tHIS DAY WILL BE A CHALLENGE! My left knee won't support walking, so I have done 5 minutes - half enough - stretching and wall push-ups and pull-your-navel-to-your-backbone sorts of things, and will have to come back and do more later. I looked up Nicle's videos for the office, but she tends to do a lot of walking in place and things I just cannot do today.

sigh

But, way to go Minnie! You may be ahead of me again soon.

biked yesterday (or rather early this morning. today did 10+ minutes of fast walking and strength (and stretching). hoping to walk (snow permitting) and dance tomorrow.

Day 277. Logging in on my phone from the casino cause I didn't want to forget. Worked so bard at the gym that I am using a wheelchair rhis eve durn it did itv all after slacking for 2 weeks when all I did was walk about 30 min a day. Treadmill. Weight training. Machines. Swimming. Walki g. So now my knee screams when I walk. Hubbys b d is reason for sun nite outing. I won 6 bucks so am happy

Day 276 - I guess. I claim this day with less confidence than usual. I cleaned house this a.m., and guess scrubbing the kitchen floor might count as heavy cleaning, or vaccuuming this eve. When out sprinting through the shopping center, the DH said, "well we got our walk in today, even if it wasn't as strenuous as usual" and I guess I'll take that as true, because I was TIRED before we even finished. I also went up and down the stairs rather rapidly doing laundry and checking bath water at the same time, lol. Well, anyway, I have had exercise on my mind, today!

Hello you 10 minute fitness gurus! As exercise is truly my nemesis, and I know getting started is the biggest hurdle (at least for me), this group creates a commitment that actually seems possible. Today I am home recovering from the flu (no, I didn't get my flu shot so be forewarned). Seems to me like two 5 minute rounds on the elliptical is reasonable so that's my plan for the day. I am trying to redirect my oppositional nature in the direction of opposing my old habits. Woohoo! emoticon Am going to learn to love my ellipitical!

I need to do this. 10 minutes is not long enough to walk a dog, but at least my 'dogs' will be walkin'.

The computer is upstairs and the street is downstairs, guess where I am? Does anyone see the problem?

after all these years, i fell off. haven't exercised yet this week even though i'm feeling ok. insanely busy. several of us staarted with 10 minues. often once ou start, you keep going. it's starting that's hard. knowing you committed only to 10 makes it less intimidating and you squeee it in. i built ahabit (something 'm not good at-as you see from the fact that i did nothing this week after doing this for ears.
ok. enough, tomorrow i start again.

Ahh here is the joy! No special exercizes just commit to getting up and moving. The idea is 10 minutes about anybody can find - even me a homeschooling mom of 4 who is overwhelmed and stuck on a weight loss plateau! You are in the right place. Be encouraged. What you see is people who are sticking with it and finding out that they can do more than they thought.

MariMoms - it is absolutely a 10 min fitness challenge! and when I started, I worked hard to get in 10-11 minutes per day.

I claim today because I snuck a 10 min brisk walking break into my 7 hour marathon drive to and from a funeral. Most days, I get in more - but I can claim today as day 272 of this streak - and I might NOT have stopped to walk at a rest stop if I hadn't had this forum on my mind.

Day 270 - this day has been a real challenge. The nasal drainage is not yet gone, but the antibiotics are creating a kind of intestinal hell for me. Made phone calls, took a nap, still in pain. I thought about walking, and decided to put the energy to better use and vacuumed instead. There's a cardio record for that, so I'm claiming it as my exercise for the day. 20 minutes, and I am perspiring freely.

Day 269 - back at the gym, but rebuilding slowly. Swam laps for just 30 min. Still, I'm losing weight - sinus drainage and killer antibiotics really do stifle the appetite!

JOMAMA - hey, as Gia says, it starts w/ day 1. I don't even know how many times I've started over at Day 1 - but here are some things that have helped:

1 - Reporting here. Keeps me on my toes.

2 - having a plan plus a backup plan for exercise (I try to walk a mile as a morning work break, and a mile as an afternoon work break, and I belong to a health club, and now I also have a stationary bike at home. So if I miss my first and second opportunities to exercise, I usually can still work SOMETHING in.)

3 - prioritizing my own health and well-being - it is on the schedule at work, and my husband expects it at home. (Payoff of exercise has been BIG for me. My Doc says I've postponed diabetes indefinitely, and my meds have been reduced from $120/mo COPAY, to $16/mo at Walmart. That makes it easy to justify the health club!)

I decided to go ahead and claim the day even before my morning break, because I shoveled snow for at least 20 min. before work.

Day 4, Tues, Jan 18 - walked 30 minutes (stole 30 of my own) and did some wii fit (yoga and boxing) this morning. I "promised" my son that we'd go for a walk tonight.

Day 265 - got antibiotics for the bronchitis, and a codiene cough syrup which was supposed to help me sleep. I wish it worked!

But, I have stolen 30 minutes out of the day for walks today. Good, since I probably will not make it to the gym tom=night either. The worst is over, tho! I am on the mend.

Today is day 3 of my new streak.

Day 1, Sat, Jan 15 - 60 min wii fit and long walk with my son.
Day 2, Sun, Jan 16 - walking and wii fit (13 mins)
Day 3, Mon, Jan 17 - started couch to 5k program with my 8 year old son. I'm so proud of him, he wanted to quit, but he did it!!

Day 264 - well, thanks, feeling some better. Chocolate improves my MOOD, if nothing else, lol. I suspect this has settled in as bronchitis and pneumonia, and should probably bite the bullet and go to MD for prescription to help me kick it.

Meanwhile - it was above freezing (34!) for my Morning Mile at work. Took me a few minutes more than usual because I had to cross streets to find plowed areas.

Day 263 - still sick, sick sick with what must be the flu. And I took it to the mall. Walked as briskly as I could for over an hour indoors. Stopped at Godiva Chocolates as my reward. emoticon

Day 262 - thank you Gia - for recognizing my few minutes of PAIN when you put in over an hour exercising. I trust I will be back to a better pace soon. The walk that took me 14 minutes yesterday took 12 today.
