Thanks so much! I had taken the plunge for September so we will see how it goes. I'm going to work on walking faster between now and then and working up to it! I read a few stories about people having a 25 minute pace on the 5k and not getting swept, so it seems like it just depends on the big picture. It also is a good thing that they are only having the 5k that day, so there isn't another race waiting in the wings, so I will definitely see what happens. I figure if I get swept at least I can say I tried. :) Thanks for the response! :D

They are strict, but it can depend on the situation. Ive done 2 Princess Half Marathons, walked them both entirely. the first one i was ok, but the second one, I hadn't been training as well as i should've been, and honestly i think the only reason i didnt get swept was because there were so many people still behind me, but i know i wasn't close to 16 minute mile.
Go for it! Its surprising how much adrenaline can push you. Dont be embarrassed and it could NEVER be a waste of time. Keep me posted!

Some awesome Sparker said it would be worth asking this question in this group... but basically from what I understand it says you can walk a 5k, but you need to maintain a 16 minute per mile pace, with a recommended 15 minute mile pace. I am a slow walker, about 20 minute mile average while walking a 5k, even if I could build up I think the fastest my slow tush could pull off is 18 minutes... I wrote to them a while back to ask how strict they are about the time limits but didn't get a response. Do they strictly enforce the 16 minute limit? I figure they are strict and that they would scoop me up in a second and it would be embarrassing and a waste of time... but figured it didn't hurt to ask! ;)
