Here it is Fall! Some cooler weather. Set up a table at a ladies' event on Saturday and sold a few crafts. Did not have a lot made, so that was OK. It was a good meeting. Annual soup and sandwich at our church this Saturday. I will set up there, too. Have a lot to get done. Still clumping around in the air cast for the foot. Won't see Dr again until Oct. 22.

Have a lovely week, All!

Summer is quickly passing. Finally finished another T shirt quilt in July and now have some other projects to work on. Doing an alteration for DD. She has picked up a lovely dress that needs altered on the top and hemmed. I am going to try to attempt changing it into a handkerchief hem because of the nice filmy overlay. Also, have some pillows to make for DGD yet and some orders for some kitchen towels done in a design of a small child's dress. Will try to post those when I get them done.

Went off my sewing schedule last month to do an 'outhouse' birdhouse that I posted on my blog picture page. It turned out rather nicely like an old fashioned 'house'. It can be used for an actual bird, or a display than can hide tiny treasures. The lady that ordered it was very pleased with the results.

Hope all have been kept busy. Because of the lack of posting here, I guess lots has been going on.

Enjoy the rest of the summer, All!

Hello to All!

Sorry I have not been online for several weeks. Had non stop out of town guests for 3 weeks. Didn't make it to my garden plot, luckily, other gardeners, watered for me but the weeds, are growing better than my veggies! I am sure I have at lease 16 hours of weeding, due!

Well, I have been doing laundry, most of today, mostly bedding stuff. I decided to cut the bedskirt faux centre out, sewed a thick elastic to two corners. Placing it at the head of the box spring. My quick fix idea worked out fabulous!

Uploaded a new craft picture today. It was not of sewing items, but other things I have done. Planning to do more some time soon!

Ann, hope you get some great buys! I was sorting fabric two weeks ago and deciding what I may be able to do without. Most of it was packed again. LOL There are times I still have to buy some for a particular project. Oh, Bother!

Have a great day!

There are three major fabric stores in my city, not counting Walmart but their fabric area is very limited. Two sewing stores sell machines, plus mostly quilting fabric and supplies. The other store carry's everything and anything in regards to sewing and crafts.

The third mentioned sewing store is my favourite. They are moving across the lake. A good 3/4 of an hour or more delay in heavy traffic, which seems to becoming the norm!

At present the only fabric store I shop at, has everything marked down, 50 - 75 percent off. Good time to stock up! I just just don't have anymore storage to spare! Hmmm, I haven't used the spaces under the beds yet!

Think I will go to the fabric store today as was there a couple days ago and the bolts of fabric are dwindling down to remnants! I don't plan to go across the lake for fabric on a whim. Hope

Recently the Canadian Shopping Channel was selling Janome sewing machine bobbins and different size needles, in bulk.... so I double ordered!

The location of the New Store, is very inconvenient time wise, as at present I am 5 minutes away from the fabric store. Though I must admit, they really need a bigger store! They have needed a bigger retail space for along time!

Perhaps it would be more convient to shop online for fabric!

Still trying to get use to this new system.

We are finally heading into some warmer weather here. The rain and chilly air are suppose to move out this week and toward the end of the week we are to have more 'seasonable' weather. Woo Hoo!

In the southern Okanagan of BC ca it got to 25 C., today! Cleaned off my small deck, arrange the veggie plants, that will end up in the garden but weathering them off, as the nights still cold.

I would like to have a choice of size of font. I tried making it larger but the only thing happened was the page expanded but the font did not! Grrr, what the heck is going on?

I saw that but today I didn't get but 1. I think they have it rigged. Rainy and windy today...but so good for the garden. Love rainy weather in spring.

Hubby and I both like Gunsmoke. They don't make them today like they used to. I do like Big Bang Theory and Bones...hubby likes the NCIS shows. Usually I go to bed early and read.

We bought a HDMI cord to hook the laptop up to our flat screen to watch old TV show and movies. Just don't care for much that advertises as entertainment these day. Anyway, DH is having a great time watching Gunsmoke, the official TV channel on YouTube. We have just finished watching the first black and white 30 minute shows of the very first season. You know, Chester was kind of a funny sidekick of "Mr. Dillon". He always calls him Mr Dillon. In the later shows, Festus always called him, "Matthew." It is great fun watching these with DH.

That will be fun Ann..tv and internet combined. My computer is a desktop but is a flat screen with the computer built into the screen so it could be used as a tv. We have a flat screen tv that is not internet compatible but is HD...So many new things coming out now days. It is hard to figure it all out.

Ice Machine - Expensive piece of equipment in a fridge when for a few bucks, one can buy a bag of ice at most gas stations, for the amount of ice I would use, the bag will last all summer.

My new TV is not in operation. Well, yes it was the first day but I pushed a wrong button, so have to wait till Tuesday for service people to arrive. Good thing I got an old TV from the 50's or 60's, it may not have wi fi or hi fi or what ever they call but at least it is reliable.

I was told I would need a HDMI cable, if this is so, why wasn't one included with the darn TV?
Went out and bought the cable today but again there is a plug for one end just don't know where the opposite end is to plug into. Don't want to blow up my new TV by plugging it in the wrong place.

Well guess what? I went rummaging around where I keep the spare parts of the wi fi, TV's computer's ect. I found the new darn HDMI cable. I must have thrown it in the box of electrical stuff when the TV conked out of frustration! Come to think of it the service person mentioned that my TV box was incompatible for using a HDMI connection, I was told be to contact my internet service provider and request a new box.

Good thing they are not coming till Tuesday, I'll return the one I bought today, tomorrow.

Instead of using a wee laptop, Tuesday evening I am suppose to be able to access the web thru my new TV!

That is terrible Ann. We opt not to have icemaker as seems when we had one something always was happening to it..same as with our dishwasher. We are on well water and have a huge sand filter but we have lots of calcium so it clogs up small tubing and such..and just with hubby and I in the house now, I can wash dishes in 5 minutes or less with less water..and I don't mind filling the ice trays. Sometimes we just get so used to all the conveniences and I'm going more the simple ways again.

A few appliances died on me this month. First my TV died, too old to fork out monies to repair it. New one is arriving some time tomorrow, so I am house bound.

Then my s x s spare fridge freezer died. Cost $600.00 to repair. Decided for all the frozen food that I lost, plus the hefty repair bill was not worth the cost. Still they charged me $60.00 to haul the fridge away. Which ticked me off as I know the second hand dealer would make a good amount of $$$ to sell it second hand.

I priced new fridge/freezers with ice making machine, I was shocked to see the price of new ones today. Starting at $2,000.00 up to $5,000.00. I think that is highway robbery!

I couldn;t get on Spark People yesterday for some reason. Internet was fine even though we had storms but just this site kept me off. Was a busy cleaning day for me and spent some time yesterday evening hooking on my rug. This morning church and tonight as well. ..Busy week ahead. Got to remember to call for a hair cut on Thursday.

Have spent a lovely day today driving around. Many of the trees are in bud and pollen is high but was a terrific day to be out and about. Drove over to the dam on one of the lakes where the corp of Engineer's offices are located to purchase our year long pass for boat launching on all the area lakes. Then stopped by the other end of the lake where the youngest son is camped out. Visited with him. The DIL and MIss Molly will be out this evening after school and since spring break is next week they plan to stay until at least Monday. He has to go back to work early this time so why they won't be out there longer. Then stopped by the other DIL's to pick up eggs. She wasn't home so we just got the eggs and left. Then several errands in town and back home and been out enjoying the sunshine. We will be getting our corn seed and planting next week.

Ann, so good to have you back! I don't know anything about Mac or Explorer 8. I opted for a refurbished laptop with a Windows 7 and a refurbished PC with a Windows 7 in my office. I heard that some have not been happy with Windows 8 or Vista. I think there's a new version in the offing. From what I have heard about the Mac, is it suppose to be a more protected PC.

We are not planting or gardening yet. DH still has his rototiller at the shop. Been there since last fall. The man probably isn't able to fix it. DH will have to find someone else.

I try to go through my fabric and supplies once or twice a year. Spring will be my time this year to redo my stores. The DGD are getting into crafting and I just took some beads to them. They are making key chains and some charms for the church craft show. Their little hands have been really busy!

Still not seeing buds or anything here. Lots of brown spots out in the yard, though, where the plowing plowed up some dirt with the snow. Hope things look better soon!

Have a great weekend, Everybody!

I'm going to go through my collectibles and try to sell alot. I did that with my fabric years ago. Now my wool fabric is bigger than any cottons I ever had. Since I mainly hook rugs I use a lot of the wool at one time.

I got a new computer a year ago and went with windows 8 and do not like it much but not much else is better now days.

Our gardening has begun. Planted potatoes and some of our fruit trees are in bloom. Just cleaning up around the place mainly right now. Have to decide where we want to go our our anniversary trip in May.

Well, I sure have been absent of late. Yes I bought a new laptop but I switched to an Apple Mac Pro, as do not like Windows 8. Learning the mac is like learning to use a computer for the first time. I am slowly getting used to it. I really didn't think there would be much difference between a PC and an Apple product. Oh, I was so wrong! Some days feel like taking the mac in for an exchange, if it wasn't for the loss of monies I would.

i have two TV's that are ancient. One is a small 15" screen, the other is a 60" screen, which is the one that died last week. I bought a new TV but the item is on back order till the end of the month.

Looking forward to working in the community garden, if it ever warms up enough to do so! Going down to turn the soil this afternoon if it doesn't rain. Plan to plant a few favourite veggies in 1/2 my garden plot and flowers in the other half.

I have 4 large rubber made bins stack full of fabric I have collected over the years. Weeded the bins out earlier this week, plan to donate a lot of the fabric to the Women's Hospital Auxiliary. One great thing in the process I will achieve an empty closet, well almost…. only got one bin of favourite fabrics now, as all the other fabric is in green garbage bags waiting to be delivered

i am still remaining at my goal weight.

Good to see you Mary. I feel so for those who have problems during pregnancy. Me I was healthier then than any other time in my life. I felt so terrific too. My RA when into remission then and did not have morning sickness or anything. I did want to sleep a lot.

Almost finished with my double bunny rug..the hooking part.

Weather is a little better here today. Local schools back to classes. I need to go see the DC today. Something seems to be out in my neck causing digestive problems as well as pain on the right side of my head.

Wanted you ladies to know that last month we were number 60 on the "Hobbies and Other Interests" group here on Spark. At this point in time, we are number 55. There are 191 teams on the list. For our small team, I think this is a good number.

When they got the report back from the MRI found out there is not much they can do for my back so scheduled me for pain clinic for last week but never followed through. I had to deal with the pain on my own for almost 2 months before getting into this clinic and they never sent me their paper work they had promised to send and did not notify me where the clinic was or anything and then used an automated calling system to notify me of the appointment 2 days before and my call dropped before I could get any info..since they were not in my medical group I had no idea where they were or if my medicare would pay for it..so didn't go. I'm dealing with it ok and if I lose this weight think I will be better off. Cold temps have not helped but today was really nice for a change.

Not sewing much but am still working on a cross stitch piece.

VONBLACKBIRD ~

Glad to hear you are getting some relief to your pain.

I have good days and bad ones but now I know when I over do lifting or carrying something too heavy. Such when I go grocery shopping, it really ticks be off the young cashiers, throw the most heaviest items, all in one bag. I usually go over to the cigarette counter and reload items in my bags, so it works out to an even weight in each bag.

went to the clinic this morning and after xray told I have pinched nerve in my lower back. DUH I knew that..but they will schedule an MRI but in the meantime got muscle relaxer which has helped a lot but makes my mind fuzzy. Only thing I can manage is the cross stitching right now. Bad weather has set in...due ice and sleet tonight.

I can relate to your woes VONBLACKBIRD.

I was elected treasurer of my building. One wee problem thus far, all the recent files I was suppose to download had a 4 hour expiry date. Unfortunately my new laptop battery died. I started at 9:30 am by 3pm - called my daughter for help. Wouldn't ya know my luck, I was trying to recharge the battery but the plug-in plug was damaged. My 5pm tonight I was back to the computer shop to have it replaced. No charge of course! That was one good thing that happened today!

Have one of my art guild Christmas party tonight. Have my gift ready for the chinese Christmas exchange. We took the spoon tree to the DIL and she loves it. I'm thinking of using mine year round and put other ornaments like hearts for Valentines, eggs for Easter, etc.

Things are getting sorted out. I was just elected Treasurer for the 48 unit condo, I reside in. I have been a little anxious, because of all the electronic paper work I need to receive and send to the management company.

Ann so sorry for having problems after the potluck. I know how you feel as I have RA and can't stand for long periods of time either. Hope you get the computer problems fixed. I upgraded my windows 8 to 8.1 and think it was a big mistake as had nothing but problems since then. Can't get the wheels to spin here on SP.

Finished the cross stitch sampler and have started another cross stitched piece.

The Potluck dinner was a success with 30 people attending. I did make my dish ahead of time but could not stand let alone walk the day of the Potluck Dinner, because of lower back and hip pain from osteoporosis-arthritis flare up. Took a week to get back to normal.

I bought a new Mac Pro computer. I maybe absent for awhile longer as lost all my email contacts, due to Apple and Microsoft identities, can not merge. I will have to start all over again with an new identity on Spark People. The last time I was on SP I never signed out but this time, don't think this will work.

Ann that sounds like fun. Sounds like you have a lot of good people in your condo. One of my art guilds will be having a Christmas party the first Tuesday in December. We do the Chinese Christmas exchange. We are supposed to bring something we have made so guess what I'm taking??? We also do this party as potluck..

My other guild is just having an open house with refreshments. I'm not sure what our church is going to do. They usually have potluck too.

The rug is coming along nicely. A little less than halfway through. O and I did get out and take some autumn photos in our yard.

VONBLACKBIRD - OH, Boy! Hazards, always make the challenge more intense and interesting! I am sure you will get your art done on time! I am rooting for ya!

My condo building is having the first indoor potluck dinner for the fall on Sunday Evening. I am making "Cheesy Scalloped Potatoes" was going to cook a small roast but the lady I am sharing the work load with (setting up the tables , chairs ect.,) informed me she is bringing a cooked ham.

There are 48 units in my building, a lot of people go south for the winter, though so far we have 32 people signed up for it! Should be a good turn out! With plenty of food, one main dish, salad or dessert per person.

The last potluck dinner we were going to have in the park, behind our building but it got cancelled, because we were hit by a hail storm. Lots of scrambling of chairs. Though the storm hit before the time to start the potluck, so we moved everything back into the common room. The chairs dried off before the Potluck Dinner commenced indoors luckily, we were to all bring lawn chairs. We were going to use the community garden picnic tables for setting up the food dishes. So it was a mad dash to get the table-clothes, swooped up too!

Ann I hope I do. I had hooked a lot of the background and then changed my mind on the color. I decided I wanted a light blue sky. So I couldn't find much in the way of light blue in my stash so dug out an off white and soaked last night in water and got up early this morning and dyed in raspberry koolaid...the off white made it more aqua than the light blue I envisioned...so I will use what blues I already had and some of this aqua and it should be fine. I pulled out some of the background and just hooked in the blues...when I get to the bottom, I will do mainly white as it is supposed to be snow. The elf is on snow skis..so wanted to show a kind of hill like the patterns is drawn to show. Well off to finish tracking here and then back to hooking.

Your designs sound truly charming! Both designer rugs, will make very nice wall hangings. Recalling your rapid hooking from previous years, I know you will make the dead line!

Ann I used 28 count even weave so it is smaller than it is supposed to be but the finished size is 8x10 but will be larger when I frame it.

I've drawn 2 rugs and got them ready to hook this morning. One is a snowman and other a Christmas elf on skis. I've started the hooking on the elf. I hope to get both finished before the 21st. Our guild meets that day and last day to get hung in the gallery for our December sales.

Last night I sat down to putter around with some embroidery stitches. Mainly to see what type of machine embroidery stitches, my granddaughter would like, for her Barbie stuff. I did get the Barbie rooms created last Christmas and they are still useable! She is such a girly girl, absolutely no blue in her wardrobe except for a couple pairs of jeans.

I sew mostly on my Baby Lock Enlighten Serger. I could not remember how to thread my sewing machine nor how to change, the different embroidery stitches. That is getting pretty bad in the memory department. After perusing through the sewing machine manual, it jogged my memory, phewww!

My memory has not been the same since I was 40 years old. I was in the hospital for two months, in a coma. My neighbor took me to the hospital, the doctors did not know what caused the coma. I was not suppose to survive but I did.

When I first came out of the coma, I could not remember how to write but did remember how to read. In the fall of that year I practiced by studying how to write and spell. In the spring I took my grade 12 over again at night school. Just to prove to myself my mind was truly working right. I succeeded in all subjects with high marks and even my worst subject Math scored a grade A Several years later I completed a university course in Interior Design.

Finished the hooking on the rug and only have to bind and block it. Starting some cross stitch samplers this week. Still need to sew up the stockings and a pillow.
