Thankful for...

An easy time of getting little ones off today. Once again reminded that when Mommy's calm, the rest will follow.

the growth of a new board of directors and the promise that brings to Home Front Hearts.

Purging the house, making room for new opportunities.

Not feeling it today, but perhaps giving thanks will brighten my spirits. So, this Tuesday evening I am thankful for ....

* coffee with a friend
* updating my calendar and resolving conflicts
* keeping my urge to binge within bounds (so far)
* anticipating a fun dinner with a friend tomorrow night
* chatted with my daughter this morning
* looking forward to a six-day visit with my extended family
* a full life ... a life worth living

Thankful for

the occasionally moody but always beloved munchkin who turns 17 today. I was unmarried and unsure of where my relationship with Daddy would go when she was born and today (and every day) I'm reminded that even when I don't know the plan - God does and does it perfectly.

previously referenced DH - we may not have done things "in the right order" but as we mark almost 19 years together - it's been just right for us and I'm very grateful for our love for each other.

time to get the birthday decorations up and get the elliptical done before the first of my gaggle of babies awoke.

Treat the Earth well. It was not given to you by your parents. It was loaned to you by your children.

HEALTHY REFLECTIONS COMMENTARY:

Stewardship of the Earth

Reduce, reuse, and recycle sounds great, but do we really think about (and apply) earth management into our daily lives? You might not litter, but how often do you drive your own vehicle rather than carpooling? What about buying "green" products instead of commercial items made with harmful chemicals? It is easy to disregard the dangers to the environment because there are no immediate consequences to our lives. However, think about how the earth will be in 50 years if everyone lived as you are today. Set a good example to your children of stewardship for the earth by recycling, eating fresh fruits and vegetables, and generally appreciating nature. Instead of going to Disney World, go on a camping trip. Turn off the TV and pick some flowers. This world is not ours alone. It is communally shared with all of the generations before us, and all of those to come after us.

Grateful for...

an unexpected IRS refund. YAY!

Friday - and a brief respite from school-related drama

dinner out tonight to begin the 3 day event (LOL) that will be my daughter's 17th birthday and the fact that I've parented for almost 17 years without giving giving the four kids too much material for their future therapists (I hope).

Grateful tonight
* For the one year anniversary celebration of our performing arts center
* For being able to attend and thoroughly enjoy the event as a patron/donor, rather than as the house manager
* For being reminded by the volunteers that *I* did it - opened the place as front of house lead, trained them, nurtured them, and guided them to a place of comfort. And how much they appreciated all my work. I was so incredibly moved...and proud of what a beacon the building has become in our community
* For the brilliant sunset viewed from the building.
* For the incredible music of Shostakovich, played by the Chamber Orchestra of the Kremlin (yes, the real deal)
* For my aunt's healing in process...surgery probably not necessary, and respiratory status improving
* For her son, who drove 500 miles to be with her last night....

Happy February!

Today I'm grateful for...

All that's right in my life and here.
The good health my family and I enjoy.
Seeing the sun rise this morning.
An early morning walk.
The gift of today.
Doing what needed to be done.
Talking to an old friend.
Choices.
Being decisive.
Being assertive.

Hugs to you BlessedDaily!

Thursday Thanksgivings...

~an early start to the day
~warmer than usual temps forecast
~watching "Joseph Campbell: The Hero's Journey" on Netflix
~favorite dinner planned to fix tonight after several days of soup and salads
~not much sleep last night and I remember reading this advice in a parenting book when my three were small, "No matter how little sleep you get from staying up with your child you will probably survive until tomorrow." The word "probably" always made me smile.

Make it a special day and watch out for groundhogs!

Thankful for...

a quick internet chat with DH who signed on hoping to catch me while waiting in Germany for the next wing of his flight

his words that tell me his heart hurts as much as mine and what that love means to me

the end to a long day yesterday filled with upset children acting out (as is to be expected) and the beginning of a new day today.

It's your first and last garment;
it is what you enter life in and what you depart life with,
and it should be treated with honor.

Oh, my...another late night...but grateful despite that fact
* For shirt sleve weather on a day I did not want to wear a jacket.
* For dermatologist confirming skin cancer totally removed with "clean margins" (yay!)
* For my DIL who is fighting the REAL thing being able to do 120 pushups and progress to a purple belt in her MMA class (because she has been undergoing chemo since October, and has really hit the wall, she was excused from the required 125...)
* For my aunt, who was rehospitalized this morning, stabilizing after frantic calls earlier today.
* For a safe ride to sit with her, accompanied by my husband...what a gift he was tonight
* For Bailey's Irish Cream.
* For finding the perfect blouses on clearance at Ross (so you KNOW they were cheap!) for my mom to wear at my dad's party (depending which one fits and looks the best...the rest are just for....)
* For this crazy day being behind me...

This Wednesday morning I am thankful for ...

* bicycle rides three days in a row (trying to get psyched up for 30 min on the recumbent before I go to work this morning. Not there yet ....)

* a wonderful accountability and support system to help me exercise

* AT for keeping our community going

* living where I do -- it's quiet, has a well-equipped gym, at the trailhead of a 15 mile walking/biking trail, convenient to all the places I enjoy and I love my little apartment

* this loving, supportive community and the pracctice we share

* as always, a life worth living, possibilities and freedom to choose.

Sandra

I agree!

Thank you AT

So nice to be having such a mild winter in these parts after last year ... I'd written more, but it got "lost" in cyberspace ... maybe Newt will find it when he starts his moon colony (LOL)

Cowardice asks the question, 'Is it safe?' Expediency asks the question, 'Is it politic?' But conscience asks the question, 'Is it right?' I was so moved while watching this. What joy I receive each month as I search for the "perfect" way to start the new thread....I hope you will each take a few moments to play this brief video. And may you each be blessed the way I was...
