If I had a spare room, I'd turn it into a meditation room. Your own space for a private retreat.

That' s funny! Below is the advice I gave to someone two years ago for using a spare bedroom for her own use. It's the exact plan that I'm striving to follow now for myself. Except my room is very small, so I'm pretty limited as to what I can bring into it - I'm planning on using fold-up snack tables for special projects/work, then I have a pretty dresser, chest of drawers and nightstand (bought from an on-line flea market last summer), where I will keep some clothes and makeup, but plenty of drawer space for just some of my own things that I've never had room for before. Add some pictures that will bring peace to my soul everytime I walk into the room - I'm watching for them, I will know them when I see them! And a comfy new chair - not too big, not too little, but just right!! Perfect for reading in, for flopping in when exhausted, for taking a mid-afternoon nap in. New curtains, new lamp, new rug. That' s my dream.

Fill it with the things you love, and make it your quiet escape when you need a break from the craziness of life! Make sure there's some good books in it!! Your very own personal sanctuary!

I have a bedroom that I can use for whatever I wish. Since the kids moved out it's a beautiful extra room. Large, too. I'm just not sure what to do with it. I have all of my exercise equipment in the basement so I don't want to have a second room like that. I have a full sized bed that I have pushed under a window in that room and I'm using it as a couch since finding a pretty bedspread and bolsters. I just don't know what to do with the rest of the room.

Any ideas?
