Yes...everyone who replied to this thread hit the nail on the head....bottom line - a lot of factors affect how your body loses weight :-)

I can't totally explain it, but I know that if you're losing fat and building lean muscle, you'll lose inches first. If you're just losing fat and muscle, you'll typically lose weight. Most people who just lose weight aren't really building lean muscle. When I started my journey, I strength trained 3x a week and did cardio 5x a week. I averaged 1/2 lb weight loss a week but went from size 14 to 4 in 9 months. I dropped my body fat from 35% to 22% over that period of time. So there's definitely a difference. My Nutrition Coach is Ruben (Sparkname FLEXCHEF) and he's happy to answer those questions more specifically. He also has a Spark Team called Fit To Be In Your Kitchen. Hope that helps a little.

I think it varies from person to person. it also depends on the type of exercising you are doing. IMO, if you are eating less and not exercising as much, you may lose more fat than inches, whereas if you are working out more you may lose more inches first than pounds. Also depends on type of exercise; i.e cardio or strength training.

Hi everyone. I am just curious as to how the body loses weight. Do we drop lbs or inches first? I noticed that at first I lost about 10 lbs and then I started to lose no pounds but was losing inches.
