Thankful for...

early morning quiet

just taking the next step when feeling overwhelmed

permission to "fail" and not falling into my normal "well I messed up anyway, I'll just start fresh tomorrow" - picking up the pieces and driving on.

Gratitude is the most exquisite form of courtesy.
-- Jacques Maritain

Good morning!

I realized that it's more important to "pop in" here for a short break than to "pop in" on FB (DUH)! It's the "courteous" thing to do for myself, don'cha think!!!

Deeply thankful this morning~~

~ sangha (community of kindred spirits)

~ morning oatmeal, with melting chocolate chips, roasted pumpkin seeds, and strawberry kefir

~ for a productive day yesterday, in spite of my whining about wanting to be outdoors

~ gathering with friends this afternoon to see a talented artist friend's current installation, and then catching a bite together

(don't see the amazing hangings for the show here unfortunately)

~ a fortunate life with countless opportunities for joy and fulfillment

Blessed be!

Saturday night gratitudes
* Girls' outing to the theater and seeing the BEST show - The Million Dollar Quartet - that totally surprised me with it's excitement and talent.
* The musical brilliance and abandon of Jerry Lee Lewis, despite poor choices in his personal life
* Freed up from comittment tonight after spilling coffee down the entire front of my blouse (I promise it was NOT intentional) AND they were over staffed as it was...
* The trees all full of spring green growth
* Flowers emerging from their sleepy beds
* Countdown to family's return from vacation has begun
* All of you....my spark rocks.

Steph. Sorry to make you follow a double bob yesterday! IAM1WEVRY1 thanks for the kind thoughts.

Today I am thankful for:

*a beautiful climbing rose, Zephrine Droughon. It has really bloomed incredibly this year, and so far has done well with blackspot- it is a Bourbon Type Rose very prone to black spot. It is one of the very few thorn less roses, and as such I have always had high hopes for it, but been disappointed until this year.

*reaquainting with the Jethro Tull album, Aqualung. I haven’t listened to it for some time, so listening again, and ‘wondering aloud’ with it was great.

*getting to the grocery and stocking up for the week. This will cut out a few eating out trips, and make for a healthier week.

*finding a new cultivar of Begonia I have never seen. Totally cool coloration, and doesn’t look like the standard forms at all.

*seeing a sweet young check-out girl at the health food store. I have always loved seeing her and chatting, but she’s been gone a while, and I figured she had moved on. She is anorexic and suffers from strong depression, but always has a smile for me, and my wife, which is returned from the big guy.

take care, bob

Thankful yesterday for...

- lunch dates w/ hubby. He has some leave left before he goes back to his day gig and enjoying the time with him.

- a "cheat" night yesterday and not beating myself up for it although feeling the pain after means my body has begun learning better and the scale was still kind this morning

Thankful today for...

- needing to yell at my DH to back off the freshly baked macaroons. His return from deployment has us celebrating Passover late and I love that he likes my cooking even as I swat his hands away

- fresh baked matza apple kugel done

-prep for matza ball soup (w/ homemade stock) done (and ready to assemble when I get back home from another commitment)

- brisket prepped and ready for oven

- the smell of home cooking in the house

- a busy but together weekend

Hey Bob - I'm following an icon too!!!!!! :-)

Today's gratitudes:

-My faithful 1996 Toyota Camry - almost 16 years old, 171,000 miles, and I'm delighted she's still with me EVEN IF I had to just put $1500 into her (I detest car payments and a Camry should go for many more miles)
-Friday, Friday, Friday
-R&R time, much-needed on the tootsies
-Giving my feet some air last night - I know it sounds crazy, but when you're wrapped in an ace bandage for days on end, the toes really crave some fresh air!!!! ROFLOL
-No plans for the weekend, so I can turn it into whatever I want, or whatever I can tolerate
-My smart phone that really freaked me out this week when I hit ONE BUTTON and said "Call Red Snapper Restaurant, Kansas City" - and it looked it right up and dialed it in about 10 seconds flat - WHOA!!!! - Pretty smart, if you ask me!!!
-Chai tea - headed that way now ...

Now how do I follow such an icon!!! Just have to jump in and go on, and on, and on,……..

Sorry all, for being away. I have been suffering from a bad case of Shaken Bobby Syndrome or SBS in the trade. Pretty damn out of it still, but trying to de-isolate a bit- one Bobby step at a time- actually I hate being called Bobby, but hey it works in the bad pun better.

Hope to be more active, but going to be a tough few months ahead, until after Spring.

Today I am thankful for:

*finding an old post that caught up a lot, so I can take it easy easing back in. Seriously, did cover a big low point, wanted to share.

*great buds checking in on me, giving me a connection to follow back to posting, soonerish than later.

*still doing well with my diet, though a tad off the wagon, at lunch, due to being down, and not catching the over-eating until late.

*great tunes from Netflix. I found a Jethro Tull concert from 2003, at the Montreux Jazz Festival, which had nice, eclectic selections from the catalog. Also one from Pearl Jam, there 20th Anniv. Vid. Good company while trying to stay focused.

*dealing with some prob. areas today, after pulling back from distractionville, a few times.

*weekend.

*less physical pain in most areas. My hands are improving, but still sore after a problem last Fri., that set them really back, and nose-dived my psyche.

*posting again, ie., if I get this on the site, and don’t zone out like the other post.

Happy Weekend to All! bob

Actually I’m not frickin’ sure when I wrote this, I think it was 4/11/12, but hey, when you are as behind as me any post in a storm, eh! So………

Sometime in the past I was thankful for:

*the No. 2 train leaving the station, and the caboose not getting stuck- hey I’m a guy. I am super happy that I haven’t gotten Diverticulitis this time, while taking pain pills. I have been overly judicious using them, due to their effect on my digestion- No. 2 train schedule- and am super pleased all is well in the ole colon- sorry for the tmi moment, but I am so thankful to not have to deal with something else.

*deciding to try and work on losing weight again. My joints / body is in so much pain, I simply must. Weight is the major factor to the problems, and would give the most relief. Some things are too far gone and will need surgery at some point, but losing weight make a big difference. Food is such a comfort, I felt I had to ease up on a few things, while dealing with the worsening depression last year, but I have no choice now.

*ordering a healthy breakfast at Waffle House. I knew what it was, but have been ordering a bit worse for comfort. The waitress had already started writing up my usual and looked at me like I was crazy for my order, but I just smiled and said I had to for my joints, and since she saw me hobble in, she seemed to get it.

*visit to Chiropractor yesterday. Not a great difference, but I like him a lot, and it was good to chat / joke around, and a few things adjusted, bit less pain in a couple of areas.

*staying functional while feeling so depressed.

*still invoicing.

*left about 1/3 of the chips at the Mexican restaurant today. Not great, but a 1/3 more left than usual. The rest of the meal is really healthy, but I usually eat too many chips- at least no salt- but still not needed.

take care, bob

Today, I have so much to be grateful for including, but by no means limited to:

-Being able to wiggle my toes again (I guess the swelling has now gone down enough) - ah, the simple things in life!!!! :-)
-Special kitten play this morning after morning treats, a fun daily tradition we're making
-Upper body strength training, which is all I am allowed to do right now
-Co-worker/exercise buddies
-The current work incentive program is about eating right, meaning I don't have to miss out on an exercise incentive program
-My company's involvement for the second year with CSA delivery here to my office (and a really good one that is more than produce - eggs, milk, honey, etc.)
-SparkPeople and all of its resources
-This amazing practice AND ESPECIALLY ALL OF YOU that share in it - you truly have NO idea of the impact (well, maybe you do because you probably get the same impact) LOL

* For SAFE travels.

the lesson that perfection is the enemy of the good and being more accepting (or intending to be) of the mistakes I make along the way.

time with DH and loving that after all these years, just being with him still makes my heart flutter

making peace with relationships I can't repair

On this gorgeous spring day, I am grateful for:

-EXCELLENT report from my doctor at 10-day post-op followup (I am NOW where I should be at 3-1/2 weeks when these post-op shoes come off) - Wooo Hooo!!!
-This incredible weather
-Learning how to cope with not being able to do things I want AND need to do for about a month (my yard has so much that needs to be done, but no can do right now)
-I guess that would be PRIORITIES - and I have them right, for which I'm VERY grateful
-Things at work slowing to a more normal pace (insert big sigh here)
-Being able to support a co-worker who lost her uncle AND her 14-year old dog in the span of 3 days
-Being able to walk faster in the post-op shoes (the hardest part was slowing down my pace)
-Good books; I'll take it over computer time most any day
-All of you here sharing in this incredible, life-changing, attitude-changing practice

Stephanie
