Fingers crossed!

Yesterday, three in my household/family voted. I completed my mail in ballot and dropped it at the local post office. My son did his, but we drove downtown and he took it straight to the elections office. And my mom did hers and I took her to the big central post office to drop off.

I’m getting nervous. I am still waiting on confirmation for me and my daughter’s voter registration confirmations. Calling Monday. We intend to vote by mail.

I'm biting my nails. People are starting to get their mail in ballots but mine is still a no show. I was really really hoping to get the ballot during September. Oh well. Patience is a virtue.

We received our ballots in the mail last week. Madison has the option of turning them in at a city park this Saturday and next, so we will either do that or drive them to the city/county building.

Yup, definitely no in-house burning during calendar 2020. Wait for the turn of the year.

Yes indeedy, it's the Year From Hell. I hear tell that some people are having a Calendar Burning Party. I don't know if it's going to be virtual or in person, but they will all burn their 2020 calendars once this Year Of Horror is over.

I voted by mail in the primary. I'm all signed up to get my ballot by mail, and I sure hope they get this stupid printing problem fixed.

I'm here in Centre County, and there's one of those ballot boxes just two blocks from my house at the government building (which used to be the county hospital way back when - I was born there and now I can vote there).

I'm waiting for my ballot to come, and I'll carefully read the instructions so that I don't miss something and have my ballot thrown away and my vote not count. I'll fill my ballot out and check it again to make sure I did everything right. Then I'll head out the door and up the street to the Willowbank Building (government) and stick that ballot in the handy-dandy ballot box by the door.

And I'll hope that Frump doesn't come up with some sort of nonsense that says that ballot boxes by the door are no good for some stupid reason and that ballots in them aren't valid or some stinkin' thing. I've never had such a feeling before, that voting is now so dubious, so fraught with difficulties.

And if my ballot doesn't come, I'll head over to the Spring Township building where we all vote and I'll tell them I need a ballot. I don't like the idea of standing in line - Penn State is a virus hotspot, what with students coming back and partying without masks or social distance - I'm staying away from State College and staying here in Bellefonte.

But voting is important...

All elections are important on some level, but this fall's is by far the most consequential of our time. With so much on the line, it's critical for us all to make our plan to vote early, and build in as many options as our states allow. Here's mine.

I live in Pennsylvania, Allegheny County (Pittsburgh). We just passed A LOT of election reforms last year that were supposed to take effect for the primary, but hey, it's 2020, why should anything be easy?

One of the best things to happen was that they removed the excuse requirement for Vote By Mail, so I signed up for that for the entire year as soon as it was available. Worked like a charm in the primary.

We've been biting our nails over WHEN the ballots would be available, because they were being held up in a state Supreme Court case. That finally got sorted out last week, and ballots are beginning to be printed.

So here's my plan.

If I receive my ballot in September, I will carefully complete it, put it in the secrecy envelope, put that it the mailing envelope, sign it, and mail it via USPS.

If it comes in October, I'll do the same, but deliver it downtown to the county Elections office directly.

If I don't receive it before the election date, I'll go to my polling place and vote with a provisional ballot.

Pennsylvania is currently roiling with so much disinformation on voting. The Russians must be clinking their vodka glasses and toasting to the disorder.

I still have a reasonable hope that our big Dem turnout, and our moderate Rep flip votes will still hand Joe and Kamala a victory ON ELECTION NIGHT. There is a LOT of enthusiasm here.

I've gone so far as to change my FB profile picture to a Secrecy Envelope, so people can spread the message of what it looks like and remind folks to NOT THROW IT AWAY OR YOUR VOTE DOESN'T COUNT.
