On day 4 of my spring FMD. It started hard, which has been unusual for me, but got a little easier again. I have a love/hate relationship with the weighing and measuring, but it must be done because calories are not the only issue. Longo says it can mess you up to use the wrong ratios. I do find the higher fat to help with hunger. They are always talking about protein, but protein is very low on this. He says it's not enough long term, but maybe two days a week would be good after I'm done. I'm thinking I could make these kinds of meals my defaults on a couple of modified fasting days a week. They are not as low as recommended, but since weight loss is not my goal, it might be fine. I know one of the doctors who recommended modified fasting every other day said after reaching a good weight, a person could eat another 250 calories (so about 750 caloriies) a day on the down day. I'm eating less than that four of the days because it's based on my weight. Yesterday, though I got hungry, it also felt like enough food. Its' interesting how I can get myself to tolerate hunger and wait to eat unprocessed or heavy foods when the reason is compelling. Then again, this is temporary,, so I'm not looking forward to a lifetime of this kind of stricture. I need something in between this and the disorder that had crept back into my eating, but also something between the old order that had worked and then stopped working.

Or something big enough on my life to take away all the attention this gets!

I am starting my quarterly fast-mimicking diet, self-styled but based on the macronutrient ratio and calorie limits of Valter Longo. I am not trying to lose weight but improve cell function and other health indicators. It's very engrossing. Not really the way I want to live! I lost all my weight without tracking and don't intend to do it permanently. (I learned a lot on WW and 40-30-30 and various other plans years ago and use those principles often for my meals. Fasting can allow for more freedom, but the older I get, the less I want to gamble on nutrition.)
