good ones..

I tried using only a small portion of pasta then added a big pile of spinach and topped with the pasta sauce. It was so yummy and I had only a little pasta.

I might try only spinach next time. I have also used other veggies.

These are good ones so far. Here is my absolute favorite!

3 cups cooked spaghetti= 663 calories
3 cups cooked spaghetti squash= 126 calories
Total calories saved= 537 calories!!!!!

(Just so everyone knows, I post what I consider REAL size portions because that is what I eat. I never go hungry. If I could only have 3 oz of chicken with 1 cup spaghetti I would have given up the day I started. Right or wrong, it is working for me.)

Bulk Pork Sausage: 2/3 C 190 Calories, 8.5g fat
Morningstar Farms Sausage Crumbles: 2/3 C 90 Calories, 2.5g fat

The change saves me 100 calories and 6 grams of fat - mostly saturated.

I enjoy an "egg cup" (using egg substitute) most mornings and this is a great addition to that. emoticon

Used to use:
1 T. Butter / 100 calories
1 T. Margarine / 70 calories

Now only use:
I Can't Believe It's Not Butter Spray / 0 calories

Saving at least 70-100 calories or more.

I was thinking it would be fun and a learning experience to list a food you used to eat (or still do eat) then list a food that is lower in calories and a better choice using identical serving sizes. Use what ever size you would normally eat. (Personally I do not believe in the 3 oz portion size for meat.).
