This is a big problem at times, I had sort of my own today, had one of the patients brought cupcakes, I thought I can eat one....I ended up eating 3. I cannot believe I did that. I will just have to do better and I CAN do it.

Well, we have all done it. I have two tricks and unfortunately, one of them won't work for you. You cook, spouse cleans (takes temptation out of the way!).

Second trick is quite simple. If you really don't need to keep the leftovers, destroy them. Destruction takes seconds...the decision takes seconds. Put pan immediately under water, pour tons of salt or sugar on them, coffee grounds, or whatever. That takes two seconds and the decision and destruction is done. Versus arguing with yourself about eating or not eating, saving or not saving. Once it is a habit, then start saving them to eat tomorrow.

Don't let one foolish mistake ruin your goals... we all do it! New day!

Carbs are definitely my weakness too! I just try to keep the tempting things out of the house. If we have something like mashed potatoes or dinner rolls that I know I'm gonna overdo, I throw it out to the dogs as soon as dinner is over so I'm not so tempted before bed.

OMG, no wonder I could resist the mashed potatoes and gravy at lunch today--you were eating them for me!

Seriously, I have times like that and I certainly sympathize with you. I've found that eating small amounts of my comfort foods--when I really need them--keeps me (most of the time) from a meltdown. That doesn't work for a lot of people, so I recommend it only if you can manage. If they're trigger foods, my method won't work.

I literally just stood at the stove eating leftover mashed potatoes straight from the pan!! How sad is that? The whole time I was doing I was thinking what are you doing? But couldn't stop myself. Somebody just send me a muzzle!! I have got to conquer the emotional and well its out so why not eat it eating habits!
