well everyone we are way behind in preparing for Christmas. now we will have to hustle to get everything done but for today there is finish the laundry, wrapping the trunks of my trees as colder weather is coming in as we speak and , bringing in my clay pots so they don't crack in the cold weather. once i find our Christmas mugs and my advent wreath we will be lighting my advent wreath and sipping on hot spiced cider. Christmas music will be in the air and I have to prepare a ged of my Fitzpatrick line today. tomorrow fasting labs & Dr appointment before the gym.

I have cooked down the carcass and de-boned it. emoticon the meat is in the freezer and the stock is cooling outside so I can remove the fat layer. then the stock will be stored in the freezer for future use. We don't try to eat it all day after day but spread it out and enjoy it in various ways. emoticon The tree & decorations are now up too! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

thought I would share that I got my labs back from yesterday and my A1c is down to 5.5 with a daily average of 111.
and my kidney function (GFR) is up 11 points to 32, so I am OUT of stage 4 severe kidney failure and into stage 3 which is less critical, and my kidneys are working better.
Very grateful today.

Just for today ..... it really is one day at a time

evening everyone,
we just came in from burning off more brambles, dead rose canes, pine branches, etc.
remember when i said i went wheat free and didn't have vertigo anymore? well, yesterday while on our trip i was...as my grandson says...glutened! the only thing i had that could of been a problem was some fries with a hamburger without bun, lettuce & tomato at a restaurant. i asked ahead of time and they said no wheat in the fries...i told dh they appeared like they might have wheat...i.e. some people dust the fries in flour to make them crisp. but i was assured no wheat...and since then headache and some vertigo. i surely hope this doesn't last because i have glorious weather to work in my gardens and i need to look down without a problem...it started as i was at the computer...so hoping it is working itself out of my system

Idiosyncratic type 2 case--and noticing a pattern: it seems that when my weight goes down ... not so hard to do with my dietary program, my blood sugars rise somewhat above my target range ... which target range I think should be between 100-110 fasting (under current treatment) ...

I had never been diagnosed as "pre-diabetic" ... and diabetes hit me pretty hard at a relatively low BMI ...

Anyway, I don't count walking among the steep hills anymore emoticon (as dedicated exercise) because I live in such conditions; so such walking happens all the time ... but it does fatigue me ... I'm usually carrying a bulky shopping load ...

Symptoms ...

A lot of changes coming my way….I was seen at the clinic …I was told the note was just an alert so she read about my osteoporosis. I told her I would not go on medication because I had been on Fosamax for almost a decade and every year I loss bone mass.
I am going on Bone up which has calcium and all the trace minerals as well as Vitamin D.

She has put in a referral for the Nutritionist and for Physical Therapy….as I know what I cannot do …now need to know what I can do…

And…big one here…HUGE ONE ACTUALLY… return to real, unprocessed foods as often as possible which means going off all wheat and wheat products…Dr. William Davis, a preventative cardiologist believes wheat to be a culprit to many of my ailments. He wrote:
Wheat Belly: Lost the Wheat, Lose the Weight & Find your Path back to Health.
He had people remove wheat because 80% of his cardiac patients were diabetic or pre-diabetic both situations that double or triple heart disease risk.
He started recommending a wheat free diet with his patients because wheat products raise the blood sugar more than a snickers bar. In 6 months he found blood sugars and HbA1c much lower to the point that some diabetics were no longer diabetic….and weight loss up to 30 lbs in 6 months…and lost inches. Issues like arthritis, sinus congestion, migraines plus many more were gone.
His conclusion: Wheat was the underlying cause for an incredible array of health problems and weight gain, and that eliminating it was key to astounding health.
Consumption of wheat, due to its unique carbohydrate, amylopectin A, triggers formation of small, dense LDL particles more than any other common food. Small, dense LDL particles are the number one cause for heart disease in the U.S. And get this there is a protein in wheat that triggers increased appetite…making you eat more and gain yet more weight! From the head down to the toes, there is no body system not affected by consumption of wheat.
ALSO he states wheat is a weak opiate…that’s right an opiate and the more you eat it the more you want. The gliadin of wheat is converted to exophins, morphine-like compounds that can be blocked with opiate-blocking drugs.
It all ties in together... leading to the realization that eliminating wheat has shown results of:
1. lower cholesterol Of higher HDL and Lower LDL
2. weight loss of 30 lbs!!!!
3. Lower r a1c’s and blood pressure readings
4. elimination breathing problems
5. reduced inflammation and a reduction in risk for heart disease
Off to learn more

Houoli makahiki hou!

Had a great time over the holidays even though it came and went way too fast.

I haven't lost much weight in the last 6 months either. I did go down 1 pants size in the last year though.

I finally set my 2012 goals. They're pretty realistic. You can check out my blog if you like.

Here's to staying on track and focused to keep the blood sugar and weight down!!!

Starting the new year having survived the Holidays and having reached my goal of 162. I'm going to try and stay in this neighborhood, and exchange a little weight for muscle. I have a pretty bad knee that gives me trouble exercising and even walking. But it is slowly getting better. Looking forward to a good year.

Today my dh and I did something we haven't done in YEARS! We simply rested! Listening to the wind chimes, watching the clouds roll over, feeling the refreshing breeze, enjoying the birds singing, smelling the flowers in bloom....we called it our lazy hazy day of summer! Topped off with a sandwich and fresh tomatoes from the garden and an afternoon treat of an ice cream cone with a pretzel on top emoticon ....no sodas or beer! And now we are going to do some genealogy research! So we are making a memory today...relaxing and enjoying the oh so short days of summer. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Hi, for some reason, I stopped getting notices when someone replies to this. I'm still here too. Been pretty busy this year. Many transitions going on in my life but I'm getting through it. They are all good transitions. The weather here has been either super hot or raining/storming. It's good thing I always have a back up plan. I've had some horrible luck with my mouth/teeth in the last few weeks. I scratched the roof of my mouth that caused an abscess. I went to the doctor and got an antibiotic then followed up with my periodontist and found out I had a cracked tooth under the gum line of an already crowned tooth and the root in the tooth next to it was dying all at the same time along with a sinus infection. Pain, pain, pain! I'm back on my way to wellness. The abscess is gone, I had the cracked tooth pulled, and a root canal done in the other. Glad that it's all over.

Now some friends and I are getting ready to plan a weekend getaway to go and visit my son in Pittsburgh over the Labor Day weekend. I'm really looking forward to it.

Have a great week!

Wow! no one visits here, oh well here is my update! I am still MIA but dropping by...I am spending huge amounts of time trying to get my gardens back in order, the storms keep being an issue. I have joined a class for better health and hopefully this will help me lower my triglys. I MUST lower them and lose weight, I am doing enough exercise and measuring food but must reduce the fat in my meals. Have a one on one scheduled with nutrionist this month and tons of appointments next tomorrow then 2 on tuesday, 3 wednesday, and 2-4 scheduled all the way through Sept 6th....so far...so you probably wont be seeing me much as my travel time to these appointments is over 3 hours in addition to time in clinic. Just wanted you to know I will check in briefly when I can but really don't have a lot of " me-free time" lately. Have a wonderful summer!

Not sure if anyone will see this but.....Thank you for the Birthday blessings and goodies. Sorry I haven't been on the boards for almost a week as I have been down with the flu, havent been up to exercising and will have to start my challenge over but nurse advised me to take it easy as this bug is laying people out for 7-14 days. Blood sugars have been really elevated.

Morning everyone! The seasons are mixed! We are having a rainy April Showers day in March; I wonder does that mean April will be windy? I have put a pot on the stove cooking down my chicken. Going to have Chicken and pop pie. (Family tradition home made noodles) lots of flavor, warms the heart and home. While these are simmering I plan to take my cup of tea and read more of the Spark! Enjoy your day!
