Today, I start my day with gratitude for:

-FINALLY getting to meet Cathy (Asherah) in 3D yesterday (three times is a charm and truly, persistence pays off)
-A really great walk with Cathy, 4 miles worth by my calculations, enjoying some beautiful nature, including loads of cardinals, bunnies and a most beautiful hawk
-My calf doing JUST FINE after our walk (it was a test for me)
-Looking forward to having friends over for dinner tonight
-Being able to help another friend

Make it an excellent day everybody!!

Good morning,

Here~~

~ the "joy inside the tears", as Stevie Wonder wrote

~ looking forward to brunch at a friend's this morning and then on to swoon over Johnny Depp at a matinee (you say "grow up!" and I say "why?")

~ though I didn't go to bed until after 1:00am I feel fine this morning AND I did get some needed organizing done too!

Blessed be,

OK. Maha...you have kicked me in the you know what two days in a row...I DID make this a sticky thread last night, if you noticed....and today, expressing gratitude for so many, many blessings...

* That my dad arrived safely yesterday, traveling for the first time in almost two years!
* For my GREAT nephew, who is choosing to live with my dad through the summer (win win for everyone...my nephew lives oceanfront and rent free, my dad has company a lot of the time and is no longer having fearful nights - they both love sports, old movies and are high energy, and the rest of us can relax knowing someone is close by in case of emergency)
* For the incredibly beautiful days following freak May hail/thunderstorms with record breaking rain for this time of year
* For the quiet hours in the wee of the night
* For being ALMOST ready (down to only needing memory cards for the camera and a few other small items) for our upcoming amazing trip
* For a body that functions so well, after all the years of abuse.
* For my new wig, which means I can have great hair in about 1.2 minutes, vs bad hair even after 1.2 hours! (Its pretty funny, actually...all I get are compliments on my great new cut! If only my hair looked that good...)
* For the health of my grandkids, and the joy they bring to my life
* For taking time off from the theater and realizing it is nice to feel "retired"

And what did Yul Brenner say so eloquently? et cetera, et cetera, et cetera....
Always grateful, knowing that life, now matter what shape it appears to be in...is good..

~~~Kathy~~~
Scales lie. Pants don't lie.
~~~

If the only prayer you ever say is "thank you" that shall suffice. ~~~~~~ Meister Eckhart

Greetings, all --

* I'm grateful that the sun came out yesterday afternoon -- everything was shining and sparkling.
* I'm thankful that I can work at home and can go weed the garden when I feel like it.
* I'm thankful that I have work this summer.
* I'm grateful that I have people who believe in me.
* I'm glad to have my dear kitty cat.
* I'm grateful to that I've shed five of the 17 pounds I gained after my back problem this winter.

Be well.
Kathleen

Oh Valerie! I had to laugh a little at the Walt Whitman quote about animals. My old dog whines when we won't let him in, whines when the girl dog lays on his rug, he whines when it rains and gets mad at us all from time to time and tries to ignore us. He must have spent too much time living with humans and not other animals!

I'm happy for:

reconciliation with my dh after a few days of misunderstanding
satisfaction that I am not going to visit my m-i-l in a place where I do not ever really want to go again
happy boys
ready supper in my crock pot - hope it's good

I am thankful that Yoovie was able to make her peace with the terms this site mandates so that she can be good with the way she is allowed by our overlords to shine her light on so many people who look to her for so much...

As hard as it is for people to understand that your light comes from within, I am thankful that if she shines hard enough, some light may get in through the cracks in the brains of the masses.

I am thankful for yourselves...

I am not gone yet. I am not here as I was.

I am not thankful for too much else at the moment but I am thankful for you allowing me to show up glowering as I am.

I am NOT. PLEASED. with this place. I don't expect to be here much if I can manage to be here at all.

But I love every single freakin' one of YOU!

Truly.

I think I could turn and live with animals, they are so placid and self-contain'd,
I stand and look at them long and long.

They do not sweat and whine about their condition,
They do not lie awake in the dark and weep for their sins,
They do not make me sick discussing their duty to God,
Not one is dissatisfied, not one is demented with the mania of owning things,
Not one kneels to another, nor to his kind that lived thousands of years ago,
Not one is respectable or unhappy over the whole earth.

-Going over and cooking dinner late this afternoon for my dear friend who's had a pretty bad week, and especially making a dinner that she enjoyed

You are SO BLESSED to live the life you have.
You have so much to be thankful for.
-- SparkFriend Vivian in a note to me

Good morning. Giving thanks for it all~~

~ waking up to Vivian's email this morning, such a nice message to start the day with

~ the good, the bad, and the ugly (an aside -- someone asked me to name a song the other day...and I couldn't...it was "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly" hahahahaha)

~ the extraordinary book by Pema Chodron that is speaking deeply to me (again): THE PLACES THAT SCARE YOU: A Guide to Fearlessness in Difficult Times

~ finding the above book in Spanish so that Adelaida and I can read it together while I'm in Ecuador

~ loving the lightness and brightness of Mazzy's gratitudes and happy to be right "here" with her

Blessed be,

Hello, Michele, Mazzy, and all --

I'm grateful today to be able to post my gratitudes for the first time in a long time!

I'm grateful for my body and all its intricate systems that allowed me to clear one of my garden beds, dig and spread manure, and plant the sunflowers.

I'm thankful for hot tea on a chilly day.

I'm grateful for work that is interesting and inspiring to me.

Namaste.
Kathleen

There's a self expansive aspect of gratitude. Very possibly it's a little known law of nature: the more gratitude you have, the more you have to be grateful for.

Good morning. I know St. James' statement is true, and I'm here to experience it~~

~ a one-liner from Sandra yesterday (actually a note-in-the-subject-line): "In Greece ... having a blast. More later." YIPPEEEEEEEE!

~ Stephanie's active lifestyle such a LIGHT and inspiration, particularly in terms of her deep-seated sense of service and the myriad ways she carries it out (like Habitat for Humanity today)

Today, I come with a mind filled with gratitude, and here's just a small part of it:

-Following dear friend Maha AND hearing about her 23-MILES on the VitaSport - YOU GO, GIRL!!!! Wooooo Hoooooo, Maha!!
-My heavy sadness at the thought of Trace leaving SparkPeople (helped only by knowing from Gibran that I must be able to feel sadness to also feel joy)
-Goals and the very important role they play in my life
-Focus (akin to the mindfulness Maha speaks of) that helps get me to those GOALS (gee, think I'm seeing a pattern here - DUH!!!)
-An opportunity to work with Habitat for Humanity tomorrow, although I know this day will be a tough one as we're laying cement for a carport and building a retaining wall for the elderly couple who live in this Habitat house
-My foresight in scheduling a massage on Sunday with a therapist who specializes in sports injuries (to help my ailing calf that is still REALLY TICKED OFF after last Saturday's 5K) - of course, it doesn't take much of anything to give me an excuse to schedule a massage
-Making it to the quarter-finals in Corporate Challenge at the pool tournament and getting us an extra 3.5 points (and knowing that Corporate Challenge benefits Special Olympics again this year)
-Being able to take what I like and leave the rest - a skill that has served me well over the years
-It's Friday, with a break from my desk job and getting to fill tomorrow with physical labor, which always makes me feel really good

Have an excellent evening everybody!

Stephanie

Whew!

Had a bad afternoon headache, but managed to make it through my kids' English classes inspite.
Couch-potatoed with my oldest and enjoyed watching the Fat Albert movie (again).
Headache ran away somewhere in the middle of the movie.
Had pre-planned and supper was all but ready.
A little comp. time before bed.
Good start to SAT testing with my boys this morning, almost forgot!

Good morning! Happy to be here among you in community~~

~ enjoying a quiet morning

~ a nice chat with Sandra just before her departure for breakfast with the whole family (oh joy, even her daughter, who departs today for Capetown will be there) and then off to the airport to fly away to one version of paradise -- Greece!

~ loving that I'll see Sandra one day after she returns, since I'll spend the night at her place (my flight to Ecuador leaves at 6:20am the next morning1) and we're planning a WELCOME HOME! and BON VOYAGE! dinner with friends that evening -- something to look forward to for sure

~ a humorous misunderstanding...feeling all dejected that a friend didn't bother to tell me she's heading to ENGLAND this weekend until yesterday, until Sandra pointed out that it's likely ENGLAND, AR -- hahahahaha (guess I'm just a tad overly sensitive at the moment

This morning I am thankful for ....

* I am thankful for all of you. While not a technology-free holiday, I will only post sporadically the next four weeks. Will look forward to reading all of your posts on my return.

* today I leave for Greece for four weeks -- it will be a journey of discovery not just about culture and history but also of being in relationship with another human being.

* my two adult children who had years of emotional distance between them are now becoming fast friends

* breakfast this morning with my daughter who leaves to return to Cape Town this afternoon

* new challenges provide opportunities for new personal growth -- never easy but always fruitful

* Living mindfully in the present. This is the day the Lord has made, we will rejoice and be glad in it.

* As always, a life worth living, possibilities and freedom to choose.

Shine,
Sandra

Tonight, I end my day with gratitude for:

-A great job done by our corporate team in the city park behind our building today - planted begonias and ornamental grass around the fountain and in 3 other beds
-Got some exercise in again today. The past 2 days, my left calf has been pretty sore, probably from the 5K I ran Saturday, so I've given it a rest
-Picking up a great deal on a weight bench from our intranet at work
-Doing pretty perfectly today with exercise and eating
-Fresh flowers tonight again from our own yard, including two stunning beautiful baby red roses (I guess they're miniatures)

Goodnight all ...

Ok. ok. ok... I'm here and I am thankful for San getting her hair did and going off in her BIG ADVENTURE!

I am MOST thankful for skeep and I intend to get some and I mean SOON...
I am thankful for a great clinical trial program that gives me very expensive meds that help me move my body across this earth FOR FREE...

and soon they will kick in as it takes 'em about a week but I will be less tired then and maybe I will actually have gotten some actual sleep and that should help...

I am thankful for perfect wether and hope to get out into it without being asleep... sleep walking is no good no matter how nice the weather, I tell you...

All right... I must get home so I can get some play clothes on and decide if I can manage a mile or so in this perfect weather before I get to be thankful for real sleep and not just the imagined kind...

I AM THANKFUL FOR YOU!!

(Don't forget that part!!!!!)

Giving thanks this morning for ....

* reading your posts this morning. Spring has sprung.

* color-in-a-bottle didn't come out as badly as I thought last night. No need for a professional colorist today. Like I had time to do that anyway.

* Vitamin C, zinc and sleep yesterday. Felt like I was coming down with the crud just before our big trip. Feeling better this morning. More vitamin C & zinc just to make sure.

* my new suitcase -- a four wheeled spinner. Why didn't they think of this years ago (or maybe they did and I missed it)?

* my travel partner -- laid back, flexible, enthusiastic, curious and makes me laugh.

* leaving for our Grecian journey tomorrow -- four weeks walking with Socrates, St. Paul and the Minoan matriarchs, imagining mythological gods and goddesses, reading on the beach, eating fresh fish and sipping local wines in tavernas ... starting to get excited

* plans to leave a "spotless" home to return to .... at least spotless by my standards

* as always, a life worth living, possibilities and freedom to choose.
