Jane...I am glad you got together with lunch bunch. Sorry taxis are expensive and mass transit stinks. Same here. Cities here offer limited senior transportation at discount. I am lucky my city has taxi service. Bigger cities have mini bus that needs to be booked a long time in advance. Mass transit is getting better here. More buses and trains. Living in NY with great mass transit spoiled me.

Sharon...Good that you son has truck with plow and snow blower. I hope your weather warms up in Jan and snow melts.

Karen....41..a warm spell. I don't have smart tv and stream via roku. I never heard of Echo Show and looked it up. Nice that you can set alarm, listen to music, watch Amazon, video chat, etc. You can cut cable if you have computer wifi. I am thinking of buying a 10 inch tablet that is on sale to watch Netflix, Amazon, etc. The tablet has slot to plug it into tv so I can watch Spectrum on big screen.

Nasfkab....You are a day ahead of us.

I was very tired and went to bed early last night. Woke every 2-3 hours. I woke to terrible heartburn first time which was probably due to tea I drank before bedtime. I got up, had a frozen yogurt stick and went back to sleep. Second time was to go potty, which hasn't happened in a while. Third time was a telemarketer call before 8 am. A second telemarketing call came 15 minutes later. I answered the calls since I thought they could be from handicapped transport company. I ate breakfast, showered and packed lunch early, which was good since transport arrived a half hour early. Driver said they weren't busy. I didn't mind going to work early. Transport home showed up 1 1/2 hours early for same reason. I refused to leave work that early and made him wait an hour for me.

Sam's club auto answered phone this morning. They gave me first appointment for Friday at 9 am to install battery but I may go there tomorrow since I need food and found walking short distance today to be too much.

24 1/2 hours until 2020 in US. Jane and Nasfkab will ring in 2020 first.

Happy New Year. emoticon

Tee... That one dollar taxi ride was a bargain! I hope you get your battery replaced soon.

Sharon....I love that you like snow storms. Today we are getting up to 41.

My firestick will allow me to watch things from Amazon. I may decide to stream more & cut cable. My DD gave me an ECHO SHOW. I watched a mystery show last night. It is connected to Amazon but the screen is pretty small. I do not have a smart TV but my son says it will still work. We shall see.

Good morning. Well the storm is winding down. We had over a foot of snow and there are some 4 foot drifts out there and the wind is still blowing. Some of the interstates are still closed and flights are cancelled. My son was over last night and did some clean up and will be back later today. He wanted to make sure that Hailley could get out the back door. Too Nice. I walked 30 minutes yesterday and had a total of 5,193 steps for the day. I would like to have a week where I was in the 5,000 steps a day. I guess we will see. I sure hope we donít see a lot more snow for a while because we are getting to where we donít have any where to put the snow. A good January thaw is needed so the snow will settle. We still have a long time till spring, I always love a good storm but not when we already have so much snow on the ground. LOL. Sounds like we will now start getting back into the colder weather. I am ready for this winter to end.

Tee, I do have a snow blower. My son brings his pickup with a plow on the front to do the driveway and then uses the snow blower. It is hard when the drifts are so high in places.

Jane, fireplace or wood burning stove is not an option for me. House is too small and also the wood smoke is terrible for my copd. The kids would need to bring me a generator or something,

NASFKAB, it is good that your niece is will to fly to where you are to see you and let you see her little one.
I did not look to see where the candy was made. Glad you have good memories of it.

Sharon, good of you to feed the critters and make sure they have water.
Does someone know you have only one source of heat if there is an emergency? A wood stove or a fireplace that uses wood would be a wise backup.

Karen, sorry you missed church and have the aches and pains you do. Hope you enjoy the movie and perhaps find another one to watch.

Tee, I do hope you do not get a cyst, no fun.
I usually write my posts on a computer page, check things out including the spelling then copy and post. That way I donít loose things.
I hope you get the battery taken care of as I would hate to see you stuck someplace because the car would not run.
Glad you have a taxi and transport program where you live. Taxiís here are very expensive and the mass transit stinks!

I had the Christmas Lunch with the Monday Lunch Bunch today. It was nice. All but one showed up and she is off island visiting family and grands. We are down in number from a few years ago as we have lost a few. But that is to be expected.

Take care, stay dry and safe.

Jane

Jane...Glad your nose is better. MIne is too. Sorry you hip hurts. You may want to try YouTube hip stretching exercises I posted. Good Bless you for teaching church while dealing with pain. I only take thyroid medication unless congestion/sinuses are bad. I learned the hard way that not taking med for congestion/sinus led to sinus cyst and taking several rx meds for months. Best for me to nip it in the bud with Mucinex when necessary.

Sharon...A snow blower may be in order. My brother has his ready to go but it hasn't snowed enough in NY. I had cabin fever during NY winters. Good for you to fill bird bath, etc. Is there anyway you can post picture of the snow here? I would love to see it since I haven't seen snow in almost 15 years. Doesn't feel wintery without snow.

Nasfkab...Good your niece visits.

Karen...Sorry about IBS, arthritis pain and toothache. It is always something that usually strikes at the worst time....weekends, holiday, etc. Nice that it is warn in OH. Is Firestick you are waiting for from Amazon? I have roku that was easy to set up and allows me to watch Netflix, Amazon, and others.

I wish Spark had a save button bc I keep losing posts. Am I the only one that asks what day is it when I wake up? I didn't get battery. Sam's website is awful. No hours or depts. I phoned automotive hoping to hear hours and none. I was connected to customer service that informed me that dept was very busy and behind installing tires on sale. I kept called until 5 pm and no answer. So, I plan to go there before they open on the eve to see if I can get battery. If that doesn't work, maybe mechanic neighbor will install a battery for me.

I called handicapped transport for ride to/from work tomorrow. They were only able to give me ride to work and recommended calling later for ride home. I phoned in the afternoon and obtained reservation for ride home, but fear they may strand me like last time. Rep said no same day transport after booking ride home, which I take to mean if transport doesn't show, I have to find my own way home. Crossing my fingers this doesn't happen.

I took taxi to gym. Glad I did cause I needed to destress. I did water aerobics and swam laps. My city senior taxi service is great. Call them 10 minutes before leaving home and they show up. Drivers are nice too. Only problem is they don't go very far. One way trip to gym cost $14. I paid $1.

I didn't sleep much last night and tired. Going to watch tv and climb into bed early. Rain predicted for tomorrow.

Hi everyone
I would be lying if I said it has been a great day. My IBS woke me up & then the weather makes it a high arthritis pain day. Oh ya, I cant forget the tooth ache. That is a problem I plan to take care of shortly. I napped on the couch this afternoon.

Tonight is much better. I found a movie on TV called BLACK & WHITE so I will Spark during commercials. I am disappointed that I did not make it to church. This too shall pass.

I took the garbage out & it is a warm rainy day in Ohio. Got up to 61 today.

That's my day in a a big nutshell.

Good morning on the Sunday morning. We are in the second day of snowfall and the wind is picking up. It is a beautiful winter wonderland out there with lots of white snow and the lights reflecting off the snow light up the night. Today is supposed to be full on blizzard with very high winds and with the amount of snow we have already received it will be a good day to stay in and enjoy some quiet time. Yesterday I walked for 30 minutes and had a total of 4,620 steps for the day. I did get my garbage and recycles out to the bins and went out and filled all the birdfeeders and the bird bath with water. The birds and critters should all be happy now. Hailley didnít have a hard time this morning getting out because the wind must be blowing in a different way so it didnít block In the door yet. One of lifeís small pleasures. LOL. Hope you all have good Sunday.

Graygranny, , talk of yard work makes me so jealous. I would love to be out in the yard. You got a lot done and surprised you weren't tired.

Tee, hope you get that new battery. You don't need to get stuck somewhere. I am used to being stuck in the house at this time of the year. Son just called and said he would try to get here to clear things out before next round of snow today. It is supposed to be heavier today with the wind,.

Jane, only one source of heat here but will not worry until necessary.

My niece flies out to visit us since the baby was born, she will be 2 on February 22, they live in El Cerrito CA. No intention of going there. Reading about Godiva made my mouth water, when we lived in Bethesda, MD from 94-96 the girls worked there. Stay well all.

NASFKAB, I am sorry about your sister. Glad her children do contact you some and her daughter a little more.

Sharon, a blizzard sounds awful! Do stay warm and dry. I hope you have two sources of heat encase the blizzard knocks one of them out.

Thelma, I guess my old brain is playing tricks on me. Someone on a team I am on is/was in Missouri or at least that was what I understood. I had hoped to connect with her when there with my friend that I travel with in the states.
Sounds like you had a really productive day. Energy seems to come and go with us all.

Tee, the nose is better today. I use a few meds as I can and I think listening to your ent is a good idea.
Sorry your nose got congested overnight.
Hope your car does not give you problems before you get a new battery. Taking a taxi to the gym may be a good idea.

I had church today and taught the Childrenís Church class.
I also took a large box of Godiva chocolates to church and shared them. My family gave them to me at Christmas and I tried to decline until one of my granddaughters said take the and share them at your church. I told her it was a great idea.
I find my hip hurts when I have to move my leg a lot like putting on the brake when driving. Once it starts hurting it just hurts unless I lie down.

Do be safe everyone.

Jane...Glad your hip is better. Sorry about nasal congestion. My nose was clear when I went to bed with cpap and congested when I woke. This happens a lot when I use cpap. Pulmonologist instructed cpap patients to use Nasacort spray nightly before using cpap, but my ent recommends not using it.

Nasfkab....Sorry your bil isn't interested in staying in touch. Sounds like your niece is interested in seeing you. Do you think you will fly there to see them in the future?

Sharon...Blizzard....Yikes! Good that Tina got groceries. Stay warm.

Thelma...Good that weather was warmer and you spent day outdoors. I don't know where you get the energy to do all that work. Glad you have firewood.

I was in bed at 11pm last night. A first for me. I only watched 10 minutes of Netflix on my tablet since my eyes wouldn't stay open. I woke at 8 am with stuffy nose. Took liquid Mucinex which cleared nose.

It was a busy day for me. Left house early to do errands. My car had trouble starting at last store. I am glad I made it home. I am sure car needs new battery since almost 6 yrs old. it's my fault. I knew battery was old and was going to make appointment to have replaced after Xmas but Sam's auto had long line and I could stand on painful leg. I looked at auto stores to see if they have battery to install tomorrow. They didn't have any. Searched to see if Sam's club auto is open tomorrow. Couldn't find information but pretty sure that dept is closed on Sunday. That means I have to go to Sam on Monday morning to get battery before going to work. It's always something.

I may take taxi to gym tomorrow to swim since I can't stand being cooped up in apt.

Jane, have lived in Md all my life. When we got married I moved 30 minutes to the east and still close to the river.
Today was sunny & semi-warm so I stayed outside ALL day...I will be couped up soon enough with the frigid cold. We got firewood in, cut down a tree and cut up and stacked. Then I took the pruners and went around edge of yard and got rid of some small branches that hit me in face when I mow yard. Then I snipped some briers at edge of yard....I got them but some got me too. Thorn bushes I took out also.....did all that then supper & dishes....can't believe I am not any more tired than any other time. I get spurts of energy but sometimes I am tired when I get up...just happy that a day like today I had energy.

Good morning. Here it is the weekend and it is snowing. It wasnít supposed to start till this afternoon but wow is it coming down. We are supposed to get up to 16 inches of wet snow and tomorrow the wind will come up along with the snow so it will be blizzard conditions through Monday, Doesnít sound good to me. I am glad that Tina got groceries for me yesterday. I got 20 minutes of walking yesterday and only 3,896 steps. It was a bad breathing day so didnít get much done. Today needs to be a better day. I will try do an exercise video to get a little more upper body exercise. Hope you all have a great weekend,.

No problem Thelma, used to go to Akron OH whenever I was in US till 2009 when my sister left us, not close to her husband & he does not seem interested in keeping up with us, her children message me sporadically while my niece mailed me last week as she wanted to know when I visit US next. Stay well all.

NASFKAB, my friend and I visited a friend of hers in MD a few years ago. We say Washington DC at that time.

Stay safe and warm Sharon, a blizzard does not sound good.

Thelma, having the arm freeze up sounds scary.
Glad you have not lost your Fitbit. I do not like it when they change things so they really are no longer usable.
I thought you were in Missouri. Have you moved in the last few years? Have you walked with the group that crosses MD? I think that would be fun.
Where do you get your energy.

Tee, I put the frozen berries in my oatmeal with a little honey. I do not really care for smoothies. I guess I did somethings yesterday but not much.
Sounds like your shoulder is healing and that is good.
Sorry about the run around trying to get the medical documents.

The hip has been better today.
I woke up this morning with my nose so congested that I had to take the bipap machine off and blow it so I could breath.
I did get groceries today and picked up some tissues because I used up the other boxes a few weeks ago.

Stay warm and dry ladies.

Jane....Bill paying, lunch and shopping for frozen fruit is doing something. Do you make smoothie with frozen fruit?

Sharon...Good to read you back is better and sil shoveled. Sorry about the snow and long winter.

Thelma...Your third Fitbit. You are lucky you didn't lose it. I don't want or need new stuff on tracker and can turn off. Last thing I want is a notice while swimming. I hope all the work you did doesn't cause pain later on. Lady in the gym wore fitbit like ankle bracelet. My son suggested I do the same, but my ankles are too big for tracker to fit.

The only time I had palps is when I took synthetic thyroid medication. I take new thyroid medication the way doctor prescribed. Started with one tablet daily for a week. Then, switch to two tablets daily. She told me to fool around with when to take the pills and see how I feel. Taking one pill in the morning and other in afternoon cause pain, stomach ache, sleepiness, breathlessness, etc. I took both tablets upon waking today and no pain, etc.

I swam laps for the first time since I injured my shoulder 9 months ago. I took it slow. Started with running in pool, using swim board, then laps and backstroke. Nothing hurts, but this may be premature.

I phoned imaging to request test cd to take to different facility that will do test in Jan. Woman said I had to go there and sign release. Then, she said it could be mailed to me if she forwarded my call to medical records. Medical records said they only supply written results, not image and transferred me to imaging archives. Archives told me I had to go to LA (1 1/2 hours away) sign release and they would give me cd. So, I phoned local imaging where I had test done and will go there to sign release and pick up cd next week. Would have been nice if I could have tracked steps for this run around.

I am tired and going to climb into bed and watch Netflix on my tablet. Night!

Oh forgive me NASFKAB....I misunderstood.....or rather did not pay attention very well....If you traveled to NY then likely took 95.....if to Ohio then perhaps the Pa turnpike....both not very far from my home
I did not get as much as I would have liked today.....was not as warm as yesterday so did not do as much as I wanted but did complete cleaning vehicle....then came in and got a woodstove fire going to warm my bones. Suppose to be sunnier and warmer tomorrow. We are to fill up wood rack as it is to get colder next week.....I read where it was -65 up in Alaska and that cold is what will be making it's way south.....I don't think I have enough blankets!!

Today would have been my Mom's birthday...she would have been 99...Happy Birthday Mom!

Tee, after my rotator cuff surgery I was to dangle and sort of make a small circle so as to not freeze up. DS had her arm to freeze up 2X's now....they told her after they put her out to pull on it that it sounded like a gun shot when they did it....HOLY MOLY!! I have had a Fitbit for years...in fact I think I am on the 3rd one now....I have the Zip and told they no longer make them which makes me very sad since I really don't need all those extra's on other Fitbit's....no Smartphone so don't need anything but what I have....and yes I put mine inside my sock so as to get accurate steps....I have checked what I have walked with pedometer on vehicle and is right on the money. I no longer slip it over sock but down inside so as to not lose it....found it lying on the floor a couple of times...lucky me!...before I realized if I were not inside my house and out in public I would have lost it for good. Please be careful of the thyroid meds Tee...too much will cause your heart to race...some even have heart attacks when taking too much.
Sharon....I actually shiver when I read about your weather....DH just said this morning that with this mild weather upon us now....in the 50's that we will pay for it....I told him to stop talking like that!!!
NASFKAB....enjoy the mild weather in Md....should be warmer where you are than it is here in the mountains....but I understand it will not last long....flurries Monday. I think you asked once where in Md I was....looking at the western part where the smallest part of Md is bordered by Pa & WV is where I live...it is the shortest distance of Md...there is 1.8 miles from WV to Pa driving thru Md. Once a year the local Dr had a Walk Across Md event....the participants started at the Pa line and walked south thru town to the Potomac River....actually Md line ends on the other side of the river but no one wanted to swim....LOL
I have done laundry, dishes, remade beds with fresh linens and will now go out to finish cleaning up vehicle I started yesterday while nice....not sure what I will do after that
Have a lovely day ladies

Good morning. Well, my son-in-law was over and shoveled the snow for me so that is done again but we have a blizzard warning in effect on Saturday through Monday so some nasty weather ahead of us. They havenít predicted how much snow yet but hope it isnít too much. I am already tired of the snow and would like to see some green grass again. It has been a hard winter already. Yesterday I did 30 minutes of walking and had 4,349 total steps for the day. I didnít do anything but walk and my back is better today so that is good. I will try do a few small things today. I feel energized so I will take advantage of it while it lasts. LOL. Hope your day is good today.

Sharon, that you got over 3,000 steps in when your oxygen ran out is great. Glad you got home safely.

NASFKAB, good to see you are hanging in there.

Thelma, since I am away for a few weeks in the summer I have never gotten a lot in my streaks.
I wish I had a better means to see the eclipse. We had one several years ago and I used the paper with a hole.
Sorry your GD and her DH tended to spoil the get together. Good that you stood up to their shenanigans.
Glad your nephews surgery went well and that they are starting him on PT already.
Sorry about your brother. Praying his surgery will go well.
Sorry you lost the steps because you forgot your fitbit.

Tee, the news today said there was a lot of damage in the Philippines along with the loss of several lives. It is a blessing that my friends are fine as well as their church body.
Sorry about the handyman not showing and turning off the water without notice.
I am so sorry you are having trouble with your thyroid and trying to get things regulated. Wish there was a magic button.
Soup sounds good.

I paid a bill today, had lunch and got some frozen fruit from our local place that sells large quanity items.
I did not do much else.

Stay safe ladies.

Jane...Good the typhoon didn't cause damage. I am jealous you saw eclipse. I never saw one.

Sharon...Glad your dinner and gathering was good. Sorry about your breathing problem. Thank goodness you daughter took you home.

Nasfkab...Quiet is good especially in this noisy world.

Thelma...I am glad your meal was okay. Sorry GD and her hubby weren't getting alone. Good that you put your foot down so they didn't ruin the day. I am glad your nephew's surgery went well and pain medication working. PT tomorrow. WOW! He will probably just dangle his arm. I read that if arm isn't dangled it freezes and increases pain. I pray your brother's surgery goes well too. Did you get Fitbit for Xmas? A woman at my gym wore hers on her ankle so steps were accurate.

I phoned credit card company this morning since their website and phone didn't work yesterday. They added my information manually and bill paid.

Apt manager put note on my door yesterday that handyman was coming at 8 am today to inspect each apt for leaks. I couldn't sleep last night and woke at 9 am. Water parts in my apt were replaced. So, there was no reason for him to come to my apt first thing. He did turn off the water without notifying me. I had to wait until water was turned on to shower and leave for work. My apt was never inspected.

My brother phoned today. We had nice conversation. Then, my DS called to see if we could meet for lunch and exchange gifts. I told him I was leaving for work and would try to get all of us together for lunch/exchange.

My shoulder, wrist and lower back ache after taking new thyroid medication. They ache more when I take two pills. I only took one pill today and couldn't stay awake this afternoon.

It 40 degrees here. No rain, but cold and windy. My apt was so cold when I got home, my body couldn't warm up. So, I had soup for dinner.

NASFKAB...in what part of Md are you visiting?
Sorry for the loss of the streak...I did that once when I had nearly 2 yrs going....upset me at the time but it was not the end of the world so don't let it upset me when I do that any more...but I understand how you feel.
Wonderful Jane you got to see the eclipse....I tried that paper thing on one of the ones we had but it wasn't working for me...put on Dh's welding helmet....it was hard to focus until he told me how to try to find.
Christmas meal went fine but GD & her DH were not exactly on friendly terms with each other...I hated to but reminded her she was in my house and it was Christmas so refrain from making others miserable along with herself.....she is likely not so happy with me but right now I am not caring so very much.
Nephew's surgery went well....he called me this evening and sounded well. The pain meds they gave him likely will work up till 6 am tomorrow....and get this!!! he is scheduled for PT tomorrow.....oh dear!
My brother is to have his surgery Jan 15th as of now. He had a sugar low at the Christmas meal before it was served....then slept best part of afternoon since the lows pretty much zap him
I forgot to put Fitbit on today and I had a lot of steps to record since I washed and cleaned vehicle this afternoon when it got decent enough to go outside to do so.

Well, the big day is over and now we can sit back and relax until next week with New Years. I donít do much for New years. It has been a long time since I have made it till the ball drops so donít even watch. I like to just kick back and watch taped shows and catch up on the taped shows. We had a nasty layer of ice on the sidewalks and roads yesterday and then it snowed a little over an inch last night so it is dangerous walking out there. We might get a storm coming in over the weekend. Yesterday was great. I didnít do well with steps but did walk for 20 minutes and had 3,772 total steps for the day,. I ran out of air while at my daughters and thank goodness it was time to leave anyway so we left and I got home okay. Dinner was so good. There was so much food and it all was so good. Hope you all had a great day.

Sharon, glad your doctorís appointment went well.

Karen, sorry you lost your streak. I always loose mine when I travel.
How delightful that your GD made a book for her mom. Really nice that she got an A for the project.
I agree with you that I have gotten the best gift of all when I received Jesus as my saviour. He is so precious. Spending time with family is the next best gift.

Tee, I hope your doctors get things figured out.
It is so frustrating with the banks mess up our credit cards and we donít know what is going on.
Hope you get with your family soon.

My friends who are missionaries in the Philippines had a typhoon Christmas Eve. No real damage but a lot of water to clean up. We had a lot of wind several days ago and that must have triggered the typhoon.
I have not done much today. This afternoon we had a solar eclipse but the moon did not completely cover the sun. So it was called a ring of fire. I poked a small hole in a lightweight cardboard, turned my back on the sun and moon and saw the eclipse on my car. During the complete eclipse the moon was a black spot surrounded by a bright light and the sky was dark for the time of day. This will not happen here again for about thirty years. It has been a beautilful almost cloudless day.

Jane...Glad you had a nice time with extended family and watching children open their presents.

Sharon...Good to hear mole appointment went well. Hope your salads are a hit.

Nasfkab...Thanks for the wishes. Hope you had a nice day.

Karen...Sorry you lost Spark streak. Wonderful about DD special book. Good that you enjoyed chinese dinner with family.

I didn't do much today. Got up early to start pot roast. I think my crockpot is going. PR has been cooking for 8 hours. It usually takes 5 hours. I did laundry while dinner cook. Handyman is coming early in the morning to look for water leak. I work tomorrow and washed my hair in case he turns off water.

Gastro office phoned yesterday to let me know doctor ordered test. I need to get cd of last years test to bring to radiologist to compare before making test appointment.

I received email that bank blocked my credit card payment. They blocked an internet charge too. I don't know what is going on but will get to bottom of it tomorrow so I don't get a late fee.

My youngest DD sent me picture of GD opening a present I sent directly to her. Still no word as to when kids/grands will get together. So, I will take reigns and try arranging meeting.

It was cloudy and windy day. Rain tonight into tomorrow.

MERRY CHRISTMAS FRIENDS

I read all posts. Lots going on. Nas...knowing others have difficulty wearing glasses with hearing aid helps me to not feel alone.

I got so busy yesterday that I forgot to check into Spark & lost my 300 plus streak.

Last night was party time at my daughters. The highlight of the night was seeing my DD receive her special person book from her granddaughter. Darian worked so hard to make the book & was looking forward to seeing happy tears from Grandma Tracey. She was not disappointed. BTW Darian got an A on her project.

Today we went for a Chinese dinner. I received so many gifts but nothing is more precious than time together with family & friends.

Hope you all had a most blessed day as we celebrate the birth of our savior Jesus.

Good morning and to all who celebrate this day have a very Merry one. We will get some snow tonight and maybe some icy drizzle first. I hope we donít get the drizzle. Yesterday was one of those days. I had my doctors appointment at 9:30 and everything is good so relief there. I then came home and made my salads for today and got some recycles out to the bin. My back was really bothering me by then so decided a nap was a good idea. I had a total of 3,212 steps for the day so not too good but much better than nothing. Today I hope to do better. I will be at my daughters with all the family today so that will be nice. Enjoy the day.

Thelma, to have unexpected people added to the list can be frustrating. I hope they brought something to contribute to the pot.
Glad you saw your brother and he is looking well. Do keep us abreast of his surgery and recovery.
Hope your nephewís surgeries go well. I hope your nephew has a high pain tolerance so he will need little medication.

NASFKAB, yes I was asleep at 1:45 a.m.

Sharon, I hope the mole is not a problem. Sorry your breathing was not so good.

Tee, thank you for your well wishes.
Sounds like you were busy cleaning and decluttering. Good for you.
Great that you have communicated with family and friends. Reaching out to others is good for all.

I got to the hotel about 10:00 a.m. this morning so I could watch the children open their gifts. The adults draw names of the children and fill the wish lists the children have filled out. They have done this for a few years so eveyone is included but the adults do not need to buy for all the children in the extended family. We had about 50 people there and probably half of them were the children as this includes the young college students down to the youngest. Of course my GGD made out like a bandit.

Well wishing you stateside a wonderful Chrismas day.

Jane...One stop shopping. Great. Glad you had dinner and opened presents with family. Big bag will be handy when you travel. Enjoy time with extended family.

Thelma....Sorry your back and arm is acting up. I am glad you saw your brother and nephew. Hope whatever you made for extra guest was fast and easy so you could rest.

Nasfkab....Right now it is Christmas Eve on west coast and Christmas Day on east coast.

Sharon....I hope appointment for mole went well and your breathing and back improve so you can make salads.

I had a very productive day. It was sunny and 60 when I woke. I had a lot of energy and decluttered linen closet. I love opening the linen closet doors to look in since it is so neat. Took 8 bags to thrift store. I gave away two sets of bath towels I have had for years and never used. Got rid of recycles, vacuumed, dusted and washed floors.

I phoned my cousin that is a year older than me. He is a vet that lost his parents and siblings and shared a house with my dad. He has copd and underwent two surgeries. He has no one to spend the holiday with and said my call was the best Xmas present he ever received.

I phoned battered women I mentored next. She was going out to eat and will phone me tomorrow.

I made my family's Christmas Eve fish dinner and watching It's a Wonderful Life now. I will get up early tomorrow to start pot roast in crockpot and do more chores. I work on Thursday.

Wishing all a wonderful Christmas surrounded by loved ones. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

Good morning. Today will be a grey day and a little cooler. We have snow moving in tonight. I have a doctors appointment to have a mole on my back checked out this morning so need to get ready for that. Yesterday was not a good day but that is okay. It hasnít been so bad for a while now so donít feel too bad about it and do feel better today. I only was able to walk for 10 minutes and had 3,096 total steps for the day. Breathing was bad but back was sore so did end up taking a muscle relaxer and pain pill at bedtime. Hope that did the trick. I will make my salads today so the flavors can blend by tomorrow. Hope you all have a great Christmas eve or are with friends or family.

Good morning everyone....want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas in case I do not get a chance tomorrow...looks like it will be a busy one...just got a call telling me my GD, her DH and their 3 girls will be joining us for tomorrows meal.....need to make more of something....still pondering what the heck that will be...back has been giving me a fit at nights in trying to get things together and my arm is doing a number also...GEEZ!!
Jane, so sorry did not think to wish you a Merry Christmas since you celebrate it a day before us.
Meet with family the other night to put wreaths on parents & brothers grave....my nephew arrived with his Dad!!! My brother that has tumor on brain. HE LOOKED WELL! He said he was feeling better each day.....thank you God!! I asked him what his plans were...he said mid Jan. he will return to Pittsburgh, Pa to have tumor removed. Nephew told me likely he will be there several weeks afterward and will need rehab for perhaps speech and maybe walk...just don't know exactly what will need yet......I just CAN'T see him in rehab in a nursing home...if he can speak it may get ugly if he does not get his way... emoticon we will just have to wait to see how things go. Nephew now after hernia surgery on Tues. will have surgery for a torn bicep....that will be a long and painful recovery.....my heart goes out to him! He has taken in his son after getting him to rehab for drug recovery so he wants as little of any pain meds in the house
Gotta get my hiney to moving here.....I love ya all!!!! MERRY CHRISTMAS!! emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

NASFKAB, sorry you have traffic jams. Sometimes I think that only happens in the states but I guess it happens all over.

Sharon, you did a lot. Good for you.

Tee, sorry about all the rain. Hope most of it sinks into the ground and lakes. Glad your bathing suit arrived.

I slept better last night but got a call about 4:30 this morning from my cousin in Washington. She wanted to tell me Merry Christmas. We chatted for awhile. It was good to hear from her.

My back stopped hurting during the night so I got out and got my GGD some Eric Carl books. I also got gift certificates from the bookstore for the rest of the family. So I went to one store and came home with something for my GG, the grands and my son and DIL.
I got a call around five to go over and have dinner at my sonís. My DIL did the calling. I went and had a great dinner and then gifts were opened. My GG got the most gifts. She was happy with the books and went on to open other things.
I was given a lovely purse that is really big but I can use it when I travel. I was also given a big box of Godiva chocolates. I tried to say no and my GD said, take it to your church. Now to stay out of it until SundayÖ
I will join the family at a hotel tomorrow and see all the extended family then.

Merry Christmas to all! Have a great day.

Jane

Jane...Sorry you had trouble falling back to sleep and hope you found book for GGD.

Nasfkab...Sorry about traffic jams.

Sharon...Potato soup and rye bread sounds delicious.

It rained cats and dogs until this morning. The rain was so hard the gutters couldn't handle it. Woke to dry spell. Lighter rain by lunchtime. Thanks Mother Nature for the free car wash.

I waited for gastro to call about ordering test. When he didn't phone, I went out. Bed and Bath was my first stop. They sell CBD pillow spray and other products. Weighted blankets for adults, children and dogs were a big seller. They were out of kitchen window curtains. So, I sat in a massage chair. The rolling, pounding, etc felt good on my back and calves. Lightning and rain while driving to other stores. Parking lots were full. Stores weren't.

The bathing suit I ordered from New Jersey arrived today. I mailed 30 Xmas cards and received few. No card from my brother which is strange.

I will stay home and clean tomorrow. I can't find a thing in my messy linen closet. So, it will be the first thing I tackle.

Merry Christmas! emoticon

Good morning. It will start to cool down a little today but not too bad. We are now in count down mode with Christmas just a couple days away. I will boil my eggs and get some of the stuff ready for my salads today. Yesterday was a little tougher day but I still got 30 minutes walking with a total of 5,121 steps for the day,. I made some potato soup to go along with my rye bread and it was so good. I did watch some tv and read some and took it a little easier for the day. Hope this is a good week. Enjoy your Monday.

Sharon, I did not realize that pumpernickel bread was made from rye flour. One of my favorite breads.
Congratulations on your 6,000 plus steps! You are doing great!
Glad you will be with Tina and family for Christmas.

NASFKAB, I understand about driving for a long time to swim. My drive would be over six miles to get to the public pool.

Thelma, getting a rash from the chemicals when swimming is no fun.
Oreoís for next Christmas? Now there is a thought.
Glad the weather warmed up for your outing.

Tee, sounds like the thyroid medication is working for you. Great!
I am sorry about your friendís DH. Tough this time of year.
Thank you for the exercise videos. I hope they can help with the backache I have had all day.

I have not done much today. I woke up late for me, 8:40 a.m. because I had trouble going back to sleep after using the toilet last night. A am usually awake at 6:00 a.m. and take my thryroid med.
I really want to get to the book store and get my GGD some books. The others are old enough to understandÖ

PTs Bob and Brad's exercises: They are very popular on YouTube. I do the leg stretches in arthritis pool class and table stretches in locker room after swimming. If you subscribe to their channel a list of all their exercises will appear.

Jane...Nice that you were able to sing with your class in two languages. Medical issues are draining. I am sure your family will understand you not giving presents. I will post exercise videos separately.

Sharon....Congratulations on over 6,000 steps. You were moving girl. Your pork chop, potatoes and bread dinner sound delicious.

Nasfkab...Sorry some hearing aids are tough. My friends tried and returned them. Sorry pool is too far away for you to use.

Thelma...I overate when time changed. Took a week or two to subside. Sorry you don't have pool to go to. I wouldn't move without pool exercises. I can't use ladder. My gym has low steps and chair lift. Public pools have to have a pool chair lift. We are lighter in water and heavier on land. I am glad your back feels better and hope you found new battery for fitbit. BTW, Google bought Fitbit.

Doctor's prescribe Metformin for weight loss under insulin resistance. There isn't an accurate test for IR. The diagnosis guidelines are if a person has three out of five things on list: overweight, high cholesterol, high triglycerides, large waistline, hypertension and high glucose. Hormonal imbalance(s) also cause these conditions.

I started new thyroid medication today. More energy, calmer, less appetite, etc. I went to other gym to swim. I forgot how much I like this adult gym. It was quiet and water warm. I had an entire lane to myself. Stopped at grocery afterwards and bought pot roast for half price. So I am a happy camper.

My friend's hubby passed away in the middle of the night. He had diabetes, dementia and several minor surgeries. He was out of it at uncle's funeral. I feel sorry for my friend since the house will be empty with both men gone.

It was sunny and windy during the day. Drizzled at dinnertime. Raining buckets now.

I wish we had a place near by to go swimming....I did enjoy our pool in the summer months until the chemicals used would break me out into a burning rash....and then I had trouble getting out of the pool by ladder.....no trouble until body came out of the water then was like someone hung an anvil on my butt....oh yeah...it WAS my butt pulling me down emoticon emoticon
Back feels better today...I did stop yesterday in cleaning when back started to act up again. Made up another batch of cookies this morning but will wait until tomorrow to bake. I told DH cookies for Christmas next year....OREO'S
Will meet in a few hours to put wreaths on graves with some family members...it is a nice and warmer day than it has been this past week...44 now and to get dangerously close to mid 50's. I need to get out of this house anyway...I have done nothing but shove food in my mouth all morning....What is up with that?? Keep it up and will have to go buy some more pants to fit.
Got a notice from Fitbit when got online that my battery was low so gotta go digging to see if I have any here at home to use.
Everyone have a lovely Sunday....(((HUGS)) to all!

Tee I need the aids but I find there are some I can hear listen to easily but others are tough to fathom, we do not have access to a good swimming pool & at 77 its hard to sit in a car car for a long time in traffic. All the best to all.

Good morning. It will be another lovely day with temps in the 30ís. I will take every one we get. Our days will now start to get longer and the winter will start to fade into the past. I am already looking forward to spring and getting back outside. We usually have a lovely January thaw where temps get in the 40ís and I am looking forward to that. Yesterday was a good day with 30 minutes of walking and 6,076 total steps for the day. I did make it into the 6,000 numbers and that sure feels good. I baked a loaf of dark pumpernickel bread and made some great baked pork chops and potatoes au gratin. It was so good and kept me moving during the day. I also got the recycles and garbage out to the bins. I hope that I can have as good a day today. Enjoy your Sunday.

Nas, Rye is a grain like wheat and is used in rye breads and pumpernickel bread with caraway seeds and is one of my favorites

Tee, yes I will go to Tina's for Christmas. Looking forward to it.

Guamís shortest days are every odd day from December 15 - 29, 2019. The are 11 hours and 19 minutes long. Go figureÖ

NASFKAB, sorry your glasses interfere with your hearing aids.

Thelma, my feeling about meds is get my body so I do not need them. That will not be the case with thyroid medicine as my body does not produce what I need and has not for years. People using something like Metformin for weight loss bothers me.
Sign language like any foreign language takes work and practice to learn and retain. What frustrates me is when I first started learning sign language I was taught to sign English. The deaf do not use exact English when talking. In the í70ís a group of hearing teachers wanted the children to do better in school and thought if they learned SEE (Signing Exact English), their grades would improve. They found that was not the case and the deaf were not happy. There are also deaf who use a lot of slang. So now you have a 75 year old lady who wants to communicate but gets very mixed up. They are very patient with me.
Glad you and your brother have a sense of humor regarding his dog.
Hope you back is better.
I hope your family goes together to lay the wreaths to give each other support. That can be a hard time.
Mineral oil in the ear sounds okay. DO NOT put essential oils in the ear! Most say this in the directions.

Sharon, sounds like you have things planned out so your Christmas should be good.

Tee, glad your hearing problem was clogged nose and over now.
Hope you find your pot roast.
Can you post the videos to help relieve pain.
I am so sorry to hear about your friend. I will pray for comfort for her.

Guamís shortest days are every odd day from December 15 - 29, 2019. They are 11 hours and 19 minutes long. Go figureÖ It does change every year so we will see what happens next year.

We have a few people working at learning sign language in my church now. One mother is having her daughters learn songs with her.
Today I had my class sing Oh, Come All Ye Faithful in English and Chamorro. Chamorro will die if it is not used. I know a couple of songs and a few words and hope my trying will encourage others to keep the language alive.
I have not gotten any presents for others yet and am not sure if I will as it is such a short time before Christmas Day. Getting sick and dealing with doctor appointments has drained me. I just called my son to confirm when and where the family get together will be and found they changed the venue from last year.

Hope you all are not getting stressed as we near Christmas Day.

Jane

Jane...I noticed deaf people sign fast too. Good that you attend devotion, meal, fellowship and understood recipe. My thyroid doctor takes Metformin for weight control. Diabetes medication is used off label for this. Neurontin that is seizure medication is use off label for nerve pain. I took Met for a while, gained weight and no diarrhea.

Nasfkab...Sorry you need to wear hearing aids. I had terrible time hearing patients last week and thought I needed hearing aids. Turned out it was just clogged nose. Clear now and hearing returned.

Thelma....My parents put warm mineral oil in ear to cure earache. It worked. I swam with a man that used oxygen. He placed tank on deck in middle of lane and swam back and forth. I am not crazy about changing doctors and stayed with duds way too long. I had to find a few new doctors when mine died. New doctors turned were better than old ones. I am sure the cemeteries will look beautiful when decorate. 50 degrees there on Xmas. Same temp as CA.

Sharon...Great that you have all the ingredients for salads and bread. Are you going to Tina's house for Christmas?

I have eaten the same breakfast and lunch veggies for years. I think eating zucchini noodles two nights in a row did me in.

I had relaxing day. I slept in and went out in the afternoon. Schedules (work, gym classes, appointments, etc) seem to stress me out. PIcked up new thyroid medication. Pharmacy filled 180 tablets. I told pharmacist I didn't want that many since unsure med would work. She said she takes it and it works. Talked me into buying 180 since price will triple in Jan due to deductible. I will start taking tomorrow.

I went to several grocery stores for pot roast. Didn't find any and will try another store tomorrow. I don't like ham. Turkey is out. My neighbors like my crockpot pot roast and one pot meal is up my alley.

I had terrible leg pain at last store. I am sure it was from walking and standing a lot. I had to lean on shopping cart to get to car. I watched YouTube videos about the pain that showed exercises to do to relieve it I did them and pain gone.

A good friend was told her hubby only has days to live. She just lost an uncle that she took care of for many years. My heart aches for this woman. She is a very generous and loving person.

Our 70 degree weather is being replaced with cold, wind and rain today. I think I am going swim at different gym today since heavier rain predicted on Monday.

Blessed Sunday to all.

Good morning. It is going to be a great day today. It will be sunny, no wind and in the 30ís. I canít ask for more than that. Yesterday was a good day with 30 minutes of walking and a total of 5,200 steps for the day. I didnít do much of anything but small chores around the house. Tina got groceries for me so I didnít have to go out. I have everything now to make the salads for Christmas dinner and will start that on Monday. I have several things I would like to do today so hope that I can get them done. I do want to make some rye bread. Hope you have a great day.

Tee and Jane...I am not happy with Dr that replaced the one I had...trying to get used to her as I really don't wanna go thru all that stuff in changing to another Dr. I am confused on the Metformin recommendations myself....hmmmm think my sis is or was on it will have to check with her if the Dr took her off of it and why..I find the sign language interesting but don't understand it myself
My brother had long hoses to oxygen....placed tank in hallway and he could go anywhere in house. I remember once when staying with him he thought it was not working properly and asked me to bring a small glass of water to him as he lay across the bed....he placed hose into water and it did bubble so was working....now his small little dog being protective of pretty much whoever held her kept snipping at my feet as I stood there beside the bed....she was yapping ...I looked at DB then at the glass of water then he acknowledged with a nod looking at the dog....I tilted glass and made her head wet...she was then busy trying to clean the water off of herself and let my feet alone...crazy yapper!
Veggies are fiber and will give you gas if too many ingested at one time. I am guilty of not eating as many veggies as I should
Had a very rough night last night....made some Christmas cookies and if at any time I stand in one place for too long my back is not happy with me....I could barely stand to go to bathroom this morning...took tylenol and then had to resort to muscle relaxer to be able to stand upright....I think I better give my back some space today or will not be able to walk at all.
Tomorrow is my families turn to take wreaths to cemeteries...I had to redo the flowers and replace some of the battery operated lights...also bought some little solar lights that look like a snowman to place on each grave.....I got pretty emotional doing the wreaths in thinking who I have lost and the fear of losing any more family members....just hope I can hold it together when we meet to place them on.....tomorrow is never promised is it??
I read somewhere to drop warm mineral oil in ears and rest for a bit.to let coat...do this for 5 days and will hopefully take care of wax build up for a couple of months....2 days down and 3 to go now
18 here this morning but to get warmer each day the next several days with Christmas eve being in 50's...a heat wave!!! TODAY is the shortest daylight day with light increasing from now on....something for me to celebrate emoticon emoticon emoticon

Its tough to use hearing aids when wearing glasses, Karen as I know having worn them almost 70 years. Too many veggies can be a problem, Tee. The hear challenged use signs that is tough to follow at times.

NASFKAB, thank you for the information.

Sharon, hope you found the video. I had not been aware that the hoses could be so long.

Karen, glad the tens is working for you. It is good to hear your hearing aids are are working for you. I have friends who get frustrated with them.

Tee, I guess since I eat a lot of veggies on a daily basis I was not aware that they could cause a problem.
Great that your cholesterol is down!
Taking Metformin to stay slim does not sound very wise. (This is your doctor?) Metformin can cause diarrhea big time depending on what you have eaten.
Sorry your swimming gym will be closed for two weeks.
Enjoy your vacation time!

Our church had a fellowship today with the ladies having a devotion and the men having one. Then we got together for a meal and fellowship time. I sat with our deaf people and found I could not follow what they were saying because they talk too fast. I did understand when the lady explained how to make a desert using a hot iron dipped into hot oil then the batter and back to the oil. I learned the sign for kindergarten. emoticon

Nasfkab...I consume 3 sugar substitutes daily and never had diabetes.

Karen...Glad you enjoy staying indoors, reading, coffee machine and making soup. Good that your new hearing aids work. Sorry about cold temperature.

Sharon...Amazing that you are able to exercise with oxygen. I put new exercise dvd in my player a week ago and still haven't done the exercises.

Jane....Sorry you will deal with polyps the rest of your life. Nice that you felt well enough to attend meeting.

I went veggie a few years ago while attending Cancer Society cooking classes. Everyone in the class including me complained of stomach ache, bloating, etc. Teacher told us to add veggies slowly since large increase causes tummy issues. I ate red peppers, mushrooms, fields of green, artichoke, mushrooms, beets, radishes, tomato, avocado, zucchini noodles and cauliflower two days in row and paid the price.

I saw thyroid doctor. The good news is my bad cholesterol dropped 40 points in three months without medication. Doctor asked me how I did this. I haven't a clue. She wouldn't order gastro test. She said her facility doesn't do it and suggested gastro order test from his hospital and I give that facility picture disk of first test for radiologist to compare. I emailed gastro when I got home. His assistant called to let me know he was out of office and returns on Monday.

Her scale showed weight gain due to med decrease. I spoke to her about me gaining 30 lbs under her care. She told me she takes Metformin to stay slim. She explained that Metformin slows digestion and keeps patient full which leads to weight loss. I gained on Metformin and won't take again. She talked about taking injection next. Then, vetoed med and injection. She said I can't take any med that slows digestion before the gastro test. She changed one thyroid medication and told me to play with it...take 1-2 or 3 tablets daily until I feel good. I hate playing doctor. Other thyroid patients said they lost and felt better taking this medication. I hope it does the same for me.

I went to gym to unwind afterwards. Ran into friends and chatted while jogging in the empty pool. The pool closes today for 2 weeks for cleaning. So I will exercise at different gym I belong to.

My office Xmas party was nice. We went to wharf restaurant that grills fresh caught fish. We had window table and watched boats on the ocean and docked. Food was delicious. I only work one more day this month (12/26) and looking forward to vacation.

I didn't sleep well last night and tired. So off to bed. emoticon

It sure feels good to not have pain. I took my morning meds & used the TENS unit. Enjoyed coffee from my new Keurig machine. Read my devotional books. Making soup today.

Tee.. I get cramps when I eat lots of certain veggies. Also cheese.

It is 19 degrees outside so I will stay in today.

My new hearing aids/amplifiers seem to help but still adjusting to wearing them with my glasses.

I do not shampoo every day. Usually every few days.

Good morning. Some fog this morning but will turn into a nice day with temps at about 19 F. with sunshine and no wind. Today I would like to do some light cleaning. More putting things away and straightening up than actual cleaning. Yesterday was a pretty good day. I did 30 minutes of walking with a total of 4,408 steps for the day and also did a 25 minutes chair yoga video. It was so good to do that little bit of extra exercise. I enjoyed being able to do it off of the tv because it gives a good size viewing area to work from. My next video will be a cardio workout that I used to do if I can find it. I sure hope I can because I loved the workout and it wasnít one that was too hard on my breathing. Hope that you all have a great day today.

Jane, I have been on oxygen for about 6 orr 7 years now for 24/7 daily. It is not hard to work with as the hose is long enough I can get around the whole house with it except for downstairs and for that I have my portable. I use liquid oxygen so it is quiet and I don't use electricity and have two resivour tanks to fill off of. Never will run out in a week.

Jo Ann, good to hear from you.

Sharon, needing an oxygen tank sounds tough. It makes me more appreciate your walking.

Thelma, I did not realize the DO NOT CALL LIST was only a request. grrrrrr
It looks like I will probably deal with the polyps for the rest of my life. ďGettin old aint for sissies!Ē
Sorry your current doctor dropped a test because she apparently does not think it is needed. You may want to fire the doctorÖ
Glad you and your DH got the flowers on the graves in a timely manner.

Tee, stomach ache from too many veggies? That is a different thought.
Love it when tags are misleading on merchandise. haha
Hope you get the needed MRI.

NASFKAB, I love history and geography so usually I am up on those but really blew it if Bangladesh has not been part of India since 1947.

I went to the general membership meeting for GMHVA this morning. I was not sure I would make it as I did a lot yesterday and wore myself out.
It has been raining from the north east recently so my plants south of my house have not been watered properly these last days and I may need to get them watered tomorrow.

Stay warm and safe everyone.

Jane...Sorry you are allergic to chem and need polyps removed. Good you have primary appointment in Jan and can get tests done before surgery.

JoAnn...CA will be warm this weekend. We may need rain but not on Xmas Eve and Day. I remember when we wore shorts on Xmas. Climate has changed.

Sharon...Good that you were able to clean. I hope oxygen tank arrived.

Celeste...Sorry you have headache and starches raise your glucose. Medicare changed guidelines as to when they will pay for A1C. My lab plugged dx and tests in their computer and tells me what Medicare won't pay for. I refuse to pay $70 for test and haven't had one in years. My doctor's computer tells her what Medicare will and will not pay for. She said she coded properly and Medicare will pay. I had labs done in her office and will see if they pay. I am glad you were able to put flowers on cemeteries and hope nap did away with your headache.

There is a do not call list that works as long as you don't click or look at advertisements, use your credit card, etc. Doing these things allows telemarketers to call you. It happened to me when I opened a Publisher's Clearing House email. Got tons of calls offering ins, help with debt, etc.

I've had stomach ache from eating too many veggies. I had to go back to store to exchange pj bottoms I purchased for my son. The tag said large and they were extra large when I measured waist. Bought myself two frying pans since mine are scratched.

I have early morning doctor appointment. Not looking forward to it since her mood swings. I have to convince her to order MRI for gastro so he can compare pancreas cyst.

My office Xmas party is tonight. Not looking forward to that since I have to drive far at night.

Jane...if you are referring to the DO NOT CALL LIST....I put home and cell phone number on the list BUT it is only a request from what I have read so companies or not so honorable people don't have to honor the request. And anyway the DO NOT CALL LIST is government run so why think it would even work??? emoticon Good that you know now of allergic to the previous chemo ...sorry you are going thru this again....my thoughts and prayers are with you.
JoAnn...the good thing about the first day of winter for me is that it will then start to have more daylight from there on in. Yes it is cold in the east...21 degrees here this morning and a very brisk wind....brrr
Karen...what a blessing to get a new Keurig....DH makes his coffee with one...I use the small drip maker for mine, except when my arm was pretty much useless with pain a few months ago and then it was easier to push a button than to lift gal. jug of water to pour in reservoir
Tee..it is the carbs more so that sweets that send glucose up for me....mashed potatoes are a big one!! Funny thing happened on last follow up visit to Dr for blood work. I asked her why the A1C test was not on lab work....she looked at me oddly and said well there was no indication over the years to have it done emoticon emoticon emoticon ...so I pulled out my test results from file cabinet and it WAS done when previous Dr was there and I was told I was sitting on the fence....and I have from time to time had a high reading when I took test here at home....totally blown away what I am being told but by golly I have paperwork to prove it has been done AND things I am being told is wrong I have DH as a witness that I did hear it that way.....they are playing with old folks minds but this old folk has learned to document anything I want to back up.....don't mess with old people that have been wronged or lied to in the past....right?? emoticon
Got a nagging headache...either from sleeping in longer than I normally do or from being out in that awful cold & windy day yesterday shopping and putting flowers on cemeteries..was gonna make up a batch of cookies today but I think I may steal a nap instead

Good morning. It will be a little warmer today and that sounds so good. It will be partly cloudy and in the 20s. Yesterday was not quite as active. I walked for 20 minutes and had 4,235 total steps for the day. I did get the bathroom cleaned so am happy about that. I spent a lot of the day waiting for the person who delivers my oxygen to come so I could help him with the door. I like to be able to open the door for him so he doesnít have such a hard time getting the tank in. Today I hope to get more done and get my steps back in the 5,000 figures. Hope you all have a good day,.

Soon it will be the first day of winter. It is cold here in southern California but nothing like the cold in the eastern U.S. I am glad more rain is expected soon. I am catching up on everything on Sparks.

Prayers to all who need them

Sharon, sounds like you and Barb had a good time. Glad that Hailleyís skin is good and her leg is not bothering her.

Karen, what a blessing to get a keurig to replace the old one.

NASFKAB, I had not realized that Bangladesh is no longer part of India. I appologize for lumping the two countries together.
I visited MD with a friend a few years ago. We stayed with a friend of herís and then went to look around Washington DC.

Tee, I found my hair was really dry and hard when I was swimming long ago. When my sons were on a swimteam their hair got messed up from the chlorine. When they went swimming in the ocean it became soft.
Interesting about the honey increasing the glucose.
I saw the cancer doctor this afternoon and found out I am allergic to the chemo that had been administered last year so another type will be given. I will go back to see him in mid February after the polyps are removed. They will be removed in January or early February. I need to see my primary doctor and set up some things like a chest x-ray and EKG.
My primary doctor is on leave until January 8th when I already have an appointment to see her.
I am doing okay at this time, just a little tired this evening as I had gone to a luncheon with the GMHVA before I went to the cancer clinic.

Thelma....Good to hear your nephew's surgery went well and he is home. Sorry about the snow and ice.

Jane...I am praying you make the right decision regarding polyps. My coworkers aren't receiving fb email notices either.

Sharon..I hope you were able to do chair yoga. Great that you have enough leftover for the week.

Karen...Enjoy your new coffee maker. God Bless your GD for sending it.

Nasfkab...I look forward to hearing more about your holidays.

I shower daily. Been doing it since I was a kid in NY. Morning shower give me kick start. I wash my hair 3xs a week after swimming. I swim two days in row and wash hair both days. Blow dry hair on warm and finish with cold. Chlorine damages skin and hair. I use Trader Joe's liquid coconut oil with lemongrass on skin after showering. It's a 10 leave in keratin oil after drying hair. I wash hair, put condition on and sit in steam room for 10 minutes. Than wash conditioner out. This keeps my hair healthy. Hairdresser said we need healthy hair for hair dye to take properly. I cook with grapeseed oil, and eat a lot of fish, walnuts, etc that hydrates skin from inside. I am lucky I never had a problem with dry skin and hair

You are right that sugar doesn't cause diabetes Jane. However, sugar does increase fasting glucose. I had a cup of tea with teaspoon of honey at 8 pm and fasting glucose test 9 am next day. My fasting glucose was higher from honey. My A1C was still 5.1 since this test measures three previous months. My A1C was 5.7 last week which is higher than usual but I have been taking lower dose of thyroid med for three months.

I had 8 restless hours of sleep last night. The cpap headgear kept slipping off. I lost time, forgot things and almost fell asleep at work yesterday. My thyroid labs showed two lower levels. I didn't have forgetfulness, time loss, sleep problems, swollen ankles, ans other abnormal test results when I took more thyroid medication. I intend to discuss this with endo when I see her Friday.

I finished reading A Highland Christmas by M.C Beaton last night. It was a delightful story.

All the best to all. Hope you sleep better now, Tee. Funny that though I have lived most of my time in US in MD it was mostly in the DC suburbs, no idea of where you live, Thelma. Prayers that you can make the right desicion for your polyps, Jane. Great to see Barb brought food over, Sharon. It is good you have got a new machine, Karen.

I think I am rested up from my two grandsons staying with me due to school canceling on second day! Not sure what I will do today. Plenty to do around the house. I have a few Christmas cards I need to get ready to send.

We have a small country store near by that has a yearly big candy sale. They have all kinds of candy from the past & you just put as much as you want in each bag. I loved getting chocolate for Panthea. I may visit them again this year & give candy to some of the other residents of the home.

One of my granddaughters heard that my keurig was acting up. I have been using an older machine that I had stored just in case I needed it. Kelli was concerned it might have gotten moldy on the inside. Guess what? This morning a new keurig machine arrived from Amazon. I will get it ready for some hot chocolate later today.

Stay warm everyone

Ohio

Good morning. It is -2F. this morning and temperature is rising. It was much colder around midnight. We are now starting our warming trend and it will be about 15F. today. It looks like it will be sunny but will be breezy. Yesterday I did walk 30 minutes and had a total of 5,108 steps for the day. I have done a little better with the steps so far this week. Hope it continues to improve. I am going to try do a chair yoga video today along with my walking. I also want to get some cleaning done. Barb brought dinner last night and I chose to have Chicken Parmesan and it was so good, She had a sausage type pasta and of course she left me the leftovers so have enough food leftover for the rest of the week. Hailleys skin is looking good and her leg looks good so we are all good on this home front.

Tee, hope things get figured out for you as far as the cyst is concerned.
From what SP says, sugar does not cause diabetes or increase it. Not saying loading up on sugar is a good idea.
Glad to hear about the SS money increase, every little bit helps when it means more money coming in.

NASFKAB, please let us know when a festival is coming up and what it is about.
We have people who follow the religions you mentioned here and in the the states as well as others like Judaism where Christianity came from.

Sharon, you have so much energy!

Thelma, sorry about the telemarketers. I thought there was a means to stop their calls. Did that expire?
I do not wash my hair but about once a week. It is so fine and dry that there is little natural oil in it.
Glad your nephew is home and doing okay even if he has not called. Ice is so dangereous.

Tee, hope you have a better day. Having the internet messed up is frustrating!

I am going to have to make some major decisions soon about what to do from what the urologist found in my bladder. There are two tiny polyps near the mouth of the urethra. I will see the cancer doctor tomorrow and discuss the results with him and then need to make decision of having the polyps removed, chemo, or polyps removed and chemo. I have had two polyps removed in the past so I have an idea of what to expect. Definite time of prayer.

Jane

NASFKAB.....I live in the mountains of Md....about a 5-6 hr drive to the ocean.
Tee....in winter time I don't always take a daily shower...to do so dries out my already dry, itchy skin. I don't daily wash my hair either for same reason....that and the fact that it takes so very long to dry naturally....I try not to use hair dryer for same reason. I know a few gals that feel they have to wash their hair daily....well a few of those use hairspray ALOT so that is understandable to wash it out.....but both of which is not always good for the hair. On occasion I will incorporate mayo into damp hair after washing then place a shower cap or saran wrap around head and wait 20-30 minutes then wash it out....instant soft hair!!!
Nephew did well on surgery and went home in afternoon.....have not spoke to him on phone yet but I can imagine travel to hospital was interesting....area had been hit overnight with ice storm...roads not all that bad but trees and power lines covered in ice....trees falling on power lines and many without power.....pictures of mess on Facebook....what a mes! Snow was stuck onto the trees here but no ice....about 15 minutes west of here a different story even....not all that happy with snow but literally hate ice!!!!!!
Today will be a cold windy day to take flowers around to DH's dear mother, father and 2 sisters graves.
Everyone have a wonderful day!

I am having trouble with Spark today and will make this short. Maybe they are doing maintenance.

I have only been sleeping a few hours nightly and tired. 50 degrees in Sunny Ca, which is cold for us. Took two hours to order presents for my kids on internet this morning. Then, delivery information was wrong and I had to call them to correct. Having present makes me feel less stressed. I food shopped after work since didn't have breakfast and dinner food.

There are days ( usually on my day off work) that I don't shower and dress until after noon. I think my body needs the me time.

I am off to bed and will read posts tomorrow.
