Hey team, I have so missed you. I will continue on SPBreak for another couple of weeks. Still with my family. Want to give you an update. I do have so much for which to be grateful, but I will not make that list right now. I am making a small list in my agenda every day.

I'm at the hospital with my mom for a catscan. She has some circulation problem. We waited 2 wks for this apptmt, had two days of meds to prepare for it, got up at 4:30 a.m.(yawn), came and because of a misunderstanding were sent back home without the test! My sis called the dr. and straightened things out and we came back to hospital only to be told they couldn't fit us in today! The receptionist heard our story of woe and kept trying. While she was doing that, I phoned the dr.'s office to see what could be done. While I was on the phone, the receptionist told us she got us in. So...now mom is in a room on IV to flush her system. She had lunch then I came down to the dining room. Kinda know my way around cuz this is where Daddy was last year.

We are pleased that they were able to get the test run. I was imagining not being here when they coulda used my help to go through this with her.

My daughter was here for Daddy's memorial service. It was nice and about 40 of us present, including relatives from another state. Oldest son is planning to come out on Memorial wkend. A dear friend is coming over Tues. and we will spend about 24 hrs together. That will be a welcome break as I have been "on duty" all this time with very few breaks. There are things that have really bothered me, esp. my mom's inability to communicate with me. My sis does a better job at that. I am trying my best not to regress when mom does!
emoticon That is, not react to her stubbornness and/or insistence on doing things her way, which isn't necessarily the best for her health needs.

The technician this morning reminded her that with many older people who have diabetes the time comes when they "start losing pieces." I am sure that was not what mom wanted to hear, but it is reality. This problem with her circulation could be the beginning of what may lead to that. Her bloodsugar is too often much too high, she eats what she shouldn't at times, and has insulin injections 4X a day. Her feet have been consistantly reddish and spotted and one big toe is deep purple. Thankfully, no sign of gangrene.

My two brothers, who live with my folks and one in particular is caretaker, finally listened to my sister and have been smoking outside the house now that the weather has warmed, most of the time. I, of course, KNOW when they smoke in the bathroom, and I feel angry that they were doing this all of this last year and previous, even with warnings about my Dad's oxygen tanks in the house. And I know that this contributes to my mother's health issues, altho not directly to her diabetes. I have felt some decreased lung capacity, so began taking Omega 3 and Vitamin C last week. Also trying to get out for some fresh air once inawhile. Took a 7 mile walk two days ago and that felt sooo great. Have done yoga with FitTV almost every day for two weeks or so. Have enjoyed getting up before the others and having some breathing time.

Hugs to you all, and thx so much for your prayers. I can hardly wait to get home and back into a routine.

Tonight I am thankful for sunshine, rain and rainbows. For lovely breezes and the leaves that they manage to swirl around my yard. For ice cream or frozen yogurt, my choice. For the health of my family and friends. For getting an anatomy lesson from AT to remind me that I too, have a lot of parts that are functioning perfectly so some not-so-much.
For a day full of laughter and just a little bit of tears. . . .needed to clear the eyes.
For all of my friends and their sense of humor.

Good evening all. Grateful tonight
* For being able to walk pain free for over 1 1/2 consecutive miles. HUGE after a set back last week
* Lunch date scheduled with old friend
* Fava beans, just picked, two days in a row
* The things I take for granted in my body...a heart that keeps on tickin', a brain that keeps on thinking, the lungs that keep on breathing, the stomach that keeps on digesting, the ears that keep on hearing, the eyes, the skin, the kidneys, the taste buds, and so on. All continue to function well, without me asking them to...what nice features we have built in!
* The other parts of the body that I DO have control over, my arms, my legs, my hands and so on. I am SO blessed that they, too, continue to function pretty well for a gal my age!

To what do I owe gratitude today? hmmmm ... it's been a challenging week.

* I'm alive and healthy
* Friends
* Healthy confusion (and a minimum of not-so-healthy brooding)
* only one small emotional binge at the door of the refrigerator god
* a beautiful evening on the patio sipping a (as in one) gin & tonic
* a life worth living, possibilities (even though they are not always welcome) and freedom to choose

Sorry all, that's as much gratitude as I can muster up today.

Mahalakshmi, in the time that it takes you to read this short Note, you could have planted a new image in your mind (anything you like, ideally with an emotional charge); I could have reacted (realigning planets, people, and the sort), and the floodgates would've begun trembling violently as we'd have been drawn infinitely closer to manifesting the vision you'd chosen.

Fortunately, there's still time.
Hot dog,
The Universe
P.S. It doesn't have to be hard, Mahalakshmi, or take a lot of time.

Taking time to give thanks in community this morning. Not sure when I'll next check in. One thing I DO know...there's no cell phone or internet reception at Devil's Den State Park, where I'll be for the next few days~~

~ LOVE Note from the Universe this morning!
~ LOVE Panhala's poem this morning!
~ LOVE Juan this morning (thought the frig wasn't functioning, which would mean using an ice chest for the journey, but he came by last night and "fixed it")
~ LOVE kindred spirits on the path of Awakening
~ LOVE my little Dolphin Baby...I'm off like a turtle this morning (turtles are S.L.O.W. and carry their homes on their back)

Blessed be!

Good morning all.

I miss coming in here. I wish I didn't feel so overwhelmed so much of the time. By comparison, I have very little stress in my life. Just can't seem to get a good handle on things. I've tried to write the past 2 nights but get so behind on what's up with everyone. So, I'm here now & will jump in regardless.

I AM grateful for:
~the 5 1/2 hours of sleep I did manage to get
~this comfy new to us house that I know will become more & more of a home
~you guys
~Safe travels for ATRANSFORMATION

Have a groovey Wednesday, you lovely people!

EDIT: Jeepers, man, make that Tuesday!!

Good morning, friends! I would like to second AT's sentiments, I love this team. I look forward to reading all of the posts before I add my own. I learn so much about gratitude from each one of you. I miss you when you take a break. I celebrate when you return. I welcome new people to the thread. I appreciate the heart-felt joys big and little, the inspiration, the lessons learned while overcoming challenges and grief, the ironies life throws at us and the humor in them. I give thanks for each and every one of you!

And as always, I give thanks for a life worth living, possibilities and the freedom to choose.

May your day shine brightly,
Sandra

Oh, the joy from reading all your gratitudes....each and everyone for the first time in days. I LOVE this team!

Sunday in San Diego County, and I count my own blessings
* My dad, and our wonderful time together
* For literally channeling my mom through my hands as I redid a huge painting of hers, to coordinate colors with Dad's new furnishings
* The joy of holding a paint brush in my hands once again. It has been TOO long!
* A visit with my mom, and her brief moment (albeit terribly sad) of lucidity. Made me appreciate her dementia and her lack of distress while in that state.
* The neighbors who "are taking care of" my husband in my absence.
* My husband's truck started today! a cracked battery cable was the only problem - no need to go car shopping for now!
* That we DIDN'T purchase the car of our dreams
* MY life, which I wouldn't trade for anyone else's.

This evening I am grateful for another day of sunshine before we are blessed with some rain.
For a special breakfast with my honey and then listening to some excellent blues at a local pub this afternoon. Watching some talented dancers. Enjoying great coffee.
That my grandson completed and graduated with his Masters in Finance. And the granddaughters will all be in college this coming Sept.in their chosen fields. What more could I be thankful for. A comfortable home and the health and safety my family and friends enjoy.

On this Sunday afternoon, I come to share just a few of the many things in my life to be grateful for:

-Having a lazy day to catch up on reading everybody's gratitudes for the past THREE days - I have missed this amazing community of people
-An incredibly enjoyable 3 days with my sister in town for my graduation - bagpipe processional and all
-The celebration continues next weekend
-The amazing Maha, my excitement for her magical mystery tour and her presence in my life in so many ways
-My loving acceptance of my mother's limitations (which my angry sister just DOES NOT GET)
-Excellent heartfelt discussions with my sister this weekend and our agreement to disagree with love and tolerance of different experiences and beliefs
-Her being able to come back to Kansas City for GOOD THINGS and not be overwhelmed by this being where her first husband is buried and all of the terrible memories surrounding his death
-The many new possibilities I have for spending my precious time that has been devoted for so long to my studies. The many options (for which I am deeply grateful) are almost overwhelming, but I'm handling it!! :-)
-Progress on my PURRfect mystery jigsaw puzzle
-My stedfast, soulful, big-hearted, loyal, beautiful and loving partner and her amazing presence in my life
-Rainy days and how they provide me with such awesome opportunities for rest and relaxation that I might not otherwise allow myself

Sorry so long - lots of catching up to do after being gone for 3 days!!!!

Make it an excellent Sunday everybody!

Stephanie

I try to remind myself that we are never promised anything, and that what control we can exert is not over the events that befall us but how we address ourselves to them.
-- Jeanne DuPrau, The Earth House

Good afternoon!

Thankfulness~~

~ as soul sister Trace says: for "the power of collected energy and your willingness to direct it to our excellent Fractalmyth... yes, YOU... I mean YOU!"

~ for Juan, who completed a thorough inspection and repair of all camper systems and charged me $100, a pittance, for all the hours he spent and parts he bought

~ for Juan, who gave me a lesson in backing up the camper using ONLY the rearview mirror system

~ for Juan, who patiently went through each area of functioning of the camper in great detail while I took notes

~ for the 26-years old Toyota Dolphin with EVERY system functioning superbly, as well as the engine...it's a dream come true!

~ for the last check-up...on the Toyota itself, a 9:00am Mon. app't.

~ for Janice, my longtime girlfriend and former housemate, who is meeting me at Devil's Den State Park Tuesday, to camp a few days together. She's a poet and Mary Oliver lover as well (I gave her a CD of Mary Oliver reading her work one year for her birthday) and we'll go to Mary Oliver together. What a wonderful beginning for the journey...with a soul sister!

Blessed be!

Today I am so thankful for

~ the power of collected energy and your willingness to direct it to our excellent Fractalmyth... yes, YOU... I mean YOU!

~ for fresh mint found growing wild on a city corner which I have pulled a few stalks up and carried home... some to dry and some to chop into some tabouli salad that has been in my cupboard waiting for me to find some mint...

~ for completely unexpected good news from the vet. Pickles the boxer who turned 11 years old 3 weeks ago and was diagnosed with kidney failure when she first came to live with me after being dumped at the pound... had a full blood panel done Thursday and her blood work was SPOT ON! Every day since she has been here I have told her: "THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH YOU, LITTLE DOG." It turned out to be true! (Except for the scratch on her eye which is being a devilment to heal up but we are working on that...)

~ And great thanks to Maha for her wonderful reminder to let go of the fullnesss so the emptiness can be filled...
