Thanks so much for all your posts this month, Latisha!

I have not been good about keeping up with posts here each week this month. It’s quiet here in the summer. I have been preoccupied lately with getting ready for a two week trip to Alaska. We leave home on Thursday to stay at a hotel in Orlando since we have an early morning flight Friday to Anchorage (by way of Seattle.) We will first be traveling inland for a week and then have a 7 day cruise. I am excited about the trip, but also very worried about leaving my dog, Sophie. We just found out this week that she has a mass on her liver. She has been sick with loose bowels and not eating some days for quite awhile, so we finally had more tests done after trying a change of food and medicine and nothing working. She is 12, so we are not putting her through surgery or chemo, so we are not getting the tumor biopsied. Instead we keep giving her medicine to make her as comfortable as possible for as long as she has left. It is heartbreaking to me! The past year has been very tough, losing my mom in December, my other dog, Max in January, and now Sophie! I’d appreciate everyone’s thoughts and prayers, if you see this. Thank you!

Happy Wednesday! I don't know about you, but my summer is so busy. I spend most of my days being a wife and mother, juggling working part-time, dropping off/picking up kids, shopping, planning stuff, entertaining, cooking, cleaning, taking boys to appointments, etc. Then, I sneak in some exercise, reading, writing, Sparking, and appointments for me. Where does the time go? I hope you're still working toward your weight loss goals. If you're not, it's not too late.

Barb, I had a Fitbit Zip as my first tracker! Unfortunately I was careless and it went through the washer when it was in my shorts' pocket!

Danae, I never heard of a miz fit. I'm glad it works well for you! Sounds like you have a lot of fun things planned with your family! I hope you are enjoying your summer with the kids so far!

Alice, I also had a Garmin vivofit and liked it but wanted to track my heart rate, so I got the Fitbit (I didn't think Garmin had the one you have now at the time I got my Versa a few years ago.)

I ended up getting an Apple watch - my dh has one and talked me into it. Still trying to get used to it!

I know summer is a busy time for everyone! I hope you all are enjoying your summer so far, eating fresh fruit and veggies and getting lots of fitness in!

Amy--I use a Fitbit Zip. It's kind of old school, but gets the basics across. An added plus--it fits in my pocket since I don't like wearing any "jewelry" type of things like watches. Just need to change the battery every now and then, there's nothing else to break.

Amy I don't like fitbits either. All the ones j one broke one me to after having them for three months. I have now miz fit from Amazon. It's one of those smart watches. I like them alot.

My plans for the summer is to do alot of activities with my kids while they are out of school. Going to parks, going on long drives. Going g to Glacier and do some camping. For the fourth got a bbq to go to at some friends house and tomarrow we have a family get together and a local river.

Hi Amy,

I haven't had good luck with fitbits, either. I had a Garmin vivofit for several years and it never gave me trouble, and now I have a Vivosmart HR and I love it. I've been reading that Garmins are build to last, unlike fitbits.

Good luck finding one you like!

Happy July! How is everyone's summer going so far? What plans do you have this month?

We were on a trip north for the second half of June - had to go earlier than expected to attend a memorial service for a good friend who died, but then we had a real nice time visiting friends and family in Pennsylvania, and then traveling to Maine, where we spent a few days in my favorite location (Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park) and then another few days visiting my good friend, Lisa at her summer home on a lake in southern Maine. Heading back south to Florida was a long trip by car, so we stayed at friends in PA for another couple days and then left for home Friday, getting back yesterday afternoon.

I am looking forward to being home all month and getting back to my normal routines. I am already back at the gym and taking Sophie out for an early morning walk before it gets too hot. I am glad to be back to eating home cooked low carb meals again also! I am proud of myself for only gaining one pound while away I ate off my program a little bit but not badly at all!

Last night my Fitbit died. Well, it was working but the prongs for charging broke, so I can't charge it. It feels so weird not to have it on my wrist, so I will be doing research on what to get next. It will not be a Fitbit because they all seem to have the same mechanism on the back.
