Drove down to Dillon to pick up a 5 year old (approx) male bichon from their rescue. Left here at 10 p.m. Got to Helena at 1 a.m. Was supposed to stay with friends there and was too wound up to sleep so stopped at WinCo and loaded up on the dried tart cherries and kept going. The clerk at WinCo warned me the elk were really bad near Boulder and he wasn't joking. I stopped in there at the 24 hour Town Pump and tried to catch a nap and wait for the sun to come up. Amazing how much blood was splattered all along I-15 on the way home today.

The new boy is a wild man. I don't think he's socialized at all. But I think once the other dogs get used to him he'll fit in just fine with the old herd of turtles. Might bring them some new energy. Was just over 700 miles roundtrip. And coming home in daylight I got to see the starting of fall colors. An hour after I got home it started to rain.

Update: our tablet is failing; so won't be able to participate,
as I won't have a gadget to utilize. Keep Sparking!

Hope to participate in the future; sometime in 2020,
while taking care of my health & getting fit in the

I'm so frustrated. I really really really need to get busy in the house but I have too many projects that are at crunch time outside because of the weather. I am so hoping that when my mom goes on her trip to New Mexico that I can get in some help to clean her side (which is not really bad) and someone to do some of the outside chores and I can get a bunch of crap out of my side of the duplex. If the weather holds I hope to get the outside painted and maybe the kitchen in my mom's side. Fence needs paint. Patio cover needs stain. Have insulation that needs to go around the foundation. Weeds and tree maintenance in the front yard and the day lilies need to be dug and moved or given or thrown...and now they are predicting snow by the weekend?

I've been able to go through just regular items, no problem.

My main issue is the couple of cloth bags that have held things for the past few decades that I know needs to be dealt with by me, however when I do I go oh yeah uh-huh, sigh, whatever, not now, well maybe now ... time speeds by as I lose track of time & it gets placed back in it's spot till the next time -- yes, these are items that have a particular time stamp of situations & emotions therein.

I want to get this dealt with as I don't want for others to if/when my time comes to depart from this world; this is for me to finally see through & it is my one main difficulty.

It really IS a 'small town' (which was this year's theme). The couple driving this jalopy are friends of my mom's and all the kids are their grandkids! I'm so excited they won the best non-commercial float. It really was creative!

The Festival Days parade was wonderful. Small town parades are usually so much fun. The drum and pipe guys from Alberta Canada always come down and they are so much fun in their kilts with their bagpipes. The high school band was better than usual. They performed somewhere (like the Rose Bowl??) last year and got spiffy new uniforms and did a much better job of marching than they have in past years. A great old car with the radiator cap open so the steam was coming out - all kinds of junk and kids in the back and the banner "Beverly Hills or Bust" - a Beverly Hillbilly knock off and it was great. And of course all the fire trucks and combines and military equipment and horses and unicycles and dance troops. And best part was one of my mom's old friends was in town and she met us so my mom got to see her. Nice walk down there and back and the weather cooperated. A great Saturday morning activity!

Please get out there and check out the "harvest moon" on Friday the 13th. It's a rare occurrence to have a full moon on Friday the 13th and it's a special one because it will appear smaller.

Had the upper left abscessed tooth pulled this afternoon. Amazing that even after the IV antibiotics and the course of antibiotics I had after the last extraction in July that there was still infection in this one? emoticon Will sleep sitting up on the couch at mother's tonight. Not feeling too chipper right now.

So thrilled to be finished with harvest cooking!! The clean up will take me a couple of days but I'm just so glad to be done! This is the longest break between winter wheat and spring wheat in the 16 years I've been cooking for this crew!

I had to make mac and cheese (it was on the menu) at the senior center so I did have a couple taste test bites but did not eat any so hopefully it wasn't enough carbs to knock me out of ketosis.

I have about an hour before I start dinner for the crew and I think I'm going to sit down in the recliner and put my feet up. My knees and ankles are really swollen. I really want this to be the last night...but we shall see. There is a lot to be done at the senior center. A ton of produce was donated and I should go deal with it - but "it's not my circus, not my monkeys" so I'm not going to get involved. I hate that she wastes so much food but I always swoop in and make the pickled beets and clean and cut the rhubarb and get it in the freezer and shell the peas and stuff and I'm just not going to step up to the plate this time. I want to get my own house in order so when it comes time to leave for vacation I am not depressed over things I didn't get done.

Will finish the winter wheat harvest tomorrow afternoon so I don't have to fix dinner and not start on the spring wheat until at least next Monday. Can sure use the break. The heat has been miserable for me this year!

Had an abscessed tooth pulled on Wednesday afternoon and ended up in the ER with a horrible sepsis infection Wednesday night so really guzzling water! Actually sipping slowly so the thing doesn't develop into a dry socket!

I should bite the bullet and go to yoga class. The woman who was the county librarian here for 30 years went to some yoga school in Maine after she retired from the library. I wanted to support her because I've only done it from books and videos but 1)too early in the morning and 2) the beginner class I attended she had a couple children there (boyfriend's grandchildren) so I was annoyed! But I know I could use help with positions!
Spent most of the day pulling weeds! Easy coming out by the roots since we got 2.2 inches of rain in the last 48 hours! Pups enjoyed basking in the sun and getting muddy. It was a real soaker!! Think it got up to 62 today. Down to 40 last night and just kept raining. I was so afraid it was going to turn to snow!!! Lots of places got snow!!

Will leave for Helena by noon tomorrow since I have to start drinking my colon prep by 4 p.m. My colonoscopy is 0630 Monday morning. My friend Vicki has to crawl out of bed & meet me at the hospital because you have to have your "driver" with you when you check in. My motel is way across town from both the VA hospital and her house! They said I should be ready to go home by 0830? Yeah, right. I plan on sleeping there as long as possible! Will drive myself back to Havre when I wake up.

Only liquid from now on. I'm going to bake some bacon & pig out and go to bed. Just came home from Wally World. Got a couple avocados to take with me just in case I feel like I need to eat. Maybe I'll try just eating once a day for a week after the procedure?

They called me about coming back to my old job at the hospital ER DESK. It is graveyards- 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. 3 days a week. Rotating days off. I'm thinking about it. I really have so much to do BUT I do get more done when I'm working just because I can't put it off until tomorrow. Plus for the days during harvest I couldn't be there by 7 p.m. I would have to get someone else to cover until about 9. The mid shift person always works until 9 anyway and could be by themselves from 7-9. The day shift is alone from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. And the graveyard is alone from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. But I want to take some little vacations and go to Oregon so just don't know. Plus I think I'll have wrist surgery after harvest. Will know more after I meet with the surgeons next month.

Maybe best thing is just to go fill out the application and explain it all and if they hire me they do and if they don't it wasn't meant to be. Could use the $$$. Also I liked that job.
More rain over the next few days! Then warm up for the weekend! Can't believe it is almost the end of June! How times flies!
