do and the walking is good too. We also have 3 amusement parks within an hour's drive.

4) When you have guests visiting, where would you take them to eat in your city? If I wanted to take them somewhere casual, one of the best pizza places downtown is called Bottom's Up Pizza where they have all kinds of pizza like a seafood one that is really good. For a nice place, I would say The Frog and the Redneck, which doesn't sound nice, but I went there once with my husband for his office xmas dinner, and the food was amazing.

It's beautiful sunny southern California so I love to go out for a jog, ride my bike, go hiking in the nearby mountains, and there's always the beach!

4) When you have guests visiting, where would you take them to eat in your city?

If they like sushi then there's Sumo Sushi, the best sushi I've ever had. But if they want more of a burger place then I'd take them to The Counter. It's a place where you can get a burger (or a salad) with whatever you want in it; I mean anything! You build it from the ground up and there's TONS of healthy options. It's different every time you go. Great, now I'm craving one!

1) Where do you live (i.e. City, State, Country)?: Pleasanton, CA

2) What is your area famous for regarding - Music, Attraction, and/or Historical location: Our Farmer's Market is held every Saturday (year round!), rain or shine. And John Madden (THE John Madden!) owns most of our downtown. :D It's a pretty nice place to live. :) I don't know too much about the area, but what I found on Wikipedia is interesting. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pleasanton,_Ca
li
fornia

3) What do you do OUTSIDE for exercise in your city? There's an awesome trail called the Iron Horse Trail which is a biking & pedestrain trail that runs through 8 or 9 communities. They're still expanding it in some areas, but I think it's supposed to be about 40 miles long, all told. There is also a swim park near downtown, but I've never been there. :)

4) When you have guests visiting, where would you take them to eat in your city? Unfortunately, my favorite restaurant, which served Afghan cuisine (yum!!) closed, so it would depend on what they wanted to eat instead of, "HEY! Check out this awesome restaurant!" There are a lot of chains that are here in CA that my family/friends from TX have never been to, so we'd probably go to those. :) One place that would be fun to go to is Stacey's, which is co-owned by Scott Adams (creater of the Dilbert comic), and the menu is hilarious to read. The food's not bad either. :D

Wow I so like this challenge... Been really, really sick this week, so trying to catch up is the order of the day... So glad this is an easy one. Thanks

!. I live in Kodiak, Alaska, USA.
2. Wow, what do I say about Kodiak. We are known around the world for a lot of reasons. One our town is on the island of Kodiak, which is also called the Emerald Isle, or the "Ireland" of North America. We are known for our huge bears, fishing, and amazing mountains. It also is known for raining a lot, we are the most northern rain forest in the world. Our fishing port is home to second largest fishing harbor in the US. We are home to the largest Coast Guard in the Nation, also a few of the ships in the show "The Deadliest Catch" call Kodiak, "home". That is just a taste of what we are known for, and thats not even touching the history of the town, in lite of Alaska, or even the U.S. during WWII. I am very blessed to call Kodiak, my home.
3. Well, living in both Alaska, and in Kodiak results in a large array of choices for "outdoor exercise". We have lots and lots of mountains and hills, so just heading to the nearest one for a hike. Or here in Kodiak heading down to the ocean results in a good climb in coming home. There is also sea kayaking, which I enjoy, but don't get to do much. I really enjoy hiking along anyone of our many trails that we have where up Old Woman Mountain, or out to Seal Beach on the Navy Seal Property, or over on Near Island, not forgetting Fort Abercrombie State Park.
4. The best place to eat here in town is "The Old Power House". This is our local sushi place. Its really good, and they cater their dishes to Kodiak, which I love, because its us.

So that is a bit of where I live. Alaska is the best place in the world, and Kodiak is one of the jewels of Alaska. Love it...

Oh and I almost forgot we are also known for our fog... LOL...

1) Where do you live (i.e. City, State, Country)?:

Normal, IL, USA

2) What is your area famous for regarding - Music, Attraction, and/or Historical location:

Town was named because Illinois State University was a "Normal school" which is what they used to call Teacher's colleges. The name stuck. We have a "Normal Citizen of the Year", but not an abnormal one! emoticon

3) What do you do OUTSIDE for exercise in your city?
Right now, unless you're totally crazy, you do all of your exercising inside. It's 17 degrees and feels much colder than that, plus snow. My exercise is running from a warm car into a warm building.

4) When you have guests visiting, where would you take them to eat in your city?

My favorite would be Alexander's Steakhouse, where they have two large grills and you cook your own steak, baked potato and Texas toast. It has a social-type appeal.

There are some public gym-style facilities, and it's always nice to take a walk and bark back at the dogs emoticon

4) When you have guests visiting, where would you take them to eat in your city?
Well, as I said, it's a village, the only commerce here is the grocery store... but there's a Moroccan restaurant nearby that could be nice for visitors.

2) What is your area famous for?:
*We are called the "Live Music Capital of the World" for the countless live bands that perform and get their start here.
*Austin is famous for the University of Texas campus (one of the 5 largest student enrollment colleges in the US).
*Austin is also the Capital of Texas.
*We also have a million and a half Mexican Free-Tailed bats that live under the Congress Avenue Bridge. People come from all over the state at dusk to see the black tornado of bats go out to feed on mosquitos for the night. It is a pretty cool site!
