I hope we will still hear from Toby and get to see her art, even if she is not team leader anymore. Maybe we can just lead ourselves! Good idea Windsweptacres!

i agree with Pocketcollie --I'm not the motivational leader type either. Some people have the knack of saying just the right thing; me, not so much.

Tee posted that she couldn't be team leader anymore, and none of us were willing to step up. I've got too many irons in the fire in other venues, and I am absolutely NOT a motivational leader-type. I am purely a follower.

No reason why we can't continue to share here until such time as someone feels up to becoming team leader. It's all that motivational stuff that stops me in my tracks. My brain just doesn't work that way.

Being retired for two years now, I not only miss my work on an Alzheimers' unit in a nursing home, but also the volunteer commitments I had during the years of caring for my children. Now, like POCKETCOLLIE, I feel that I have paid my dues as a vounteer. Most of the organizations I have contacted recently don't exhibit enthusiasm or appreciation for the time senior citizens contribute, as evidenced by the insignificant tasks provided "just to keep them busy".

Aw heck, Tee. But I understand where you are coming from. It's darned hard to act all motivated when the "room" seems deserted. If I were younger, I'd consider volunteering. The plain truth is, though, I'm all volunteered out after so many years of volunteering.

You're not leaving SP, though, are you?

When I returned to Spark People a few weeks ago, I thought participating in teams might keep me motivated to keep going. I only participate on this one and one other in the "getting fit over 50" message board. I do think it is helping keep me motivated.

Hubs got home and we spent yesterday putting up goat pen panels in my newly cleaned goat room. It's a former dairy barn, and I've turned the milking parlor into my Goat Room/Kidding pen. It's coming together nicely, and I'll have four good-sized pens instead of two. There is still room left over for an additional two or three pens if needed, but I really don't plan to get that big.

I will have one Pygmy doe kidding right before Thanksgiving. It will be fun to have a baby or two to play with through the winter. Last spring's kids are really getting big now - about 2/3 of the way to their adult size. Still cute, but not as cute as the little ones.

How sorry I am to read Toby's post, as she has always been so motivational with her humorous stories and positive attitude. This was the first team I joined, thinking that it would be a great place for me to rant and rave about all of the things that "get my goat". Then I discovered that many of you actually had goats and used this site to share your interests. I felt rather embarrassed, but then started reading your experiences, and I found such peace, not wanting to rant and rave about anything.

Through many of you, and especially Toby, I realized the true value of the Sparkpeople program. Losing weight is such a small part of it. Reaching out to motivate each other, make each other laugh, or improve our self esteem is so much more important.

Like Toby, I have been in a slump lately, relying on her for moral support as I force myself to even visit my Sparkpage a few times a week. I decided that I was spending way too much time socializing, tracking, and blogging without focusing on a healthy daily routine. Thus, I sat back to re-evaluate my goals for a month to focus on redeveloping a better health plan.

Surprisingly, without structured exercise and a nutritious diet, I have only gained a few pounds. I think my heavy tennis shoes are partly responsible, as I wore sandals or was barefoot all summer, causing the scale to indicate a weight loss. Now that I have to bend over to tie shoes, you'd think I would lose weight!@#$%^&^%$

Nevertheless, I feel Toby's pain. If none of us are working together to make this team thrive, we may as well join an "old dead horse" team.

THE NUMBER OF PEOPLE REPORTING FITNESS MINUTES ON THIS TEAM HAS DWINDLED TO ONLY FOUR.
Few people use the Barn Talk board to communicate.
It seems to me that the team is dying.

I've enjoyed my time chatting with you and telling you my woes.
And reading your blogs.
As of now, I intend to resign as team leader.
Any one who wants to take over the position is welcome to it.
Send me a Spark Mail.

I have lost momentum. I haven't made ant significant effort or weight loss all year.
I don't even have goats. And rather than beat a dead horse,
It's time for me to go.

I just read again Liz Meyer's entry called the Time Has Come.
She has left her email addresses and Face Book name for us if we want to keep in touch. Liz was captain of this group long before I showed up. I will be staying in touch with her. Sometimes we need to scale back on our commitments. Everyone should know that we can take what we learn from SparkPeople and apply what we have learned. I know that I need lots of encouragement to stay on track!

Anita! (my middle name!) this cold front is supposed to motor on through and the weather should be hot, the day AFTER the scheduled event where I was going to paint shirts. We spent yesterday sealing up some of the drafts in the adjacent unfinished rooms of the house.
Eventually we will build a greenhouse on the south side of the house and put a breakfast nook out there!

Tee, maybe the darned cold front will leave early, too! I used to think it was a bunch of hooey when people said they could tell the weather by their aches and pains... until I got to be THIS age! I have a shoulder that tells me when a storm is inbound, too. Come to think of it, my left shoulder. Mine is from a very un-graceful airborne dismount from a horse when I was in my teens. emoticon

We just checked the weather report. The Team Roping Event/Halloween Celebration will be on Saturday, but there are predicting a cold front For Friday and Saturday. My booth is in a corner mear the gaping doors of the fair barn. I won't be able to paint in those conditions, so I will take prepainted shirts and hope to sell a few. DANG IT.

Well, oeya hona yawnetu, (It's Na'vi folks), you and I don't log time, because we spend our time WORKING, not typing. When we are going up and down 20 foot ladders, swinging 2 by 6's, HAND SAWING said 2X6's when there is a power saw right there, because it makes us TOUGHER, we don't have time to "talk" about losing weight, we are losing weight. (WHY my pants are now too big, so I need a smaller pair again, and you are losing weight still).

Windswept! I am often in the same position, perhaps literally, as you. Most of my energy is expended climbing ladders for our roof work. I expend more energy when we are digging or pouring cement. I lost three pedometers over the year and I gave up counting steps. On your start page, there is a quick feature for entering fitness minutes. Enter a guess-timate for low impact walking or YOGA. When I am required to hold something in place, I tense up my muscles and concentrate on balance and dynamic tension.
I indicate Yoga, low impact aerobics, low impact walking, gardening, construction, and heavy digging, when I can. Hope this helps.

Howdy everyone!

My activity for the day was appropriate for this forum - barn cleaning and reorganizing! What I found in the activities that most resembles barn cleaning is "gardening". Windsweptacres, maybe you should browse through the activities to see if something sounds like it would have similar motions?

Today, I disassembled the rest of my chain link pens and repaired some of the damaged panels. I had a really nasty mama goat that refused to stay inside a pen. She learned as a yearling that if she rammed her head into the chain link enough times, she could pop the tension clips that hold the chain link onto the frame! "Mad Molly" went down the road to a new home this summer, one where she won't have to be confined to a small pen again. I'd had enough of her destructive ways, and she wasn't a particularly likeable goat, either.

Yesterday, I picked up a new doe that I bought from a gal in Washington. She traveled back to Idaho with a friend who had driven up to their goat show. Trixie is a sweetheart! Nothing at all like Mad Molly! (Molly earned her "Mad" prefix from trying to flatten every new goat that came onto the place. It's nice having a peaceful herd again.)

Hope to finish up the barn cleaning tomorrow so hubby can help me re-install the panels when he gets home. Should be truckin' in Sunday night.

Cheers,
Anita from Idaho

Don't know how to post work-minutes for projects like our new kitchen cabinets, which may take five hours on a given day, but it's not all physical labor. Mostly it's "Here, hold this" and "Honey, can you get me that yellow thing from the tool closet?"

I've tried logging the steps, but it doesn't add up to much, and I have no idea how much energy is expended holding something in place while my husband trims a shelf or routs a cabinet door.

We rode into El Paso yesterday to buy shirts for a particular custom order.
Went home and painted five great shirts.
Problem is I painted them on thin V necks and they wanted thick cotton crew neck TV shirts.
They bought three of the shirts and I will have to paint two more shirts, (which they will buy.)
I feel dumb for putting names on the shirts.
I ignored a hunch that they might not like V necks. RATS!

It's very windy today. I will have to ride my stationary bike for exercise.

The day before yesterday we spent a couple of hours working on the roof.
Yesterday we worked on vehicles. Today Brie has to g to El Paso for routine blood work.
The VA is three stories high and situated on a hill with a long parking lot. So I will get some strenuous walking done! I can usually eat a salad when in town, and fresh fruit.

Hope you can get Izzy seen and get your eye exam rescheduled.
With cold weather setting in, maybe you can get some indoor exercise routines going.

We are assembling Brie's workbench in a corner of the den. (Dang directions were NOT very accurate.) Now we have two exercise bikes, my huge easel, the work bench and two couches all crowded in there!

I'm supposed to go the the eye doctor tommorow but I think I have to cancel and take Izzy to the Vet. I think she has a bladder infection. I saw a blood clot on her potty patch yesterday. I have lots of experience with bladder infection in cats but none in dogs!

Anyone know if dogs can have cranberry juice?

Sorry about the no exercise minutes but the truth is I haven't done any! And now I'm seriously angry because I just realized I forgot to watch a movie that was on Me TV today!

Thanks for your supportive words team! I have been invited back to paint in late October at a Roping Event. I might advertize in the local rag, because I didn't get enough cards out. It also gives people a chance to plan their gifts!
I just hope the temperature is favorable. I can't work wearing gloves!
Well, I've never tried!
Our low was 48last night, but 59 the previous night, I stay cold all winter, no matter how many layers I wear. Supposedly, being cold forces your body to burn more fat!

Breaking even sounds pretty good to me, Tee, considering how much exposure you got for your painting. People remember things they see and like at the fair. Glad you were able to relax after your "pre-game" jitters.

Weather change here in Idaho. Our high was in the 50s today and we're supposed to have a hard freeze tonight. Good riddance bugs! Sorry to see the end of my tomato garden though. I covered the plants tonight, but they won't last much longer anyway. Plan to go swimming tomorrow and Friday. I've been swimming two or three days per week for the last two months. It's the only way I like to exercise because, simply put, I don't like to sweat! lol

I got up early and posted our fitness numbers and sent out goodies.
Last day for the fair but only a short day.
I am barely breaking even but I am relaxed and happy.
The slow pace of the little fair was a relief!
My arm is holding up well.
Next month starts tomorrow. Time to step up my game plan
and add more strenuous exercise.

We rode the motorcycle into Dell City, laden with last minute items, and got there even before the organizers had opened the doors. Apparently, Fridays are SET UP days, the only people in the building were other venders. Brie replaced the missing bolt, and rigged the extention cord for me, over the doorway.
The venders who had been there previous years assured me that tomorrow would be VERY busy. First will be the little parade, then the festivities at the fairgrounds start up with team roping events.I have already made enough to cover the entry fee, and the paints. It will be interesting to see how things turn out. I will give em a show and hope for the best.

Within the hour I will be at the Exhibit booth at the fair. I hand lettered 50 business cards on 3x5 index cards. My phone needs a new sim card so I am borrowing Brie's phone. I have misplaced my example book/catalog and a bolt fell out of my easel. The electric outlet that they provided does not have three prongs, so Brie is going to reroute it over a doorway. I'm next to a doorway and my booth is covered in dust. My booth is plain looking so I'll be relying on the painting activity to draw a crowd. I'm a nervous wreck with the stage frightjitters. I hardly slept all night.
I know I'll do fine. I think the worry must be a pre-requisit!

BUSY DAY
Tuesday, September 25, 2012

We returned to Dell City. I had hoped to use the printer at the library but they didn't open until after lunch time. We got home and I helped Brie put the trailer hitch onto the red jeep. In this manner, I can haul my compressor, easel and airbrushing equipment to the fairgrounds Thursday evening. After a break we hoisted three sixteen foot beams onto the eastern porch. We spent two hours on the roof, measuring and installing the beams over the den and the eastern porch. I climbed the ladder numerous times, bending stooping lunging, haulng buckets of tools and hardware up and down. Got a good work out today!

I'll postpicsof my tshirts on todays blog.
Crunch time! I've got to figure ut my 10'x10' display area, business cards, order forms etc.
We have to put the trailer hitch on the red Jeep from the black Jeep. I'm nervous.

Try to get some ginger root, Chris. It will clear up your head really fast.

Catch ya later, kids!

Would like to see a picture of your tee shirts! Nice that things seem to be going well for a change, and emoticon on your four pound loss! I am going round two with the head cold I had over labor Day weekend. I tried to dig dandelions out on the front lawn. Every time I stood up I staggered all over, the neighbors probably thought I was drunk! Izzy is dying to go for a walk but I am going to bed. It is getting cold here!

I have finished painting four shirts that I accepted on commission for Spanish Angels Cafe.
Chubby Cherubs eating a taco! If Martha is in Dell City today, we can deliver.
There was lots of anxiety when my airbrush stopped working. Brie reached over and switched on the compressor! OOPS! I felt silly! But I made some nice work! Brie helps pace me so that I don't overwork my damaged rotator cuff. (It creaks and pops and aches this morning)

This afternoon we intend on working on the roof. If I don't have time to paint today, then tomorrow for certain.!

GOOD NEWS! I've LOST four pounds! I'm not sure how I did it. Must be all the ladder climbing. Maybe sitting on the back of a motor bike tones my muscles.
We rode one hour into El Paso yesterday and got the water pump. Then we rode back for an hour. Today Brie installed the water pump. We are allowing the adhesives for the gasket to cure overnight. We should have the Jeep on the road tomorrow!
I also plan to AIRBRUSH some shirts tomorrow!

Good news about Peach Fuzz. Amazing news, actually!
Yeah, the vehicle situation is robbing us of money and time and transportation needed to address the VA situation. But we shall prevail in the long run. The weather should be clearer and less windy than yesterday. We can ride into town on the motorbike for the water pump. If our neighbors are home, perhaps they will give us a ride. Meanwhile, I need to send out Spark Goodies.

Peach Fuzz is hanging in there, he is not ready to leave his mommy yet! He may even have gained half a pound. It doesn't show on the scale but he feels a little less bony. He is eating more than twice as much and I am giving him all he wants.

I don't know how to log my excercise minutes walking with Izzy. I know how long I walked but not how fast. Anyone know how to long just walking for twenty minutes?

Toby you are under so much stress! I am sorry to hear the terrible news about your two friends. And tell that car dealer you will sue if he doesn't find you a new transmission. He knew where that car came from, he's a crook!

Had a doctor appt. Thursday, didn't go to bad. I have lost a little weight and brought my blood pressure down a little. My knees were really bad and my feet looked like watermelons while the weather was humid but both are much better now. But I have been very bad, not tracking my sugar or taking my meds. Time to get back on track.

I wish you could go to the VA with a good lawyer. If they overpaid by 200 a month they should take it back at 200 a month. Or they should just have to swallow the cost, it's not like Brie stole the money, they should have to pay for their own mistake. Is Brie taking fish oil? It might help her arthritis a bit. Also good for high blood pressure.

I have gotten hooked on "free" games on Facebook. You can play for free but you can't finish any quests on time unless you buy "coins". When I pay for something I want someone to hand me a bag with my purchase in it!

We got a weird cold front in last night. I heard thunder, too, and dreamed it was a car rev-ving it engine. I wondered how I could be hearing that out in the wilderness, but couldn't wake up. Woke up at 7:30 AM cold and stiff. Brie spent the morning working on the red Jeep. NOW it's the water pump that went out. But it is too cold and windy to make a 130 mile trip to El Paso and back. (It dropped 30 since yesterday.) Had chili and coffee for lunch.
New strategy: pedal my stationary bike while th coffee is perking. I REALLY scorched my pot today. *sigh*

Well, making a go of it in the middle of nowhere will keep you going longer than sitting back in an easy chair somewhere!

Hubby is away on the truck (he's a long haul driver). I have been making repairs and cleaning pens, getting ready for winter. Yesterday, I reversed a gate that I've been complaining to myself about forever, and wow - was I ever right. It is so much more convenient swinging in the other direction. Now I'm asking myself why I didn't "just do it" when I first was irritated by it being on backwards. How many years have I put up with that?!!

Cleaning the garage today. Blech!

OMG NOT THE GATE!

On the other hand, two of your goaties got second place in a tight competition.

Brie and I work slowly, as she has arthritis in her back. Getting up one beam a day is sometimes all that can be managed, but it makes her feel worthwhile to be able to do her own work. Lucky for her, I have the ability to "crack her back" and massage her well. I think it is pretty incredible that we two old broads are out here in the middle of nowhere, making a GO of it! Thanks for the compliments! Now, up on the roof we go!

Thank you Tabby Arts! It sounds like you have had a very eventful week! Locked out of a running van? That is never any fun... not to mention, it's embarrassing. I can't believe you two are performing that kind of heavy labor working on your roof. Wow! And I thought *I* was independent and accomplished when I was younger. Nowhere near what you are doing.

We took our goats to a show in Boise, Idaho, about 125 miles away. All I can say about our performance there is that "we learned a lot". emoticon A couple of our goats placed second in their classes, but most of them placed lower or "got the gate" (no placing). When we arrived at the show site on Friday night, Danny (DH) took a look around and predicted, "Our ego is about to be shredded." There were a LOT of really nice pygmy goats.

Back to the drawing board. emoticon

Oh, and thank you for the Spark Goodies!

Congratulation to Pocket Collie for getting ribbon on all her goats at the County Fair!!!

Brie and I just moved our fifteen 2in x6in x12ft beams onto the roof. We have enough hardware to assemble three scissor trusses and put them in place. The rest will have to wait. Right now we are giving ourselves a half hour break. She is teaching me as we go, I'm not sertain how these will be assembled yet!

I am shivering! It is 66 cloudy overcast and windy. We want to work on the roof, but I don't know it it is possible or even safe!
The good news is that the car dealer is willing to work on finding a better transmission for the Jeep he sold us. I think it might have been recovered from a flood with the amount of water that was in the transmission. ut that is a load off my back. Now I can concentrate on painting shirts for the fair.
Hope everyone is doing well.

Crossed our fingers and drove into El Paso to the VA Dental clinic. Her dentist was able to cement her bridge work back into place. (She had her front teeth knocked out when someone ran her down on her mountain bike 26 years ago.) Now she can talk and smile withut feeling self conscious. The dentist will devise a schedule for open mouth surgery to pull some teeth and build some new teeth for her.
We did some laundry and chatted with our friends who run it. Did some grocery shopping and got some gasoline (10 cents less per gallon, with a prepaid card!) When Brie coaxed the Jeep into reverse the transmission made such a CLANG that I thought we had backed into someone. But it keeps going! The worst noises come when we are gearing down, or reversing. We are REALLY trying to get the Red Jeep back on the street ASAP! This is nerve wracking!

I clean forgot about posting fitness stats on Sunday. My Labor Day Weekend was hectic. How about yours? Our visitors from England showed up a day before payday and we had to scramble to arrange a ride. We got locked out of a running van. The hotel manager told us out visitors had already checked out. Luckily we found them walking back from breakfast. We took our black Jeep in to get fluid in the differentials and the transmission. The transmission was half full of WATER. It is making bad noises and we expect the transmission to quit working at amy given moment. When we paid our hangar rent the guys in the glider club were checking out their tow winch, being that their tow planee was not operational. One glider almost got launched but came crashing down from a short height. But our friend who was thepilot, died the next morning. Then we found out that the BEST WOMAN at our wedding died from cancer. I'm emotionally frazzled.
Brie and I bought a few building materials and will set to work laying cement within the hour.
We managed to have two cook outs with our Brits before they continued motoring northward to British Columbia. My Niece has located me after almost 30 years. So I am looking forward to catching up with her.

Life is challenging without our building budget.
The VA in their great wisdom, overpaid Sabrina by $200 for 20 years!
So since January of two years ago they have been taking $700 from our budget each month.
That leaves us enough to survive on, but eliminated our construction progress.
It is hard to motivate Sabrina to finish any projects, whether because she is depressed or because the arthritis in her back is too painful. Combination most likely.
Our unfinished rooms are leaking.
I'm pretty sour and depressed. It will be two years before the VA returns us to our original payment schedule. We have guests arriving Friday. I'm supposed to focus on being vreative for the fair at the end of September. I'm stressed.

NIAG CHRIS! Glad that you are back. I'm so sad that PeachFuzz has to suffering. It is good that you are a loving human. The loss of a pet is the loss of an old friend. It is always so sad.
Thanks for the feedback you gave to PennyMae. I can use it too!

Whoa! Where am I? Looks familiar. I have been wandering around in depressionland, have found my way out for a while this weekend. Sorry I have been gone so long. I am dealing with Peach Fuzz's approaching death and the discovery of unpaid bills.

Peach Fuzz is in kidney failure. My fine fat pussycat is a just a bag of bones, tired, and just wants me to hold him. I have been crying for weeks but at least it is not a surprise. I will bury him next to his brother Gee. He is going to leave a huge hole in my life.

PennyMae, I have read through some of the older posts and noticed that your lunches are way to high in fast carbs. That is why you are craving more carbs before dinner and end up at McDonalds! Baked potato is fine if it is a small potato. Mac and cheese has no reason for existence! Do not eat it ever! Well, maybe for a treat once in a while. Applesauce is also a fast carb, much better to eat the apple. Go ahead and have butter with your potato but only one pat! Or tuck an ounce of cheese in the potato, but not both. Add a green salad with olive oil and vinegar dressing. Have as much salad as you want but be careful with the dressing. Do not use diet dressings, they have added sugar. Have some peanutbutter with your apple. (Hope you are not allergic to peanuts!). I also depend on Yoplait yogurt for desert, even though it is full of artificial stuff.

OMG Charalin!!!!!!!!!! I'm glad you are better, it sounds like you had a really close call! About Prince Charming, always be suspicious. I never met one yet that was any good when I got to know him. To bad a young girl had to suffer, glad they got him, and glad it will help your custody case. If you get a chance to let her know, it may make her feel better to know she is protecting a baby.

Toby! Good luck with your business! It sounds like just the thing! I like how you and Brie sat up and discussed thinkgs that were bothering the two of you and keeping you awake. Bet you felt better after you had made a plan!

You'all people have been busy! Time for me to get off my ass.

OMG !!!!!! I had diarrhea for 4 days, so I took Imodium......My entire body started to swell!!! I had a botox lip without the cost....not fun!!!( I really don't look good with a puffy lip) I went to the doctor and got a steroid shot, and a bunch of prescriptions.. I am a lot better, but one spot on my face is still a bit swollen.
Jill's ex was arrested yesterday for sexually assaulting a girl under 16..(.that's all the cops would tell us) This really will help in the custody case for the baby...we do not want him or need him to be in the baby's life.
It is really sad as he was so wonderful when we first met him...a total prince. He quickly fell off his throne.

Yesterday I took my first three chili festival shirts to Spanish Angels Cafe to show-off my first three shirts. My writing skills with an airbrush need improvement! Muscle memory!
Practice Practice Practice! But everyone likes my work.

I did a lot of heavy lifting yesterday, too, Her tool box weigh about fifty pounds. I lifted it a few times and moved it about. One of our Jeeps has a bent fender. No! We bought it that way! We have an anvil/vise that fits onto our trailer hitch, Weighs about 50 or 60 pounds. I lifted it into the wheelbarrow and trundled it over to the truck. It is not designed to do the task we set. She placed extreme amounts of pressure on it. She used it like a press and BROKE it! The fender looks straighter but still needs work.
The American Steak guy showed up after that and sold us some frozen fish and a turkey. We can use our neighbor's freezer and fridge, its in the shed we built for them! Life is hard but rewarding.

Two hours before sunset, Brie and I climbed on the roof, took measurements, climbed off the roof, cut boards to size, climbed up and down a few times to get tools. And worked until the storms got close.
Lightning was thirty miles off. Close enough. We climbed down and watched the purple rain drifting down through pink clouds. It rained lightly this morning. We need to go into Dell City and buy some compressr oil so I can paint later today.

Good to hear from you Charalin! I hope Dylan heals quickly. and I hope Jill now realizes that the men she includes in her life can have a serious impact on her kids. PRAYING! I think Jonathon will get active again at his own pace. His heart will grow stronger from use.
I am adopting that attitude for my arm. I've been letting fear and a little pain prevent me from painting. Now all I need is some more compressor oil and I will be practicing once again.
Gee, maybe I shouldn't be afraid of exercise too!

Hi Everyone, Just dropped in to say I'm still here. Tee, you have been soooo busy!!!! Hope your business kicks off great.
Jonathan went for his doctor's appointment at Scott & White a few weeks ago... heart rate is still very low, but everything else is great, so they still don't have a clue why. We don't have to go back in a year unless he gets symptoms. He can get back to a normal life, in fact, the doctor encourages it.
Jill is pregnant.....before she even found out, her "wonderful" boyfriend showed his true colors, getting drunk all the time, and attacked Jonathan. She immediately kicked him out. He had been stalking them, and one day stuck his foot out at Dylan while he was riding his bike. Jill went to the cops who told him to leave them alone....haven't seen him since then.
Dylan has a cracked kneecap, and is seeing a specialist Thursday.
Other than that, things have been pretty quiet here.lol
I got a new computer, so I can check in again

I 'm dropping in to say HELLO to y'all. I have been focusing my energy towards greeting my airbrushing business in order. I dug up some of my works from years ago and took them over to Spanish Angels Cafe. All the locals hang out there. A lot of businesses and friends want me to paint shirts for them.
Brie is going to help me finish setting up my easel. (Yesterday I had promised to help her sand down our red Jeep) Today I need to cut some stencils and start practicing!
On the net, Brie is researching chickens and plans for chicken coops. Life is busy with planning and beginnings!

Going to the VA with Brie to establish my medical power of attorney and legal power of attorney in case of an emergency. Kind of gruesome but necessary. Also need to buy some shirts to paint and contact the woman who assigns booth space at the fair. Next, I have to dig-up my sample wares and and create a scrap book of previous works. I'm pretty exited. My two friends came to visit last evening. Sandy is my patron of the arts, and is providing start up money for my endeavor. (!) Her friend, came along as the driver. Mary said that she has been trying to get Sandy out of the house all year, just for a jaunt. Sandy has always refused until NOW!

We bought a car from a neighbor in Dell City who has it in storage in El Paso. We are supposed to go into Carlsbad to fetch it up but we are going to arrange to get it in September instead. Lincoln Continental with a big engine. The engine and tranny are rebuilt, so we might put it in the big work truck.
On the flip side, a different neighbor gave me $150 to invest in my airbrush business. I'm going to try to have a booth at the county fair. I won't pait thewholetime. Maybe I can take orders. And work at my own pace.
Change is occuring. It should be good.

WOW!!! We actually got some rain this weekend, and our temperatures are a bit cooler, which is a relief for everyone, especially the children who have already returned to school. Can you believe that school has started the first week of August? My granddaughter started first grade on Friday, and went a full day. It just seems too early to me. Whatever happened to summer vacations?

It's Sunday morning. My sinuses are misbehaving. Brie is mowing the lawn. It is slightly overcast but there is a NICE breeze occurring. I ran out and gave her her hat, I've made a pot of coffee, and I'll be running outside to intercept with water from time to time. I hope this headache abates quickly. Gonna go check the Fitness numbers and post goodies.
Later KIDS~

First thing in the morning, Brie got the tractor/mower off the trailer and took it for a fast spin. It made mince-meat out of the chapparral bushes that are dotting the runway. Because we saved more than we intended to spend, we spent the night at Motel Six and had a mini vacation. AC, good mattress, trout dinner at Elmer's Restaurant next door. Would have gone swimming but my arm was too sore and the water too cold. I chickened out and opted for a hot shower and bath!

We sat under the hangar in the shade and visited with a neighbor yesterday. It was an impromptu visit. Talked about his horses and just sat and talked for a little while. The rest of our day was uneventful.

We only got sprinkles and a 15 minute rain shower. We got a little more construction done. Slowly, we are making progress. I spent half an hour running back and forth for tools and climbing ladders while Brie assembled and fitted another beam and two uprights. More of the same later today. I will add 20 minutes of stationary biking..

Hi everyone, just here to check in and let y'all know that me and mine are fine; ElmiraNY got hammered but our rellys are all well. They have a curfew tonight and apparently the whole place is a mess; but tomorrow sometime DH will go in and retrieve my SIL so she can get away for a while. I guess lots of Elmira is without power, and there are Many trees down and roofs off. We only lost power for a moment early on, and it has stayed on so far, yay! We did hear the 'train coming' sound of the storm as it passed by, tho; scarey!

Be Safe!!

I lay down last night. Sleepless. Worried about Brie's bad back and the slow pace of construction, namely a roof that needs to be completed before it rains. We stayed up and discussed our concerns and reprioritized some projects. The clutter is driving me crazy and getting me epressed. We will rent a stoage room in El Paso for a few months or a year so that we can progress. SANITY!

Slept better last night. Slept from 10:30 til 0739. Had my oatmeal. Now for another cup of coffee. Probably more battery maintainance today. Maybe a roof beam or that post hole.

Our calendar at hme was misprinted. We thought we were going to be paid Friday, but we aren't getting paid until Wednesdays. Now we have to juggle resources, most fuel, for an extra three or four days.

Did a lot of small muscle movement over the past two days, doctoring photos of my friends in full costume! My rotator cuff got wrenched in a wreck back in '96. It always hurts when I draw or paint. We did maintainance on the batteries of our solar powered electric system at home.. Basically I ran and got water to top off those boogers. They were too low and eren't holding a charge. They should work better now.
I did't sleep well last night. Stayed up til 3AM playing with the backgrounds of the photos.
Maybe we will dig another post hole tomorrow, for our shootin' porch.

Good Morning Kids! (pun intended) I'm l eating my oatmeal and raisins, and trying to chase away my morning headache with Excedrin and coffee and a scalp massage. We are laying cement today to lay the corner post for our "shootin' porch" which faces the eastern hillside.
It seems that I am also allergic to Crystal Light Lemonade. Took two days for my tongue to stop itching. dang.

I heard that Pandora is good to listen to. I wish I had Sirius or whatever that is in my vehicle...can't stand commericals anymore...some of them just aren't kid-friendly and is scary...really...

checking in with my eating...had regular breakfast right before work so I wouldn't cram with junk food before dinner. I brought a Stouffer's spaghetti and took a microwaved baked potato with a cup of sugar free vanilla ice cream and boy was I starvin' when I got home at midnight, so I ate the graham crackers and unsweetened applesauce and was still hungry when I got up this morning...what's up with that? So now I get hungry and am gonna run to junk food again...I see it comin'...but it hasn't happened yet...eating a bowl of cheerios then off to visit the Avon lady...then get ready to work alone tonight, well part of it...

Tee, be careful of standing where you are in case Brie decides to accidentally drop something so you're not in its path...lol...

see ya!

Brie has been building a roof, fiberglassing the top of the red Jeep and I;ve been standing aroung handing her tools or walking around the complex locating tools and stuff. I climb the ladder several times a day, but no great exertion. Chopping weeds, half an hour.
While spending time on the computer we;ve been listening to Hawaiian music on Pandora radio. (They have lots of free music with which to customize your listening pleasures) Then Brie found a whole bunch of Samoan videos on you tube. A lot of Polenysians are seriously obese, that didn't stop them from dancing. (I was truly amased that some one could dance so energetically and still carry so much weight! Dancing looks like a lot more fun than construction for loosing weight, though!

I was off work today due to an asthma situation...still feeling quite down and it's 7pm...

breakfast was the same which was good. For lunch, I just had a cup of unsweetened applesauce and a 1/2 cup of Sarah's buttered noodles from last night. This evening was a challenge for me. I tried to make things healthy and no support from hubby...he's a pizza lover...so

Sarah had bought some chicken tenderloins the other day and she fries everything she makes...it's cause her mom does and now she's experimenting since she's home for the summer. She's visiting with her horse this evening and I had to make dinner. Since I'm the one making it, I choose how to make the chicken. I made baked chicken tenderloins with egg noodles and some frozen sliced peppers I found in the freezer. Sure did smell good baking. I forgot to put reynolds wrap on it while baking so the top of the noodles were a bit hard, but the rest of it is okay. I also made a three cheese macaroni and cheese for hubby and instant potatoes...I so just wanted a baked potato...but I had to make enough for all 3 of us. Made some crescent rolls and for hubby, I made fish tenders. That was enough to make me tired...and I had my applesauce for dessert.

Sarah's not home yet, hope she likes what I made for her.

I hate it when she fries her food because other than fried food not being good for you, and she uses her moms butter Keller's Butter, the real salty kind - it also does a number on my cookware...ugghg...thank God for T-Fal...

Hope everyone is doing well... emoticon

I failed dinner last night.

I had my regular breakfast. My lunch was a baked potato with Mrs. Dash and LOL butter, 1 cup of mac/cheese and unsweetened applesauce.

Dinner: Sarah was visiting a friend and it was getting close to 6pm and I ate my lunch around 3pm, which made me getting hungry again. I fell into my craving of salt....we ended up at Mcdonald's. We both had chicken nuggets and fries. I did find that fast food doesn't help with staying full becuase by 9pm, I was hungry again.

So today, I am going to work. I'm eating regular breakfast but becuase it's so close to work time, I won't be hungry until later and I have my snacks in my work drawer to help - raisins, cheerios and sunflower seeds. Dinner at work tonight is Pesto Samon, baked sweet potato and green beans. I have a bad thing for ice cream too, so I'll pack my own no sugar added and that'll save me; hopefully.

Didja get that pitched roof on yet? *imagines T & B on abouta acre! of rooftop, lookin' over at me like i'm craaayyyyzzeeeee!*

Penny ~ AHA!! looked the other way, indeed, LOL emoticon
that lil' boy pig sounds adorable; that's probably why my friend who had a sheep farm never named her stock unless she planned to not harvest them.
We use Splenda a lot on things like strawberries; i love them tart, but also sweet, so rather than putting sugar on them, i'll use that or Stevia, which is more natural too. Also, i can eat them like you did with your cereal; even putting them in nonfat milk helps me get some sweetness with the berries w/o much more unhealthy stuff. But, sometimes i actually use whipped cream for a treat, i just don't drown the berries or add more sugary stuff.

everyone ~ i cannot BELIEVE the commercial i saw the other day for a local chain of restaurants.. they're serving.... Cotton Candy!! !! ~ how unhealthy do they Want us to get!!??!

Tee again ~ WAIT. There's an Internet OFF button????! *looks furiously at mai lapp top to try to avoid it!*

Penny again ~ hey, didja know that Cinnamon helps your metabolism and also helps counteract the spiking of diabetes? -i know, not reason enuf to eat sugar too, but maybe better than without?
Good for you, working on your food choices!

I munch on mini sweet peppers; fortunately they come in red/yellow/orange from Pero, in a bag that's easy to carry along for lunches. WAY better than my old favorite munchy chips!

LOVE ya all!! Stay Healthy! emoticon

I found another snack on my list to be actually pretty good. It says a cup of unsweetened applesauce and 2 graham crackers or the half of the 4.. you know what I mean. I bought the applesauce Friday when I was off. I cringed thinking it would taste horrible when in fact it doesn't taste bad at all - yay for me. Then looking through the cabinets I see no plain grahams, only cinnamon; which means I have to eat those before I can buy another box of plain. I know the cinnamon has sugar, but at least I'm trying here.

This morning makes the third morning of cheerios, walnuts and strawberries. It still takes a bit longer to get those strawberries down though. emoticon

I'll pass on being chased around with a stick...lol

I did my strawberry thing this morning and instead of a half cup I went with 1/4 cup. Got them down along with the walnuts and my cereal.

I'm at work and I'm getting the munchies...dinner ain't until 6pm and it's 4pm. So I made up my little snak baggies of sunflower seeds, cheerios and raisins. I also have 2 fruit newtons in my drawer from the other day.

So, I'm sitting here with the munchies...I try the sunflower seeds, never had them, not too bad...then I'm eating the raisins...the munchies are still there but not as much as they were. If I get through the raisins and I seem still hungry, I'll go into the cheerios. For my late night snack, I have an apple and cheese stick. But with being so busy at work, I never get a chance for a late night snak, but it's in the fridge should I get a chance.

For me, I can get breakfast in healthy all the time, it's the other two meals that get me.

Yes, it is hard to find REALLY sweet strawberries. Sugar is 16 calories per teaspoon. Figure it in, unless you want to use the artificial sweeteners.
New weight loss plan. Have Sarah chase you around the yard with that STICK!

Chopped weeds for half an hour. Gathered brass from our last shooting event. Will work on our roof later in the day.

I've had trouble getting on the WEB the past 24 hours. Realized that I had inadvertly pressed the INTERNET OFF button!

Sarah's got Magnum trained with a pig stick. It's just another thing that you have to buy to make it look good. Sheesh...anyway, he doesn't really need the stick to steer much - he LOVES to get out and walk and run and bark! He's hilarious! I think we'll miss him like we did the boer goats. Seems the boys of all the animals we get are more friendlier and easier to deal with than the females.

One day Sarah and I came home to find Ivory out of then pen and had her nose up to the chicken pen...she didn't spook or anything, but she was a pain to get back in the pen. She didn't listen at all. In fact, I just looked the other way while Sarah yelled and pushed her back in.

A question about snacking - straweberries. I like them, but they are so tart. Anything I can put on them that is still good for me?

I'm trying the breakfast plan from Multigrain Cheerios by eating a cup of multrigrain cheerios, 2 T of walnuts and a 1/2 cup of sliced strawberries.

Have a good one ya'll - I'm off to work this weekend...

THIN! If you don't stop burning the candle at both ends, we will have to call you STUBBY!
Brie and I worked on our toilet tank, too. They don't make those flushing mechanisms very strong (doesn't help that the fill-tube was stuffed with bee's knees!) Being that the comode is in the hanger, we devised a Frankenstein solution: we took off the tank top, and built a faucet to fill the tank directly. Ugly but effective! Not automatic, but fills very quickly!
Today we should begin building a pitched roof over our flat roof.

NIAGCHRIS246 ~ i live right at wny too; and we have lots of animals also, and!! i am VERY tired all the time lately; & after seeing the doc i've determined that (barring any tests showing unusual stuff) i am simply burning the candle at both ends again! So i can relate to your recent post.
I'm glad PeachFuzz is feeling better, too. Our boody-boy dawg has been 'scribed an increase in his prozac, but instead i got him a Thundershirt; first nite he wore it overnight, DH said in the am, 'why is he so quiet?'... after she'd FInally gotten to sleep in, 'stead of being waked by his alerting barking several times as the sun rose! yay.

Tee ~ our weather is Fine! compared to yours, lol ! We will have some light showers later this weekend, but i hope they won't disturb our Streetpainting Fest. I bought a canopy for the first time; i'll have to weight down the legs, and bring it home sat. nite bcs the small city it's held in is not safe from theft at all. I'll post pics later of my old 'paintings' and also the new one, so you can see !
ps i have that Same delusion, LOL! i keep borrowing books, and i have to return them unread, usually! i think it's that burning the candle thing, like NiagChris.

pps LOL, don't you mean, "Don't Dream It, BEEE IT" ?

I just 'fixed' the sink faucet's hose; it has had a broken holeguard for a long time, and the hose finally has a row of small holes in it; of course, this faucet was cheep and doesn't have a way to replace the hose w/o taking the whole thing out, if then. so... not Really fixed! but it's not spraying water below the cabinet any longer. We like our doublewide, but the details of how it's made are very cheep and synthetic like paper and plastic and glue and staples. To a carpenter like me, it sort of makes me feel it's more disposable than rebuildable... ah, well !

PENNYMAE1969 ~ that sounds like alot of work, those piggies! I hope you make the transition well.
& i thought i had a lotta struggle washing Pug dawgs! lol

KnittingNan ~ hey, there! i got your note, thanks!

well, time to quit burnin' this candle! Hope to see ya sooner!

We drove the motorbike to Dell City and stopped by the hardware store to pick up a new toilet tank flushing mechanism. Because of bees. Let me tell you a story.
When we first got our 12 foot tall water tank, we left the top vent hole open. Unbeknownst to us a lot of bees crawled in and drowned. I suppose they all sank to the bottom of the huge tank. This month, out of careless planning, we ran our tank dry and apparently, sucked bee carcasses into our water system. We were surprised when our toilet wouldn't flush. But when Brie disassembled the flushing mechanism, she had to empty the tube of, you guessed it, BEE PARTS!
We have since covered the vent hole and will schedule our water deliveries more often!
