CHALLENGE: You pick your length of time

Commit to going Meatless Every Monday. No flesh foods. No chicken, beef, pork, seafood etc. We also suggest cutting out dairy to get the biggest impact.

Tuesday thru Sunday Ė Eat at least one completely Plant Based, healthy meal each day Ė Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner.

Please note that if you want to eat fish, seafood, eggs or dairy, that is your prerogative. Feel free to do what works for you.

All fruits. These can be fresh, frozen, dried, juiced or canned.

All vegetables and leafy greens. These can be fresh, frozen, dried, juiced or canned.

All whole grains Ė Examples: whole wheat (unbleached), brown rice, quinoa, oats, oatmeal, whole grain cereal, barley, grits, whole wheat pasta, whole wheat tortillas, rice cakes and popcorn. (Avoid white, refined flour if you can)

All nuts and seeds Ė Examples: walnuts, peanuts, almonds, soynuts, pecans, pinenuts, pumpkin seeds, etc.

All legumes. That means BEANS of all kinds.

Quality vegetable oils, like olive, avocado, coconut oil, grapeseed and sesame.
Beverages: spring water, distilled water, brewed tea, freshly made juice and smoothies that you make yourself, etc. However, you should focus on increasing your water intake if you havenít been drinking enough. Give your body a rest from the dye, additives, added sugars and chemicals in many drinks.

Other plant-based foods/condiments: meat substitutes (like seitan), tofu, nut ďmilksĒ, tahini, natural/plant-based sweeteners (in moderation), seitan, vinegar, seasonings, salt, herbs and spices.

Foods to avoid or cut back on: Fried foods, food smothered with butter, fast food, high sodium foods, meat (of course), artificial sweeteners, alcohol and processed/refined sugar. Stay away from Vegetarian and Vegan junk food as much as you can.

Hi Sharon,

Glad to hear you are once again in the no-pain zone regarding your back.!

Itís exciting to hear Colorado is warming up and you and your pups are getting out. It seems you really love the outdoors and jogging. You have ďyourĒ thing to free your mind, spirit, and heart Ė the added benefit being itís good for your body and will help on your journey.
Wish I could find something I like that much!

Iíve received quite a few phone calls from the Eggs. They want me to say "thank you" telling their story - never quite understanding why they had become a demonized food item in the first place. After all, generations of people have consumed them without ill effects. For such a small transportable item, they pack a huge nutritional punch! Of course in moderation, as you say.

Thank You for your informative and comprehensive writing about Back Pain! Oh my goodness! So, so, so much I didn't know.

I've been living in misery - going to the doctor today.

I'm sorry your pain is back and hope you too will see a doctor soon if it persists.

The photos of correct sleeping postures/positions have left me wondering if I've all of a sudden "forgotten" how to sleep...LOL

Thanks Sis, for writing all the stuff I (we) need to know!

Sunday 02/16/20 = Back pain AGAIN.

No pain IN bed, just when i got OUT of bed... even if I did stretches, side bends, standing push ups... nothing took the pain away. Finally took Ibruphren, put my massage machine On and looked up WHY the body hurts sometimes AFTER I get OUT of bed.... strange.

emoticon BEST ADVICE: See a doctor, medical professional as self-diagnosis is not best, one needs a professional.

In the meantime.... we can look things up online:

emoticon I googled online to look up: "Why does my back hurt AFTER i get out of bed" ..... and here are the results:

emoticon Back pain can have causes that aren't due to underlying disease. Examples include overuse such as working out or lifting too much, prolonged sitting and lying down, sleeping in an uncomfortable position, or wearing a poorly fitting backpack.

emoticon Getting out of bed improperly
Even if a person is well rested, rising too quickly or bending too far forward when getting out of bed can place a strain on the back. To reduce the risk of morning back pain and stiffness: First, move slowly to the edge of the bed.Apr 12, 2019

emoticon Sleeping positions
If you notice back pain every morning, your sleeping posture could be the culprit. Poor sleeping positions can put pressure on your spine, causing its natural curve to flatten. This can also cause back strain and uncomfortable pressure on your joints. ... This helps to take pressure off of your back.

emoticon Sleep Better
Try lying on your side. Place a pillow between your knees to keep your spine in a neutral position and relieve strain on your back. If you need to sleep on your back, slide a pillow under your knees. Be sure to sleep on a comfortably firm mattress.

emoticon Sleep Ideas
Laying on one's back, place pillow under bent knees to help support the lower back
Also rolling up a towel and placing it on the lower back
Both will help relieve pressure on the back.
if laying on the side, bend the knees and place a pillow in between the knees for support.

emoticon Another possible cause: Sciatica

Sciatica refers to back pain caused by a problem with the sciatic nerve. This is a large nerve that runs from the lower back down the back of each leg. When something injures or puts pressure on the sciatic nerve, it can cause pain in the lower back that spreads to the hip, buttocks, and leg. How do you relieve sciatic nerve pain?

5 Tips to Relieve Sciatica Pain
Apply heat or ice. For many people with sciatica pain, having heat or cold therapy on hand is the first line of defense. ...
Stretch your hamstrings and do low-impact aerobic exercises. Save. ...
Take over-the-counter pain medications. ...
Give yourself a massage. ...
Try mind-body techniques.

emoticon Can sitting for hours cause lower back pain?

Pain that is worse after prolonged sitting.
Sitting puts pressure on the discs, causing low back pain to worsen after sitting for long periods of time. Walking and stretching can alleviate low back pain quickly, but returning to a sitting position may cause symptoms to return.

Sitting
Sit as little as possible, and only for short periods of time (10 to 15 minutes).
Sit with a back support (such as a rolled-up towel) at the curve of your back.
Keep your hips and knees at a right angle. (Use a foot rest or stool if necessary.)
Jan 22, 2014

emoticon Why is back pain at night a red flag?
Nocturnal back pain can be a symptom of spinal tumors. ... Nocturnal back pain is also a symptom of spinal bone infection (osteomyelitis) and ankylosing spondylitis (AS), a condition that can cause the spine to fuse in a fixed, immobile position. Other "red flags" include: Back pain that spreads down one or both legs.Oct 16, 2019

emoticon https://www.healthline.com/health/lower-ba
ck-pain-in-the-morning

Overview
Have you ever gotten up in the morning and experienced unexpected lower back pain? Youíre not alone. Back pain is common. Itís also often felt first thing in the morning, particularly upon moving from lying down to standing.

This pain is usually the result of stiffness from long periods of rest or decreased blood flow from sleeping. After moving around, symptoms usually subside.

While morning back pain can be periodic, some people experience it more often than others. This persistent pain can be caused by a number of issues, including:

stress
poor posture
underlying medical conditions
Causes of morning back pain
Sleeping positions
If you notice back pain every morning, your sleeping posture could be the culprit. Poor sleeping positions can put pressure on your spine, causing its natural curve to flatten.

This can also cause back strain and uncomfortable pressure on your joints. If you frequently sleep on your stomach, you may experience back pain more regularly.

Consider changing your sleeping position for better sleep and spine health. Doctors recommend sleeping on your side or on your back with a pillow beneath your knees. If sleeping on your stomach is the only comfortable position for you, place a pillow under your pelvis or lower abdomen for support. This helps to take pressure off of your back.

Bad mattress
If poor sleeping posture isnít the cause of your back pain, it could very well be your mattress. Switching out your old mattresses for a new one can greatly improve your sleep.

According to a 2009 studyTrusted Source, switching out mattresses older than nine years for newer ones can improve sleep quality, reduce back discomfort, and reduce stress symptoms.

Before choosing your next mattress, donít be afraid to ask for professional recommendations.

Pregnancy
Back pain during pregnancy is extremely common. Some women may experience this pain as early as 8 weeks into their pregnancy, but itís most likely to become a problem between the fifth and seventh month.

Pregnancy can cause strain on lower back muscles. After sleeping for a long period of time, this lower back pain can be worse in the morning, causing prolonged stiffness and muscle tightness.

To reduce pain and discomfort, try stretching and using your legs to stand up rather than putting pressure on your back. If your pain persists, a warm compress may help alleviate discomfort.

Disc degeneration
Degenerative disc disease typically occurs without a major triggering event. Itís a natural result of aging and wear and tear on your body. This age-related condition occurs when spinal discs between your vertebrae begin to deteriorate.

This can cause intense pain and discomfort that may be worse in the morning. In some cases, disc degeneration causes no discomfort. The pressure inside the disc is higher in the morning.

Treatment includes steroid injections to relieve pain or pain medication. Your doctor or physical therapist may also suggest wearing a corset or brace for back support.

Fibromyalgia
Fibromyalgia is a disorder that causes widespread musculoskeletal pain. Itís believed that fibromyalgia amplifies pain by affecting how your brain processes pain signals. Though anyone is susceptible to fibromyalgia, itís more common in women than in men.

Other symptoms associated with this condition include:

fatigue
restless sleep
memory issues
altered moods
tension headaches
irritable bowel syndrome
anxiety
depression
Thereís no cure for fibromyalgia, but there are a number of pain medications available to help improve sleep and reduce painful symptoms. Your doctor may also recommend therapy or counseling to help improve your quality of life and to teach you ways to cope with this disorder.

Treatment for morning back pain
If you do wake up in the morning with back pain, donít despair ó the following exercises and tips can help get you going while alleviating discomfort throughout the day.

Stretches in bed
One way to beat back pain is to make a habit of stretching right before you get out of bed. While lying on your back, reach your arms up above your head as far as you can. At the same time, reach your feet out in the opposite direction.

Then, bring your knees into your chest and hold for a lower back stretch. It may also feel good to gently rock from side to side.

Once you sit up, plant your feet on the ground, shoulder-width apart. Reach your arms up over your head again, then side to side for an allover stretch.

Planks
A plank works almost your entire body, particularly your core muscles. As your abdominals get stronger, youíll put less strain on your back. Doing a plank can also alleviate minor back pain, especially in the lower back.

To do a plank, start facedown on the floor. Curl your toes and keep your forearms and elbows in line with your wrists. As you lift off the floor, push yourself into your upper back and keep your chin close to your neck.

Hold your plank for up to 30 seconds, crunching your abs tight as if youíre bracing for a punch in the stomach. You should also contract your glutes and thighs. Lower and repeat if desired.

Mini-cobra
You might remember the cobra stretch from yoga class. The mini-cobra uses the same basic movements but without overstretching your lower back.

To do a mini-cobra, lie on your stomach with palms facing down lined up with the sides of your head. Your elbows and forearms should also extend in straight lines to your palms. Slowly push your palms and forearms into the floor, lifting your chest up.

Keep your head looking forward and your neck straight. Hold the stretch for up to 10 seconds at a time, repeating up to 5 times total.

Knee bends
You may find back relief, especially in the lower back, by stretching your knees and glutes. One way to do this is through an exercise called knee bends.

To perform a knee bend, squat down as if youíre trying to sit back into a chair. Keep your knees bent at 90-degree angles and make sure they donít track past your toes. Exhale on your way down, then inhale as you come back to standing. Repeat up to 10 times.

Get exercise throughout the day
Regular exercise throughout the day is key to alleviating back pain. Walking is among the best exercises, and you should aim for at least 10,000 steps per day. However, anything that gets you moving and off your feet can help keep your back strong.

Also, if you have an office job that involves sitting, itís important to take frequent breaks. Stand up at least once every 30 minutes and stretch. Standing desks can also help keep the pressure off your back during the day at work so you wonít suffer the consequences the next morning.

OTC medications
Severe back pain sometimes calls for immediate relief. Ask your doctor if you can take nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), such as ibuprofen. These are pain relievers that also reduce inflammation that may be contributing to your discomfort. Acetaminophen (Tylenol) may be another option for occasional back pain if you canít take NSAIDs.

Another OTC option is a transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) machine. Clinical reviewsTrusted Source show that TENS can be effective for severe chronic musculoskeletal pain, but tolerance to the electrical currents may need to be built up over time. Ask your doctor if a TENS machine may be appropriate for your back pain.

Topical remedies
You can also try topical remedies. Turmeric and peppermint essential oils can help. Just make sure you dilute these in carrier oils, such as those made from jojoba or olive, or else they can irritate your skin.

Outlook
Morning lower back pain is common. Pain symptoms typically improve within minutes of moving and stretching. However, if you begin to experience discomfort every morning, your pain may be indication of a bad mattress or an underlying medical condition.

If you notice worsening pain or other irregular symptoms, consult your doctor to rule out serious medical issues.

What Causes Nocturnal Pain?
Just as with normal back pain, the cause of nighttime back pain isn't always clear. Among other things, back pain can be caused by any of the following:

Problems with the way the spine moves or other mechanical problems, the most common of which is disc degeneration. Discs are tissue between the vertebrae that function as a type of shock absorber; the discs can break down with age.
Injuries such as sprains or fractures or more severe injuries such as a fall or an auto accident.
Diseases and conditions, such as scoliosis, a curvature of the spine, or spinal stenosis, a narrowing of the spinal column. Kidney stones, pregnancy, endometriosis, certain cancers, and various forms of arthritis can all lead to back pain.
A large number of the participants in the British study suffered disc degeneration.

Sometimes the cause of back pain might not be determined.

Other "red flags" include:

Back pain that spreads down one or both legs
Weakness, numbness, or tingling in legs
New problems with bowel or bladder control
Pain or throbbing in your abdomen
Fever
Spots warm to the touch
Unexplained weight loss
History of cancer
History of a suppressed immune system
History of trauma
If one or more of these symptoms accompanies back pain -- especially if you have a history of cancer -- see your doctor right away. It's also important to call the doctor if your back pain is the result of a recent injury.

It's important to note that it's rare that nighttime back pain is caused by a tumor, infection, or AS.

emoticon Dear Dee and Olivia,

Thank You Both for informing me that Shen Yun and 'Revelations' by Alvin Ailey are BOTH NOT Ballet. Truly I would have been pissed if I paid all that money thinking I was going to see a ballet. thank you.

I just wanted to see what a ballet was like IN person is all.
Not a big deal, trust me.... just curious

group hugs and gratitude to you both emoticon

Hi ladies,

I hope you both had a wonderful Wednesday!

Dee: I understand what you mean about throwing things away. I feel like I buy the same things over and over. I think weight loss is a challenge for all of us! And just think...we both wasted money on a lackluster movie with horrible language. Good times are on the way, right? Please say "right!" LOL.

Sharon: After reading your post about Shen Yun - I, like Dee. checked the prices in my area. A performance on Thursday night (yes "Thursday") has prices starting at $191 for the Balcony up to $779 for the Orchestra pit. Yet...on another website they cost $80 to $150 for the same show!

If you decide to see it and it should be amazing given the grandness of scale, shop around. Consider even driving to the venue to avoid all the ticket shysters and crooks.

I love, Love, LOVE Dee's suggestion of Alvin Ailey. This dance company IS the Trifecta! Rich in "our" culture, for us - by us, long before anyone heard of the brand name fubu. My daughter saw Revelations (the exact performance Dee mentioned) at the Kennedy Center earlier this month.

Ailey doesn't tour Arizona...Completely understandable. Not knowing if they tour Colorado, we may have to visit Dee :)

Okay, so I'm wondering..? Is your heart set on seeing a "classical ballet" performance? Shen Yun is not classical ballet and neither is Revelations. Both are amazing but the "form" is not ballet, and Ailey is "known" (perhaps best) for modern dance despite having created classical ballet works. What is most notably missing is the "en-pointe" which is dancing on the tips of one's toes. They move to the balls of their feet. but not to their toes. Dee will know best about Ailey.

If it doesn't matter, I'd see the story I like best :))

Well ladies, I'm off to bed. See you tomorrow.

Go to YouTube and type in 'Revelations' by Alvin Ailey....this is one of the best ballet groups around. I have seen them so many times. Ticket prices were very reasonable depending on where you sit.

SHEN YUN is playing here and you are right, the price of the tickets are ridiculous.

Losing weight is still a challenge for me

Olivia = I watched BAD BOYS movie didnít find it that interesting and the language was horrible. No child should see these movies.

ME: Have not started any projects, thinking about which one to start first. Also thinking about getting rid of a lot of things I have sitting around and don't use. But the thought of throwing it away makes me feel like I will need it soon.

Good morning ladies, it is 8am on Wed 12 degrees

Dee = you are so right Dee... losing weight will not happen overnight.. it is a journey. Still a challenge for me... but pressing forward. Hoping you have a wonderful Wednesday.

Olivia = Glad you got to see BAD BOYS movie. I wanted to see it but the Reviews for this movie was Not good so I never went and Mainly did not go because the Trailer for the movie was kind of Weak... like Not enough excitement or special effects... nothing to lure me to GO see the movie.... but glad you both went :)
In regard to the CHILD attending that movie ... was sad. Problem is that sometimes parents do not have extra money for a babysitter. Solution: Go to the FIRST showing of any movie and there will be a greater chance of children Not being present.... thats what I do :-) No crying kids, no LOUD adults at the first showing lol.

* please read my ballet information below in a previous post .................

emoticon I was thinking of going to see a BALLET because I have NEVER been to one in my entire lifetime and saw a TV commercial about it... so I googled the ballet on GOGGLE to look it up and see WHERE it was playing in Colorado... .

Here is the LINK to the Trailer to the ShenYun ballet: www.youtube.com/watch?v=CHBo

Attending a Ballet is clearly for those who WANT to pay that much to attend a Ballet.

It is NOT that I cannot afford it because I "can"
My point is: I would NEVER pay that much for entertainment.
THAT price for a ballet is the cost of a "gown" on SALE for crying out loud... emoticon smh.

Hi Ladies,

Sharon: Congrats on losing a pound overnight! I love when that happens :) Definitely go low sodium on the sunflower seeds until you can find another snack. I know they can be addictive.

Good news (Great news!) your car insurance has gone down. I call to harass my agent each renewal period wanting a discount or more value. How wonderful to receive a discount with the same coverage without asking! Spend it on what will make you happy :)

Treadmill and taking back control! You got it!!

Dee: Yes, Fences was a very good movie! It was one of few that I watched start to finish without boredom. Washington and Davis are two of my favorite actors :)

After so many days without, I know you were glad to see the sunshine. Walking two blocks in 33 degrees is fantastic :) Funny you mentioned your sister eats salad for breakfast. I did too this morning since it was ready to go.

Me: Saw Bad Boys For Life on Saturday. I thought it was okay but audiences have given it great reviews. I may have liked it better if the person down the aisle from us hadn't brought a young child of maybe 4 years old. It's not a child's movie! Way too much cursing (unnecessary cursing) which is the "way" of movies nowadays. I know it makes me sound like I'm out of the stone age, but if the words don't advance the story or provide comedic relief, they shouldn't be there. I really felt sorry for the kid hearing a barrage of curse words, wondering how the parent would justify not using them in every day life, knowing children parrot what they hear.

SHARON: Good job of measuring your food. Stay away from the salty sunflower seeds. What is the remedy for swollen feet? You lost a pound overnight, good for you.
Take your help any way you can, a reduced rate is not easy to get. My sister eats salad for breakfast.

OLIVIA: If you get a chance watch the movie ďFENCESĒ starring Denzel Washington.

ME: Today was a nice 33 degrees sunny day. I walked (2 blocks) to my community meeting. No projects started, I have so many, I am trying to decide which one to start.

Good morning ladies,

Any plans for the weekend yet?

Thinking to see Bad Boys For Life. My daughter said it was good. From what I gather it's humor and action. My kind of movie!

SHARON :

Hope you are sleeping better. I use paper towels also to make lettuce last longer.

OLIVIA

Have a great day

ME: We have had about 11 days without "sunshine". We have also gone through 4 seasons in one day.

Hello Ladies,

Sharon: I love how you pre-prepare your meals ahead of time. Having a salad ready to go IS the ticket for success! I had not heard of the paper towel technique (layering the lettuce between paper towels) before and thank you for sharing. Who knew lettuce could last more than a few days?

Man alive! 71 degrees down to 4 is mind-blowing! If that's not a supreme example of climate change, I don't know what is?

Dee: I hope you're having a good day!

Sharon,

I'm hoping you had a good night's sleep. Just like a baby :)

No more back pain!
_________

You're definitely having some peculiar weather in Colorado. My kids in Virginia and Minnesota are saying the same, ridiculously warm and then "snap" back to normal.

So much for keeping your summer clothes put away - it keeps coming back - so imagine you're moving from one closet to another :)

Nice you watched the SuperBowl with your family. You had quite a menu going on LOL! And today's dinner (yesterday's dinner now) is/was the bomb too. I never eat "that" well on Mondays :)

I wasn't too fond of the half-time show either but some of the commercials were good.

Hello Ladies

OLIVIA: you are right, some project make you lose your religion
You are absolutely right about the fruits and veggies containing carbs and sugar. I am trying to lose weight (my reason for being on Spark People. I am seeing a nutritionist and was told to eat half a banana, too much sugar to eat a whole one. ľ c pasta/rice otherwise you have too many carbs. I lost ten pounds just following the simple tips she gave me.

You really have to educate yourself about food and read labels. Thanks for the food lesson

I thought I was a procrastinator. I call a friend who I know will talk a long time and I get plenty of projects done just talking with her on the phone. I do enjoy talking to here even when I don't have any projects. It seems I get them done faster and it doesn't seem like a project.

Sharon: back pain is awful. I have it sometimes but I donít suffer like some people I know.

Today I am having smoked spare ribs, baked beans, smothered cabbage, and cornbread

ME: We had a family super bowl party just my kids and grand kids. I did not like the half time show. We had salad, dips, chicken wings, pizza, sub sandwiches, ice cream and cookies.

I'm happy to report I just transported my screens and they made it safely (lol). I have a Jeep and so had to stand them, then forgot I had them, made a turn and they fell over! Feared the worse but it was okay.

Sharon: I know what you mean about hiring professionals and I will for the next leg. I was doing bug screens, not full window solar screens which are twice the size. When I got an estimate yesterday from Ace Hardware I was told I would have to rent a truck with a 9 ft bed or a moving truck. Two of the screens are 6 ft on their longest side and three are 7 ft. Most of the problem I was having working with the a "half-size" was finding an adequately sized place to work. My dining room table was not a option! To do the full screens I would need a ping-pong table which like my dining table I wouldn't take a chance to scratch. All things considered, I'm thinking now to replace them. No moving trucks to and from, and no hiring of someone to install.

I get the "spirit" of you're saying about the doctor's diet, but I still think most people would be hard pressed to know fruits from vegetables. Unbelievably, all of these are "botanically" fruits: tomatoes, pumpkin , peppers, cucumbers, pea pods, string beans, olives, avocados, egg plant, corn, zucchini, chick peas, and okra. Avocados and olives are high in fat albeit healthy fats. Corn, pumpkin and beans (also on the list) have their own story to tell with sugar, carbs, fiber, and protein..

I must admit I had no idea many of these were fruits and I'm far from stupid when it comes to food. How many fruits go into a salad that one thinks are vegetables? For me it's tomatoes, cucumbers, olive, peppers, and avocados. Truth is with those I don't need the lettuce which is "still" a vegetable LOL!

Sis, I'm not being argumentative - but nutritional information and how it correlates to health is sorely lacking in our country. I'm fat by "choice." I know what to do and don't. Yet, there are people walking around with type 2 diabetes who have NO clue how they got there or how to manage their illness through diet.

Not all of course, but some.

THANKS BE TO G_D! I am finished, the screens are done :)

Let me tell ya this was the last thing I wanted to do today, so first I called my daughter. An hour and 40 minutes later I hung up. Then I piddled around for while. And then it was time to get down to business.

I had help though, short songs and great beats to keep pace...

Justa', justa' justa' little respect...:)

And

Good morning ladies:

Dee = may I ask what did you cook recently? :-) hope you had a fun day.

Olivia = you sweet angel...most people DO know the difference between veggies and fruits babysis... unless someone is living in a third world country.

Yes there are carbs in veggies
Yes there are carbs AND sugar in fruits.
FACT: there is sugar is practically EVERYTHING, even natural sugar, hence recommendation is to REDUCE sugar intake. hugssss

1) compare the carbs found in chips, donuts and candy.. the carbs is MIXED with FAT, yes?
ANYTHING with fat = has Higher caloric content
* There is NO fat in veggies or fruit and it is LOW in calories, yes?
2) Fiber is important to help things move OUT of the body, yes?
Veggies have LOTS of fiber hence eating a variety of veggies will help along with 64 oz water

Nowwww do you see why doctors recommend veg + LEAN protein ? low fat, low calories.

TV...... and here I was complaining about $75 per month.
DISH ... did mention a Sports package STARTING at $100 per month... crazy... BUT.... they get the MEN like that and the wives who want to please their men like that... a LOT of men like sports and are willing to PAY for the comfort of watching it at home. I understand.

TV SHOWS....

Love at 1st sight and that reality show of people who get out of prison and into a relationship reality shows..... I watch them once or twice and QUICKLY get burnt out of watching the obvious upcoming results and turn the channel LOL

re-screening window screens.....
taking away your will to live???? you had me busing out LAUGHING with that sentence lol
I admire your determination to DIY and not spend another dollar.
Me- I would have HIRED a professional to do it... that's just me. I am a spender. I will spend money and credit in a MINUTE if it will bring me comfort and peace of mind. Convenience and less aggravation and time wasted...and needing a professional... is reason enough to hire someone... but again that is just me. You are MORE adventurous and I am happy for you sis. Most things I can do myself or have my son do it.... but then there are times for a professional :-) hugs

okay it is 9am... time to get ON youtube LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

Hi Ladies,

Man alive! I missed one day and a lot has happened.

Dee: I know exactly what you mean about the password thing. It is a bit much! What really gripes me is businesses require different types: numbers, letters (cap and lower case) and some require special characters. To make it easy on myself I developed a cheat sheet years ago with "clues" - the passwords and user names are not written. My children thought I was a nut, but guess what? They are now doing the same thing. On the funny side, sometimes my clues are so cryptic, I have NO idea what I was going for. With that in mind, I have no fear my cheat sheet will end up in the wrong hands :)

Yes, to delete my post I simply edited with another comment.

Also, venting is good! Best to get things off your chest :)

Sharon: So glad you resolved your back pain! Using an air mattress on top your king size bed it a great idea. Is your nose touching the ceiling? LOL!

I've seen My 600 lb life and am always mystified about the doctor telling patients to eat vegetables and protein. The reason, is most people don't know fruits from vegetables and some vegetables have quite a few carbs. For example: carrots are vegetables yet they contain 6 grams of carbs and 3 grams of sugar for one medium - tomatoes are a fruit, not a vegetable - and while most know potatoes are vegetable, they are LOADED with carbs, 37 grams in one medium.
Sooooo, taking the docs advice a person could consume both carbs and sugars by doing exactly what he says, because they don't know any better. They're both natural, and organic may come from a cleaner source but the carbs and sugars remain the same.

You're getting a bargain, a "true" bargain with Dish. We have Directv, pay substantially more, but my husband won't give them up. They are the only company offering the Sunday Ticket for Football. Love it, but it costs an additional $300 for the season. So lucky here paying through the nose AND handing out bonuses...UGH!!! We'll have to call again (as you did) to renegotiate the rate.

I also like Married at First Sight, but forget to follow it. Thanks for the update :)

Great dinner you had...Nice and Healthy!

Me: I've been re-screening window screens. Don't believe YouTube! It's a test of endurance and patience! My first screen took 1 hour and 45 minutes. The second took 50 minutes. Three more today took a total of 4 hours. Why??? That's what I want to know!!! I want to know why a simple process is taking away my will to live (lol). It's been a case of putting one together and taking it apart...OVER and OVER again. It's RIDICULOUSLY HARD to get a smooth tight finish without bubbles! The third side is make or break and I'm hittin' break hard.

G_D help me...I'm not nearly finished!

Oh, well...

See you tomorrow!

Hi Dee and Olivia, hope you both slept well and ready for the weekend :-)

01/31/20

I have a king size bed.
I usually use an AIR mattress on my king size bed because the bed is too HARD without it.
After 7 months, the $50 AIR mattress got a leak in it, I threw it out.
P.S. I always have spares aka: backups

Why didn't I immediately replace the air mattress?
Because I was lazy, didnt want to, air mattresses are HEAVY to lift and unfold. So I thought I didn't need it and just slept directly on the king-size bed.

I successfully slept on the regular king size mattress and after a week or so... I started getting BACK PAIN, after days of ibuprofen and using back massage machines, I remembered that it may be due to the Mattress I am sleeping on. emoticon as I had NOT moved anything heavy or light that week.

The king size AIR MATTRESS was installed on TOP of my regular king size bed and I slept on it... and immediately I felt like I was sleeping on a CLOUD.... wonderful.

I woke up this morning PAIN - FREE emoticon

Life is good again emoticon

Tonight, watching: Married at first sight series on TV

update... oh lawrd emoticon

Married at first sight.... is couples getting married and have NEVER met nor talked nor seen prior to the wedding day... for real.

This black couple get married
at the party after the marriage HE tells her family there is no rush for sex, only when she is ready.
On the plane ride to the HONEYMOON he tells her on the plane, if you dont have sex with me on the honeymoon night this WONT work out emoticon

They arrive at the hotel and he begins to pressure her for sex.
NOTE: Sex is not obligated during this reality show, they give couples TIME to get to know one another.

While cameras were ON and the camera men where there IN the living room, she called him on it. She said you TOLD MY FAMILY there would be no pressure for sex and only when I was ready and then on the way to the plane and ON the plane you tell me twice... if you dont have sex with me on the honeymoon NIGHT then it is OVER.

wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww on tv she shared that.
she even asked him.... didnt you tell me that?
He said NOOOOOOO

she said OFF camera you are a completely DIFFERENT person
and when the camera is present you switch up and become this other person. WOW.
what a snakeeeeeeee. She even accused him of LYING to the professionals that matched them together, she said if you showed them your REAL side, I bet they would have never matched us together. wowwwwwwwwwwwwwww. They agreed to get separate rooms and talk in the morning

shakes my head.... sad

okay commercial is over... back to the show :)

update... oh lawrd emoticon Thank God there is a 2nd black couple which is RARE.... they are having a good time... emoticon

the other 2 white couples = 1 is happy and a loving couple
the other white couple = he TOLD her that he was NOT attracted to her emoticon WOW emoticon

okay back to the tv

Insurance increases because we have to pay for the claims that were paid the previous year. It doesnít matter if you did not put in a claim. You did right to complain and threaten to leave.

All these cable companies get more expensive, you did good to get a reduced premium.

OLIVIA: How are you
How did you delete a post once you posted it. Did you just edit??? I have never been able to ďdeleteĒ a post on Spark People.

ME: Doing nothing today. I am resting my brain, I have been working on personal business for the past few days and making phone calls, it can get exhausting. Nothing can be done over the phone now . Everything has to be done online which means creating new passwords to remember. A password for everything. UGH!!! Ok I am finished ventingÖgoing to the couch to lay down.

I hate the cable/satilite company today... DISH

my 2 year satellite/cable price LOCK went from $70 per month to $75 in February ugh!

there solution was to UPGRADE for one year and get MORE channels for ONE year...ugh!

sickening.... I said no thank you

bottom line: I kept my same flex package at $75 with NO contract, no lock in.

the ONLY lock in was for one year and the 2 year was at a HIGHER price of $93.00
ridiculous

WHY have satellite tv? Because regular tv does NOT have OWN and BET, etc. thats why.

I rarely watch tv due to the internet.... but when I watch it... I want those channels available... therefore I have to KEEP the five dollar hike price increase.... sickening.

YES I get those two black channels as an ADD in package called
Heartland pkg = gives me gameshow network and OWN
Variety pkg = BET, bravo and lifetime.
on top of my regular Flex package.... all for $75 per month. ugh!

BRIGHT SIDE:
I kept my $54.00 FLEX package channels and
$6.00 Heartland package = game-show and OWN channels and
$6.00 Variety Package = BET, Bravo and lifetime channels

* I will get the heartland package for HALF price for 6 months at $3 per month

Bottom line: $72.32 for 6 months then after 6 mos = $75 reg. price, no contract

ty for listening to my Venting... it is what it is.

Good morning Olivia,

thanks for asking about my babies.

Did you get or make an opportunity to relax or do something nice for YOU yet?
sometimes I worry that you do so much little angel.

Good morning Dee, hope you are having a good day.

me = this is day 2 of my back aches. It seems like I slept wrong or pulled a muscle or maybe the bed is too hard or I made the mistake of sleeping on an air mattress in one room and slept on a regular mattress the next day.... not sure honestly.

solution: ibuprofen and electric back massager today.... and soon over days the back will get better. I know from prior experience. Ibuprofen alone... will NOT work... need the massager as well.

have a good day all.

Sharon I just asked about your fur babies, clicked "post message" and saw your answer.
Trying now to "un-ask," don't know if it will work.

emoticon UPDATE:
Terrier: no cavities yeh!!!!
Poodle: no cavities, yeh!!! but DID have 3 loose teeth, had to be extracted with xrays.
Pain meds given to the poodles and a deflammatory Spray for anal area that was a little red and puffy.

TOTAL cost $304 and that was WITH pet insurance.... otherwise I would have paid $1600

Today I got my RENEWAL notice for homeowners insurance....

My renewal reflected at $200 INCREASE and I was like what????
Mind you i had NO claims at all. Clean record.
Renewal price... $1598
last year price... $1398

So I called Allstate and complained saying I was going elsewhere to look for better ins.
They said give us a moment to see where we can save you money, I said okay, call me back.

in the Meantime.... I went online to search for other companies....

01/28/20 QUOTES for homeowners Insurance today online

ALLSTATE $1598

FARMERS $1520

LIBERTY MUTUAL $1500

AVERAGE COLORADO HOMEOWNERS INSURANCE $1650 emoticon ... lawrd
Reason: replacement cost of materials for rebuilding a home from scratch went UP. and not to mention Colorado is HAIL city..... no joke. Lots of property damage due to Hail.

emoticon Bottom line... Allstate called me back and reduced the bill to $1495 emoticon

I was very happy indeed.... I stayed with Allstate homeowners insurance and kept exceptional coverage for my home :-)

Hello Ladies

SHARON: That soup must have been good, you had none left

Hope your babies are doing well after yearly exams

OLIVIA: I have not completed as many blocks on the challenge as I wanted

Keep pushing, you will eventually get more projects done than you expected.

ME: Junk drawer finished, getting ready for "taxes" to be prepared.

Took time out to "sit and watch" Fall From Grace. It was a good movie.

A huge part of losing weight is believing you can do it and realizing it's not going to happen overnight.
