Barb, I've got a project I've been wanting to tackle - embroidering a flag. That's still sewing.

I'm in the market for a new machine. My current machine is a Viking Designer I. Had it I think since 1994. I'm not trading it in but would like to update. I bought my Viking Designer I before the company sold out to some Chinese company. After they started manufacturing the machines the quality went down drastically. Don't know which way to go now. I welcome everyone's input!

Sending some of my dolls with SIL to a craft setup she is doing. My brother has been doing some power saw wood crafting and they have invited the wives to bring some of their crafts to sell at the demo. So, I asked her to take three of my dolls with here. Hoping they sell. Planning a camping trip with DD and family the middle of May. Their trip is next week.

When DH and I went out to breakfast it was at the local hospital cafeteria. They have morning breakfasts on Thursdays. We ate for under $7 total. We each had a pancake, egg, bacon and DH had a cup of coffee and I had some juice. Very nice for breakfast.

Happy crafting and sewing! emoticon

Easter sewing project will be stitching up some loose ends on looming projects my wife has done, and alterations for some watch-caps I have. That's because I do not want to wait until next autumn to prepare for winter use. Its already too late to be prepared this winter. hahaha

At the moment I'm sewing bowl covers for glass kitchen bowls etc... I'm trying to do away with plastic as much as is humanly possible for the environment and because it's no good for our health.

I'm making covers for all my glass bowls / glass containers so I don't have to use the plastic lids that come with them. Most of them are Pyrex.

I'm using calico and elastic.

Winter, Spring, Summer and now it's Fall....... have only sewed a few repairs. My fabric stash is finally dwindling, as my daughter often comes over and takes what I don't want. FabricIand closed about ten years ago and opened a larger store on the other side of bridge. I hate travelling across the bridge, just to browse thru the only fabric store in the area. Seems the quality in fabrics has diminished considerably.

What are you crafting in the month of April? I have a few things to do for family. The twins birthday is this month and I now have my sewing machine back and can make something for them.

Still have not found my misplaced seeds to start. Almost too late now! Oh, bother.

at the moment I don't have any plans to craft something for Easter. The question got me thinking though, I don't usually make crafts for holidays, but for people. However, when my children were younger we did make crafts for holidays.

Sounds similar to my place. Never thought I would become a hoarder but I think I am . . . . . when it comes to fabric! I have 6 very large containers in my spare room closet. It is a double closet and the containers just fit in width then stacked, no room to hang anything.

I also have a storage room located where the storage area is in my condo and that is stacked to the ceiling. I have been slowly taking stuff to second hand stores, early in the fall. Will tackle the storage room again after Christmas.

I have what I call a 'craft' room, but most of my crafting takes place in the dining room. More room to spread out. So what's in my craft room? My crafting sewing machine -- that I move to the dining room to use -- and boxes and shelves of fabric and a wee bit of household storage. It was originally suppose to be a dining room off the kitchen, but that has never been! Also, have about half of my office with boxes of crafting supplies. Way to much for a grandma!!! Well, maybe. . . emoticon

I do have a craft room which is a total mess.
So I brought my sewing machine upstairs, out of the basement, and have it set up in my reading room. It's easier to get to and I don't feel so isolated.

I like making crafts for Christmas. I always try to make a new ornament for everyone. It helps the kids add to their trees. And with all the supplies I have laying around it's usually pretty easy to come up with something to make.

Update on nephew: He has talked this month for the first time in two months. Last week (or maybe a little before that) they had him up with a walker. His wife has been able to return to work. She was off all this time. They call him a miracle. He will start therapy soon, I am sure. From someone who went from a couple of weeks to live to this, is a gift from God. Even the young surgeon called this a miracle. We are thrilled he is still with us. Thank you for asking!

Barb ~ Has your nephew improved since December? Is he off life support? Did he survive?

In 1985 I went into a coma (cause was never determined) I was on life support by the way of a heart and lung machine for 1 1/2 months. Our parents died when we where young, mom passed way when I was 13 years old and dad passed away when I was 20 years old. My sis is the only next of kin I have.

My sister was called by my doctor whom stated not much chance of survival, doubt if she will make it, till the morning.

Well I surprised all, as I was taken off the life support machine. I did suffer from amnesia and had to learn how to write all over again (first it was printing as I recall, as I could not remember how to write). Six months later I took my grade 12 over again at night school, to prove to myself that I still had some brains working! I graduated from high school in 1965. When I wrote the night school exams, I past with the highest marks in my class. That really surprised me because I was the oldest in the class. So I have two certificates of grade 12 but the later one has the highest scores!

Weather is cold and calm here today. Suppose the have a mix of stuff and then snow this weekend. Our church party is Saturday night and we are having a special speaker on Sunday morning. Hope the plans don't go awry.

Nephew is still on heart and lung machine. He was suppose to have his chest stitched up today. It has been open since Nov 22 in case the surgeons had to go back in for anything. I know they did at least once. Still on critical list.

Almost done with Christmas shopping. Got to do a lot of wrapping, though. Christmas sewing is not complete. Waiting for some fabric I ordered to come in to finish up for DS and DIL. Tree is not up. Decorating not done. Still sorting fabric and cleaning as I go. Kids and grandkids will be here Christmas night. At least that is the plan. Our little house is pretty full when all of us (11) get together plus the gifts we exchange.

Hope you all have a great night! emoticon

December - Are you having a lots of family over for Christmas Dinner?

So many things to do, too little time. I ordered some gifts from the shopping channel. Got an email this morning stating, that my order was not shipped, as password to my account is wrong. Just great! emoticon Bought a new computer and I suppose that has something to do with my new broken password.

I have to go downtown today to sign papers with management company for my building as I was voted in as treasurer for 2014. I absolutely hate driving downtown. The sun is trying to break through the snow clouds. I hope the weather holds off with the snow, till I get back home, from downtown.

Ellen, thanks for the update on what is going on. DH just had a good cholesterol checkup. We found out that upping his fish oil brought down his triglcerides and brought up his HDL. Red yeast rice took the LDL down (must be taken with CoQ10) and the Dr is pleased. Does not have another checkup until May. WooHoo!

Was given a Sheltie dog named April (pics on my blog page) who likes to play ball. What a cutie! Have a nephew in a Baltimore hospital waiting for a double lung transplant. Have a SIL in cancer remission. Dug a tick off my hip last Friday. I think I got it from walking April in the yard. November is filled with celebrations and lots of temptations to overeat my cals.

'Tis the crafting season and rarely can see the dining room table any more. Still working on T shirt quilts. What a job!

Keep Sewing! Keep Sparking! Enjoy your day!

Oh, and if I have time, I would like to help DGS make Christmas gifts for his parents. He's 6 and enjoys giving gifts.

I'm on a mission to reduce my cholesterol without statins. After two months of a low fat vegetarian diet, my cholesterol hasn't budged and my triglycerides quadrupled. DH, who has been almost vegetarian, reduced his to 144!!! I'm so annoyed!!!

So, I need a new plan and I'm going to try eliminating wheat and dairy to see if that makes a difference. Our company health insurer is offering a class in two weeks and I requested info on reducing cholesterol. I think there is a high cholesterol team too. I'll have to see if they are active.

Also, my sister is in ICU after cancer surgery. She's doing well, but the 60 mile drive is wearing us out. No one else in the family has been to visit, but I requested help and will be getting a break this weekend.

What have you been up to Barb?

That sounds like fun! I'll be heading to the chiropractor after work and getting home late. I made a huge pot of minestrone yesterday to get us through the late nights this week.

DH only likes dark meat, so I've never cooked anything but a whole one. Then I struggle to get rid of the leftovers. The dog is happy to help though. If I have to cook this year, I may give him a treat and fry some chicken. He'd rather have that than anything else.

If we go to DD's, tons of friends show up and we pack their tiny house. They heat the garage so the guys can hang out in the man cave. Everyone brings dishes to share, so that helps.

I can't believe we're already talking about Thanksgiving. I haven't figured out Halloween yet! LOL!

Since there is only 3 adults and 1 child for our Thanksgiving dinner, this year, my daughter plans to cook a turkey roast in box variety. She has cooked the boxed turkey roasts before, turned out great. She usually buys the one with the stuffing and all white meat. It is just enough for us and enough left-overs for their sandwiches for their work lunches for a few days. They do not have a large freezer capacity with there small fridge.

My neighbor just called and offered to take me out for lunch tomorrow. To say thank-you for my house sitting her place for a couple weeks, this past summer. We are walking to the casino to have lunch and then play some bingo. Then walking home. It 's about a mile walk, to the closest casino. The other one is in the downtown area which is about a 4 mile hike one way..

Hi Ann, that sounds like a great plan. We've fried a few, but the last time the thermometer failed and the oil created a huge fire that burned for hours. No damage to anything but DH's pride.

This may be my first Thanksgiving vegetarian if I stick with it that long. I don't miss meat, but my next cholesterol test will be the deciding factor. Not sure if DD will be at her inlaws. Will have to check when they get back from Disney World. DGS got his first airplane ride and was thrilled.

WE haven't made any plans yet. All 3 sons work on off shore drilling ships and we have to plan around one or more of them.
