You always help with your encouragement and advice.

Today I am a bit tired from all the activity - but I am staying focused. For example, rather than wasting time at work, I am tacking my in box instead a single big project.

Jackie, good for you. Realizing it is the first step and a hard one, but working on it is probably the second hardest. Good luck and let me know if I can help in any way.

I understand that challenge. I also leave way too much to do on the weekends. I think it is self sabotage. So, now I am trying to do more each day (a little at a time).

I'm praying I can get more accomplished this summer than the last two summers. My boss has given us half day Friday's off and somehow I've managed to not use that time to the best of my abilities. I want to change that.

emoticon That's great. And, check out my posting on the "I am ...topic. I feeling the same way with my exercise. I guess I am understanding more about the importance of exercise. Not just the physical benefits, but the emotional benefit as well.

For the first time in a long time, I'm not struggling ... as much. I increased my walking yesterday by just a little and I feel great about it.

I had no idea how much we have in common. I struggle with depression and emotional eating as well. Used to take medications for it, but doctor took me off. What was working for me was activity in the form of training for half marathons. Then I started having problems with my foot and can't train.

What is working for me right now is activity in the form of stair/step walking. I do it with friends and have been amazed how it really lifts my spirits and how little impact it has on my foot. I do it in the evening and by the time I come home, I just have a snack. A well planned snack. This is great growth for me because when I am home in the evenings, that is usually when I do my emotional eating.

Be gentle on yourself. Just recognizing what is going on, helps me a lot. Hopefully, it will help you, too.

We are here to support each other. No matter what that takes.

Your right, I'm more looking forward to this one coming up than I have any other trip we've taken with the in-laws. And yes, Family does = Stress.

Not doing so well. Taking vacation from mid-week to mid-week has messed me up more than any other trip we've ever taken. I'm struggling with depression and slipping back into the eating-to-sooth rhythm and struggling to just simply get back on track.

I'm struggling to get back to a good routine, but at least I feel rested and more able to create a good routine that works for me. However, I too am struggling to find enough time in the day. We are remodeling our house and there is so much to do and not enough time to do it in.

My vacation overall was good. There was a little stress here and there, but not too bad and I'm glad I'm learning to cope better, because next year they want us to do it again for my in-law's 50th wedding anniversary.

emoticon Maybe my brain fog and sleepiness has lifted! I have struggled with this for a week. almost nothing gets done and usually there is a nasty consequence from me forgetting an appt. or not paying a bill or forgetting to make a phone call.... I started going through the backed up mail this morning. I hate when I get so 'behind." And it happens often. Chris

I am struggling with my time off, too. Travelling with Mom is a mixed blessing. When she is overtired, she gives new meaning to witch. I sometimes forget she is just tired or trying to compensate her memory loss and that I am just a convenient target, but it is hard. The Serenity prayer is useful.

I'm struggling with an upcoming 'vacation.' My in-laws have changed so many 'little' thing that it's not so little anymore. I don't want to not exercise on the days we travel because I work at a desk for 8 hours, then I'll be in a car for 5-6 hours and then the next day I'll be in a car for 16 hours, but will all their 'little' changes I don't think I can fit it in now. Then we're making an extra stop that I think is stupid and I don't know why we are doing it. And I wanted to pack my own food for the trip so I didn't have to eat fast food for a day and a half, but they complained that they didn't think there'd be enough room for a cooler. And last night I found out that I can't run the morning of the 16 hour drive because I'm not allowed to take a shower where we're staying. I hate it when people are 'concerned' about your weight and health and then aren't supportive of the things you NEED to do to improve. And by the way, this is NOT a 'vacation.'

I can't seem to find enough time in the day to do all the things I want to do and sometimes even the things I NEED to do. I'm also getting frustrated with my walking/running. I feel like I've hit a wall and I'm having a hard time sticking with it. The fact that I'll be leaving town over the next week makes me even more nervous. If I'm having struggles at home, will I ever be able to do it while away?

Great idea - that works for my job. I do not try to accomplish too much on Mondays. However, I actually did join my friends after work and that was wonderful! I think I need some type of sustained physical activity to counteract the busy Monday work day.

I am really jazzed that I could do things so well WITHOUT too much pain in my foot.

Jackie, Have you thought of making Monday's your rest / relax days? We all need a day (sometimes two) a week to regroup and recharge. If Monday's are already slow days, why not allow it and not fight it?

FLYBABY54 - I tend to be a very organized person, but my craft supplies are rarely in good order. I spent a lot of time getting them organized once and that did help, but I find that in the 'crafting' department an organized mess is sometimes the best way to go. I figure as long as it's all on one table or in one room, I try not to stress about it too much. As a perfectionist it's not easy to deal with any part of my life being out of sorts.

Today I am struggling a little with motivation. I definitely need a hard kick in the right direction... I feel like doing NOTHING for the week lol

You must begin to think of yourself as becoming the person you want to be.
You must do the thing you think you cannot do.
Your goals, minus your doubts, equal your reality.
You're never beaten until you admit it.
You've got to say, I think that if I keep working at this and want it badly enough I can have it. It's called perseverance.

Does anyone else struggle with organizing craft supplies? I don't have a room I can dedicate to crafting/;painting/collageing, etc. I try to be green (don't have much extra to spend on art supplies) so I use junkmail, cardboard (instead of canvas) envelopes, etc. to paint on, make books out of. I recently gave away enough clothes to make room for 2 bookshelves (from bedroom) in my master closet...they fit and look great in there. But then I froze when I began to
start deciding what goes where. My art supplies are all over the place, makes house look messy and not conducive to arting...can't find stuff. I have to art at kitchen table. Does anyone have tips or ideas? Someone suggested I throw away all my cardboard, envelopes, cereal boxes, etc., How could they suggest that?lol. Help!

Nessalove, when several of my family members went on vacation together, I gave everyone a plastic plate, glass, bowl, spoon, fork, and knife. Each set was a different color (Cheap from walmart) Each person was responsible for his/her own dishes, keeping up with them & cleaning them (some put with personal belongings). Anyway, they had to wash their own or they had no dishes! It worked well. Even though there are only 3 of us here at my home, I am thinking about doing that here because, as you say, seems a ghost keeps putting dishes in the sink, even though, I keep telling them to rinse off and put into the dishwasher. Putting them in the sink doesn't help me. In fact, makes me angry...more work for me. I want my sink empty and clean (like Flylady)...plus we run out of silverware quickly before the dishwasher fills up....ugh... anyway, just an idea. I know how you feel.

Have you tried a chore board. A friend of mine got a poster board or a dry erase board (I don't remember which and when the kids finished their chores for the week (she controlled the check marks) then they got something. Always something small like an hour each of a video game or taking them to the park for a couple hours, but maybe something like that will work. I even heard of some people who just give their kids star stickers and the kids love being able to 'see' their accomplishments and it boosts their self-esteem and confidence in a very healthy way.

Doing okay with eating and exercising, neither are where they should be, but are better than they were.

I need to get back to some of my hobbies. But I have a ton of things to get caught up on around the house. It hasn't been cleaned in 2 weeks and I'm really starting to get bothered by it. I need to get this figured out before it gets overwhelming.

My kitchen is driving me insane.... How do you get a house full of people to rinse and load their dishes into the dishwasher... with a sign that says "Rinse your F***ing Dishes! Don't leave them in the sink!"??? Lol I am overly frustrated...

Have you tried splitting your list into sections or smaller lists, so you aren't so overwhelmed by it. Then as you see things getting crossed off, it will motivate you to do more.

Congratulations on your victory. Everything counts - each step brings you closer to where you want to be.

I think it is wonderful that you schedule time for yourself. I am working on that one.

Since I'm an emotional eater, it is very easy for me to get caught up in the people around me and destroy my good habits I worked so hard to create. So for me it starts in the mind - I have to consciously focus on the environment and how I am feeling at the moment and go from there. I also have to look at my schedule and prepare for the 'interruptions' that often occur when others are present. For example, I might have to change up my exercise times or exercise in a different room, I might have to talk with them as soon as they arrive and 'warn' them that I will probably be eating differently and to not be alarmed or offended by it, also, if it is a long period of time I HAVE to schedule down time. If that means I have to get up earlier to do so or make an excuse to just go to the mall alone and window shop, then I do it. I have learned that if I don't do these things and I don't take care of my needs first, I'm not good company and I end up offending or exploding at someone. If I take little times to do things for myself, not only can I be good company for my guests, but they often see something they need and are more comfortable getting it for themselves. Good luck and let us know if you need anything.

I did well this weekend. My husband was gone all day Saturday and I thought for sure I was going to eat everything in sight. But I did pretty well and when he finally did get home he wanted to go out to eat and I didn't get anything (which is hard for me.) I ate a small amount of leftovers instead.

Never mistake failure as final

Deciding what you want your life to be like is not hard. Deciding what you are willing to do and give up to get it, is the hard part.

I will do what I need to do in order to do what I want to do.

What you do and say is a reflection of who you are, so decide who you want to be and do it.

That is quite a challenge. Does it include sightseeing? If so, may be you can get so walking in with the hosting. Just a thought.

I'm struggling with eating right when we're hosting company for two weeks.

Lord, make my words sweet and tender- for tomorrow I may have to eat them!

How about going out of your way to attend an aerobics class that you forgot was cancelled? LOL!

LOL. I think that's funny because that sounds like something I would do.

How could I possible forget to take my bathing suit to water aerobics class!!! emoticon
Going home to get it was not feasible- over 9 miles each way. Chris

I have to be diligent about caring for myself. 100 DAYS OF WEIGHT LOSS is a great way for me to keep focused. Day 1 is July 1, 2017. Build habits to produce success. Most of these habits I have at least tried before but did not sustain. First habit: delay eating by using a timer.

After such great progress the week before last, I didn't exercise at all last week. Monday and Tuesday I was tying to get a project done that I had put off. Wednesday and Thursday are church events and Friday I went out with a friend after work. I don't get to see her often, but I love it when I do get to see her. We stayed out till midnight. Saturday I finished painting one wall in one of the spare rooms (I did 4 different color stripes,) then I got sick and Sunday I made home made potato chips with my nephew, played Mario Cart with him and finally finished the picture. For the most part it was a great weekend.

I'm so happy with myself for a change. I added 5 minutes to my walk yesterday and also added a sprint. Granted the sprint was only about 30 seconds and I lengthened the warm up and cool down times, but hey, progress is progress.
