Hi all!

How did everyone do with the "I will honor myself with positive talk for 1 day this week" task?

For mine, I ate lunch out today and sat at the table writing down how I should be proud of myself for my weight loss. Normally, I always think about the weight I haven't lost (I thought it would come off much faster) but today I really spent some time writing down that I should actually be very proud. I wrote down how hard it's been and how even after falling off many times, I never quit. Then I wrote about other parts of myself in a positive way. I feel like writing down the positive talk is especially impactful. I feel pretty good right now. I hope you all do too. :)

Today was a good day. Marv and I got in our hour walk this morning. Then I went to the phone company and got a new phone. I also went to the Y and did 40 minutes of strength. This afternoon was spent relaxing and creating two anniversary cards. About 5 this evening there was a torrential downpour and thunder. Thankfully it did not last too long.

I have found a great combination for my morning protein shake! I have added a scoop of Chocolate Elevation Protein powder with a cup of the Dole Fruits and Veggie Orange Medley ( which contains mango, pineapple, banana, and sweet potatoes), and a cup of 50 calorie orange juice and have made a chocolate orange shake. It is absolutely delicious and my kids actually like it too!

One of my favorite healthy food is frozen grapes. Frozen grapes are so good and so cold and so healthy. Just be careful not to over indulge.

Tip to reduce weight: First turn your head to the right and then turn it to the left. Repeat this exercise every time you are offered something to eat.

One of our favorite healthy meals, we call it Veggie Spaghetti. Very lean Italian sausage (or chicken or turkey sausage); zucchini, onion, mushrooms, and tomatoes; and fresh Parmesan sprinkled over the top. Can be served over your choice of pasta or spaghetti squash.

Cool off with a sweet and healthy summer smoothie. Throw a banana in your blender with up to a cup of frozen fruit. Add about a cup of your milk of choice. Sometimes I sneak in a veggie like carrots or spinach for an extra nutritional boost. Blend and enjoy!

Salad made with cucumber, green onion, bell pepper, cherry tomatoes, and dried cranberries, with a balsamic vinegar and olive oil dressing (salt, pepper and oregano to season the dressing).

The egg yolk is NOT bad for you. The yolk is actually the most nutritious part of the egg. People worry about the cholesterol in eggs, but eggs also contain choline and inositol which break down that cholesterol into smaller pieces which then can pass through the arteries and into your cells where it is needed, thus NOT raising blood cholesterol levels. Part of the issue with eggs and cholesterol was the way they were cooked. Cooking with partially hydrogenated fats like margarine destroys the choline and inositol in the yolk. I tried egg whites. A woman brought them to the group breakfast. They were fried egg whites...like fried eggs without the yolks. To be honest, I am not so sure they were healthier due to the butter. At least I am not afraid of egg whites now, and I may try to cook them up sometimes, but is the yolk really that bad?

My healthy eating has been some fresh fruits - pineapples, strawberries, and watermelon. Plus some cherry tomatoes and I've had a few salads loaded with veggies and garbanzo beans (I haven't been making salads in awhile).
I also made a double batch of the spark recipe for slow cooker salsa chicken, to use in enchiladas, and found a way to lighten up my enchilada recipe too.
