This rainy California evening, I'm happy to follow dear Strawberry Moon in posting my gratitudes, some of which include:

* an evening walk looking for the full moon, obscured by clouds tonight, but a quiet joy in just knowing it was there.

* a book in the mail that I've been expecting for several days. Woo hoo! It's here!

* chana masala with flax oil drizzled on it.

* memories of my grandfather's farm.

* cows

* choices.

Have a blessed weekend!

This wet, chilly evening I give thanks for:

my new friend Metta who just joined this community

Rebecca reminding me the full moon is nigh

a bowl of home-made chicken stock dense with egg noodles and bits of chicken, carrot, and celery

my Lucky Bamboo plant (sold during the Chinese New Year season), which I bought for my desk to cheer me and and bring me good luck :-)

the fact that the content of an email I sent to the wrong person wasn't embarrassing--I'm usually sooooo careful

chatting with an old friend I haven't seen in eons and making plans to get together for lunch

another free evening to stay warm and cozy in my flat

sweatshirts

the joy of joy.

Peace and blessings,

Thankful that I finally got to sleep last night!

Thankful that my thoughts stayed positive all night.

Thankful for my furry friends and their warmth.

Thankful for warm snuggly blankets.

Thankful for my hands when I am creative (and when I am working.

Thankful for all my new friends. Sooo thankful for the Sparkguy!!!

Reading everyone elses Gratitudes makes me feel good after reading my daily prayer requests. We have so much to be thankful for, so much taken for granted.

Thankful for honest, kind people who share with strangers.

Lord, I love thee
For the music of the waters, For the wild wind's melody, For the arch of heaven's splendor, For the secrets of the sea. For the wonders of the night-time, For the glory of the day, For the blessed joy of living, Lord I love thee. For the pearly flush of rose leaves, For the flower scented air, For the trembling hush of dawning, For all the beauty of everywhere, For the joy of friendly faces, For the graces of each day, For the hope of winning heaven, Lord I love thee.

Gratitudes:

that I'm now part of the university's Gamer Symphony Orchestra along with my DH and DD (how cool is that)

for this job and especially that it gives me access to so many cool things

that even though I have to deal with furloughs, I still have a job AND that the DH's cola increase kicked in

that we're refinancing our house and that the reduction in mortgage payments will almost cover the car payments

that we bought the new car AHEAD of the rain, snow and other unpleasant winter elements

that Aunt Flow is almost gone

that I'm losing inches

for all my spark friends

The breezes at dawn have secrets to tell you. Don't go back to sleep.
-- Jalaluddin Rumi

Good morning! With SO MUCH to give thanks for, I'm so glad I didn't go back to sleep~~

~ snow carpeting the ground and coming down steadily as I write (NOT the norm here in the mid-south)

~ a "snow day" to use wisely with a promise to myself of limited online activity

~ my friends here, who encourage me, buoy me up, and make me laugh

~ a lovely evening with a simply delicious supper with girlfriends

~ The Man Who Sued God with Billy Connolly and Judy Davis -- seriously one of the best movies I can remember seeing...I want to get up on the highest SPeople building and shout it out:

"Comedian Billy Connolly plays Steve Myers, a lawyer turned fisherman whose life goes topsy-turvy when lightning destroys his boat. Citing the event as "an act of God," Steve's insurance company denies his claim for damages. Then he hits upon the notion of suing the Almighty, or rather a group of churches professing to represent the deity -- putting them in the awkward position of refuting God's existence or taking the blame in this lively comedy."

It's BRILLIANT and beautifully choreographed!

Blessed be!

It's been a while since I've posted gratitudes. If I'm honest with myself, I've been more grumpy than grateful. But today is the day ....

-- the scale has moved the right direction this week
-- my daughter arrived safely in Cape Town and found a house to live
-- my son found good roommates and a house to share
-- my classes are keeping me busy but not making me crazy
-- my husband and I have a date night Saturday night -- dinner & a play

Peace to all,

Sandra

If not, how about a recipe?

This evening I give thanks for:

the pleasure of J.D. Salinger's writing-- what gifts he gave to this world

the way my teeth feel after getting them cleaned this morning

driving myself to the East Bay on all those confusing freeways whirling around, over, and under each other--I'm a city mouse and don't drive myself out of San Francisco more than a couple of times a year, seriously

navigating a Home Depot store--my first ever--which was a bit overwhelming because I shop in neighborhoods not malls

the helpful and pleasant sales people there, who were patient with my questions, some of which even I thought were silly

new houseplants--thanks Gail

home-made vegetarian chile seasoned similarly to mole sauce--yum

another night to curl up and read

being so lucky to keep learning new things no matter how old I get.

Peace and blessings to all,

Michelle

So glad to visit here with you all ... I really NEED that! LOL Weird, weird day and then look up when I got home and realized the full moon is almost here ... dah - an aha moment!

Tonight's Attitude of Gratitude...

~ glad to be home and snuggled in as "baby it's cold outside!"

~ productive and very busy, exhausting day at work but glad I have a job and that my roles make an impact

~ my fantastic team members and all their exuberance and diligence in making our business great

~ calling the studio and getting my dance lesson moved up so I could get home

~ lesson going well and feeling my whole body relax after about 5 minutes

~ my articulate, young, energetic instructor and the talents he possesses. I am really amazed at this kid and I'm not just talking his dancing. Really bright and really a good kid.

~ getting my youngest to finally answer the phone for a brief 3 minute talk. Grateful that he is here, working to "figure it out" and grateful that I was judicious in my words

~ chinese take out - a cheat meal tonight. Not sure yet whether that was a good idea for me after eating clean for the past 90 days.

"The divine manifestation is ubiquitous." I LOVE that. Thank you Joseph Campbell and thank YOU, Mahalakshmi!

On this Thursday, I am thankful for many many things, including Maha gently prodding me to write something yesterday, when I didn't have much time to ponder and think. A good thing. You are a dear blessing in my life!

* the legacy of great minds and hearts who have blessed us with their lives.

* a quiet day with Duke as my companion.

* for last night's women's circle.

* basmati rice with urad daal, the kind they make at Sikh temples across Northern India, right here in my fridge. Leftovers anyone?

* a back rub and shoulder massage from V, just when I needed it.

* the many manifestations of love in my life.

* prioritized time for a walk and self care.

The divine manifestation is ubiquitous, only our eyes are not open to it....Awe is what moves us forward.
-- Joseph Campbell

Good early evening! It has been a full day and I'm full of thanksgiving for, among the myriad things~~

~ a challenging day in all three classes...with feelings of insufficiency and negativity surfacing, giving me yet another opportunity to work with the tricks of the mind and grow -- in SO MANY WAYS

~ an opportunity to see my hero Joseph Campbell in action during a multi-media program at the San Francisco Palace of Fine Arts many moons ago

~ the exquisite literary legacy left to us by J.D. Salinger, who left the body last night at 91 years old

~ the important socio-political legacy of Howard Zinn, illustrious historian/professor/author and progressive social activist, who left the body last night at 87 years old

~ the fullness of heart and spirit that Usha's post on my SparkPage gave me...gotta' share the joy with you!

"In workshop, David Whyte (a poet who appears in my blogs frequently) has the allure of Krishna, the Divine Beloved, about him. He stands with one foot crooked and I had the idea that he really ought to be holding a flute! He is enchanting.

"Last year, he came to Mt. Madonna directly from the memorial service for the passing of his friend John O' Donohue (another poet who frequently appears in my blogs, e.g., yesterday), so we had candles and celtic symbols laid out. For three days, we were saturated in the love these two magnificent poets shared, for life and for each other. I was left with a strong sense of legacy and responsibility at being part of that, a blessing from the Way of Beauty and Self Expression."

Blessed be!

Rushing to get to bed at a more a less reasonable hour (for me!) tonight, but stopping by for inspiration from all my Spark friends first...grateful to find you all here! Also grateful for a relatively productive day, fresh green peas and mint, a hearty pot of stew, and the relative comfort and safety enjoyed by my family.

Thankful for the presence also of my mediation buddies, and for the presence of mind to stick with some key intentions this week -- so far -- including daily nutrition tracking, catching up on some reading, reduced computer time and gentle reminders to myself to be mindful of where my thoughts are taking me (or not!).

Have a wonderful Thursday everyone!

I also am in thoughts & prayers about the 3 young men that died in our area as NORLANA. My kids all graduated from the school district that they attended and my husband knew the one boy from baseball.

Tonight I am grateful for...

~ My family being safe & sound

~ My neuropathy feeling much better today

~ Meds for both neuropathy & migraines

~ Being able to get my workouts in today

~ The stranger that found my son's 2 dogs and called the vet listed on the rabies tag to find their owners and then taking care of them until my daughter in law could pick them up.

Tonight I give thanks for:

a "clean" mammogram today--seven years cancer free

making a lovely, little half sandwich and taking it with an apple to eat between appointments, because I wouldn't have had time for a restaurant lunch--luckily I just don't like the taste of fast food

the luxury of sitting on a bench in the sun for my mini picnic

an excellent session with my wise and witty therapist, who can take a joke--even about doctors

another morning of meditation, then breakfast

feeling much more impulse control

treating myself kindly

the support of friends wherever I find them

all my many graces, especially the inspiration I find in your gratitudes

the wonderful support we give each other.

Peace be with you,

Michelle

Oh yes! The white window appeared tonight in record time. That's my first thankful thing for tonight. (I live in the middle of nowhere with super slow net.)

2. My eldest son helped me with some yard work today.

3. Same son joined me when I decided to walk to church inside of riding in the car. 25 minute walk!

4. It's super hot tonight, but I have a good fan.

5. A crazy funny picture of one of my nephews that my sis-in-law sent me today made me laugh.

"God demonstrates his own love for us in this... Christ died for us."

Sending well wishes to Norlana and her town...

Today I am thankful:
*That just as the last of my winter reserve is waning, a festival is coming to town to renew me and give me a brief respite

*for my sweeties, who work very hard each year to make the festival a reality

* that the horrible mistake I thought I'd made at work, turned out not to have happened

* for my decision NOT to eat a whole lot of cookies, just to get them out of my way

* for some free time tonight to do history for the joy of it (instead of for a pay check)

I'm Sue, and I won't let fear hold me back.

What a crazy, sad, mixed up day!! It is these times when it is even more important for me to have an Attitude of Gratitude and Positives!

~ hearing sad news about a tragic event in our community as 3 teenage firelighters were killed on the way to practice drill. I am grateful for all of our firefighters and that these fine young men who volunteered to serve. I am grateful that our tiny community as they come together. I am grateful that my children are alive and well and that my dear man, also a volunteer firelighter, has been returned safely to me each time. I am praying for the families tonight.

~ for this place, this space in which to jot my gratitude's down

~ Skype

~ for the continued ability to take EXCELLENT care of ME today through healthy food choices, hydration and exercise - which happens to be next.

DOLLYBABE, my heart goes out to you.

Tonight my gratitudes include...

~ Getting through & over with urodynamics with 4 recaths today. At least the RN was nice.

~ Some quality bonding time with baby sis. Both of us being poor sorta made it more fun. (OK, not TEE's fall at Target, but the rest:D I hope you're feeling ok, tee!)

~ Realizing the pain in my hand is not from a pinched nerve, but my neuropathy acting up again.

~ The lyrica making my dizzy, but making the pain go down to a dull roar

~ Getting a little ST & gazelle in fairly late tonight

Although I went to my 6 funeral since Nov today and was treated beyond cruel by my husband I have some gratitude
I am so thankful for a grand daughter that has a great sense of humor and loves me so much. Thankful for a great neighbor that played games and fed my coffee for 2 whole hours. And for a pleasant visit with my cousin

Today I give thanks for:

seeing the sun for a while after a gray and foggy morning

getting errands done in a timely fashion

finding something online my father's wife wanted and having it sent to her as a little gift (trying to help keep her spirits up since my father died)

eating all the foods I love and staying within my calorie count, plus eating healthfully

seeing to some much needed small household maintenance tasks--more to go

Gail telling me how to unclog the holes in my shower massage

new members joining the "Thich Nhat Hanh....and others team" and some long-time members starting to post again

my sweet, little branch library only a few blocks from my flat

another day of meditation and eating breakfast

feeling so alive

this lovely community and all its caring members.

Peace and blessings,

Mid day greetings to all! On this quiet, overcast, San Diego afternoon...I express gratitude
* For the kindness of the airport employees who have so graciously and lovingly pushed me and "Thud" (my immobilizer boot) through one airport after another in a wheelchair these past couple of weeks.
* For clean hotels, courteous desk clerks, and complimentary breakfasts...all make the travel SO much nicer.
* For another opportunity to drop in and check on my folks today
* For our dull gray hills now covered with bright green, and the mountains covered with snow...oh California needs this SO badly!
* For finding a radio station playing folk music...and catching a wonderful interview with Peter Yarrow during a long drive.
