It's been pretty fun for us. This trip has pretty distinct destination but when we get to the condo this evening we will have 5-6 days to do whatever sightseeing we want then it's back home.

I would love to just wander around the country in the car, stopping when I see something interesting----maybe one of these days I will get to do that.

We used to do the trip only stopping for gas but we're too old to do that and driving at night isn't all that easy for us as we get older. The middle of the night was always my turn-ugh. We off to church again this morning with our friends. Right now it's just time to seek out some coffee.

Coming to you from Clarksville Tennessee. It is chilly and gray outside so everyone slept late. I did use the scales in the bathroom and I really like it because it said I was down 3 pounds. Hope mine says the same when we get home.

They had the new water person come to train ours---and most of the stuff is things we already do and the other stuff just won't work unless there are only 2 of us---need room to use noodles for arms in the deep end and it is a therapy pool so not that much room. But the thing is, this "new" person has taken a class that had 10 to 15 people attending that is now maybe 2 or 3 people coming as they don't like her---they are all older ladies with arthristis issues and she wants them to do more in shallow end that hurts their joints and is much too fast paced for them. Plus with them raising prices so much, they will find others leaving them, too. Duh, guess the owner/manager doesn't get the picture. I am tempted to write a letter about the increase and charging me more when I only come 2x a week ----I understand raise in price but there should be a diffential in the cost of a 2 or 3 time a week class.

Someone from my class made a point to announce that her husband noticed that her arms had become much stronger since joining my class. (She noticed it, too.)

She was able to paint her ceilings easily without becoming fatigued.

It is so exciting to me when someone can feel the difference water exercise makes in his or her life. I encourage everyone to work their arms hard if they are able, and while I can tell that it is not everyone's favorite, moments like this make it worth me encouraging them a little extra!

WEll, our rates are going up in November---I went ahead and paid for next 3 months at old rate---and they are not getting more from me because they are raising rates after I paid---LOL---I do not like having to pay more or the same as people who have 3x a week class----just not fair---and I cannot fit going in another time on my own when they are open---and I don't want to use their machines in the patient area either--now, if the extra would include one of the techs working on my IT band, it would be worth the extra money. Not sure if dh and I will be able to continue with this---and it is the best thing for both of us---but that would be 120 a month for the 2 of us-----just not in the budget.

Hi Wendy, I agree with Kerry. Just barely grip them (only enough to have good control), thumb and fingers together. Are you using them more for resistance or for buoyancy? Are you in deep or shallow water?

You are gripping the weights too tightly. You don't need to squeeze them like land weights. We had one instructor who even told us to put our thumbs over the top with the fingers. I aalso tend to grip them too tightly but now when they hurt I remember to loosen up.

I have a question, I use the hand weights in the pool they are equivalent to 5-10 pound weights. After several months of using them, my hands are starting to hurt. Anyone else have that issue? Mostly wrist and back of hand pain. someone said Carpal tunnel but I dont know.

Thanks, LECATES, I'm excited to see how these long fins will work for me. One of my swim buddies had me try on her fins a few years ago. I had never used fins before but we both have similar short, wide feet. Hers fit me comfortably, so I bought the exact same ones without knowing what they were best suited for. The coach says those shorter ones are best for rapid, high intensity training, but the longer ones will be better for all around swimming and might be better for my bad ankles.

My dh used to ---this darn knee has ruined a lot of things.
Felt bad last night so stayed home from the pool---you know I feel bad when I don't go there. Wondering if my body is just tired of all the meds. Might try not taking some of them this weekend and see how I do---none are prescription---will keep taking allergy meds though.
Going to a farm today with horticulture class. Looking forward to that---and wearing jeans to school---LOL

The good thing about all the bathroom trips is all the steps you get in. I have been to most of the state's as my family always did summer vacations. A lot involved fishing for my parents but we did a lot of sightseeing to national parks and other places to visit family. Larry has always loved driving so we on the road a lot now that he's retired.

I would so love to be on the trip with you---having never been to the Mississippi River or places beyond, it would be a real adventure for me.
I did go to the clinic after a really bad coughing spell at lunch that just knocked me out for the rest of the afternoon---thankfully did not have to do much but sit. No infection and just continue what I am doing---make sure to drink lots of fluid---and she did give me a prescription for more of the cough pills. The problem with drinking more fluids is going to the bathroom so much.
Looking forward to the pool tonight as at least I can exercise in there and not set off bad coughing fits.

The doctor sounds like a good idea. Don't let it get any worse.
The one vent on my side is on the dash with a cup holder right in front of I keep it opened just enough to keep my drink cool. The other one I either close or point up and left. I am using my sweater as a lap cover right now. It's good so long as I don't shut the sleeve in the door.

My dh can do the same thing to me---I keep a blanket in my car and often grab it to go in his truck in the summer time---or I shut off the vents on my side if I forget it---that helps, too. And now that he won't drive my car---he hasn't tried to get behind the wheel in it----I control the temps in there----heehee.
Coughing got so much worse when I tried to do chores last night---have a feeling I will go back to the doctor this week.

I guess it's more like 3 weeks but I think Tennessee is going to be fairly cool. After riding in the car this evening I think I may wear jeans in the car because he was freezing me out!!! I am thinking at least another pair of jeans. Wish I still had some sweatpants for travelling or sitting around. I've definitely gotten kind of wimpy when it comes to cool temperatures. lol

I'm figure one pair of jeans and at least one capri along with shorts. I never travel without at least one sweater because my husband like everything to be really cold. I use a sweater in the car and the motel/hotel rooms. I probably won't need one at dad's house but who knows. Today was just church and I need to head back there soon to get the money counted then home to pack. The laundry should be about done.

If they are like us this time of year, you will need both capri and long. Take some things for layering, too-----it should be very cool by the time you are leaving since you are staying a month.
Didn't do much yesterday---felt kind of crappy but I think I needed to just rest---hopefully today I will have more energy. Lunch at church today for our anniversary.

Thank you. I guess there are some things people notice and some they don't. Sometimes it takes them a few time of looking to realize what's different. I need to start figuring out what to pack which means I need to check some weather forecasts but I'm sure I will need at least one pair of long pants or jeans at this time of year. Being in Florida for so many years even 70 can feel cold sometimes. We took the grandkids over to help with some yard work at the home of another church member who's master gardener husband died recently. We should be getting a call before long about picking them up unless the youth director brings them home.

We have a rehab center here with a small pool that used to sell memberships for water aerobics and the machines if they were available. A friend of mine talked them into that and she's died so I don't know if it's still available. I think it was just $25 a month so not too bad at the time.

I did water aerobics and that will be my last class until we get back from this trip of ours so I won't be any help toward the team goals unless we have a room somewhere with an indoor pool. I'm sure nobody will have the outdoor pools open at this time of year.

I'm sure someone has noticed the new glasses by now!

LOL, all 3 cats I have are from my sons---so I understand---actually, I think Michael would love to have his but he is gone so much for work that he realizes that it would not be fair to them as they are used to a lot of attention.
Since where I do water aerobics is not really a gym, I feel the price would be too much--it is a physical therapy place and not that much space or equipment. The warm pool is the attraction to me.
Got my new glasses yesterday---but dh has not even noticed---wonder if anyone will notice at school today?

All we really have is shallow unless you're even shorter than me. lol I like the monthly fee for the entire gym as opposed to the per class thing, especially if an instructor is changing things up so people are unhappy. We had a great class this morning and I followed that up with some treadmill and Silver Sneakers. Not sure what I'm going to do for the next four weeks. Our youngest daughter who claims the cat as hers is going to take care of it. She tried taking her to the boyfriends house but it didn't work well with his dog so we're stuck with it. I don't mind except for all our travelling.

Our girl at the pool told us last night they are talking of raising the rate---she is not sure if they will offer a multiple month discount like they do now---but they want to charge the same for a 3 day class as for a 2 day class----not happy about that---they are going to offer the use of the gym equipment and coming to open swim as part of it----but honestly, that doesn't suit me at all and I don't want to come at other times. The price jump for me would be a bit much---and with both dh and I using the facilities, it would really hurt the pocket book too hard and not sure if we could manage it----it would be 120 a month for the 2 of us---I would have to look into the Y then--and their pool time and usage are horrible but I could at least use the indoor walking track there. All of this is because they hired a new instructor for the morning class and she is chasing people away---she has made it too hard for the people who attend---they are all older---most late 60's or older and need the pool to keep mobile and she is making it more for a younger more agile group---and they are leaving the class or coming to one of the later classes----we had one lady come on Monday night from that group---nice lady and she can do most things pretty well in the deep end and I think the other girl is doing most stuff in the shallow end---not good for arthritis that most of the ladies have---I know I could not do a whole hour in the shallow end---maybe once a week if doing 3x. I sure am hoping they rethink what they are going to do.

Way to go on getting the yard done and getting the yard mowed.

Guess we're going to have clouds and rain coming through all day. The clouds are probably why we slept in until after 8. Larry has now reserved a room for us in St. Louis Monday night which is the first day of our drive to Nebraska. We'll be there about a week and may stay with my dad and stepmom or my sister's place. Not sure. I'm pretty sure we don't want to pay for a motel room for a full week, but who knows. We'll play it by ear. There are a few places to stay within a half mile from dad's house.

I have no plans for the day but will have to go through the bills and accounts so things will get paid when they need to get paid while we're gone. I also have to figure out who's going to take care of the cat for a month.

Wonder if that is because they don't have to worry about debris falling into the clean water?
Looking forward to the pool tonight. Mowed back yard yesterday but it never makes me hurt like the front yard does---not so many obstacles to mow around, I am guessing.---Plus I was feeling better yesterday too.

Glad you got relief at the pool.

Bonnie, hope you can find a pool to use. I really hated when they shut down our old gym (with the good pool) and the new gym wasn't ready yet. Of course, the pool is the last thing to ever get finished.

Welcome, BONNIEBELLE2! Is there another pool you could get to at least a few times during the pool shutdown? There may not be any options near you, but I was lucky to be able to swim at 2 different Y's during my Y's renovation.

Welcome, Bonnie, what a bummer that it will be closed that long--hopefully they will reopen on time. I do mine in an indoor pool too.
Kerry, actually, the pool really helped last night---I paid bills after mowing the lawn and when I went to get up, boy, where the muscles complaining from the mowing---so the pool really helped work those kinks out---and I did all the exercises but did not push myself too hard and did not set off a round of coughing so it was a great workout.
Nice and chilly here this morning. Will mow the back yard when I get home today. Have a good Tuesday.

Hi everyone! I'm new to the team and love water aerobics and aqua Zumba! Our health and wellness facility has an indoor pool so I get to do this year-round. Our pool is closing in November for refurbishing and I will hate not getting to do water aerobics for a month!

Hopefully the water will help rather than hurt.

I came home and mowed the front lawn----the back will have to wait til tomorrow---not enough air in my lungs yet to do that much. Hoping the pool does not affect me that way.
