Babysitting today. One is napping and one is watching PBS. Have a little time to get on here. Hoping to finally get back to sewing this week, but not sure yet. DIL is doing a home party tonight. SIL birthday is tomorrow. Invited to have birthday breakfast with him. Hubby is on 2nd shift, so this will work out for us.

Still a little dizzy off and on from the neck injury. Doing some natural things, which worked well yesterday.

Have a great day Team! emoticon

I have finished the one family crest rug and also 4 coasters in hooking and have started the 2nd family crest rug. It has been so cold and my body is wanting to hibernate..but still walking some..got to dig out my videos to start doing them instead when my joints balk on going outside in the cold.

We changed our plans for Thanksgiving..going to my hubby's youngest sisters and his 2 older sisters are coming too..first time his family has been together like this in years..we were together at a funeral a couple years ago but that wasn't like just getting with family at a happy time. The 2 older ones are up in the 70's so need to see them as much as possible before they all die.

Back to hooking.

This is a busy time for me right now. Today I worked at the gallery so just now getting here to track. (5pm) and yesterday was first day hubby and I took time to just go ride around and view the colors of autumn. I know they will be gone by next week when we get rain this weekend..So we took a 4 hour drive up into the Ouachita national forest and Ouachita mountains...I blogged about it here on SP if you want to see the photos..Going now to finish tracking and then go hook on my rug some.

Art Guild board meeting was very productive..we are going to try to get a sign painted on the building itself above the awning..we are planning an impromtoo open house sometime in December when the town has their Christmas parade..offer coffee, tea or hot cocoa..I signed up for a card making workshop on Nov. 10th..we will make 3 cards using alcohol inks and make poinsettias...so looking forward to that..I got home and got a Christmas moose rug ready to start hooking. I just finished the hand stitching on the felt kit and will get photo to put up later. Working on some computer things and then will get out and walk.

Raining again today, but we are fine. Never lost power! Thank the Lord!

Off to Good News Club today to do some special music ministry. Then I must come back and materials ready to coop class I am teaching Friday. And need to sew some gift bags for next weekend. Hope I can get it all in. emoticon

Not much going on here..resting from my wild weekend that I'm not used to doing. Slept 9 hours last night but must have slept wrong as I have a crick in my neck this morning. Tried to do exercises to losen in but hasn't helped. Hubby is off at son's working on some building projects..I'm just mainly stitching sequins on the matching felt kit...

I plan to keep praying..

Out shopping and knee injections this AM. DD birthday today. She will be driving, at least on the way home, after I get the shots.
Rain arrived yesterday evening. Wind is to arrive later today. Only 10 mph now. Gusts expected up to 60 mph tomorrow. Hoping electric stays on because of keeping the freezer and water pump going.

Have a great day, All!

Barbara, glad the day went so well.

Had 2 birthday celebrations yesterday. Was told I looked tired by someone at church today.
Just had some supper and am wondering if the storm will hit us as hard as they say it may.

Looking for power outages and flooding in our area.

If the power goes out, I will not be able to use my machine for sewing, but will be able to do cutting. Somehow, don't know how, misplaced my best cutting scissors. Hope I find them soon. Need to get materials ready to teach home school coop on Friday. Looking forward to being with the kids. My DGD (twins) will be in one of my classes.

Have a good night, All!

Family in last night for supper. Turkey dinner with the fixings for my daughter's birthday. Grandson was making everyone laugh when he told his uncle he could take him when they were wrestling. Picture this: One small five-year-old, skin and bones, against a 6 foot 3, 275 pound uncle. At one point he took his shirt off for emphasis of getting serious about "taking" his uncle. Finally, his mother sat him down and said, "Face it , Brad, he is a lot bigger than you and you are not going to take him." Brad was not happy, but everyone else was making the rafters ring with laughter. emoticon

We had gluten free brownies for dessert and some full fat Turkey Hill ice cream. Oh, boy, that was something. Now DD husband wants to have a supper for her tonight with his Mom and Dad and us. Oh, no, here we go again!

Have a great day, All!

I was a public school teacher for over 25years and loved having parents and grandparents coming to help out..one school I taught in had grandmothers who volunteered weekly in the classrooms...They were such a big help and the kids just loved them We need more of that..Schools are so different now from when I taught..and seems the kids don't have time anymore to just be kids..

I have decided I have to make 5 rugs before Christmas now.So going to be busy for me..Going for a walk now.

Grands are important. I am planning to go to GS kindergarten tomorrow to read to his class. It is his turn to be student of the week and family is invited to come and celebrate with him. His older sister is going today to read to the class and Mom is going on Friday.

I am not sure what I am going to do with the canvas yet. It was given to me for partial payment for a project a lady wants me to do for her. It is a natural tan color.

Keep sewing and sparking!

what are you going to do with the canvas? I have some black and some white and had thought to make stretcher bars and stretch it to paint on...

Have a busy week planned. Had art guild meeting yesterday and now have to call and confirm a guest coming to other guild meeting to do a demo on Nov. 13..just found out last night that they had changed the day and place to meet for that guild so have to call and confirm it..other guild is getting ready for gallery walk..meeting on Thursday to get rooms ready and then Friday and Saturday morning will spend baking for the bake sale. The gallery walk is Sunday afternoon from 1-4 and I was supposed to be there at 12:30. I live the furtherest away (14 miles) and last night my middle DGD called and she is being baptized on that Sunday morning in other town 7 miles the other direction so don't want to miss that in her lifetime so we will be going there first and then driving back 25miles to get to gallery walk. They will just have to understand..baptism doesn't occur for the grands just every day...

Off to work on some rugs and to walk.

Good morning, Team!

Washed up some canvas last week to see if I could use it for a project. Hate ironing, though.

Hoping to sew this week, cause didn't get to any last week.

Chilly, frosty here today!

Hope everyone has a great day!

I finished cutting all the "woolie worms" from the black and red wool jackets that were given to me and have all the wool in big bins. Going to draw up a few rugs today too.

My sister made it through back surgery ok on Thursday. I finally got to talk to her yesterday evening but she didn't make too much sense and was in a lot of pain..so will try to talk to her again today.

Hubby has been deer hunting...for our winter meat lauder..Cloudy and turned warm and humid again and my body is reacting with aches as usual when there is a weather change..But got one walk in and going for another. Hope to get some arm exercises in as well.

Barbara I'm laughing as we live in the "sticks"...have since 1986..in a naitonal forest area..we have snakes, mice, squirrels, flying squirrels, fox and hubby told me that neighbor has sited bears lately too..We constantly fight the deer mice and pack rats but not in the house thankfully but have had a chicken snake to come in once..but we have had flying squirrels come in and also birds in our doggy door..The worst was when a swarm of honey bees decided they wanted to get into our outside walls...noticed it when we started having bees in the house...then really noticed them on the front porch...I wanted to get a beekeeper come out nad get them but hubby wouldn't have it...he is allergic so our house got a good spraying and thankfully they left and it didnt' kill them all..But really haven't had that much problem with the moths with all the lavender I have been putting out..

Busy day today..major shopping trip of the month to the big town..but was home by noon and didn't spend as much as usual..met the youngest son and wife at Cracker Barrel for Breakfast..bought the DGD Miss Molly a cute scotty dog red cape and her mom got her the matching outfit..

My sister has back surgery tomorrow..they moved it up a week..She has had the back injections that have been causing menningitis so have worried about that for her..she seems so unconcerned about it all..but then I guess that is best..I won't go to where she is having surgery as it is being done in back treatment center in Little Rock..and such a drive for us to go..so will wait and go to her house when she gets home and stay awhile and help out while there..think that is much better anyway..

Off to cut more wool and work on some wool applique coasters for a Christmas swap I'm in. Have a good Wednesday.

I had a moth invasion one time and looked it up on the internet. There were pros and cons for so many treatments that were natural, it was confusing. I know that lots of folks in the past swore by lavender. I am using cedar and cedar oil-- after washing and cleaning. I think they came in on some marked down fabric I bought. Not sure, though. We live near a wooded area and have been invaded by insects and bugs throughout our staying here, as well as mice and even a snake showed up in my kitchen one time! I love living in the country, but do not care for the wild critters.

Happy Sewing, Barbara!

My husband remodeled my sewingroom/studio a couple of years ago with shelves on 3 walls..And they are packed. I have gradually started culling out my quilt cottons. I don't sew clothes anymore but do an occasional quilt. but yes my shelves are over flowing with wool. I finished cutting up the old jackets and have the wool cut in wide strips and today I'm cutting with my wool cutter into "woolier worms" for hooking. Most I'm cutting today is black so they will all go into my blacks I keep in a large bin on the floor under the shelves. I'm going to have to rearrange the other bin which I had browns and put reds in it instead as I will have a bunch of it..I've used down the browns so can put them in a medium size bin now that I had my reds in...as for moths and bugs...yes there is a worry but I buy lavender in bulk by the pound and keep sachets in all my bins and shelves and then hubby will spray my room about twice a year for bugs..So far I haven't had problems. I also wash and dry my wool on high heat when it first comes into my house to kill what eggs might be hiding..

Today is cloudy and cooler and the old arthritis is sure acting up..going for a walk before cotininuing working with that wool. Have a good day.

Congrats of the loss you have gotten so far!

It is raining again here. I am not sure if we need it or not. We really need some freezing nights to help get rid of the ticks.

My goodness, where do you store all that wool? Ever any problems with moths?

I have some more sewing to do. Thinking about opening a shop on Etsy with daughter. Maybe we will.

Good day to All!

wow didn't realize I hadn't posted here in some time..I've been so busy..But did finish my hooked Halloween rug...picture is on my blog today..This gallery walk for the one art guild has kept me hopping..Had hubby go with me yesterday to paint a hallway floor. We have wood flooring panels that could be put down in there but noone has time to do it so the ugly floor got covered in nice deep dark brown red floor paint...looks so much better..Today I have been trying to tackle 4 large bags of wool clothing to recycle for my rug hooking..A hooking friend of mine decided to downsize and thought maybe one back and wound up being 4 HUGE garbage bags full...most are jackets and they are hard to take apart and some that have bad interfacing have a lot of waste but do get quite a bit still with this many things to take apart..

We have a pork roast on our outside grill oven..it is a brick oven and it smokes the meat up nicely. We have been cooking it real slow on cherry wood..We only eat 2 meals a day..so called meals...breakfast and a late lunch around 2 or 3pm...then later in the evening when or if we get hungry we will eat fruit or cereal..This is the way I ate growing up and was super skinny back then...and it has made a difference now...

I also joined the 5% challenge team again for fall and think it hleps me so much...for this first week, I lost 1lb..so if I can keep this up the same each week I will be down my 5% after the 8 weeks..I'd like to lose 10 but want this to be slow and steady..I'm already down 1 pant size and these are loose too..

Well out to walk.

Did small craft show at church yesterday. Not a good turnout. Disappointing. I ded sell a bag holder, a bed pocket and a kitchen angel. Hubby and I had lunch there. I fell before I left and gashed my forehead open above my right eye. Hubby thot I should see if I needed stitches, but I said "No," I needed to get to the church. Was dizzy and head hurt for awhile, but much better today. There were two nurses at the show, huddling over me, making sure I was OK.

Thinking about doing another show at another church a few miles away in November. Maybe I shall.

Barbara (Von) what have you been doing?

Could not get on Spark this AM. Got the message that Spark was not responding.

Now I am on, but everything is moving terribly s-l-o-w.

Anyone else having a problem?

Good morning, All!

I uploaded a picture of that T shirt quilt I made and a picture of the collage. The quilt was designed by the mother. I just put the thing together. Took about 22 hours in all. I have some more to get started and work on, but need to get ready for the church craft sale first.

Have a great day!

wow it has been a few days since I posted here..I finished the stocking days ago and have 2 rugs started and a felt table runner..so keeping busy..walking daily..not enough and not doing the arm exercises I need to be doing. Missed one guild meeting this week..totally forgot about it as I was busy hooking a rug..then sister backed out of meeting or postponed until next week..we will see what heppens then..and tomorrow I have an art guild board meeting I would conveniently like to forget as well but missed last one and they may kick me off the board if I don't show up..hey that is a good idea..no really I kind of enjoy it but put out right now as they hash and rehash same ofd thing all the time and never accomplish anything..I'm a doer so another couple of ladies and I painted a gallery walk sign and I got a local sign painter to do a semi-permanant sign for the front..we also planned a gallery walk for the end of October..they change out artwork about the middle of the October so will be perfect time for it and since they are wanting fund raiser we plan to have a cake walk and bake sale. I'm excited as at least some of us are trying to do something..others may nix all these ideas tomorrow..seems if it isn't their idea then they dont' want to have anything to do with it..so my days may be numbered up there.

Well off to go stitch

Thanks for the information, the tablet is still sitting in a drawer. One of these days, I'll do it ... get it running!

My desktop computer is 7 yrs old now. Really running slower. So I dumped all my pictures on a " iomega" transfer thing ama jig. I got 3800 pictures are that iomega! How that little machine holds them all, is beyond my understanding! So when I have to give up my desktop, I will still have all my pictures but deleting them helped speed up my computer.
Recently, I got a hp laptop, free, when I switched to a different internet provider.

30 years of saved family pictures. Many were fading but got them all back to original state by using Microsoft Digital Pro program. The program is obsolete now. Haven't found a comparable program on the market yet.

Even got a picture restored on that program of my mom when she was crowned May Day Queen, in the early 1930's, it was bent in half , ragged on the edges and yellowed.

My daughter wrote a fiction book and had it published. She used to sell her hand made jewellery at the local Farmer & Crafters Market. She contact the person in charge and asked if she could sell her books there. She got the okay to do so.

She has to get in the line up by 6am to get in for the day, she is taking my granddaughter, so I don't have to get over to her place by 5:30am. Tomorrow, I will be heading to the Farmer & Crafter market around 8am to take care of my granddaughter, as it opens to the public at 8am. It's Going to be a looong day!

My daughter has sold over half her books already. She is working a sequel to the first book, with a list of names who want to buy the second book! Pretty amazing feat, for a child whom had dyslexia, where the school system in many area's was not helpful.

Sometimes if you have to put in a password it might work. I have my wirelss set up with no password. Where we live (the sticks) we can only get Verizon for cell service so we kept our land line for the dsl internet which is much cheaper. My kids who live in bigger town near us have ATT and they cannot use their phones but my DIL's phone is an Iphone so she can hook to my wifi and then to the internet from her phone. Same with my sister. Also you only need the wifi to download the books...once they are downloaded to the tablet they you should be able to read your books that you have downloaded from anywhere..

I got an Acer tablet and got it before the1st Kindle fire came out and was same price as the Kindle at that time and much cheaper than the I pad..and it has a place for a "stick" flash drive which at that time the Ipad didn't hve..But I went to Amazon and downloaded the kindle app to my tablet and just love it..My DIL is getting the newest kindle fire soon as Best Buy gets them in the store.. They are much nicer and same as what I paid..But just fiddle around with it and sure you will get it to connect..You may have to go in to the "settings" and turn on the bluetooth..You won't hurt the tablet..and know if I can do it anyone can..O and if you can get it working then you can download all kinds of exercise apps. I have a bunch of yoga and arm exercise apps in mine. I just love my tablet..just wish I had cell phone hookup on it to take anywhere. My DIL is getting a mobile wifi so she can take her laptop and hook up anywhere. That would be nice to have in traveling. But next to major travels we do will be with her so I will just use hers.

Almost finshed with the last stocking. I'm sewing the back onto the stocking and then the pompoms and ribbons and hanging strips and will be done. yea!!!Not going to the gallery to paint today. Had a hard night with front trying to come through the state and it makes me so achy. I took a tramadol about 4a.m. and it makes my mind mush the next day. Going to go walk now.

I have a Koby Tablet it is suppose to hook up to bluetooth and hook to wifi? My old pea brain is not working too well, lately. I'll have to drag it out and play with the connections. I have a wifi console from my TV's cable distributor, that is what I am trying to work it off of. Also have another wifi console box, for games, maybe I should plug that in and see if that would work?

you can also post photos to our team page site..

@Ann..what kind of tablet do you have? does it do bluetooth and hook to wifi? I got a wireless connector to my DSL at home and since it has wifi connections in the tablet then I can connect anywhere there is wifi..I have the kindle app on the tablet and the nook app but rarely use nook..but I have found a place that offeres all the freebooks daily that kindle sends out so will check them for the freebooks...they list them with their genre so know what I'm getting before downloading. I do them throught my desktop computer and then when I turn on my tablet in the evening, it hooks to my wifi wireless and downloads to my kndle app..and once they are in there, they are there until I delete them out..so I can read the saved books when I don't have wifi..So nice to carry my library around with me an dnot tote a bunch of books..Just got through reading a book called Journey to the Well about the Woman at the Well that Jesus met..Samaritan woman..I love stories like these..I also love historical fiction set in Ireland, Scotland and during the civil war..

I'm about finished with the 4th and last felt stocking for the youngest son's family..Will be starting a new rug soon. I have dyed my wool and have the design on the backing and just need to stitch around it and cut the wool into woolie worms before hooking..

These would be great, adapted of course, to fit a folding chair/sewing chair. I think I'm going to whip up two with enough fabric between, to fit on a folding chair, under a cushion, to hold my mother's scrapbooking supplies the next time she comes up. I set up a make-shift center for her on a 4 by 2 table, but she never seems to have enough room for her work and her supplies. This way she can tuck her supplies in the chair pocket and still have room on the table to work. Thanks for the awesome idea.

Good Day, All!

I have some preformed pockets I think I can make into bed pockets. They are canvas-type material and not very attractive so I need to redo. I washed a couple up, though, and they wash up really nice.

Going through some fabric today and just sorting and repacked. It is so hard to get rid of any when I can visualize something to be made of it! The good Lord knows I have more than I will ever need, but I don't know what I will need. LOL Now that is a good excuse to keep it all! Getting some of my winter clothes out today. BRR! Not looking forward to the cold, but must prepare.

Keep Stitchin' and Keep Sparkin'!

Ann I used to do cross words every night but got a tablet so now read kindle books every evening..but the pocket would be nice to store the tablet in.

I finished the 3rd stocking and started my 4th stocking kit..wanting to get back to hooking again since the weather has cooled. Also finished the hemming on the Gallery Walk sign for the Art Gallery I'm a part of..Gallery Walk is planned for last Sunday in October. Meeting Thursday to finsih up on the sign.

I am going to make one of those bedside pockets today! I love to do crossword puzzles, in bed listening to the TV. A bed side pocket will be hand and tidy up my side lamp table for sure!
