I take my kids to the park that has a walking trail. So while they are having fun playing I can get in my exercise.

Try walking around the neighborhood with your kids as they ride bikes (or whatever they may do). Also you may want to get your kids involved.

Ex. (I don't know how big your kids are) Sit ups using your kids as a leverage, push ups with them on your back. Just a suggestion.

Is there a local playgroup you could join for your kids? Perhaps some relationships could be built and you might be able to trade off watching kids now and then for a break. Also the local YMCA may have a lesser charge for membership depending on income as well as they may have childcare while you exercise.

Great job on the 2lbs!

Sometimes I get stressed when I feel trapped at home with my 2 wild boys. In the heat of summer I would take them to the mall, even if we didn't even buy anything. Just to get away and walk in the cool air conditioned air. When the weather's nice, sometimes we go on nature walks around our neighborhood. I let my 4 1/2 year old bring a bucket and I let him bring home all the neat things he finds. It keeps them entertained while I get a little exercise. Plus, sometimes just getting a little sun and fresh air takes a load off. Good luck to you and don't lose hope. Maybe with your husband gone, you'll find that you actually have more time for yourself.

We have to remember that we can not worry about that which we can not change! We must learn to do enough to say we did our best and then let God handle the rest!

I work in my garden when I can't get to the gym. I always feel more stress relief from that than when I go to the gym. It also always surprises me when I feel how sore I am the next day after garden duty. My kids play outside while I garden. They even get shovels and little dump trucks to help out sometimes. What a motivator to get fit before hubby returns! Maybe I should send mine away for a few months!

I applaud you for your attempt. What I do with my kids is I get up 40 minutes earlier than usual do my 30 minute workout. It takes me at least 10 minutes to wake up...lol Then after they are in bed I do another 30 minute DVD. If I am in a hurry I do the 8 minute Tae Bo workout. It's quick and powerful. As far as the me time is concerned take a bath after the exercise and read . It is relaxing and helps the crack of dawn wake up time seem easier. I pray your husband safety while he is away and for your SANITY also. Be Blessed :-)

I totally emphathize with you! My husband travels full time for work and last year he was gone for a 5 week stretch! I try to exercise immediately after I put my daughter to bed. Pilates or yoga DVDs are a good workout and also relaxing. Two nights a week - I have "me" time... no chores, bath, book, glass of wine, junk TV... what ever I want. The key is NO chores... no folding laundry while watching TV... none of that! My other stress reliever is that I have a couple of girlfriends who come over to my house on Wednesday nights after their kids are all in bed (husbands seem to be very co-operative that way!) and we put our feet up, have a glass of wine and visit for an hour or so.
Hope this helps - good luck!

wow five months without a partner you are a brave woman. My suggestion is exercise after they go to bed. "walk away the pounds is a FAB video and it only takes about 30 mins. I completely feel you on the stress thing and if you find a magical wand that takes it away please send it my way!

Dear God, Please help me not to gag and tie up my children.

OK, if your kids are like mine, they want to watch a show every now and then. Most likely just 30 min but hey you can get in a 15 min walk. Try to find the "Walk away the Pounds" videos they are good. You don't need much room to do them. Hope this helps.
