The same thing most know to do--portion control, drink lots of water, moving your body (exercise classes, walking--whatever you want/can do). I count calories and do journal everything I eat. Strength workouts builds muscle and muscle burns more calories.

Trust God, believe in yourself, and keep looking forward. You can't change the past. You are always special.

The exchange plan is fairly involved until you get to know it. There are 6 categories, and lists of foods and strict quantities in each one, many by weight. For example, I get two fruits a day, 6 oz (with skin) of orange=one fruit; 3 oz banana (with skin) = one fruit. And so on. Because I know it so well, I can look at a recipe and adjust to the right quantities to stay legal. Another old term. When I lost my weight, exercise wasn't even mentioned as a component of weight loss. I eat the same amount of food no matter what else I do, no eating more because I can exercise.

WW got away from exchanges because it's really hard to eat out (what is IN the food you get? even one teaspoon of extra oil throws it off), and because people wanted their treats. On the old plan, you have to make everything you eat. Also, cynic that I am, exchanges were designed by the American Diabetic Association so are public domain. WW could copyright Points. They can make more money that way. It's better for investors, but I don't know about clients. Lots of people are doing well with Points, others can kid themselves with Points the same way they can with calories.

I walk everywhere. I'll get in 7000 steps even on days when I don't leave the house. Head out to shop and it's a LOT more. Exercise is always good, but I can't rely on it as part of weight control.

I count exchanges, the old WW program. I also never eat between meals, and dessert is just a few times a year. I seldom eat out, maybe once a month. The exchange plan works best for those of us who cook. I have kept my weight off for many years this way.

For me it's the same thing that has worked all along: Planning, weighing and measuring, tracking every bite. I can't allow myself to eat nearly as much as I used to, but the technique is the same.
