Okay...it will help me get to 40 points for the day! LOL!!!

I finally got around to doing some mending for the first time in at least a year. Holy cow! What happened to my eyes??? Threading the needle was a nightmare. I guess I need one of those things that threads a needle for you. Do they work? I have more mending, but I need to change to a different thread color.

Hope everyone is having a good day!

Remember, nobody can go back to the very beginning and make a brand new start, but anyone can start here and make a brand new end.

There's a difference between interest and commitment. When you're interested in doing something, you do it only when it's convenient. When you're committed to something, you accept no excuses; only results."

Looking forward to seeing your work, Phyllis.

The tips you gave me on T shirt quilts were great. The T shirt squares were already cut when I was given the job to do. They were not all the same size. I have had patching and trimming to do. The lady who wanted me to do it has everything laid out in a picture of how she wants it to look. The whole front is all T shirts, front and back of the shirts. I am using sheets to sturdy up the patches. Nonetheless, it still stretches. I am almost ready to put the back on. It is a light fleece blanket. She is looking into getting some blanket binding for the edges. It has been a very difficult craft for me. I am hoping to get my good machine up and running so I can use the quilting foot to put it all together.

I have lots of incomplete projects that are waiting until I get this done. I need to finish some new pocket drapes for my living room window, though, to help keep the sun out. That's one thing that I have started and put off to the side.

Keep Sparkin' and Keep Stitchin'!

I am posting a pic of my new pillow case I just sewed on my page. I have dolphin neck warmers I will post a pic of when I get done with one. A couple days.

OH HOW I LOVE TO SEW!!!!! I want to make a new summer lightweight blouse, I have one but really need two. Just need to find hankerchief weight cotton, any print would do, just needs to be lightweight and cool.

Life is still good,
Phyllis

Hello Barb, Haven't seen much change in my electric bill, if anything it has gone up. My NGas bill has shrunk alot. My last monthly bill was $13.00 Maybe they made an error emoticon and I'll get a whopper bill next month.

I got a rebate cheque for fridge and dishwasher but not for the stove. I don't know why the stove was not included in the rebate.

My kitchen backsplash is white subway style tile. It looks okay with the white range hood and my white microwave looks ok in the cubby hole, that is part of the pine wood cabinets, so saved monies by not switching them to stainless steel. I was really hating the pine color but since I added stainless steel handles, it undated the look, that actually makes the cupboards look updated.

My fleece winter jacket that is lined inside, I washed it before putting it away for the season, I noticed, the elastic in one sleeve is very loose, so that is the only thing I have to repair, for now.

Hello, Ann!

Glad to see you are still around. What are you doing now? Did you see my note about getting a new frig? I am hoping since it is an energy saver, our electric bill will go down. It has gone up about 30 dollars a month. Not nice, but doable so far. I am looking to bring in some more money with some of the projects I am into.

To everyone else who stops by, "Hello, from Barb."

Youngest brother has his birthday today. He had a heart cath done last week. They changed his meds and he is doing better.

Older brother had hip replacement on Monday and came thru it well. Thank God!

It has dawned a sunny day here today and we may actually not be having rain today.

YEAH!!!!

Happy Monday morning, All!

We survived the weekend, but maybe a little sore and worn out. Lots of walking for the community yard sale on Saturday. That was a good thing because of having a bunch of pizza with the church youth on Friday night -- LOL.

It has dawned a sunny and warm day here in PA, but we are expecting rain storms again.

In general, this is what is happening: The new fridge/freezer was delivered yesterday afternoon. Needed to get a bigger one to keep all that fresh stuff in. LOL You would think with all this rain we are having, I would have time for sewing, but nary a stitch was done this week -- so far! Pizza and entertainment tonight for the youth group. Work today. Ladies meeting tomorrow. Babysit grandkids tomorrow night. Whew! thought things would slow down after the last set of holidays, but they didn't. emoticon I am thankful for the energy to keep on going!

Due to my dishwasher leaking for the 3rd time. I contemplated, to just replace the dishwasher. Since my stove was giving problems last week, decided, to buy all new kitchen appliances. I have been busy running here there and everywhere, searching for the best deals. My new appliances are to be delivered Tuesday of this coming week. I have been busy cleaning out my deep freeze section of my fridge in the kitchen and in the laundry room.
So far I got two big bags filled and stuck in the kitchen fridge/freezer, as no more room in the other fridge freezer.

I have an older washer and dryer that I brought with me from my house. They are ready for replacement too but cross my fingers, the modge podge that has held the dryer handle secured in place will last a bit longer. It has been glued on with modge podge glue and a piece of flannel fabric, since last July.

That modge podge craft glue is quite non distructive if you get a good clean seal. I used it once on my daughter's first beater car. The tail light got broken some how, so with red fabric and some modge podge glue I secured the red fabric to the car, it remained secure through all types of weather for several years, till the car would run anymore.

RHAL1462 ~ Good for YOU! I bought a new serger last summer. I bought a Enlighten baby lock the Extraordin Air threading system by Janome. I was fed up with the serger I had, too. When one enjoys sewing it is best, to have a machine that is reliable!

Well, a local sewing machine shop in consolidating 2 stores so is having a close out sale - I of course have been wanting a second top of the line serger/overlock machine to keep from having to switch needles and thread all the time.....so ran right over.....my DH would not even be my conscience when I called him! Yes, I have the machine - it was not a cheap as I had hoped, but I should not need another for a very long time. I now have a space problem, but love the machine, so I'll work it out.
Happy sewing!

Oh, My!
Now I know the true meaning behind a wireless connection. One thing conks out, wella, no TV's, No computer, laptop, or printer working! Waited a whole day and half for Telus repair service. It took him maybe 6 minutes to have everything up and running! He managed it all with a little electronic gadget no bigger than a cell phone!

I finished the Spa Bath Wraps that I was working on and everyone loved them, some to my amazement. I made a few too large and once I figured out how the elastic worked was able to make the corrections (I was using a larger than needed size of elastic). Will upload the pictures in a little while.

Going back to learning how to make clothes. This is so much fun for me!

Well SUNSHINE084 I am still here. Just resurrecting some old topics, to get rid of the Christmas topics. It would be nice if the leaders could archive old topics, but that is not possible so far on Spark People. So the topics could be removed but not deleted. Some sites I have been leader at in the past, had this great option.

Haven't seen any activity on this site for awhile, everyone must be enjoying the summer weather! I have been enjoying reading on my porch. I finally completed a T-Shirt slopper, so now I'm ready to make the real shirt. Also doing some knitting.

I've been putting 10 min. at a time into organizing some sewing supplies, I have alot of family pics. around the room, have to update some, and move stuff, so my shelves are better used.
I finished the two cushions yesterday, now I'm working on the headrest pillows. I'm back into the sewing groove! I just got the book, "Easy Sewing - The Kwik Sew Way by Kerstin Martensson. I'm determined to sew some tops that fit me right.

Sandy..where in Idaho will you be? My grandparents are hosting at a campground here in the mountains (I am from Nampa, Idaho). After my boyfriend met my Grandpa and Step Grandma we both thought we could live in a rv and do that once retired. Grandparents also own a "park model" home...me and boyfriend would drop our big house and belongings to be in one of those as long as it had an extra bedroom if we ever had a kid or two. Boyfriend loves the outdoors, me I would need an RV to hide away in and be able to sew and craft or I would go bonkers..not into dirt and bugs. LOL

HONEYSEWS ~ Well that surely is a tremendous help. I miss having a nice handy man around but the last one was a user. At this stage in life don't really want to live with another man but it would be nice to have a male companion. I am sure at this age many a good men would feel the same way in having a female companion without be burdened into sharing the same home. As it does effect financial circumstances.

Just got flower containers planted this year. My decks are not sunny enough to grow herbs or veggies. I gave up my community garden plot because of Osteoporosis, too painful on my back and joints. Well, this way I will visit local floral gardens and other community gardens, in the city. Which didn't have time to do before. My produce this season will be coming from the local farmer's market.

Is anyone working on any crafts this summer? I'm still hand sewing the quilt, I am gathering supplies to make two cushions for our front porch rocking chairs. I plan on putting pipping on the. I have been wanting to try pipping for awhile now, and feel this is the perfect first project. The flowers are all planted and enjoying this beautiful weather. I put two strawberry plants in a hanging basket, it will be fun seeing out they grow. I'm going to plant garlic this fall, they say its very easy to grow. Anyone else have some veggies growing?

You are right. The sewing machine is safely in a bin for the time being. Gardening is a passion of mine . Living in a Rv and staying at various campgrounds kind of limits what I can do. However we will be in Idaho for the summer and the owner of the campground doesn't mind my planiting flowers around trees!

I feel like changing the picture on the front page. Just I don't know what, I thought of sticking a serger or fancy computer or eltronic sew machine or comical sewing related gif. Or a bunch of sewing patterns layed out in a fan shape. What do you gals think? Leave as is or try something new?

I don't know about everyone else, but I seems to be I am in a garden mode. My computer is in my sewing room but the serger and sew machine are neatly tucked away in their cabinets. Making room for summer quests, tidying up the decks. Get quite a guests through the summer. Near the end of summer, the cooler evenings, warm days and sewing projects are in my mind more clearly then.

You are absolutely right! When I decided to start losing middle age weight - I too reached my goal. Then climbed up some. Now I know where I feel comfortable at, and am aiming for that goal. As for the double chin, I too was amazed when it disappeared.

To All Stuck On the Scale Numbers ....................

How do you measure or weigh a double chin? I know one would think, what?

One day I actually stood in front of a mirror and examined my face, the reflection was something quite different looking. Oh, my gosh! I thought. My double chin has disappeared! Little things change while loosing weight, that seem to go undetected, till it's staring you in the face! I just thought my double chin was there to stay forever!

When I first started SP several years ago I was 225 lbs. My goal back then was 120 lbs. I reached that goal. With careless over indulging, the scale zoomed back up to 160 in 2010. Today I am 130 lbs. I have decided to try to maintain 130 lbs. I know now, what my weakest points are with foods and beverages.

It's funny but every female I talk to seems to say they have gained and can't lose the weight.
I think we packed on extra lbs. with the long hard winter. And then all that rain that kept coming, we are just anxious to lose it!
I took my mini trampoline out of the basement, also trying to ride a bike, after many years, and picked up a book from the library called, "Your body's many cries for Water. by F. Batmanghelidj, MD. I'm sure something will start to work soon. Enjoy the day.

i know how she feels because i cannot seem to lose the weight either and the meshing tape is not helping me. i just want to lose my weight and then the inches will drop off as well. but it doesn't seem to be working yet. i guess in time it will but then again i'm not so sure about that either.

Thanks for the encouragement. I feel like I have slimmed a little, but the tape measure and the scale don't agree!

i made a pattern up and it was to small for me so i gave it to my neighbor because she is allot smaller than me. i just decided to make it up one day out of some scratch piece of material that i had laying around the house.
