Numerous set backs. The latest one was recent. after a bilateral knee replacement. I did not watch what I ate (and then the pandemic struck) and I was limited with my exercising.
I am now back on track, but it is hard.
Friends on Sparkpeople are very helpful with their encouragements. So are challenges.

After reading the set backs of others, mine are minor. I hurt my knee and for several months struggled. I started riding my stationary bike and that finally helped.

The harder part is my thyroid. I will be doing well and then suddenly it is out of wack. My metabolism slows down and exercise, eating right isn’t enough. It takes quite a while to get the body back on track and the set backs make me feel like I don’t move ahead. I have plateaued for months. Weight I lost creeps back. I haven’t given up, I just try not to let the numbers defeat me.

I have had many set backs. But the most recent one's were the pandemic and hurting my shoulder. For the pandemic I had to get my food choices under control as I was still being active. For my shoulder injury I stopped using weights and been just using body weight. Now I am slowly building back to where I was. Between the two I Waldo had a slight foot injury which caused me to stop jogging. But have not started that back up as I need to make sure my shoulder can handle it. So walking it is with short jogging on the spot spurts when at home.

You are worth all your hard work! Keep pushing everyday!

My biggest set back is a disease called Multiple Sclerosis. I can be on a good weight loss path and then a relapse hits and i cant walk or use my arms or both. Plus, IV steroids. That puts weight on.

What I do:
1. Pray
2. Rely on support from family and SP
3. Do what I can till I am out of the relapse (chair exercises or lying on the floor)
4. Yoga no matter what.
5. Laugh! (Beats the heck out of crying)

I have had numerous setbacks. I always have a setback when I go on vacation. So I have to restart my healthy habits as soon as I get home. That means stopping at the grocery on the way home to pick up a few fresh fruits and vegetables, Then I avoid the excuse of not having time to shop and deciding to order takeout instead.
I have a small knee injury that forced me to cut back on my walking and rest. So I focused on doing some upper body exercises and I continued to try to eat healthy.
Setbacks are to be expected for everyone. Nobody is perfect. So I remember to jump back on the horse as soon as possible.
