The holiday's have derailed all my plans...future, financial, health! Yes, I'm blaming it on the holidays! I'm ready to get back on track. It was fun while it lasted, but since mid November, I have just been a free spirit in all aspects of life. It's time to get back to routine!

Hello from Seattle(ish)! I'm Embi!

I'm in the habit of drinking a full glass of warm water upon waking to help with re-hydrating after 8 hours of sleep--and then moving onto my morning exercises. Just part of my normal day.

I like doing so many things that I'm too busy in my retired days. Reading is always tops, but also always have a craft going, & I seem to always have something I bot to put together. current is a new vacuum that I did all but one part I can't see where it goes. Cooking is an everyday pain or pleasure. Making bread is my recent joy. always have a jigsaw picture puzzle going. Gardening is sort of seasonal, but I just ordered some paperwhite & amaryllis bulbs, & I have some herb seed to plant indoors. Keep a daily 10 year journal. play the piano; play computer solitaire while I watch TV.

Aint life grand?

QOD 5 November, 2019
Itís Election Day in the US.
I had a couple State ballot questions, nothing federal, and a mayoral race.
Itís one year until a presidential election, and an impeachment in progress.
Yesterday, I realized Iíve seen three impeachments start in my lifetime.
And my politics were formed by the first one.

Are you politically active? How do you express it?

Yes-and I have already changed my diet big time. With dry eye syndrome (insufficient tears and lack of oil being produced to protect the eyes with each blink---and inflammation that occurs mainly under my top eyelids, making it feel like there are pieces of gravel in the eyes) along with Lupus, etc., I have changed over to more of a plant-based diet and, most of all, cut out processed sugar the best way I can! As processed sugar totally sets off my eyes like you can't imagine!

So, that would be a huge YES for me-I've changed and will keep on my food plan, 96 ounces of water intake, spinach/kale smoothies everyday (added flaxseed, hemp powder, turmeric, etc.), getting in natural sugars from organic produce, etc.,taking care of gut health, avoiding preservatives, and maintaining a higher rate of physical activities all to help keep my eyesight from further damage, beat inflammation the only way I can (as Lupus loves to hit at any given time).

QOD 26 October

Would you radically change your diet for your health and endurance?

I just watched GameChangers on recommendation of a spark buddy, and wow....
I have been lacto veg for almost 40 years, with some stumbles.
But a scene with the separated blood of elite athletes after one meal of chicken or beef with cheese versus a bean and avocado meal was astounding.
I think Iím dropping dairy.

I also do yoga, pilates, and other exercises, along with having fitness equipment at home that I use. When the weather isn't the best, doesn't matter too much, as my dogs love and need their walks-so bundle up and off we go! And when the temps are too frigid for anyone to be out, my dogs do "their thing" outside and back in the house they run!!

We could make it a Team Challenge to do the 30 minutes of exercise in a day--and it could be whatever sort of exercises that you'd like to do. Then we could show the emoticon that we did it or even add up the 30 minutes-like we do for the water challenge-adding the 30 to the person who posted before you and watching the minutes add up as we go along. Kinda hard to explain in words, but maybe something on that order would work well.

I think a day at the spa would be much much better for me. The idea of free massage, facial etc is great. I would not really enjoy food cooked by a chef as sometimes I find it inedible!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd say on average maybe two times a week, once with my parents to take them shopping and then on another day, to the farmers market and/or health food store to get my fresh produce every week.

And I stock up on items when they're on sale as well, so my larger freezer is usually stocked, same with the shelves in the pantry.

Used to have my hair done and styled at a salon when I worked 31+ years at a law office. But now that I'm more or less semi-retired and working retail on a part-time basis, I'm able to cut my own as have more of a casual type style. And, my Mom is always ready to even me out in the back where I can't quite see or do more of the tapering and thinning-as I have quite thick hair.

I try to get in at least 96 ounces of water a day-and due to a medical condition. I fill my water container to the 96 ounces and, when I'm home for the day, etc., once that container is empty--I've done it!

Usually. I tend to get six glasses in three ďsessionsĒ, waking, mid afternoon or post exercise, and before bed, and I sip the rest of the day. I can come in at seven glasses, or nine. I figure it all averages.

Have a wedding to go to August 31 & September ! so planning to get everything ready for it. As it means 3 saris, 3 blouses (2 Bras) & 2 long cotton slips from waist down to tone. There are 2 functions on the Sunday. So will have to change but toning things might do.

I like planning and organizing parties with fun ideas and decorations to fit the occasion, but as to cooking, everyone bringing a dish to pass is always a fun way to try new dishes made by others and has a more casual feel to the meal. And I'll usually get an idea of what type of dish they're bringing-casserole? dessert?, etc., so I make sure to have everything that would be in a typical meal.

problem with potluck type party is that some try to be mean & bring small portions so in the end I have to provide enough. So they get to feel good that they contributed but I have to provide any way then they expect to give my leftovers if any but it may not be a lot.

Iíve started and stopped so many times. My use of Spark is related to my own state.
I find it useful, but not a deeply necessary tool.
To compare, Iím not a heavy social media user.

I love knitting simple things. I come up with some thing like an afghan or tote for end-of-year gifts for Erik & Sean's teachers. Christmas gifts for them are dishcloths or something similar.

Also make quite a few hats, scarves, dishcloths and such for our church craft fair. Retired, so I definitely have more time than money, and this lets me give more to my church than I otherwise could.

I buy the yarn for teacher end-of-year gifts online, because I want better quality and need a certain amount. Almost all of the smaller items are made with yarn I get really inexpensively at my favorite thrift store. I shop for yarn there about every couple of weeks and work with whatever I find.

I love making junk journals, creatively journaling, putting together albums and scrapbooks, making cards, doodling, etc. I'm a little obsessed with paper, love the creativity and the fact that it is a very inexpensive hobby, often using ephemera that most people throw away.
