Today I bow my head in gratefulness for
My beautiful corner apartment where I can see the sun rise in my living room and set in my kitchen.
New possibilities and the opportunity to learn
The generosity of friends
Listening to Maha's advice and visiting Bob's spark page. Yes Maha, Bob made me smile
and Bob, have a groovy day.
For this and so very much more, I bow my head in gratefulness

Thankful for...

conviction in the face of obstacles (both small like the scale moving the wrong direction today and large like the struggle to find balance)

a gorgeous day that promises spring soon on the horizon

the 8 y/o that begged me to go on his class trip and the ability to put that first and be flexible with work around that (and more importantly that he still wants me there!)

Yikes - missed yesterday and one of my goals tracked is making sure I stop by here. So here's to two days of gratitudes

02/20/12 : grateful for...
- 17 y/o DD seeming to have recovered from a very resistant stomach bug and up and around

- beginning to see the basement floor again (one load of laundry at a time)

- my 15 y/o DS taking some initiative and helping around the house

Today: grateful for...

3 of 4 kids making it to school today

able to make a doctor's appointment for the 4th when he's been hard to get an appointment with recently

a more than 5 second conversation with DH and knowing the countdown until he's here again is in the homestretch.

Snuck in to my dad's bedroom to steal a few moments on the computer (for some reason, can't access Sparks from my phone!)

This week's gratitudes are many, but especially want to mention
* My dad's 90th birthday party being a complete and perfect success.
* The gracious people I worked with to get it done
* My brother, his family, my sister and hers...and my other sister for doing the centerpieces
* Having extra time with family...
* That my husband actually made it down (missed two consecutive flights...long story) and was able to share in the special occasion
* That my mom was able to share the day, sitting quietly, taking it all in...
* Ocean air
* Fish tacos
* Sunsets
* and so on, and so on, and so on....

Tonight I am deeply grateful for
-Having enough life experience to know that all things really do pass with time
-Life lessons that just keep on coming
-The belief that all things can change even if only a crack of light can enter (thank you Leonard Cohen and Maha)
-Being in the presence of Buddhist friends who keep my heart open and full
-The sweet awareness that as I type this sentence, Maha is at her birthday party and that she is surrounded by people who love her. Happy birthday, Maha
For this and so much more I bow my head in gratefulness

Thankful for...

a potentially tragic fall from a jungle gym that left my 8 y/o DS bruised but otherwise ok

what's looking like chickenpox on my 7 y/o DD that is much less severe than it might have been without the chickenpox vaccine

the cause of yesterday's poopy water fest that left much damage but was found in the house main instead of the mainline which means my yard didn't need to be dug up for the repair

tomorrow - which has to be better than the past week has been with ER visits and falls and vomit and rashes and flooding

Good morning,

I am here to sing praises for the abundance in my life~~

~ the deepening connection with precious inmate friends -- poignant, bittersweet, and full

~ I am full of joy and humility that I have friends who want to gather at dear Sandra's to celebrate ME today beginning my seventh decade on the planet (Feb 23), including two who I don't know, but are good friends of my friends, and thus I'm anxious to welcome them into my life as well

~ an amazing letter, overflowing with love from my dear friend Diana on Maui...I was in tears as I read it...and her special gift fit beautifully with her words

~ my ever-growing special friendship with Vivian, and her wonderful gifts, introducing me to a stunning new talent, Jennifer Berezan (I'm playing one of the CD's now)

~ delicious mashed root vegetables -- sweet potatoes, white potatoes, carrots

Today I am grateful for so much, perhaps too much to mention here.
I am thankful for all my sparkpeople friends who sent loving prayers for my niece who is so terribly ill. She is out of the hospital and at home recovering, waiting for the next battle.
I am thankful for fresh produce and the hands to turn it into nourishment for my body and soul.
For my familiy near and far that I wish could be much closer on the map. For my home, the warmth and love I find in it.

For my health and that of others so fortunate to be illness free.

This Friday evening, I give thanks for ...

* four crisis clients in a row today ,,,, A pregnant heroin addict on a step-down program ... a couple who screamed at each other for the better part of two hours ... an alcoholic depressed mom of three ... and a 40 year old unemployed homeless plumber with bipolar disorder. I am thankful they came in for help and that I could give them each a little bit of hope in some small way.

* As Michelle says, I am thankful for bits of sanity in this insane world of ours.

* My therapist who helps keep me sane who thankfully will soon be back from his six week vacation

* My family both immediate and extended ... I have never appreciated them more (or enough)

* For a quiet Friday night with my kitty, my computer and my TV. Here I am one couch potato.

* For time tomorrow to catch up on my internship portfolio (due Thursday).

* For each of you who share so much.

* living life to the fullest ... a life worth living

Steph, so glad my little jokes give you a smile! Bluebirdsfly love the profile px! Sherrie can I twist an idea from your post to my own selfish means??? Next time Iím gone three months, Iíll say I thought I had been posting, when I actually wasn't! Yeah, thought so, thatís the ticket, thought I'd been posting!

Only 3 more shopping days left for my Birthday- Iím registered at the Apple Store.

Today I am thankful for:

*my wife giving me the ok, that the house is clean enough for my teacherís visit. I am still doing things to prepare and make all look nice, but itís good to not have the pressure of the ďHammerísĒ ok looming over me.

*my computer tech guy. Iíve known him for some time and heís great to fix any problem that comes my way- had to call him this morning. The only problem with him, is that I had to tell him my password to an account years ago and he still kids me about it. The password I used back then was Poohbear and he still answers the phone when I call: Poohbear!!! Whatís up? Last time I had the comp. in the shop, it came back with a px. of pooh on it.

*seeing a lovely combination of a snow white Lenten Rose and a grouping of the Daffodil, ĎFebruary Goldí. The Daffodil is the second earliest to bloom each year, and a great naturalizer. The Lenten Rose is a seedling variant. It seems my collection of Rose colored Lenten Roses have been sleeping around a bit and crossed as they seeded downhill. This group comes from seedlings I gathered at my Garden Guruís Garden 20+ years ago.

*feeling excited at my teacher coming here this afternoon. Itís been a long time since I felt excited about anything.

*my crew helping me to prep. for his arrival. Though my lead foreman has been out ďsickĒ all week (I know she has been fishing- canít fool the bobster), the others have done great helping in non-job description tasks, I couldn't do with my back out.

*all the great well wishes from the Thanks budís! I really appreciate your patience and support, despite my frequent disappearances. No promises this time, but Iím hoping to stay around. Last time I thought I had hit bottom, and was back, then my back went out and I got sick and I slid down and out again- should have knocked on wood. take care bob

Good morning,

Ahhh...I'm feeling so much better today after a good night's sleed. You know, coming here every-other day (posting gratitudes with Rebecca, et al, on the "other" day) feels like I'm gone forever, but anyway here I am this morning, sharing the joy of giving thanks together~~

~ my housemate, who continually reminds me to give thanks for meals from the healthy, organic food I am so fortunate to have available

~ my SparkFriends, cyber and 3-D, a VERY REAL part of my life, adding so much vibrancy and wisdom

~ sharing Sandra's joy at her continued weight loss

~ a surprise almost ready to share with my dear friends this Sunday at the party celebrating the commencement of my seventh decade on the planet this round (actual day is 2/23, when a small group will head out for dinner fun)

Blessed be,

BTW, in case you're not familiar with "sleed" it's similar to "sleep" but just more peaceful, like a quiet "seed" just below the surface of the soil

Today, I have much to be grateful for, including:

-The smile on my face seeing Bob here (as always)!!
-The days are getting longer and now it's not dark when I leave my office to go home
-Full body strength training workout at lunch that made me feel really good (love those endorphin highs - and they're so inexpensive - LOL)
-Long weekend coming up
-Groupon deals - Saturday I get a spa package (massage, facial, brow/lip wax, hand/foot paraffin treatment) for half-price, perfectly timed as I've been very stressed out with helping my dear friend who has terminal cancer and just found out it has metastasised to the brain
-Always, always, always - my health and my continued ability to work this body, as there are so many around me who are unable to do so for a variety of reasons
-Each and every one of you here, sharing in this amazing practice; you know not how much your sharing impacts me and I bow in gratitude

Stephanie

Maha, I am so glad you like my Bobís Red Mill hot cereal! I do make a mean bowl, don't I? PeacefulOne, you have great taste in comedians! IAM1WEVRY1 glad to be seen. Hope the sightings are not so rare.

Today I feel thankful for:

*finding a new neuro-muscular massage therapist. Itís the first thing Iíve done for my body in 6 months. It went well; he is very trained and skilled and big enough to work on me and get through my muscles and tension. He said everywhere was extremely tight, and seemed to enjoy giving pain, but it was very helpful.

*a nice group of an early bunching type of crocus called ĎE.A. Bowlesí. It always reminds me of a wonderful client I had in the early 80ís. She was a wonderful Southern Lady of the old school. She was from an old family of the area, of quite high standing, but always made you feel so welcome, and at ease. She only wanted flowers that bloomed coral or white, except this little crocus that was pail yellow, that she had me plant in the yard to bloom in the grass.

*my teacher coming to visit my wife and I. Geshe-la will arrive tomorrow and be here through next Tuesday. His coming has been a great pick me up to finish the unpacking / organizing from the move last fall. I got to a point and was just too burned out to finish.
It has really bothered me to have such a mess around, but I was too worn out to do anything. I just hope my body holds up to finish moving things.

I also am getting a doo tomorrow, for the first time since moving, and wonít look like Nanuck of the North with my long hair and long beard. Let alone a girl, just loves to have a new doo! Also, I have been doing better with my depression, but not so good, and it will do my heart good to see him.

take care, bob

Much to give thanks about BLESSEDDAILY!

On this Thursday, I am thankful for
- not rolling over when the alarm went off and completing my circuit and stretching
- the first rays of the sun on the horizon as I headed to the office
- the warming temperatures
- my smoothie and oatmeal (and having a workplace that allows us to eat @ our desks)
- a plan to walk with my DH and pups after work
